Amazing. Violet and the new kitty are playing together today. There's still some hissing going on, and new kitty has been smacked in the head a few times, but generally, they seem to be getting along quite well.
Yay progress!

ooh, that's good news. seems like violet knows how to put the new kitty in line.
mitts is very affectionate and playful towards visiting kittens, but he smacks them when they get out of line.

That's good, means she isn't a huge b***h like my female cat. Oreo refused to even go near the new kittens for about 3 days. She'd hiss everytime she'd look at them.
Mercury never cared either way about new kittens. In fact, he stood up for Esper against Oreo.
Esper was curious with Walter, but a bit hissy the first night. He was mostly just following him around sniffing him.

New cat introductions make me nervous. Introducing Rosette and Bart to the household was by far the worst and most traumatic.
We brought Rosie and Bart over and were trying to do a nice, smooth introduction in the kitchen... I can't remember the exact course of events, but some how Rosie ended up chasing Tiger around the kitchen - very aggressive and angry, lots of hissing and yowling, and then suddenly the kitchen walls are being spattered with this dark liquid that is coming out of one of the cats. Anyway, everyone starts screaming and freaking out, because in the dim lighting of the kitchen it looks like the room has been sprayed with copious amounts of blood and someone is going to be dead in a few minutes.
Well, after a second, we realized that this was not blood, but was actually very liquid poop. Not nearly as bad, though just as disgusting and no more fun to clean up.
I have since discovered that diarrhea seems to be one of their built in defence mechanisms, cause if you go near Lili with a pair of grooming clippers, the mere sound of them makes her start leaking liquid poop.
Why must everything that comes out of a cat be so vile and disgusting?

Awesome. I found a ball on a round track cat toy at Value Village for $2. Brought it home, washed it really well, and the cats love it.

I'm always wary about spending a lot of money on one cat toy, cause you never know if it will be the greatest thing on earth or if it will be completely rejected. Which is why I'm so glad I found this second hand - I think they're $10 or something like that new, which is a lot to spend on one toy if no one ends up playing with it.

my best friend just adopted these two lovely kittens nine weeks ago, and one of them died recently. it was very sad. i was on the phone listening to my best friend grieve about it. she and her boyfriend were very devastated.
sometimes i am sad that cats' lifespans are only a fraction of humans'. and some kittens are just so fragile.
but at least we take care of them and give them a good life, right?

Oh, thats so sad. I'm always sad when one of my cats die. In fact, just last summer one of my cats had kittens, and then just last month, two of them died. crying and I'm worried that the one thats left might get sick and die. shes been sneezing alot lately, and I'm wondering if shes not getting sick or something like that.
