__// Rekindling the Flame of Friendship She had been feeling rather... Off. Ever since her trip to that doctor where that serum to 'strengthen' her had been injected into her body. She worried about the baby... But she hadn't felt ill since. She'd actually felt better than she had since before her entire 'transformation' had taken place.
That being the case, she had opted to take a lovely walk through Durem. Jareth had met her at the Chat Noire and they'd sat down to chat over drinks and a light meal. Afterall, she was eating for two now.
Hatter, brand new necklace chain wrapped around one horn, was taking one of the few walkes s/he ever took now that s/he had come back from Hell.
Feeling much better now that s/he was back in her rightful body, s/he was glad that all of her friend were out of Durem and wouldent see what s/he looked like.
She stood slowly after paying the check, shooing Jareth away from her as she did so. "Be gone, man... I can stand on my own." She stuck her tongue out at him after speaking.
"You've just recently gotten over being ill... And, good gods, Skye. Is it too much for a brother to want to help his older sister?" He grinned as he watched a glare form over her lips. She'd always been beautiful... No wonder Kylatelle had always been jealous. "I'm only looking out for you, you know."
Tugging on the sleeve of a striped shirt s/he had stolen from Cian s/he grinned and streched. The sun actually felt nice since it was warm and it wasent going to rain. All in all it was going to be a good day. "As long as that hyper kitten dosent try to drag me out shopping again." s/he laughed. "You don't need to look out for me Ja'reth... I can easily look out for myself, you know." She playfully punched at his arm before heading out of the cafe. The sunlight caused her to stagger backwards... Almost as if the brightness was too much for her slitted eyes to take.
"What was that, old woman?" He smirked as he caught her from behind before she could fall. "I thought you could look after yourself." He shook his head slowly. Had his sister been wearing different clothing she might have been able to hide her current state but, wearing the black camisole top laced up the sides as she was? There was no mistaking the fact that her stomach was larger than it should have been.
Hatter was nearing one of the Cafe's s/he liked to eat lunch at and toyed with the idea of eating but changed its mind. Lunch would be at home, s/he still had some of the pasta Cian had made left over and that was sounding like a good idea.
"By the gods, Ja'reth... If you call me 'old' on more time..." Her silvery blue eyes narrowed, dark-rimmed edges threatening to swirl inwards as she glared at him. Her voice was loud and the threat it carried was lifted by the wind.
"Calm down..." He coo'd at her, gently easing her back onto her own feet. "Who knew that pregnancy would make you even more disagreeable..."
Raking a hand though dark purple hair s/he rested its hand on the brick of the building and hummed a song s/he remembered from childhood. S/he would walk around the block and take the long way home, it would be funner that way and get Hatter out of the house for a good bit of time.
Her eyes narrowed at the man who looked more like her than she was openly willing to admit. They may have shared the same mother and father... But damned if he wasn't an a** and a half. A final huff sent her walking away from him, red hair streaming behind her like a fiery beacon that few would be able to miss.
"Skye... C'mon..." He pleaded as he chased after her, amazed by how fast she could... Waddle. No. She wasn't large enough for that... Yet. "Skye. Get back here!" He grumbled. Somewhere in the back of his mind he heard the song being hummed but, in his desire to catch the woman storming away from him he passed it by.
Hatter regestered a stock of red hair go past and its head turned. Skye. That couldent be Skye, Skye wasent..."Skye?" S/he called out as s/he leaned away from the wall looked down the sidewalk.
She wheeled around to tell Ja'reth exactly where he could stuff it only to catch sight of the second being that had uttered her name. Her glare softened into an oddly shocked look. That was... And she hadn't... Her lips parted softly before shifting into a sheepish smile.
He stopped just before he could run into her and, before he could go into a rant about why she should know better than to try to escape family (again) he found a hand clapped over his mouth. "Mmmbffhh."
"Skye...that is you....what are you doing?" S/he walked up grinning. It was strange seeing Hatter, well, more masculan looking. Espically as since s/he had been female most of the time. "I havent seen you since, well its been a while...why are you chubby?"
"I... Well..." The sheepish smile became more of a worried look as her hands moved to balance on her belly. Of course, the problem with that was the fact that it left Jareth's mouth uncovered.
"Chubby? Ha." He snorted, blue eyes gleaming with mischief. "She's pregnant."
Hatter spared a glance for the other with Skye and turned back to her friend. "Wait..preg....WINK GOT YOU PREGNANT!" S/he bawlked. That was something new, Angels werent supose to be able to breed with humans, though Skye was not human. "When did this...why didnt anyone...i miss something."
"I... We..." Her cheeks flushed a brilliant pink color much to her despise. The fact that her brother was now laughing certainly wasn't making it any better.
"Don't feel left out, lovely... If Skye had it her way none of the family would 'ave known." He nudged the dragoness gently with his elbow only to have her swing at him. "Some of us wouldn't even have known had she not started packing on the po--" He found himself hit once more, this time wincing. "Ow."
"So you were just going to not tell anyone until there was a screming spawn following you around?" Rasing a brow Hatter looked at the two. "I feel loved...i didnt even get told about the engagement until i ran into you...."
Hatter knew s/he wasent really important in teh sceme of things, and knew s/he had been gone for a while, but it did hurt that s/he had not been told.
She swallowed hard as he eyes fell to the ground, the color of her cheeks darkening to a deeper shade of red. "I hadn't wanted to hurt you, Hatter... I was afraid... That's why we didn't mention the engagement." She said softly, saddness lingering in the tones of her voice. "As for the babe... I didn't want people treating me differently."
For once Jareth remained silent, simply stepping up beside Skye in order to support her should something happen.
"You already explain about the engagement, i already explained that me and WinK were over before that but...." Shaking its head Hatter sighed. "Well, you are pregenant, if people didnt treat you differently then i would have to hurt them. Sorry to say but well, you get treated different."
"I tried telling her that..." He grumbled as he shook his head, looking away when he found Skye glaring at him once more.
"Treating me one way because I'm pregnant is different than treating me like I'm a weak woman unable to do anything." Her anger helped the blush receded slightly. "I'm not going to break any more now than I was before... I'm having a child... Not a mutant who's going to burst forth and kill me."
"Sad to say but you are more delicate, its a fact." Looking at the other again Hatter blinked. "Who the hell is he and why does he keep talking?" He reminded the demon of a younger brother.
"I feel better now that I've seen that... Odd doctor... Than I have in ages." She nodded, hand remaining protectively on her stomach.
"Jareth Draig... We met at the wedding." He rolled his eyes, muscular arms crossing over his chest. "You yelled at me for trying to spike the punch and I told you to stick your horns elsewhere? All in all... I think we got along wonderfully."
"Ohh...well that is good...." Hatter didnt like doctors, mostly since they seemed to treat her funny, but others did.
"Ohh...i remember you now....yea. I remember telling you i wasent flexiable enough to stick my horns elsewhere at the time."
"Skye....you should come over, i believe we have stories to tell, and if the furball calls me again you can make up an excuse for me not going shopping."
"I don't trust doctors... And I didn't particularly trust this one either..." She shook her head slowly, wondering for a moment what exactly had been in that serum. "Of course, I've felt fine since... No more sicknesses and pains..."
"Yup." He smirked, eyes dancing with that same devious light that male!Skye's had posessed when he'd flirted with Hatter. "Then Kylatelle came 'round and ruined my fun..."
"Doctors are evil, this is why i dont go to them...." S/he was slighlty glad that Skye or Jareth hadent made a comment on her appearence and the difference beween what she ahd looked like.
"Kylataelle.....that was the pissy one?"
She snorted softly, glad that at least someone was in agreement with her over that. "WinK made me go to a doctor when he first discovered that I was 'sick'... I refused to go again after they'd poked and proded me with enough needles to make a pin cushion look comfortable."
"Pissy?" He chuckled. "My dear lady, that is an understatement... My lovely sister, Kylatelle has the temper of a bee with a wet nest."
"Ja'reth!" She chided, trying not to laugh herself.
"Probably is an understatement...." S/he remembered him. "Anyway...yes, doctors are evil but they can be useful if the know what they are dealing with.
"Ok, so you are preggo, your family is still here, and i come home to Chesh being a freak over Cians birthday, spawn on the way, what next?"
"I'm not sure..." She said softly once more as a frown tugged at the corners of her lips. "I suppose it all depends... On how home life continues to go... And how this pregnancy turns out. I'm still not quite sure as to how long it's going to last... There aren't any records of the gestation times of dragons in human form."
The talk having turned to something he had little intrest in he pressed a quick kiss to Skye's cheek before bowing to Hatter and wandering off. Women's talk... Blah.
"Umm.....i probably read that somewhere, but i dont remember. Ddint think it would eve be useful." she demon shruged. "he seemed....well alittle less drunk." Hatter rested an arm over Skye's shoulder. "So spawn....does that mean i am going to get called an aunt, uncle...somethng?"
"That depends, Hatter..." She turned a slight smile towards the demon, finally taking note of the change in appearance. "Would you like to be called something?" One hand reached up and, without thinking, idly caressed one of the gnarled horns. "You've changed..."
"Well...i would like to know i still have family here." The demon grinned. "Yea...i, well, i grew up.....in a way." It was hard to explain what happened to Demons, but Hatter hoped Skye wouldent ask any complicated questions.
"I know how that is..." She managed a soft laugh as her own tail flickered behind her, silver scales shimmering in the bright daylight. She'd gone through a change of her own... But at least the wings were gone now. "Since my charge is nearly married to yours... That has to count for something as far as family goes, doesn't it?"
"Works for me." the demon grinned. "You going to be able to make it to Cian's birthday? Chesh seems to be spazzing about it."
Hatter was slighlty glad that Jareth hadent stuck around. S/he had wanted to talk to him more, he had seemed intresting and s/he figured he would be when not drunk.
"Cheshire has... Alot planned, I believe." Her smile broadened at that thought. "I'm not sure... I think it all depends on what the plans are. As it stands... I should probably be trying to hunt down the members of my household..." Her cheeks flushed slightly once more. "I haven't seen my husband in days."
"Oh, well that is responsible of him." The demon didnt seem impressed. "Shouldent he be the one taking care of you most?"
"I'm sure that there's reason for it... Or maybe he's just finally decided to give me my space." She shrugged, trying to brush it aside as nothing. "Toki and 'Vyn had been the ones mixing the herbs that had kept most of my food down anyways."
"Still....he better not show his face while i am around..." Hatter didnt like the though that Wink was not around with Skye. "At least someone is being useful, well if you need anything you know where i live."
"'Vyn's learned alot in the year that he's been with me." She smiled, obviously quite proud of her eldest son. "Flarie's been help as well... Of course, she's been acting odd lately as well... Her girls don't seem to care much for Aurora."
"I would get the impression that they wouldent." Hatter had only really ment Flaire in passing but from what s/he knew s/he was suprised Flaire liked Wink. "Chesh said the same thing, said Vyn was comming along nicely."
"Well..." She tilted her head towards the road that her brother had just disappeared down. "I should probably return home before they send the search party out..." She took a step forward, wrapping slender arms around the demon's middle. "It was good seeing you again, Hatter."
"You too darlin, make sure you come over for lunch soon...the house is lonely with just me and the critters." The demon hugged Skye back and grinned.
"Take care of yourself... I'll visit soon enough." She smiled once more as she turned away, padding off after the egghead so that he could escort her home without worry. "No worries, i am a big...well what ever i am." Hatter turned back toward her home, and her pets. S/he had a feeling that s/he would be seeing Skye soon enough.

__// Oddities at Home Hatter was sitting at the table in the kitchen going though cookbooks. S/he was looking for something intresting to make for Cian before his birthday since Chesh had plans and the demon knew s/he wasent going to get to make him a birthday dinner.
S/he was glad to be home and getting caught back up with what had been going on.
Things had been... Odd, to say the least. Ever since her run-in with Hatter in Durem she had felt strangely. Her body insisted that it was fine but her mind had started to react contrariwise.
She had started seeing things out of the corner of her eyes... Shadows moving here and there as if coming to her aide at the oddest of times. None of her creatures would come near her. The cats hid in her lab (which she had been banned from by both WinK and Flarie) and the wolves had taken to sleeping at the base of the stairs leading up to 'Vyn's room.
The only creature 'foolish' enough to come near her was the baby blue Jivvin that was now following her as she made her way through the woods. She had promised a friend a visit... And perhaps that friend would be able to ease her worries.
Sticking a bright blue marker on a page the demon started flipping again. Purple hair pulled up away from its face with a bone colored clip the demon actually looked like a housewife. It was a strange thing for someone who usually looked out of place even in its own home.
It had been quite some time since she'd found herself at this house... The last she could truthfully remember was when she had been himself instead. Just as her fingers moved to knock at the door a vine snaked around her ankle which caused a startled cry to pass over her lips. The shadow that had been cast behind her shifted towards the offending plant as the Jivvin began to bark at it, pointy teeth bared.
Hearing a comotion at the door the demon got up and headed for the for the front of the house. Pulling open the door the demon blinked into the light. "Skye....and barking blue thin....jivvin."
"Get off." She snarled, bright blue eyes seeming quite dark as she reguarded the offending plant. It simply snaked higher along her leg. The Jivvin latched onto it with his teeth, giving it a solid bite.
Glaring at the offending vine Hatter reached down, snarling something in a language neither Skye or the jivven had heard, and grabbed the plant. Moments later the vine slid off Skyes's leg and disapeared into the garden. "Dont tell me you forgot about that?"
Her eyes remained dark as her shadow receeded, almost as if it were curling up around her feet. "Do you truly think I would have let it get me had I remembered?" She huffed, slender arms crossing over a heaving chest covered only by the black peasant blouse she wore, lace sleeves drawing tight over milky white flesh.
Hatter raised a brow at the shadow, that was not something s/he had not seem from her friend. "No, but most people dont forget that thing. Who are you?" Hatter looked at the blue Jivven.
As it was noticed the shadow returned to 'normal'... Nothing amiss here. "Well I am not most people."
The Jivvin blinked, eyes narrowing slightly as it looked up at Hatter. He hadn't wanted to come here... He hadn't even wanted Skye to leave the house. "That's just Aaralyn. He usually never shuts up... But he's quiet around 'strangers'."
"Well, come in, sorry if i look dishvled..." The demon was dressed in a pair of low slung, but comfortable looking faded jeans and the striped shirt she had been seen in the other day. "Aaralyn is welcome to explore, Kuro is in the libary i believe if he wants to say hi, i dont know if they have met."
"There's no need to apologize, Hatter... It isn't like I called you ahead of time and told you to make yourself look more lovely than you currently do." An odd grin tugged at the corners of the dragoness's lips, slitted eyes glimmering with the same strangeness. "As for Aaralyn? I'm not sure he'll leave my side. He seems to like following me about."
The demon headed for the kitchen, knowing Skye would follow it. "I was hunting up stuff for Cian, anything i can get you? Soda? water? tea? something?" Picking up a few of the books she made a place where Skye could sit down.
Sliding slowly though the back door to the kitchen a certian blood red Jivven made his way toward the pantry.
She followed after, taking a few steps before her shadow seemed to realize that it should be following her as well. "Tea sounds lovely... The boys haven't been letting me drink it as often. They're convinced that when I do I don't eat." She rolled her eyes at that thought. Silly boys...
The Jivvin eyed the shadow warily. He didn't trust things like that, even if it was in his nature to be overly trusting. Nose scrunching he padded off after Skye, curling up beneath the chair that she had decided to sit on.
Hatter set a pot of water on the stove to heat and flopped down in a chair, one hand resting on Kuro's head as he walked over. "So, doing good?" She scratched the large canin on the head as he sat beside her.
Something about Skye was strange, something that shouldent be there but was.
She nodded as her eyes drifted across the table to gaze at the demon. "I'm begining to feel a bit more like a house... But, other than that all is as well as can be expected." She ignored the huff from beneath her chair, not knowing why the Jivvin was disagreeing with her.
"You sure?" the demon leaned on the table. "Something seems....well, weird." Kuro snorted, as if he was in agrement with the demon.
Her eyes narrowed as he sat up straight, arms crossing over her chest once more. "Don't you dare start what all of the others have been doing... There is nothing wrong with me. Why on earth do all of you see a pregnancy as something wrong?"
"Im not talking about the spawn...." the demons eyes slid down to the dragons shadow. "Its something else, like there is somethign following you that shouldent be."
The shadow was laying behind Skye just as it should of been; cast perfectly from the light that was shining down upon her. "If you're talking about Aaralyn... I can't help that. He follows me whether I wish him to or not."
"Not him.." The demon shook her head and went to get the tea. Pouring the stuff into a glass for her friend teh demon pulled a bottle of soda from the fridge and headed back to the table.
"Then tell me, Hatter..." Her eyes followed the demon, fiery eyebrow raising slightly as she did so. "What are you talking about?"
Hatter looked down at the shadow again. "Its, its a shadow.....well not really but it dosent want to be seen so i dont really know." S/he shruged and sat back down as she set the cup before Skye. "Its more of a feeling than a proof."
"You're talking silly, my dear..." She shook her head as she took the cup into her hands, fully enjoying the warmth that it offered. Of course, something within her mind argued with her words. There was something odd going on.
"No she isn't..." The Jivvin muttered from beneath Skye's chair, tail flickering up to wrap around his body.
"See the pup agrees with me." The demon looked down at the blue pup just as Kuro snorted adn settled on his stomach. "Something is funky....."
"Aara correct, once." He muttered darkly.
"There is nothing wrong." She insisted as she lifted the cup to her lips, ignorant to the fact that the shadow cast by her chair was now taking hold of Aara's hind paw.
He noticed though and quickly yelped, bumping his head off of the chair as he tugged free only to skitter over to the other side of the kitchen. The movement of the chair caused Skye to spill her tea, hot liquid soaking into the various tones of her green skirt. "Ooh!"
Kuro growled at the shadow and got up to see where it had grabed Aara. He didnt like the pup, not at all, but if the shadow was doing something it was a new thing to learn.
"See....." S/he got up and walked aroudn to where Skye was. "You arent burnt are you?"
She had managed to simply drop the cup back onto the table as she stood to keep from further heating her lap. Her cheeks were flushed with a brilliant indignance as she glared over at the Jivvin. "No... Just a bit wet..."
Aara's nose wrinkled, tongue sticking out as a response to Skye's glare. Let her be mad... That stupid... Whatever... Had grabbed him.
"Come on, we'll get you something dry....i have to have stuff somewhere." S/he tugged on Skye's arm. "Kuro take care of pretty boy there." The demon snickered at the blue pup
Kuro nosed at the leg that had been grabed. There wasent an injury at least, but the shadow was strange.
She sighed as she allowed herself to be lead away by Hatter. "Alright..." The shadow lingered behind her long enough to appear threatening to the Jivvin once more before latching onto Skye's movements perfectly and floating off.
Aara pawed at Kuro's nose, bright eyes narrowing slightly. "L-leave my leg alone."
"You, my little dragon, are off." The demon noted as s/he headed up the stairs. S/he hoped that if something happened Skye would at lest find someone who could help her.
He nipped at the offending paw. "Not hurt....Hatter said take care." He noted in his quiet voice.
"When will you people simply come to terms with the fact that there is nothing wrong with me?" She grumbled, hand drifting to her stomach as she made her way up the stairs. Idly she found herself wondering if she'd be able to make her way up the stairs at home after long.
"M'fine..." He grumbled, sounding very much like his mistress. Something about the shadow had seemed to suck a few ounces of happiness from him. "When there is nothing wrong we wont worry." The demon noted over her shoulder. "Be happy im not helping your pudgy self up the stairs." S/he snickered.
"Miffed..." He noted as he sat on his haunches. Kuro remembred Skye from visits long ago, though the woman may not have seen him.
"There is nothing wrong." She insisted as she glanced up, instantly fighting the urge to pinch the demon's backside. "I'm not 'pudgy'. The rest of my body is just as tight as it's always been, I'll have you know."
He snorted as he settled back into a lying position, propping his head up on his paws. He truly should have stayed home... This wasn't any fun.
"Yea, keep saying that.." The demon headed into its room and for the huge closet. "You are pudgey, pudgey with spawn" The demon was probably going to get hit for that but it had to be said.
"Why follow? Borring correct?" Kuro didnt understand why Aara had come if he was just going to lay oh his kitchen floor pouting.
This time she didn't resist. Her hand came up and she pinched the demon's backside, snorting softly as she did so. "Don't make me prove it, demon."
He glanced up at the other Jivvin, wondering why he was suddenly so talkative. "Because something... Isn't right with Skye. She's... Sick. I think."
The demon squaked indignatly. "Dont do that!" S/he turned and glared at the dragon.
"No worries, Hatter will take care." He nodded. Hatter would. He had seen the demon care for things, for himself even. If something was wrong Hatter would know.
"Then stop calling me pudgy." She stuck her tongue out at the demon, crossing her arms over her chest as she did so.
"Not that easy..." He shook his head, letting his eyes close for a moment. There was no way that the other Jivvin would understand the desire he felt to do something... To help.
"Well you are." The demon crossed its arm over its own chest and glared back at Skye.
"Is too." He leaned down and looked at Aara. "Hatter good like that."
She huffed as she turned away from the demon, fully intending to head back downstairs where she would collect her furrball and go elsewhere. If she had wanted this sort of abuse she'd have stayed at home.
"It isn't... Normal sickness. Nothing that doctors can make better." He sighed softly, not willing to admit that it wasn't anything that he could make better either. "Skye, you cant go out there in tea soaked cloths. Get your scrawny a** in here." The demon glared at her. "If i have to force you i will.."
"Hatter is not doctor....Hatter better." He looked at the other wondering why he kept arguing. He was right, Hatter would fix it.
"My arse isn't scrawny... It's pudgy, remember?" She waggled her backside, tail swaying prettily along with her movements as she spoke. She made no movements to head back towards the demon.
"Not a doctor... Not a healer..." His nose scrunched once more, bright eyes seeming slightly darker as he looked up at the other Jivvin. "How could Hatter help?"
"Your a** is scrawny, your tummy is pudgey." Raising a brow Hatter looked at Skye. "You really want to walk all the way to your house in that? Then explain to your family why you didnt let me help?"
His head tilted his head to the side. "Hatter loves...stronger than medicine."
She smoothed her fingers down over her skirt, drawing the loose fabric tightly against her backside. Head turned round so that she could look at herself. "My backside is not scrawny... I think it looks rather nice." She grinned, shrugging her shoulders as she released the fabric. "It should dry durring the walk home..."
"Many love my mistress... But none have been able to make her better." His tail curled up around him, tip falling down across his eyes. Hatter rolled her eyes and grabed Skye's arm. "Ok, stop being a brat, you can get away with it at home not here. Were finding you something dry to wear."
"They were not Hatter." Kuro thought for a moment, he had to get this sentence right if it was going to make any sence. "Hatter is one of the thing following Skye, so Hatter can help."
"You're no fun..." She pouted as her arm was grabbed, letting it fall limp within Hatter's grasp.
He shifted his head in order to look at the other Jivvin once his eyes were open. "You don't understand... S'not following Skye... S'a'part of Skye. It made her better for a while... Now it's making her sick again."
"I am, just not when you are attached and preggo." The demon grinned.
"I understand....Something new, not supose to be but is." He leaned down so that the other didnt have to look up so far at him. "Will fix, no worries." He didnt know why he was talking to the other, but he was.
She resisted the urge to roll her eyes once more, instead letting a soft sigh fall from her lips. "Keep standing here and I'll be dry before you find something suitable for me to wear."
He sighed softly himself, lowering his head back to his paws as Kuro moved closer to him. "I hope so."
The demon did roll its eyes as s/he turned back the closet. "Lets see.....pants, pants, not sure, not mine....here we go." S/he pulled out a skirt that should have fit Skye. "Will this work?"
"Will be. "He places a paw on the others shoulder.
She shrugged as she took the skirt, eyeing it for a moment before nodding. "Should be fine... Where would you like me to change?"
He held back a shudder, unable to place the slight unease that he felt at Kuro's touch. It simply didn't seem right...
"Where ever you like. I will put your skirt in the washer and get it clean before it stains." The demon slid out of the closet
He removed his paw and shruged. He should get back to the libary, he only came out to see who had decided to enter. Getting up he streched and flicked his tail.
"Alright..." She said simply as she slung the new skirt over her shoulder before dropping the one that she had been wearing right where she was standing. She stepped out of it smoothly before pulling the other one off of her shoulder in order to ease it up over her slender hips. That done, she awkwardly bent to retrieve her own skirt in order to hand it to the demon.
"Thank you..." He managed to mutter as his maw pressed against his paws. He truly didn't like feeling this way... It wasn't right at all. Raising a brow Hatter shook her head and took the skirt. "Dragons..." S/he grabed a few of its own things and headed back out of the room. S/he would throw then in the wash and kill two birds with one stont.
"Sad, you are?" He looked over his shoulder as he headed for the libary once again.
Her shadow threatened to chase after the demon but it stopped just short of the door due to the light in the hall... That and the fact that Skye had no intentions of following the demon. She padded over to the bed, flopping gently back onto it to make herself comfortable.
"Dunno... Maybe..." He shook his head slowly as he yawned. Then again, maybe he was just tired.
The demon made its way to the laundry room and stuck the bits of clothing in the washer with some soap. They would be clean soon enough. Standing by the washer s/he wondered what was going on.
"Nap then...not in kitchen." It wasent healthy to nap in the kitchen. Hatter's pets had a habit of running though not carring who was on the floor and might get stepped on.
She stared at the ceiling for a moment before wriggling back further on the bed, making herself quite comfortable before closing her eyes. Yay for comfort...
He raised an eyebrow slightly as he looked up at Kuro. "Skye knows I'm here... She'll come back down and we'll leave..." Taking the long way back Hatter passed though the kitchen as Aara spoke. "I'll tell her you want to go home pup. Dont mind Kuro of he is rude, he dosent mean it." S/he said as s/he walked out and back up the stairs.
Kuro looked at Hatter, not saying a thing. He would get the demon back for that later.
Hatter would find Skye dozing soundly on her bed, hair falling in soft waves against one of the pillows. Her hands were crossed over her belly almost protectively, tail curled around one of her legs.
It wasn't that he had necissarily wanted to leave... He was just still slightly untrusting of the other Jivvin; not knowing where he'd want to take him.
Hatter shook its head. "well, that works.....they always say to let sleeping dragons lie." Hatter left the woman on its bed and headed back to the kitchen.
Kuro disapeared out of the room and back to the libary. He had more reading to do and if Aara wanted to sleep on the floor he would le thim.

"I've been waiting in the shadows..." Skye's Thoughts - September 16th Hatter... We're talking now. It seems so strange. Of course, something within me wants to continue talking to her. Maybe it's that darkness that keeps peering around the edge... Maybe it's something more.
I told her that I'd go visit with her again. I mean to keep that promise... It can't hurt to have one more friend.

__// The Darkness Within Hatter had its hair clipped back with something s/he had stolen from an ex years ago. The demon was still in its pajama's and eating cinamonrolls fresh from the oven. Kuro was sprawled on the floor near the a/c vent getting cool after being outside all day helping the demon in the garden. She made her way throught he forest much to the spite of the blue Jivvin who ran along beside her, trying to keep up with the woman who was waddling down the path to Hatter's house. Her size had doubled since the demon had last seen her and each curve seemed accentuated by the tight fitting fabric of her black, side laced camisole top. She had cursed the fact that her corsets no longer fit... The support would have been highly appreciated.
Her skirt swished about her ankles, fabric brushing against the tops of the slipper shoes she wore. She had also cursed the fact that she hadn't been able to put on her boots... "Damnable stomach..."
A pack was slung over her shoulder, containing what she considered the necessities. From the appearances of it all it seemed as if she was meaning to spend a great deal of time at the demon's house. She'd told Flarie and the children but she hadn't told the one person who truly might have been able to make her stop; her husband. The demon licked the sugar off its fingers and looked at Kuro. "You would make a pretty rug you know." The demon poked the jivvin as it walked by.
There was nothing important to do today, other than go to the store later and stock up on things. So s/he figured s/he would get to lay around.
She flickered a deadly glare at the vine as it tried to snake out and grab her leg, icey shadow creeping towards it in a way that sent the plant to fleeing. Once on the porch she dropped her satchel behind her, fingers wrapping on the door with determination. Aaralyn whimpered slightly, not liking his mistress's new attitude at all. Hearing a knock and demon blinked and headed for the door. Still slighlty peeved that its hair now reached its knees the demon yanked most of it up into teh clip and opened the door.
"Skye?!" "Took you long enough to answer the door." She huffed as she crossed her arms over her chest. With how large her stomach seemed it was almost as if her arms were merely resting on his belly instead.
Behind her the light blue Jivvin looked apologetically up at the demon. His ears were flat and his tail was drooping down along the floor, avoiding the 'evil' shadow at all costs. "Really? You look like a house, what wrong?" The demon looked at Skye wondering why she was here. "Shouldent you be at home letting your hubby fawn all over you?"
S/he could still feel something strange about the dragon that prickled on its nerves.
"Are you calling me fat?" She raised an eyebrow over icey blue eyes that seemed more draconic now then they had before. The slitted pupils almost appeared as if they could blink themselves without the aide of eyelids. "I don't want that... Man... Anywhere near my babies..." Her tongue flickered out over her lips at the last word... Was it forked?
Aaralyn stepped away from Skye as she said that, soft eyes pleading up at Hatter. "Dunno what's going on... Something though..." He said softly, avoiding the glare he recieved. Hatter raised a brow. Dragon...it was comming out for once. "Its not really a man and you are fat, well not fat full actually." The demon leaned on the door and motioned inside the house. "Get in here, dont just stand on teh porch."
Looking down at Aara the demon grinned. "Grab her bags and take them to Kuro, he can put them in one of the spare rooms."
"It was a man long enough to impregnate me." She hissed as she stepped inside past Hatter, tail flickering angrily behind her. "I'm tired of the simpering and being told what to and not to do... I'm tired of the saddness... I'm tired of the misunderstanding." She turned on her heel, blue eyes locking on Hatter. "There is darkness... You understand."
Aara was only too happy to comply with the demon's wishes. It meant that he would be away from the crazy woman for a while... Even if she was his guardian. He scooped the bag into his mouth and padded through the hall, dropping it long enough to bark Kuro's name. "I am darkness, understanding does not explain it." The demon said not looking away from the dragon. "Tell me everything and their will be no misunderstanding."
Kuro drug himself off the cool floor and stuck his head out of the kitchen. "...?" She reached out and took hold of one of the demon's hands, placing it firmly over her belly. A slight movement could be felt within... But not enough to mean anything vital. "There is darkness inside... Not from me... And certainly not from the father."
"Hatter... Said you would show me where to take this..." He said softly, eyes turning back towards the two creatures in the hall. "Something's still wrong with her... She's staying here." Hatter's lips curled into a slight snarel. S/he hadent felt the pluse of a Dark Dragon heart in hundreds of years. "Skye....they put something in you they shouldent have." Taking its hand away the demon looked at its friend. "What do you need?
He looked at the two in the hall and snorted "This way..." He waled out of the kitchen and headed for the upstairs bedrooms. "Shouldn't have..." She said, blinking her regular eyelids before looking back up at the demon. "But did. My babies will be here soon... I need you... To help me." She nodded slowly, tail flickering once more.
He picked up the satchel once more, trying not to trip over either it or his tail as he padded after the dark Jivvin. He didn't want to stay here... But he figured he might as well make the best of it... If there was a best to be made. "I'll do what i can." It nodded. "Come one, we'll get you settled into a room....and i will get things so you can nest." The demon had enough blankets and things that the dragon should be fine.
Kuro led Aara to a room near the back of the house, near Hatter's and pushed open the door. "Here..." It wasent a huge room but would be big enough for the time beeing. "The angel doesn't know I left..." She grumbled, hand returning to her stomach as she made to follow wherever the demon left her. "I am certain that It won't be happy when It finds out... Hatter, I don't want to see It."
He dropped the bag onto the floor before sitting down beside it. "Thanks..." He mumbled softly, ears flickering as he looked over at the dark Jivvin. Hatter pointed upstairs and let the other go first, incase she needed help. "Then it wont get in..." The demon made sure the House heard its words. If Hatter didnt want someone in its house then soemone wasent getting in.
Kuro nodded and flopped on the floor. He would leave when he knew Hatter didnt need him anymore. She eyed the stairs almost warrily before taking to them with a determination. One hand tightly grasped the banister while the other kept its touches on her midsection. All in all, she made it with ease... Or at least it seemed so until she reached the top, taking deep breaths to calm herself.
He remained seated, standing 'guard' over the luggage... Even if nothing would happen to it. Hatter reached the top of the stairs and rested a hand on Skye's shoulder. S/he wouldent help if the other didnt ask, but s/he wanted it to be known s/he was there. She looked back to the demon, smirk-like smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "I'm alright... You'd think I'd be used to stairs by now." Her voice had softened slightly for the first time since her arrival at Hatter's house. "Stairs are evil, you can be as use to them as you think and still fall on our face." The demon shruged and grinned. "Come on..." She headed for the room where she knew Kuro would have taken Aara. "Not everything is evil, Demon." She smirked as she followed after Hatter, shoulders arching where she felt the absence of wings that should be fluttering. "That's what you think." S/he grinned and pushed open the door. "Looks like the puppies got here alright." waving the dragon into the room Hatter closed the door. "Anything else you need for now?"
"Your company." She nodded as she stepped into the room, letting her slitted eyes flicker around. "I didn't come all the way here to be left alone in a strange room..." "Well then..." Hatter walked to a chair that was in the room, patting Kuro on the head as it went and flopped down. "Other than fat, annoyed, and stressed how have you been?"
She huffed, eyes narrowing as she looked at the demon. "I am not fat." She hissed as she sat down on the edge of the bed, leaning back on her hands in order to make herself comfortable. "I've been... Well enough. The darkness is acting strangely with everything else already within me." "I told you there was something amiss." Hatter left the fat comment alone. Skye was fat, she would have to get over it for the moment. "I can feel if from over here."
Kuro streched out on the wood floor and closed his eyes. It was one of the few times he didnt look like a mean coniving b*****d.
"The animals are all frightened by it... My wolves won't come anywhere near me. Aaralyn's the only one determined to follow me around." She shook her head, tail flopping against the mattress.
He looked up at the mention of his name, brow furrowing slightly as he took the context to mind. "'Cause something's wrong..." "Its a good thing he followed you, never know what it might have done had no one been around." The demon looked at the dragon. "You never know that darkness will do."
She snorted, giving a little shake of her head before shifting back against the bed. "It isn't trying to harm me... It's instinct, trying to protect the babies."
He snorted right along with his mistress, tail wrapping around his paws. "It's bad magic." "If harming you protects the babies it will." Hatter didnt like it. Dark Dragons were nasty critters. They had been know to kill themselves only to have eggs that would not survice since their parent was dead. "I dont think you should be alone until you have the eggs."
"Does that mean you're going to stay with me?" She smirked once more, eyebrow raising slightly as she eyed the demon from her lounging position. She looked more like a creature ready to prey upon something then a woman ready to give birth. "Not if you are going to look at me like i am food. Aara can stay and he can come get me if something happens." The demon looked at the jivvin. Her smirk turned into a pretty pout as she closed her eyes. "Fine, fine... I guess that will have to do."
Aaralyn's gaze shot up to the demon, a worried look tugging at his canine features. "Leaving me... 'Lone with her?" The shadows had tried to come after him more then once... Hatter got up and streched. "I will be less than 20 feet from here. My room is just down the hall." S/he said as the demon looked at Skye. "You will live? Remember you didnt marry me, i dont have to cuddle you when you sleep." She didn't grace Hatter's words with a response or any sort of visible acknowledgement. She simply lay there with her eyes closed, ignoring the demon completely. Looking at Skye, Hatter walked over to the bed. "You going to be alright if i go to bed?" "I'll be fine." She said as shortly as she could, dismissing the demon with a flick of her wrist, making it clear that she'd say nothing more then that.
The Jivvin padded closer to the bed, sitting down just beside it. He had a feeling that he wasn't going to sleep tonight... At all. "I'm going to bed then..." S/he reached down and patted Aara on the head. "Come get me if anythng happens." Heading for the door s/he left it open long enough for Kuro to follow and closed it. This night was going to be hell, Hatter could just feel it.
Once she was certain that both the demon and the dark Jivvin had left she stood, making her way over to the satchel containing her belongings. After attempting to bend and grab it several times, she was relieved to find that the Jivvin had moved in order to hand it to her. Fingers trailed idly over his head as she plopped the pouch onto the chair the demon had been in.
She stripped down slowly, taking time to feel each piece of fabric floating over her skin before setting it aside. From within her pouch she withdrew a simple silk shift, pulling it down over her body before crawling back into bed. Sleep... In a strange place... But it would be peaceful. Hatter crawled into its bed, stripping every thing off and sinking under the covers. The demon would try to get as much sleep as it could.

__//People don't lay eggs... But dragons do It had been dark for hours when the shadows hanging heavily in the air jerked the Jivvin into an odd sort of awakeness. There was something wrong... He could feel it everywhere around him and it wasn't just the 'bad magic'.
He sat up, light eyes searching through the darkness to find the source of the problem. It was his mistress... She was making strange sounds as if she were in terrible pain.
Knowing that he would tell her to stay put, he silently made his way towards the door, pawing it open before scampering down the hall to the demon's room. Once within he barked at the dark creature, pawing at the covers of Hatter's bed. "Awake! Now! C'mon... Bad magic!" The demon was curled up in its blankets, snug and sound asleep when s/he was intrupted by the Jivven. "huh...what?" The demon sat up and looked at teh pup. "Bad. Magic." He insisted as he hopped up onto the bed with Hatter, nosing the demon's arm persistently. "What don't you understand? Need help..." "******** Skye..." The demon tossed the jivvin off the bed and grabbed the nearnes pair of pants. Slaming open its door the demon ran to the dragons and snuck inside.
"Skye..."
Aaralyn rolled along the floor as he wsa tossed aside, recovering quickly enough to pad after the demon. His ears were flat against his head as he re-entered the dragon's makeshift 'den'. Skye was making horrible noises. "Something's not right... Bad bad magic."
She lay on the bed, arms wrapped protectively about her middle. Her tail thrashed against the bed, tugging at the soft silk fabric of her nightgown. Hatter felt the darkness in the room and walked over to the bed. "Skye." S/he didnt dare touch the dragon but got as close as it could. Her eyes flashed open, brilliant blue blazing with an icey chill despite the darkness around them. "Go away... And take that sneaky little mutt with you."
His tail bristled as he felt the emotions running high, his own feelings hurt by Skye's words. "I am not a 'sneaky little mutt'... I'm worried about you! Stupid woman!" "Im not leaving." The demon said slowly. S/he was not going to be intimidated by a pregnant dragon. "Im here to help and so is Aara." "I don't need your help." The dragoness hissed. "My babiesss... Not yourss." Her eyes were locked on the demon, calculating actions she may have need to take.
"You need someone's help!" He barked, hating how Skye was acting. "Someone needs to make sense in your head." Hatter leaned down so s/he was level with the dragon. "I am not here for your babies. I am here for you. " S/he put a stress on the 'your'. She shifted in order to prop herself up with one hand, biting back the pain as she glared at the demon. A growl of pain was raising in the back of her throat but she managed to keep that from her voice as she spoke as cooly as possible. "You said yourself: I didn't marry you. Go. Away." Being dismissed like that brought out the possessiveness the demon had aquired latey. "You are in my home, you are in my possession. I'm helping." The demon said just as coldly.
"Then I'll leave." She snarled, front fangs showing as she shifted on the bed. She was proud enough to try it... Even if she wouldn't get far. "I won't inconvenience you."
Sensing the tension raising and the darkness moving in, the Jivvin backed out into the hall... He was certainly not about to put himself between two crazy creatures. "Your not leaving" Hissing slightly the demon stood between the dragon and the door. "You need my help." "I don't want your help." Her eyes narrowed as she stood, tail flickering out in order to steady her. Even with that she was still stooped over slightly, clutching her stomach as if in a great amount of agony. "You have no duty to me... We aren't bonded." "Get back in your nest" S/he snarled. "Your going to hurt them." The demon could feel the darkness trying to force Skye to do what it wanted and it wanted her to lay back down. The demon was not going to let them get hurt. "I don't see why you ca--" Her words were cut off by a groan that she was unable to bite back, brow furrowing deeply as her eyes closed. It was all nearly enough to make her feel dizzy. Bitting back a remark the demon walked over and picked up the dragon before depositing her back on the bed. "I do...now listen to me." The demon wouldent hear a protest. No one else cared enough to be around for the dragon except the demon. The air 'lightened' up around the two in order for the dim light of the bedside lamp to be seen. "... Can't feel anything moving. It hurts." She whimpered, bitterness temporarily gone from her voice. "Eggs dont move." The demon noted as it settled the dragon on the bed. "Stop struggling and relax." Sitting beside its friend Hatter rested a hand on the others forehead. "Shouldn't be eggs..." She shook her head almost violently. "They moved before..." She was cold to the touch and yet it was almost as if she wasn't cold enough for she was still sweating. I hate dragons The demon noted. It was the one race s/he had avoided when it could. "Stay here, im going to get water..." The demon got up and headed for teh door. The Jivvin stumbled backwards as the door swung open, finding himself flat against the wall when Hatter came out. "Is she alright? Is the bad magic gone? It still feels bad... She's worried." Looking at the Jivvin Hatter shruged. "No, but she will be." Walking past the other the demon made her way to get a bowl of water and a towel. The dragon needed to cool off. He pondered following after Hatter but, after deciding that he would only get in the way, he peeked back into the room. He saw Skye lying still for the moment save for the slight movements accompanying soft whimpers. The demon returned a few moments later and, after shoving Aara gently away from the door, closed and locked it. S/he set the water on the bedside table and sat down beside Skye again. "Something shifted... But the babies still aren't moving..." She bit down on her lower lip as she looked up to the demon, despising the fact that she felt so weak. Hatter set a cold cloth on the dragons forehead. "Shifted?" S/he had never helped anyone before, read about it, but most things that worked in books didnt work in practice. The demon placed a hand softly on the dragons stomach. She nodded slowly, feeling slightly eased by the presence of the cool cloth on her head. Something within her reached for the feel demon's touch, magic seeking that which it was familiar with. "I... Think the babies are coming..." Hatter felt the presence and told it to be calm. Nothing was going to go wrong, the demon would make sure of it. "Now? ....You have everything you need?" She muttered something that sounded like 'I have you, don't I?' before giving in to another groan. One way or another the wee ones were coming... They had found something on the outside that seemed to soothe them and they wanted to meet the source. Settling itself on the bed Hatter took one of Skye's hands. "I said i would help....but i am not sure what to do." S/he didnt like admitting faults but the demon didnt know everything. She squeezed the demon's hand gently at first, grasp tightening as she felt an involuntary push rippling through her muscles. "I... They... Wouldn't let me in the room with... Flarie delivered Keith. Dunno... Other than breathe... And push." "Thats about all i know too...not to fight your body..." The demon took the cloth and stuck it in the cold water again before placing it on Skye's forehead. "Something's not right..." She gasped loudly as he body contracted once more. "Can't say what... Feels wrong." The demon put its hand back on the dragons stomach. "Wrong? How wrong?" There was no movement from within the woman's pregnant form save for the twitching of muscles trying to force the 'alien' entities from within the female's middle. Her hand reached up to grasp Hatter's arm, fingertips seeming more 'clawed' for a moment. Her draconic side was slowly becoming more dominant in order to see her though the delivery. Hatter was glad that the others body had decided it knew what was best. S/he ignored the slight pain from the others claws and rested its other hand on the dragons forehead over the cloth. "Dont fight it, just breath and dont get hurt." "Going to hurt anyways..." She snarled, forked tongue flickering over her lips as she pushed once more. Something moved within her, shifting lower 'til she could feel it. "I am going to kill that angel." "Yea, good, kill him later, he deserves it." The demon tried to say it with a light voice as s/he sat with its friend. She cried out as she pushed once more, nearly sitting up straight as her thighs parted to reveal a strange sac of sorts. The covering seemed oddly like leather in appearance and upon initial touch but, the moment the shadowed air closed in around it, the leather stiffened into something akin to the shell of a bird's egg. "... What did I say, dragons lay eggs." Hatter gently rolled the egg onto a towel. "It's an egg." She responded with a deep huffing breath as she relaxed back against the pillows, knowing that there was at least one more left within her... Hopefully no more. The egg was warm to the touch and a wash of soft contentment could be felt coming from it as the demon cradled it in the towel. Setting the egg in her lap, wrapped in the towel, and looked at Skye. "One down....more?" "Don't leave it in your lap... I'll bite you if it falls." She growled softly, her threat true even if it sounded weak. "No more... First one hurt enough." "Im not going to drop it, you should be holding it anyway." She said, It wasent her spawn, at elast not in the biologicial sence. "Here...." She held the egg and towel out to Skye. She shook her head violently in the negative. "Don't want to... Hurt it..." She hissed as she winced once more. "Don't want 'nother one..." Setting the egg back down she shook her head Well i tried, you didnt want it. Getting the cloth cold again the demon placed it back on the dragons forehead. "Its supose to hurt." "Damnable angel..." She snarled once more, muttering various oaths and curses beneath her breath in multiple languages ranging from Welsh to Elven and Draconic. Hatter hadent heard thoes words strung together like that before and had to stop herself from laughing. The angel deserved every one of thoes curses. "Angel is not important now... The babies are." She was about to slip into another strain of curses when a moan parted her lips instead. This second egg seemed to slip free much more easily, taking form in the same way that the first had. The demon placed the second egg in another towel and set it beside the other. "Two....twins." Hatter looked up at Skye. "Congrats, you ahve two eggs." Had she been awake she would have responded but, the second strange egg forced from her body, she had slipped into the first solid sleep that she'd experienced since the serum had been injected into her body. She was blissfully dead to the world. Hatter snickered and set the eggs safely beside their mother. Getting up s/he tisked at the mess on the sheets and went about quietly cleaning what it could. "Aara....you can come back." At the demons call the House let the door open once again. The Jivvin peeked into the room, eyeing the demon warrily before looking over at the slumbering dragoness. "Is she... Alright?" "She is asleep, but otherwise fine." sneeking into the bathrom the demon cleand itself off and came back out. "Thank you... For helping her." He said softly as he padded further into the room, curling up on the floor at the foot of the bed. "Bad magic is gone now..." The demon looked at the sleeping dragon and the eggs. "It will come back, in the form of two screaming children." Taking the cloth from the dragons head Hatter made sure both her friend and the eggs were confortable before dropping itself it a chair. "Not all babies scream... Keith was quiet." He nodded slowly before letting his head fall to rest on his paws. "You should sleep... Worked hard to help friend..." Waving hand the demon decided that it would rest in the chair before going to bed, sadly the creature was asleep before it knew it. He too was asleep after long, neither knowing what sort of strage suprises the morning would carry... For now, there was peace and a lovely peace it was.

__// Bring Me to Life Something had shifted in the room durring the night. Although the shadows had faded away to the soft glow of the bedside lamp, the chill had remained. A light mist hovered in the air over the bed where the mother dragoness had moved to curl up around her eggs, keeping them close to her body for mutual warmth. The blue Jivvin had his tail curled tightly around him, trying to fight back the coldness. It was crazy... The night had been warm... Why was it so cold>
Shifting in the chair the Demon eventually woke up as her joints cracked from the cold. "Fuc..cold.." Rubbing its eyes the demon sat up and looked around. "I Pay for heating what the ******** happened."
The dragon's breathing was slow; partially from the coldness, but mostly from sleeping. She had worn herself out in the 'laying' of the eggs, but her body had recovered quickly enough with the knowledge that she had to keep the wee things safe until they hatched. The Jivvin peeked out from beneath his tail as he heard the demon's words. "Ask the sleeping dragon..."
Snarling slighlty Hatter made its way to the bed and sat down on the edge. "Skye.....its cold!" There no real point in whinning to teh dragon but Hatter was tired and not really awake and didnt care.
The bed's movement caused the draon's tail to flicker slightly but it was the words that awoke her to the fact that there was someone close. Her eyes shot open, scowl instantly overtaking her face. "What are you doing? Shouldn't be here... Get back."
"Should too....cold, your fault" the demon's voice had a slight hiss to it and an accent on the words that the dragon had never heard. "Eggs, might get cold"
She pulled herself slowly to her knees, nudging the eggs back onto the pillows behind her so that she was between them and the demon. "Leave eggs alone, demon! Mine. You can't have them."
"I dont wnat them!" The demon glared at Skye. "Cold in here, cold for eggs. Might hurt them"
Her nose scrunched, eyes narrowing further. "Eggs are fine." She nearly growled, tail flickering beside her. "Not cold... Still too warm."
"Too cold..." The demon didnt like the cold, people always had the shadows wrong. No one liked the cold.
Well, the dragon seemed to like the cold just fine... Even if it was chilly enough to make her breath form a mist. "Don't like it? Go away then." She nodded before turning away from the demon in order to check her eggs.
The demon scoffed and stayed right where it was. It had helped it deserved to care about the eggs. No matter if the mother was a dragon and Dragons were not known for liking even their mates near their eggs.
Something in the back of the dragon's mind prickled about the demon's presence and, for a moment she relaxed. The air around her began to grow warmer... Enough to remind one of a cool night in the fall rather than a winter day without wind.
Relaxing slighlty Hatter leaned over so that its upper half was laying on a pillow. "You should eat." Hatter knew that after giving birth to teh eggs that the draogn would need to eat, but she probably wouldent think about it until long after.
"No." She shook her head, pulling the eggs into her lap and further away from the demon. Eating would mean taking her attention from the eggs and she wasn't willing to do that. They still needed her... And she didn't trust the demon.
Snarling again the Demon closed its eyes. If the dragon was going to be like that it would leave its friend alone for the moment. She would need the demons help soon enough, it could feel it.
She snorted, a puff of icey mist coming from her nose as she did so. That snarl... That was why she didn't trust the demon. She poked her eggs gently, turning one only to have it shift in her lap. "Stop that."
"Arent going to stop....they want out." The demon opened one eye and looked at the eggs. It didnt really like feeling things from eggs, but they wanted out.
"Too soon." She nodded once more, prodding the darker of the two shells gently. "S'why it was cold... Cold makes sure they don't come too soon. Must grow to be strong hatchlings." It was the draconic knowledge speaking... The woman who knew about the humanoid babies seemed to be forgotten.
"They know what they need....not all dragon." The demon mumbled as it snoozed. If the eggs didnt want its help anymore then the demon would leave them, and their mother, alone.
Of course, the eggs wouldn't let the demon snooze. The shadows within called to her as the eggs wriggled in their mother's lap. Her shoulder's raised as if waiting for wings to spread out defensively... It felt as if they should. "Demon... I can't hear them."
Resisting the urge to snarle the demon opened an eye again. "Lucky....wont shut up." it was actually slighlty pleasent to have something that could speak to it in its own language. "Yess little ones?" Looking at the eggs the demons voice had lightened to something akin to a sweet hiss.
The 'voices' from within the eggs were garbled as they tried to 'communicate' with the demon; reflected from within by the strange silvery tones of the inner shell. No matter what, one thing was clear... They wanted out and there was something still holding them within.
"They want out....but cant" Reaching out a hand slowly, incase the dragon decided to bite or claw at Hatter, the demon tried to set a hand on the eggs. It had a feeling that it and the dragon would have to break the shells.
She snarled, barring her teeth at the demon. "Can't get out... Not time..." She tightened her grasp on the eggs, tugging them just out of Hatter's reach.
Sitting up an snarling the demon looked at Skye. "Your hurting them. You cant keep them in there longer." Damn the dragon blood. If Skye didnt stop it the babies would get hurt.
"Can too!" She growled in return, tail thumping against the bed as it whipped to and fro. "Stay away, demon."
"Your going to hurt them!" Snarling the demon reached back and slapped the dragon. It was not going to take the babies getting hurt because a dragon was being stuipd. "Break the shells before they sufficate"
Her eyes went wide as her brain registered the slap. A slender hand came up to her face, warmth flooding her cheeks. "I... Can't." She murmured softly. "Myths... Most are born live... But those that aren't need to be called forth."
"Well they want out, so you better let them out." The demon raised a brow and crossed its legs under it. "I have no idea what you are talking about but they want out."
"Names... They need names." She shook her head slowly, silvery blue eyes drifting up to the demon's face. "Little ones need to be called... Told that it's time to be free, even if they wan't out on their own... I... We... Never talked about what we'd name one baby, let alone two."
"Then give me an egg....and dont be a spaz about it." Hatter held out its hands and nodded at the eggs. "Or at least hold one out so i can touch it"
"I wasn't being a spaz..." She flushed once more as she held the darker of the two eggs out to the demon to take hold of. "Just... Be careful, please?"
"You were, and im not going to hurt it." The demon took the egg offered. "'ello little one" the demon cooed at the egg. An image appeared in its mind, little king, that is what this baby would be.
She bit down on her lower lip as the egg was taken from her grasp. Reluctantly she let the demon hold onto it, fighting back the presence that didn't want her friend touching it. She turned her attentions to the lighter egg instead, fingertips smoothing over the shiney shell. Little one... I need you to help me... She closed her eyes, listening for the slightest whisper.
"Calista Adara... Come meet your mother and breathe the air..."
Setting the egg in her lap the demon looked at it and tapped on teh shell with a claw. "Rian Desmond, my little king" Leaning over the egg the demon whispered. "Can't let your sister get out before you eh?"
At the sound of the names falling from the lips of the two creatures holding the eggs, a small crack formed at the top. Generally, this would have been enough for the dragonlings within to finish the job with the tiny horns atop their noses but, as the wee ones within were humanoid that wasn't to be the case. Carefully, she chipped away at the crack until she could peel a piece back.
Gently digging a claw into the crack the demon pulled off a chunk of shell. The stuff was harder than it looked. Idly thinking that it was going to have to buy new sheets cause these would never come clean Hatter dropped the sticky piece of shell beside her and helped the little one break appeart more of the egg.
Piece by piece, she managed to set the shell aside until the tiny form within could be seen. "Calista..." She smiled fondly down at the little girl, carefully trailing fingers over the delicate horns atop the little girl's head. Eyelids opened slowly, pretty blue orbs sparkling up at the mother.
She reached for the sheet, pulling it up to gently wipe some of the goo away from the baby's face. "There there, wee one... You're alright now. Welcome."
Pulling a big chunk off the shell a light bluish wing fell into Hatter's hand as a bright green eyed baby looked up at her "'ello Rian." grabbing one of hte towles from the night before the demon brushed the babies hair aside. "Welcome"

__// Thunder Rolls She had made herself at home within the demon's house, rummaging through various rooms until she had found two suitable cradles for the babies. Her clothes, freshly washed, had been adorned once more. She was taking full advantage of the fact that the wee ones were sleeping, lounging on the bed herself.
She had thought about going downstairs to find something to snack on but decided against it, not wanting to be away from the little ones for any longer than she had to. It was safe in this room... Her nest... The hatchlings were happy and she was, for the moment, perfectly content. It was a vacation... Time to rest before taking the little ones home.
He had tried to stall as long as possible, giving the dragoness time to distance herself from the house before hunting WinK down. Having found the angel on the roof (heaven forbid anyone in this damned house be 'normal') he called out to him. "WinK! Your wife's missing... I think she went to have her babies. Aaralyn mentioned something about a demon and some 'dark red dog' if that means anything to you. There's only one demon I can think of..."
The demon was in the kitchen nibbling on a fresh batch of Cinnamon rolls and being glad the babies were not awake. It was remembering why it didn't like children, though these two weren't as bad as they could be.
Still happy about the house biting someone that had tried to come near it, Hatter assumed someone selling something, the demon grabbed a plate with a few rolls on it and, looking down at Kuro, headed upstairs. Skye would need food, even if she didn't want to leave the babies sides to get it. "Skye! Food, so you don't have to get up." The demon called as it entered the room with the food.
WinK looked down at 'Vyn and blinked, thunder lighting up the clouds above him, but he didn't flinch. "She went to her?" he asked quietly, but didn't wait for a response from the wolf boy. One wasn't needed, he knew where Skye had gone.
An emotion rolled in his stomach and he wasn't exactly sure what to call it. Fear? Anger? Betrayal? No ... Skye loved him, he knew that much. Why had she run off though? He took to the sky, flying through the clouds swiftly, the water rolling off of him as he sped towards the demon's house.
As he landed his wings splashed and disappeared, his eyes hard as he glared at the house. He'd gotten along with the house once upon a time. Probably not any more though. Walking up the front door, and growling at a few plants that reached for him as he walked up the front walk, he looked at the knockers and snickered before banging his fist straight onto the door, forgoing giving the knockers a bite. He knew they'd love more than anything to n** at him, but he'd rather tear down the door right now than give in.
She glanced up as the demon entered the room, bringing a finger to her lips to motion that the other creature be silent. "If you wake them I'll bite you... It won't be prett---" Her words were cut short by the sound of the wee ones wailing, breaking through the silence due to a rather loud knock on the door. Her maternal instincts brought her quickly to her feet, bending to lift the little girl into her arms while rocking the boy's cradle with her foot.
"Company? Doesn't sound happy..." Her tail flickered almost angrily behind her as she closed her eyes, letting a part of herself drift away. "I think my son has finally allerted my husband to my 'disappearance'."
Looking in the direction of the door the demon snarled. "I believe he has." Knowing who was outside her house, and the state of her friend, Hatter was not pleased. "I'll be back."
Stalking from the room the demon headed down the stairs and through the foyer. Looking at the carved wolf head above the inside of the door the demon grinned and slid the door open enough so that it could look out. "Well, well, if it isn't the winged wonder." The door slammed as the demon shrugged and looked up to the wolf guarding the door. "Don't let him in, anywhere."
WinK snarled and his eyes turned wholly white, fists reaching back to slam at the door, making sure to avoid the knockers. Blow after blow he landed, whispering nasty curses and insults. Wings, having reappeared, were spread out and fluffed up, making him look much bigger and far more dangerous.
"You'll let me in your hell-raised b***h!" he shouted. "I know she's in there!" He slammed his shoulder into the door, making it shudder a bit, but it didn't budge a single notch. He snarled and yelled, five voices coming from one mouth as he hovered above the front step, shouting curses as loud as he could in ancient languages.
Her eyes flared open as the curses travled in through her window. Her tail slashed through the air behind her... How dare he say such things within range of their children's ears! A scowl deeply set on her slender face, she set Calista back in the cradle, commanding Aaralyn to watch the wee ones. Her husband would hear her out about this... About cursing within range of their children and about making her leave their side.
She paded down the stairs, black skirt swishing against slender legs. She nearly kicked the demon's shin as she passed by it. "You let him in here now so I can make him stop! Nearly waking the dead with his pounding and if my wee ones have to hear one more curse uttered from his lips... I'll wash his mouth with soap. Babes shouldn't hear language like that. Ever. Especially not from their parents."
The demon was standing in the foyer doubled over gasping as it laughed. The curses coming from the Angel were priceless, even if they were bad. Hearing Skye come down, and bearly missing a kick in the shins Hatter knew she must be pissed if she left the babies alone. "Fine, if only you could understand him." Hatter yanked the door open "STOP THAT. Your going to annoy the entire neighbor hood, AND, your upsetting Rian and Calista." It shouted, still trying to hold back laughter.
WinK, seeing Hatter, opened his mouth to fire off another round of curses, even if she didn't understand the whole language (not many people did unless taught), she'd still understand the curses, when he spotted Skye. His eyes faded back to a deep emerald color as he blinked, his form slowly seeping back through the air until his feet touched the ground. Completely ignoring the demon's words he only had eyes for Skye.
"You're all right?" he asked, voice choking as he spoke. "The baby? Is the baby all right?" he looked the dragoness up and down, confused. Something was wrong, something wasn't the same.
She crossed her arms over her chest, eyes narrowing as she took in the angel's wrath. "Of course I'm alright... I've been telling you for months that I've been 'alright' and you wouldn't believe me." She would ignore any noises coming from the demon as well as the fact that the horned creature hadn't thought she was 'alright' either.
"The babies are fine... No thanks to your bellowing. Curses like that? I should wash your mouth out, WinK. Saying things like that in the presence of a woman let alone the presence of children... Wee babes at that."
Watching the instant change in the angel as he spotted Skye the demon bit into the back of its hand, hard, to stifle more laughter. Was it the demon or did Skye sound like she was scolding a child? Taking a deep breath and stopping the laughter the demon stood up straight and moved to stand behind Skye, inbetween the angel and the stairs, to watch the couple.
WinK blinked, stunned entirely as he moved to get closer to Skye, raising a hand to touch her face before he stopped, confused. "Babies?" he said. "What are you talking about? Skye, what's going on?" he said. He'd been worried sick, not knowing where she'd gone, the dragoness having closed off the connection between the two of them that seemed to have established. He'd been clueless, and quick to snap and quicker to pout. His eyes, even now, were tear filled, though none threatened to spill over.
She turned her glare on Hatter next. "Stop laughing, demon. That behavior isn't entertaining. I'll wash your mouth out too!" She nodded before turning back to WinK. "My eggs shattered and, within their shells, were two beautiful hatchlings. They were sleeping upstairs until you started with your bellowing and now that happy blue dog-thing is watching them."
The shadow, having broken down her mind to the most basic of dragon natures, had severed all ties to anything including the wolves that had been bonded to the dragoness. It was why they had feared being near her... They barely reconized her. Of course, with the babes born, she was slowly becoming her self again with the exception of the occassional outburst. "I wanted to find a nice dark cave... But Aara wouldn't let me. He insisted we come here because Kuro told him that Hatter would understand the darkness."
Hatter bit back another laugh and looked at Skye. "Yes ma'm" The demon really was trying not to laugh but this was too much. Wink was being, well, a whimp and Skye was being the uber mother.
The demon was keeping what bit of a mental eye on the babies as it could since Skye had left them. If something happened Hatter could tell the mother before Aara made his way downstairs. It wasn't going to say a thing. Anything it did say could be taken the wrong way and the last thing they needed was a mini war going on in the foryer.
Snapping a glance and a scowl at Hatter, more out of jealousy and slight annoyance than any lingering grudge, he returned his gaze to Skye. "Are they all right? Are they healthy? Happy?" Part of him was thrilled that his children -children! more than one!- were born, but another part of him was wilting. He'd missed the hatching ... he'd missed so much.
Taking Skye's hands, he kept his face turned down as he said quietly, trying to keep the hurt from his voice. "May I see them?"
"They are fine... Twenty little fingers and twenty toes between the two of them." She nodded slowly, letting a bit of the bitterness leave her voice. "They're perfectly healthy... And they were happily asleep until your little tantrum." She tilted her nose up slightly, standing as proudly as her petite frame would allow. "Hatter has been a wonderful host... Without her they never would have made it into this world... As much as you must despise the fact that I am here, it is because of the demon that our children are here and healthy." She let her gaze fall to the angel for a moment, remaining silent before speaking on. "You may see them... But if I ever hear you utter such words in their presence again..."
"They were happy until you started beating on the door" Hatter muttered almost silently. The demon was going to have to placate the knockers later and probably fix the wood of the door. The demon grinned as Skye repeated what it had muttered a moment before. "I'm not a her darlin'" Hatter corrected Skye before it had really though about correcting the dragon in this state.
Hearing the dragon tell the angel he could venture into the house didn't make the demon happy but instead of snarling as it would have before the Demon turned and headed up the stairs before them. Sliding into the room with the children the demon seated itself on the bed and reached down to pat Aara.
He nodded, a silent understanding. Not only did he feel upset for missing the babies' birth, but he felt like a man kicked in the balls for being in Hatter's debt for the saftey of his wife and children. Head still down he followed the demon up the stairs, one hand still clinging to Skye's as he marched without making a noise into the room where the babies were being kept.
He could tell right away Skye had laired here because of the dark nature of the room, but also from the comforts he knew she loved to relax in. Letting his eyes adjust he looked around for signs of the children. His children. He squeezed Skye's hand tightly.
Her tail flickered as she paused within the doorway, waggling her fingers for the Jivvin to come to her. Aaralyn came to her side eagerly, only to happy to have his mistress returned to a somewhat 'normal' state. After a moment she stepped inside, eyeing the demon resting on her bed before turning to the cradles where the two babes lay sleeping once more. "Your son... And your daughter..." She motioned towards the two before stepping back to allow the angel room to pass between the wee beds. Slitted eyes remained watchful and her stance was tense, draconic nature untrusting despite the woman's ease.
The demon rested back against the blankets, which had been changed to a nice earthy set of linen from the original black things. One of its eyes was on Skye and making sure the dragon's nature didn't so something stupid again and the other on the Angel. If he so much as lay a hand wrong on the babies wrong the demon would not hesitate to rip his wings off. And that was only if the demon got to him before Skye did.
Inside the cradles with the babies were the unicorn plushies that the Hatter had given to them along with enough blankets for baby dragons to nest.
Looking down at the pair he let his hand slip from Skye's, blinking in wonder at the two sleeping babies. Here, he could see influences from Skye. The dragonic wings, the horns adorned the little girl and he sighed softly, reaching a hand down to touch her cheek as gently as possible, just to make sure she was real.
Looking over at the boy his eyes swept over the dark skin and the wings. The markings weren't something he would have imagined would have appeared on their children ... he frowned, his finger touched the little boy's cheek just as gently as it had the girl's.
There was a strange aura around the babies, almost as if a cloud of unnatural shadow hovered above them. The angel's touch caused them to start, emerald and sapphire eyes blinking widely up at them. The shimmer of darkness faded just as it had appeared.
"They want fed, no doubt... Rian's always hungry and Calista would never push, but she has her moments of crying." She nodded slowly as she lifted the little boy, carrying him over to the bed in order to hand him to the demon before returning for the girl. She smiled up to WinK as she held the 'little princess' in her arms. "If you sit down... You can feed her."
Hatter didn't like the frown on the Angel's face as he looked at Rian. There was nothing to be frowning about. There were two beautiful babies that were his that he should be overjoyed to see. Not be frowning about something.
Blinking as Skye handed the demon Rian, it hadn't expected Skye to give it one of the children but cradled the little boy happily. Hatter couldn't reach the babies bottles from where it was but figured that Skye would hand the demon one when she was done with WinK. It just sat there smiling at Rian, brushing fingers though his hair softly and cooing at him.
With a glance at Hatter, holding the boy, he sat down, offering his arms for the little girl. "What are their names?" he said. He hadn't been paying much attention to Hatter earlier, and if the demon hadn't been holding the baby boy he would have happily ignored it's presense in the room.
They were beautiful, and perfect ... but the marks kept irking at the back of his mind. "Do these markings ... come from your family?" he asked quietly, a slightly confused look on his face.
She handed the little girl to the angel before reaching for the bottles, handing one to the demon and carefully settling the other in her husband's hand. The demon had helped her feed the babies before... But this was WinK's first time. "Their names are Calista Aldara and Rian Desmond..." She nodded slowly as she eased down onto the bed between the to other adults. "And no... The markings don't come from my family..." She bit down on her lower lip gently, sending an almost nervouce glance in Hatter's direction.
Taking the bottle she gave it to the baby, who happily grabbed the bottle and Hatter's fingers in the process, and settled him in its arms. "The markings are the Shadows mark on the little ones. As is the darkness in Calista's wings and the purple in their hair." Hatter didn't look up from Rian, not wanting him to hurt himself. "They make them lovely in their special way." Hatter didn't mention that the markings were also what made the demon in any connected to the children.
WinK looked down at the baby, half of his mind growling at Hatter's blaze' attitude, the other half blunted by the miracle in his arms as she drank from the bottle. Calista ... Rian ... they should have never been born. He shouldn't be able to hace children, and neither should Skye. They were a double-blessing. Even more so ... there were two.
Looking down into Calista's blue eyes he marveled for a moment before looking at Skye, frowning slightly. "How did the marks get to be there?" He didn't like the idea of his children tainted with Shadows. Glancing at Hatter he clamped his mouth closed again, focusing on the little girl in his arms.
"Do you recall mention of a doctor that I went to? The one that Moo took me to when I was feeling... Off... After that walk with Aaralyn?" She questioned as her eyes drifted back to her husband, lingering upon him for a moment before falling back to her daughter. "The 'doctor' was more of a... Dabbler in various draconic heritages. Rather than using silver dragon essence to strengthen me she used a shadow dragon." She paused for a moment, knowing that the angel wouldn't be pleased by that fact. "I.. Would have miscarried. The shadow in the essence bonded with them within me, making me strong enough within to carry them to term."
Rian drained the bottle rather quickly and the demon picked him up to make sure he didn't have any trouble taking it down. "My, hungry weren't we." The demon was mostly ignoring the others for the little boy but kept a slightly ear on the conversation going on a few feet from it.
Hatter had known that the Angel shouldn't have been able to have children and guessed that Skye, being a dragon, wouldn't have been able to carry the children to term. "The shadow makes them stronger, though different. If it weren't for the Shadows you would not have children to speak of…" Hatter didn't make mention that without help Skye, as her draconic nature took over, could have killed them also if it hadn't been for the Demon.
WinK continued to hold the bottle for Calista, smiling softly as she laid a small infant hand on his own as she looked up at him. "So beautiful," he said with a small smile, grinning softly. Listening to Skye he took the information in ... and thought. These were his children, and he would love them forever. Just because one possessed a Shadow taint didn't make them evil. He'd make sure they grew to be outstanding people, just as any parent would do. Looking at Skye he smiled and leaned over, kissing her cheek gently. "I'm just glad they're all right, and that you're fine."
Hearing Hatter his temper flared a bit. It was bad enough he wasn't there for the birthing, and that he could do nothing to protect his own family. "I don't need an explination from you," he said, his body and voice calm as not to upset the baby. "I can understand it perfectly enough, thank you." He returned his attention to Rian and wondered if the twins would be alike.
As it was, the twins appeared to be two sides of the same coin; both odd in their own ways but connected by the common markings on their soft flesh. "Yes, we're all fine... And we'll be well enough to travel in a few more days. Hatter has given the babes and I her blessing to stay until then." She nodded slowly once more, taking Calista from Wink as she began to get fussy. The wee one was settled on her shoulder, slender hand slowly rubbing her back. "She's been teaching me a few things about shadow dragons just incase something more than the markings have passed on to the babes."
"With the way you were looking at them, I believe you do." Hatter set Rian in its lap and smiled as he curled up against her leg and snoozed. He had a habit of doing that after eating, until he woke up and decided he wanted attention.
Looking up at Skye Hatter grinned. "I will give you a few of those books too when you leave, and you have my number and know where I live so if you have problems you can contact me." It really didn't think that Skye would have any real problems, but then again they were shadow creatures and strange things could happen.
"Well, then," he said, just as smoothly, running a hand over Calista's hair gently, "I don't need an explination from you." Turning to Skye he smiled and looked relaxed for the first time in days. If only she'd seen him, ready to tear things apart in her sudden absence. She would have yelled more, of course, than at his outburst down stairs. Luckily he'd damaged nothing but his own clothing while pacing and muttering around the house.
"I'm going to stay with you," he said, kissing Skye's cheek before kissing Calista's tiny head just as gently as he'd kissed his wife. "I want to stay with the babies."
Her shoulderblades rose and fell almost as if her wings were still there to flutter against her back. She continued to rock the little girl, remaining silent for a moment before returning her to her cradle, making sure that the yuniko plush was snuggly beside her as the wee one had taken to it instantly.
Her icey blue eyes then shifted back to WinK. "I know you do, WinK... But that final decision is up to my gracious host. I am well enough to travel but I refuse to take the wee ones out just yet... And I'll not have their welfare jeopardized by flying or transporting through portals when I know now how that will effect them. I wish to remain here until I am certain that they are able to be moved but, whether or not you stay with me is up to the demon as this is her home and I have already invited myself to the comforts of a bed that is not my own."
Stiffning at the Angels words Hatter turned and almost spit out a curse before it remembered what Skye had said to WinK. "You are not staying in my house." The demon said slowly. "Not while I am still in it" Listening to Skye words the Demon nodded. "The babies will not be going though nothing that could hurt them, espically when they are still this young."
Looking away from WinK to Skye the demon raised a brow. "I told you, you silly dragon that this is your room now. You are always welcome here."
WinK let the words sink in before getting up, his body completely stiff as he clenched his hands, head bent. He stepped outside of the room, before saying, voice rough as sandpaper, "Then I'll wait at home." He walked down the hallway and then down the stairs, barely containing his anger.
His eyes were slowly starting to turn wholly white again and before he could hit something (he remember the slumbering children) he stopped himself on the doorstep, looking up at the sky, which was starting to roll with storm clouds. He couldn't stay with his children, or his wife. He closed his eyes as anger raged through him for the second time today and debating going back in through the open front door to fight the demon, or to obey Skye's indirect orders to run home like a beaten dog.
Her brow furrowed as she turned back towards the demon. "Watch the wee ones... I need to talk to my husband." She sighed softly, bare feet padding down the hall and further on down the stairs until she stood in the doorway facing the angry angel. "Do you understand the decisions I've made, WinK? I can't risk harming the children... Not after all that it took to bring them into this world. Almost loosing them once... Almost being the one who caused them to suffocate within their eggs." Her voice quavered with that realization, having just voiced that latter fact for the first time. "I can't let anything happen to the little ones that shouldn't have been. They're precious... Worth more than my life will ever be. Their safety is what matters. Please understand..."
The demon nodded and stood with Rian to set him in the cradle with his plushie and tucked him in. "Sleep well little one." The demon grinned and sat in a chair by the cradles. Hatter was not going to go back downstairs when Skye had asked her to not. It was not the demon's place to get inbetween the couple. Cooing softly as Calista made a sound in her sleep the demon used its foot to rock the cradle gently until the little one was quiet.
WinK raised a shaking hand to clutch his forehead. Until 'Vyn had spoken up he hadn't even known where Skye was, let alone if she was all right. And not only had he learned she was safe, but he also fell in love with two babies that were of his own blood. Only to be told he couldn't stay with them in such a short time. It was torture, bent upon ripping apart any man's sanity, and he told her. " ... I love you, don't forget that. I love the twins as well ... so much ... " his throat closed up and he clutched both hands to his temples, unable to stand it he muffled a mutli-octave scream that resonated around him before taking off, afraid to stay near while he was so angry. He would never hurt Skye or the children, but while he was near that thing who had denied him his rights as a parent, he wasn't a safe creature to be around.
She bit down on her lower lip, swallowing hard as she watched the angel disappear into the distance. A part of her heart closed itself to the pain that threatened to overwhelm her; the knowledge that her children upstairs would need her keeping her steady. She only hoped that her husband would eventually forgive her for the choices she had made. She had to believe that they had been for the best... It was the one thing other than her babes that was keeping her steady.

__// The Wall Comes Tumbling Down
She made it home in one piece, having sent Aaralyn to go home and 'fetch' 'Vyn. He had carried Skye's things while she had taken the wee ones and, soon enough, they were all back home. Her son had warned her about her husband's 'disappearance' into his side of the house...
She sighed as she set the babes to rest in Keith's old crib, knowing that they'd be safe there for now while she tracked her husband down. This was something she'd known she'd have to face... She only hoped it wouldn't be too horrid.
WinK was sitting in the middle of the room, looking down at upturned hands. His heart was clenching and unclenching and his mind was going through all the nasty thoughts it could conjure: he was a bad father, a horrible husband since he couldn't even protect his family or be with them.
He closed his eyes and clenched his hands. The sores on his hands had healed, though still marked with blood. Dried blood caked his left cheeck where he had only bothered to close the cut to keep it from bleeding.
She checked the rooms in the 'joined' area of their two homes before delving more deeply into the home that the angel had brought to the spot next to hers. A strained bond could feel him but she kept it at bay, not wanting any of the raw emotion to get back to the babes lying asleep.
Finally, she came to the angel's old bedroom, stopping just outside the door before pushing it aside. Her eyes widened as they took in the torn appearance of the room. A wave of anger bristled through her followed by a rush of worry when she didn't see the angel right away. He had done all of this... Because of a decsion that she had made.
WinK's anger flared and he turned around, eyes wholly white as his mind raced, thinking of all of the possible people it could be, though at the moment he was raging at Hatter still. Upon seeing Skye, however, his eyes dimmed immedietely back to their emerald hue and his voice cracked, not having been used in days."S-Skye," he said, disbelieving.
"Are you home?" he said, wincing at his own voice. The question was a combination: the angel wanted to make sure that she and the babies were safe.
She shook her head slowly, letting her eyes close so as not to see any more of the scene before her. "WinK... Why?" Her own voice was strained as she spoke, wavering with traces of fear at what she'd see if she opened her eyes. She had seen the rage within him... What if he hadn't reconized her?
"I ... " he stopped, trying to find the proper words but was lacking at the moment, his heart pounding in fear. "I couldn't be there. For you or the twins. If something had happened ... " he closed his eyes tightly, squeezing his hands shut as he let his head drop, shamefully, "I don't know what I'd do. I love you."
"I... Love you too." She said softly as she shook her head. "You're hurt... What if someone else had been hurt? What if one of the children had been nearby?" Her brow furrowed, tears welling up beneath tightly shut lids. "You should clean up... We should talk..."
He jerked a little, surprised. "I would never, ever harm one of the children. Ever." His voice was firm, positive in his mind and heart to his words. Raising a hand to his cheek he nodded and stood up, groaning as stiff knees argued movement. Glancing at Skye he opened his mouth to say something and closed it again, looking away, ashamed, and walked into the bathroom.
When WinK was out of sight she leaned against the wall, taking a deep breath and releasing it shakily. She needed to be strong... For the entire family and, most of all at this moment, for the babies and for herself.
Slow steps brought her towards the bathroom where she watched the angel for a moment. "Are you alright?"
He was standing under the running water, clothes abandoned on the floor. Hearing her he looked up, the cut on his cheek nothing more than a thin white line now that he took the time to heal it. He wasn't sure if he wanted it gone forever yet ...
He gave her a shakey smile and scrubbed at his hair a little. "I am now that you're home, and the babies are here," he said with a sigh, feeling a great weight lifted off of his shoulders. He relaxed a little for the first time in days.
"Don't you dare ever do this again, WinK." Her voice was quakey as she spoke. "I... I don't want behavior such as this in my house." Tears were welling up in her eyes as she spoke, legs threatening to buckle. "Someone could have been hurt... You could have been hurt even more... And where would that have left me had that been so? Had you more blood flown from your body?" Another rattling breath came from her chest as she leaned back against the doorway. He stepped out of the shower, grabbing a towel for modesty as he was chastized, water evaporating from his skin slowly, leaving him clean and dry. His head was still down cast as he spoke. "I would do anything to protect any of you. You're my family. It's love I've never fully felt before ... I just didn't know how ... mad I would get if I was denied the right to protect those I love ... the most," WinK said, voice quiet, barely audible. He stayed a step or two away from Skye, his heart twisting at the fact she might be afraid of him now.
"The twins are down in Keith's room for now... I'll probably be moving them into my room before sleeping tonight so they don't wake him." She said softly, keeping her arms crossed over her chest for a moment. "We weren't in danger, WinKling... I would never put children of my blood in danger." Trying as hard as he could to keep the snarl from his voice he said slowly, calmly, "And how could I know that? I wasn't allowed to stay with you, or the children." He felt his angelic hackles rise again and changed his breathing to sooth his nerves.
She bristled as she felt tension rising in the air around her, fear in the back of her mind causing her to take a step back towards the broken bedroom. "You couldn't trust that I wouldn't do anything to endanger babes that I fought so hard to bring into this world?" She closed her eyes tightly. "I'm sorry you couldn't trust my decisions..."
Looking up at her with panic in his eyes, all anger washed away, he trembled at her body language, dispare washing through him. "I trust you with my heart and soul ... but that doesn't mean I wanted to do everything I could ... I'm a horrible father if I didn't," he added in a barely-audible whisper, afriad the words might be true.
"How could you be a horrible father when you've already raised two beautiful children? You've missed nothing that you wouldn't have missed had you been mated to a full blood dragon." She swallowed hard, tail wrapping around one of her legs. "It is our nature, WinK... It's a part of who I am."
He pulled this through his mind and rolled it over, thinking. It's true that Skye was a dragoness, and that her actions wouldn't be particularly normal. "Would you ... have me stay away from the children? If you think they'll be safer?" he said slowly. His heart was screaming no, but his mind was set on what was best for his children, evem if it meant a life without him.
"No... I don't want to not trust you." She said softly, opening her eyes to look down at the ground for a moment before gazing up at the angel. "Children need their parents... But I don't want your anger around them. The anger that destroyed this room? What if one of them did something to anger you? What will happen once their shadow sides develop, if enough of that was passed on?"
WinK tried his hardest not to laugh from relief, but also was amused by her question. "Skye, if one of thie children did something that upset me, the most I could do is ground them ... I have a hard time even doing that," he said, thinking about Aurora and Keelan. "And ... if their shadow sides persist ... then we'll work through it," he said firmly. "I want to be there for my family."
"Then you'll be there... But you must leave your rage behind." She nodded slowly, arms still crossed over her chest for the moment. "I can't chance it... I won't."
Shaking his head vigorously he agreed. "They will never see anything like this," he said, bowing his head. "I'll protect them, but if they're anything like their mother," he flashed her a tired grin, "They won't need it much." He felt almost useless at the moment, whipped and chained.
"Good..." She finally seemed to relax a bit, letting her arms fall back down to her sides. "I'm glad that you can understand me this time... That you've given me time to speak my peace..." She took another deep breath, releasing it slowly only to give way to a yawn. "Like I said, Calista and Rian are down in Keith's room for now..."
"Hey," he said, catching one of her hands with his own, touching her for the first time in days. "I love you. With all my heart, I want you to know that," he said, still looking down. "I'll love the twins with all my heart as well ... I missed you so much when you were gone. Please, next time, warn me?"
"I love you too, WinK..." She said softly as she squeezed his hand. "But I gave you as much warning as I gave the rest of the house. Aara was the one who told 'Vyn where I was going. A dragon has no mind for details when they're running away."
"I ... know that now," he said, squeezing back as he raised his eyes to look at her. "I just wish there was a way for me to know." Sighing and shaking his head he tried to force himself into happier thoughts. "Lemme grab some clothes, and we can go see the babies."

"I wish that I could fly into the sky; so very high just like a dragonfly..." Skye's Thoughts - September 22nd There's something wrong with me. I'm not at Hatter's anymore... I'm home. Back in my old bedroom with the babies in their cribs. WinK is still sleeping as I write this... He's so peaceful now. It's hard to believe what he was... What had happened before.
I feel... Funny. It's like there's something missing and I can't put a name to it. Maybe... Maybe this is that post pardum that you hear about everywhere. Is it really about the seperation of the lives within you? Or is it something more?
I'm going to go for a walk to clear my head... Or maybe a run... I need something to make me feel better.
later on that day
WinK, I love you... But I need to go home. I need to be amongst other dragons... To see if this is natural. I... I need my mother.
Please, never think that I am abandoning you or our children. I'll return soon. Flarie will help you with them and, like it or not, Hatter is going to stop by to check on their development. Please please be kind to it... For me.
I love you and I'll return as soon as I understand... I promise.
I'm taking Aaralyn with me... And one of the messenger birds so that I can write home. I'll check in... You'll have to write back and tell me everything. Remember, I love you.
Always,
Skye She left the journal open where the angel would see it, hoping that he would understand. She needed understanding... From both of them.

"We are one, you and I. We are like the earth and sky. One family under the sun..."
Skye's Thoughts - October 13th It's good to be home. I didn't realize how much I'd miss everything... Even if I truly should have... And I really did miss everything... Including Flarie's rotten cooking.
I missed my babies. Eventually I'll have to send Logan to bring my mother here along with Uncle Sylfaenol. He's miserly... But 'Vyn might just like him. Besides, they know quite a bit about draconic heritages that I simply didn't. I may have learned many things by growing up away from them, but I have missed out on other things.
I want to make sure that my three children don't miss out on anything.
Keith has gotten so big and he's trying to sink into the role of 'older brother' so nicely. Of course, I think that secretly he may not like the twins nearly as much as he lets on. He's used to others that are his age or older who will run around and play games... Not little ones who need to rely on the older teens and adults for everything. Maybe he'll simply let the idea grow on him once the twins are older.
Older... I can't believe I'm even thinking about that now. They've just recently arrived and already I find myself thinking about what they'll be once they can run around. I shouldn't be thinking about that.
As a matter of fact... I'm done thinking now. I'm going to go and appreciate their beautiful babbling baby smiles. I think we'll go sit outside in the back yard today... The fairies have been trying to get inside to see them all week. It'll simply be easier this way.

__// Ohana Means Family He knew that his Nodel-mam had been home for a couple of days. She'd sent for him the day she had come home to spend some time with him. It had been nice... But then she'd left again to talk about the babies with the demon-lady-man.
He had kept himself busy, drawing pictures for both of his mothers and pesting 'Vyn and Laire about Halloween. This was going to be his first one and he'd heard lots and lots of really fun things about it. As a matter of fact, his older sister, Ash, was born on Halloween. Or, at least, that's when everyone said she'd come to live with them.
Either way, he was determined to go spend time with his Nodel-mam for a bit.
Upon entering the room that he had once run to when he'd had bad dreams, he saw her sitting there holding the girl-baby. She was fussing and making bad noises that made his nose scrunch. "Babies make alot of noise." He nodded as he crawled up onto the bed beside her.
She turned her head, smiling softly at the little boy. "Not all babies, Keith... You barely made a peep when you were this little." She nodded slowly, lowering the little girl so that her big brother could have a better look at her. She stopped fussing, eyes glittering as she gurgled at Keith. "I think she likes you..."
"Why can't they not make a peep?" He grumbled once more, little arms crossing over his chest, his look only softening when he looked over at his new sister. "Why would she like me?"
She chuckled softly as she stood up, making her way over to the cradle to lay Calista down now that she was calmed. "Because you're her big brother and she knows it? Sometimes big brothers are really important as far as little sisters are concerned. They take care of each other... That's part of what being a family's about."
He seemed to ponder that for a moment before hopping down from the bed. He'd have to go do some thinking on this 'family' thing. For all he knew, Nodel-mam might've just been saying that to get him to like the little noise makers.

Skye's Thoughts - October 25th It has gotten to the point where it doesn't seem like either of the twins are completely content with milk suckled through a bottle. No more than two hours later they'll cry, wanting more and there's simply only so much milk that I can supply... Just as I believe that there's only so much formula that a baby can intake before it's time to try something else.
I decided to try cereal.
For a first attempt I'd like to think that it went well enough. Calista took to it well enough; with her little baby smiles and her willingness to try something that seems to make her mother happy. Rian, on the other hand, lived up to his title of tyrant. He furrowed his little brow and insisted on spitting everything right back out at me. Eventually, he gave up on that technique and took some of the cereal in.
All in all, I'm certain that it could have been worse... But at least they're not hu
I spoke too soon. I hear crying again.
Keith was such a quiet baby...

"Love's our shadow on the wall with the face of God..."
Skye's Thoughts - November 14th All Hallows Eve has been known to bring strange things to the house... Last year it brought my dearest daughter, Ash... And this year? It has brought a shadow that lurks about the house 'observing' the actions of myself and my wee ones. Its name, as I have been told, is Raz... Neither the demon nor I are quite sure what it is short for but I plan on doing a bit of research as I finish this entry... I simply wanted to let you know that yes, there is another angel in this house and no, I am not happy about it.
The twins, on the other hand, don't seem to mind it. There have been a few mornings now that I've woken late to find them giggling at something that simply isn't there. Durring times when usually they would cry they seem to be entertained by this strange presence... And the tiny gifts that it brings them.
If I find my little boy chewing on another pendant I'm going to pluck someone's wings.
On another note, the twins are crawling now... Or rather, they're attempting to. Rian is showing more ambition in this area than Calista. If I'm not around to keep a strict eye on them he'll attempt to use her as a base to push himself up whereas she would be more content simply rocking on her hands and knees.
I dread the moment when they begin walking... Nothing in the house will be safe enough... I'll have to pad every corner and plug every electrical outlet. Goodness... Maybe I should go start doing that now.
