Tobi Ring: 玉 ("jewel", "ball"; "jade"; also the king in shogi) Ring position: Left thumb Partner: Formerly Deidara Tobi (トビ) is a former subordinate of Zetsu. After Sasori's death, Tobi takes his ring, position, and partner (Deidara) in Akatsuki, thereby becoming a full member. Tobi's personality is at odds with the standard amongst Akatsuki members; while most are dedicated and serious, Tobi is more carefree and goofy. These personality traits tend to irritate Deidara, who often attacks Tobi in a comical fashion whenever Tobi unintentionally annoys him. Kisame Hoshigaki, on the other hand, appreciates Tobi's ability to brighten up their "gloomy organization". After Deidara's suicidal final attack against Sasuke, which Zetsu speculates might have also killed his partner, Tobi is shown to be alive and giving orders to Pain, until then the ostensible leader of Akatsuki. During their conversation, he refers to himself as Madara Uchiha. As Madara, Tobi's personality and speech become completely different, with much less formal diction and a more typically 'villainous' arrogance. It seems, however, that he still has some vested interest in maintaining the illusion of himself as the carefree Tobi: when he encounters a group of Konoha ninja, he returns to his former personality, jokingly offended by the "unfairness" of being outnumbered eight to one. Significantly, he is less overtly cowardly, mocking Naruto's attempt to sneak attack him and warning the Konoha ninja against underestimating him as merely "annoying", even under their advantageous conditions. Tobi's actual appearance remains a complete mystery, except for a wild shock of black hair. He wears an odd mask that covers his entire face save for his right eye, which like other Uchiha has a Sharingan. He also has several bolts or pins present on the arms of his uniform, now obscured by his Akatsuki cloak. Furthermore, Tobi does not wear a visible headband, though Madara Uchiha is known to originate from Konohagakure. His fighting style is equally shrouded in mystery, as his only notable trait is the ability either to let attacks 'phase' through him or some other means of evading blows. where did u get that???? ANBU no Suna_Tatsuya ok if u beleve that Tobi is Madara... then theres something wrong with u, everyone thinks its him but how could it be? hed be like 90 years old, and not even ninjas are very strong at that age... figure it out... Madara was around the same age as the First Hokage, the First Hokage is Tsunade's grandfather... and Tsunade is 50 years old... so for any respectable person... The third Hokage would be about 90 if he was still alive... so that means Madara would be about 90 too... theres only one possible way Tobi is Madara, and thats if he was put into another body using Orochimaru's body swap jutsu.... personally, i think Tobi is Obito, i mean, Obito wasnt actually seen being crushed, his right side was crushed but then Rin and Kakashi left before he actually died... so i think wat might have happened, is that because it was Zetsu that wanted him in the Akatsuki, found him and was going to eat him, but seen that he wasnt dead, and that he had the Sharingan, Thinking that he was as strong as Itachi, decided to let him live, and possibly brought him to Kakuzu, who stiched and bolted him up, because it is said in the Manga that he has bolts on his right side, and wat for, for probably holding his bones together cuz his right side was crushed... and he believes that he has the strength of Madara Uchiha, because just gaining the Sharingan would have made him believe that, Obito was childish and immature like Naruto, so thats possibly y... and he only has one eye visible, his right eye... thats because his left eye was given to Kakashi... i think that in ch. 385 or 386... or sometime soon... we will finally get the answer of who Tobi is really.... Reasons for being Madara: Madara has his brothers eye/eyes and so has gained some amazing new power through their combined sharingan. He may need the bolts because he is old. Tobi claimed to have the power of
Uchiha Madara. Madara took his brothers eye and this apparently makes you immortal. (according to Itachi)
Reasons for being Obito: Obitos right side was crushed and Tobi needs bolts to hold him together maybe. Also you can only see Tobi's left eye which has the sharingan and therefore he could be hiding a damaged face beneath his mask. Obito was not very smart and so when changing his name left it to be similar to his own (Tobi).
Now, heres a new one I've heard and support but I still hope that it is Obito.
Reasons for being Madara's brother: Uchiha Madara was seen in the manga as taking his brothers right eye out but not the left. Itachi doesn't say whether the brother died or not but that the other Uchihas killed their siblings for generations after that, but maybe this was a mistake. Tobis left eye is showing so it could be the brothers remaining eye.
Also, the brother would be old too meaning he might need bolts.
Tobi was seen acknowledging that he knew Madara, as his brother would and also that he had the same power so maybe they took the others corresponding eyes (he had Madaras left eye and Madara had his right eye) to get the power from the sharingan that they wanted. This power apparently makes you immortal. (according to Itachi)

so they finnally showed tobi's face, or at least one quarter of it,http://read.mangashare.com/Naruto/chapter-396/page017.html as you can see in the picture he has wrinkles and there is now signofhim having any disfugurations on his face of any kind, proving that he is not obito but in fact madara uchiha or some other unrevealed character, nevertheless he does have wrinkless proving that he is old and might be madara uchiha
