Axel was secretly hoping that she wouldn't ask him something like that. It was very hard to explain; he couldn't even really explain it to himself. The stallion continued to stare into the pool, his eyes deep in thought. "Yes, of course I'm happy. I'm the one that told you to stay but that doesn't matter. Just as long you're happy, I am too." At the end of his sentence, Axel shrugged slightly and watched the waves ripple across the surface of the pool.
"You will never be a burden. If anything, I'm probably the one burdening you." He left it at that and shrugged once more. He didn't like talking about stuff like this but he knew that they needed to get it all out into the open. It wouldn't be a very healthy relationship if Axel kept everything to himself. It just didn't work that way. He never wanted her to think poorly about herself so it was up to him to always keep her happy.

There he went again with the 'if she was happy' line again, but at least he had said that he was happy. What was she going to do to get him to be open with her? Baby steps if need be and it seemed like the right approach to getting him to open up to her. To tell her what was bothering him so he didn't have to bear the weight alone. Ears twitching at the silence that ensued after he had finished his statement she stepped over and rested her head over his shoulders gently.
"I don't think you would be a burden to me. Though some are too great to bear alone." She said just resting there, her eyes closing a bit. "Besides, we both have something to live for when we have each other, never to be lone in the cruelness of the world. Or so said a wise stallion I had met while I was still a small filly."
With a small giggle to herself, Wica adjusted her stance to not be leaning too hard against him or bearing too much weight upon his shoulders. Her long tail lay still behind her as her wings eased a bit and drooped at her sides, it had grown warm in that valley with the sun hanging high over head. It didn't appear to get dark as quickly as it had when she was little, the seasons had begin their change indeed...

Axel didn't think that he would ever open up to others but all the rules were broken when he was with Wica. Even so, he wasn't about to give in to her so easily. "Well, we haven't been together for a long time. You might change your mind in time." With her weight on her, Axel didn't feel relaxed. Again, it was a thing about personal space. Nobody had ever invaded his before so he just wasn't used to being so close to another soquili.
"I know that..." He voice trailed off unsure of how to reply to her now. "Don't worry about anything because I'll never leave you if you want me around." He left the last bit of what he was going to say out.
The stallion gazed down at the other soquili leaning against him. He felt a mixture of emotions that he wasn't used too, all of those feelings that came with being in love. He let the silence envelop the pair and looked around at the forest around them.

Well that was true, they hadn't been together that long, Just a few days she thought. Hardly long enough, right? But Wica couldn't help, but think that she couldn't see herself with another stallion, she didn't know of any others would treat her as Axel did, even if their start was as rocky as ever. In truth, if she could have started their first meeting over again, she thought it would have just turned out the same... Maybe a little different if she had chosen her words a bit more carefully.
Then there was always the looming question of wanting him around... Of course she wanted him around, who didn't? Besides those that thought too much of themselves to shed a little light to others they tended to care for. Pulling her head off his shoulders, Wica looked at the stallion as just stood there watching his, their reflections in the pool, before staring out at the trees around them. Her own dark ears twitched as she listened to the quite of the forest. Though maybe a bird chirped here or there, but that was about it.
Turning away from the pool a little, Wica stepped over to a tree that was two coming from the same stump and lays down at its base. Keeping her wings close to her sides, she again watched Axel as he stood in silence, admiring how he looked, his cloak making it look like he was wearing black armor, ready to defend himself, if not her from whatever dangers were out there. He defender her once, that though made her shiver, wolves, she hated the beasts. Her thoughts still came back to him always saying, 'I'll never leave you if you want me around'. She did, she did want him around, he was a hard nut to crack, but deep down, she felt that he had great feelings for her.
"Axel, I can say this, if I hadn't wanted you around, I wouldn't be here. But I do want you around, You are the only one outside my family that understands me." She pointed out from where she lay. "If I had to chose between another stallion and you, I would chose you any day, no one else matters. You are like a knight in armor to me, someone I can depend on being there for me when I need someone. Love may not come now, but in time, I hope so."

Axel wasn't sure what to say to her now. Everything was all too confusing for him to really understand what was going on. His feelings and emotions were definitely a mess right now so he didn't want to mess things up by saying the wrong thing to her. He didn't like thinking about the past. In his mind, he had made a mistake by getting close to her because he was so sure that he was going to hurt her in the future. He truly cared about her and he didn't want her to feel hurt or anything bad and especially if it was his fault, he could never live with himself. It would take him a lot of time to get over his fears.
The stallion kept looking into the water as Wica moved away from him. He looked at his reflection thoughtfully. He never understood why he wore a cloak but it seemed to fit him. Without it, he would be a very dull soquili.
He was about to say something in response th what she said but he stopped himself. He had already made himself clear that he wasn't right for her but he wouldn't make her feel worse about the matter. And he couldn't help but chuckle aloud at her last comment about love. How did she know that he wasn't already in love with her?

She just watched him from where she lay, it was nice to at least get off her legs and wings for a little while. Though laying down had their down sides as well as Wica was always antsy and couldn't sit still. This seemed to be one of those times, pulling herself back to her hooves, a foalish look came over her face as she watched him just stand there at the pond edge. Raising her head up, Wica stepped carefully over toward Axel, even if the sound of her hooves could be heard on the still somewhat soggy ground. Wings flexing at her sides, she walked closer, well aware that he could hear her, but that didn't stop her from going through with the foalish act.
Though he would be hard to push, maybe she could surprise him just a little... Tail twitching behind her, Wica aimed to push Axel into the water, before leaping in with him. With the waters still cold from the melting snow, it felt refreshing to her and she longed for a bath anyways. Wings fluttering at her sides, Wica half leaped in the water, making it splash at her sides and before her in small waves. Oh she had some growing up to do it seemed, but being a foal now and again never seemed to hurt anyone.

Axel turned to look at her as she moved behind him. Staring at her, he tried to figure out why she was moving behind him and then when he felt her pushing him, he felt his temper flash. He strongly disliked water and everything about it. Maybe it was affinity towards heat and fire but he just didn't like it. He fell into the water because she had caught him off-guard. Snorting distastefully, Axel crawled out of the water and shook his fur lazily. He could feel his temper licking the inside of him but he suppressed it knowing that he would regret showing his temper to Wica.
The stallion continued to shake out his fur and his soaking coat. That thing seemed to soak in the water easily. He walked towards the tree and stood underneath it, his emerald eyes staring intensely at her. Though, the water droplets on his fur made him seem almost heavenly. He wanted to burn all of the water away. Axel attempted to shake the water from his fur again. During this entire time, he managed to keep his mouth shut and his temper in check.

Wica had stopped with her splashing as Axel snorted and clambered out of teh water. Blinking a couple times she wondered why he looked at her in that way. Had she done something he hadn't liked? Well the whole shoving him head long into the pool was kind of foolish, her head wasn't in the right place either at that time. It had reverted back to her foal days and pushing her brother into the water where they lived when he was showing off to his own reflection. OK. Not the right thing to do to a guy you like. A lot.
Pulling her water bound body from the pool, she shook off , wings flapping at her sides to get the water off her feathers. Her mane and tail felt weighted down, but it also gave it a sort of shine when the water reflected in the sun. Shaking again, letting the termer shift down her spine and out her long tail, the long locks making a sort of whip like motion snapping at the ends to flick water back to where it had come from. But now she felt like she had done it, caused the only guy that seemed to like her to hate her with one foalish, stupid act.
"Sorry, Axel, I don't know where my head was." She apologized from the pool side, water still dripping from her wings, tail and mane. "Seems I'm still a foal at heart." She shrugged unmoving from her spot, feeling that space was best for right now.

Shaking the water from him once again, Axel, again, was feeling mixed emotions. He felt angry but he knew he couldn't get angry at Wica. She was... Wica. He would never let her see his temper... Axel continued to watch her with cold eyes. He definitely was unsure of how to deal with a situation like this. But the moment that she apologized, his eyes softened. Her expression just melted his heart, or whatever he had. All of the anger that he had felt disappeared into thin air and his expression of anger turned into an expression of concern and compassion.
"No, it's my fault. I'm sorry." The stallion looked away feeling rather ashamed of himself for letting something so trivial make him angry. He continued to look away knowing that he had made a mistake. He didn't like feeling vulnerable like this.

Wica merely watched Axel before stopping over toward him, to the point that she was just about under his hooves sorta speak, Still watching him, Wica stepped closer still to places her head under his. Letting her eyes close, she stood there, pressing her head against his neck. Letting her tail twitch behind her, her rear side stepped around to be beside the still soggy Axel. Her own coat was still soggy from the pool, though a relief from what heat there was bearing down upon them.
She wanted to say something, but her tongue didn't seem to want to move. So Wica remained silent, thinking that the silence was what they both needed, Quite time sorta speak. Keeping her eyes closed, at one point, Wica had drifted off to sleep, though her ears still twitched a little. All the events that had taken place, she had tired more quickly then normal, could have been that she wasn't alone, she never wanted to be alone. Ever again...
"I love you Axel," Wica muttered in her sleep, "Don't leave me to be alone. I don't want to be alone anymore."

Axel had gotten use to her close presence by now but he wasn't expecting her to touch him. His skin tingled slightly as he was unsure of what to do. He just stood there, rock still. A bewildered look took his expression as he looked down at her. All of this was against his rules! He could feel a little siren go off in his head to back off and disappear into the night before he got any closer to her. But for some reason, he knew the fight was over. There was nothing he could do but succumb. But that would only come with time.
"I already told you how I feel. That's not going to change." Axel couldn't bring himself to say the 'L' word again. So much confusion was going on in his head that he had just decided to numb it all out. "I won't ever leave you if you want me here. And if you want me gone, I can do that too. But that doesn't mean you'll ever be alone. I'll watch over you, forever." And that was all he could bring himself to say. His words almost choked him. It was almost like it was a different Axel talking but then again, when he was with Wica, he definitely was different.

She didn't say anything more as if she hadn't heard him, tail flicking a little and a hoof shifting, that was ll she did. Head hanging slightly, she had fallen completely asleep at Axel's side, apparently not wanting him to run off on her while she was asleep, not that that was her intention. She just wanted someone to lean on, someone who wouldn't run in fear of her for just of who she was. Shifting again, Wica placed her sleeping body, unconsciously, upon the ground so that her legs wouldn't crumbled beneath her while she did sleep. With her movements she had opened a way for Axel to leave, she wouldn't know it as she was too far into her dream world to even notice what was happening in the waking one.
When sleeping, Wica seemed completely... Peaceful.

Feeling her weight on him and then moving to the ground, Axel moved with her so that she wouldn't fall. There was no way he could sleep now. He needed some time to think so it wasn't so bad that Wica had fallen asleep. The stallion lay there next to her, alert and still conscious. They were still in the forest and who knew what could come at them. It was a dangerous place to fall asleep. And he wasn't going to let anything harm her.
