18 August

Master Tucker laid upon his bed, books scattered among it as evidence of another night spent studying. It was almost painful to wake him from his sleep, but it must be done. As I can only take corporeal form under his command, I had only one option, signal him mentally.

As soon as I did, he muttered, 'Livvie, why must you wake me?' But as usual, I could not answer. He moaned and stretched, slowly awakening from his dream world. Reaching over with his right hand, he clasped around my leather binding. 'Hopefully you give me good news.' And with this he opened me, flipping to page 364, random to him, but I had to know where to send the information.

'Betrayer Kai is seeking a child. One that could be foreseen to our disadvantage.'

His brown eyes opened wide as he stumbled of his bed and ran. He shouted to me, 'Where is Lady Riddle?' And opened me this time to page 42.

'She is dining with Captain Roderick and Izumi in his eating quarters.'

Right. Thanks Livvie.' So he went. Having difficulty breathing while carrying me since he never trained.

As usual, my information was correct. He found the three of them eating along with Sophie serving them. She was pouring some coffee into the Captain's cup. 'Mister Tucker!' Surprised at the interruption.

'Courtesy shall not be forgotten, should it now, Tucker?' The Captain took a sip of his freshly poured drink.

As soon as his breath settled, he bowed. 'My apologies, My Lady. Captain. But Olivia has received information on Kai's activities.'

'Continue.' The Captain spoke again.

Izumi watched Master Tucker, but continued to grab bits of vegetables and shove them in her mouth.

'It would be best from her.' Master Tucker carefully placed me upon the table and laid his left hand over my cover.

At that moment, my corporeal form was released once again. I bowed to both Lady Riddle and Captain Roderick. 'I have seen him on Dysleria. Along with Skyros, Thrice, Dylan and Madison. They seek a child, although I cannot see it. Only what I could gather form the small conversation I saw.'

'Dysleria? Not wise place to hide.'

'Kai was not always the most brilliant. I'm sure his thoughts were less chance of being seen since no one lives there.' She held a cup of tea in her hands and sipped it softly. 'Is there more?'

'Nothing that would prove useful, My Lady.' I bowed once again.

'Very well. You may return.'

With her words, Master Tucker removed his hand from my cover, returning me to my pages.

'Sophie.'

'Yes, My Lady?' She bowed.

'Please care for Izumi. A bath and bed should be plenty.' Lady Riddle carefully placed her teacup on the table and made to exit the room.

'Yes, My Lady.' Sophie confirmed and began cleaning the food off Izumi's face.

Master Tucker took me from the table and followed Lady Riddle and the Captain out. He however stayed quiet as they discussed how to deal with the new information.

'My Lady.' The Captain began. 'Cue, Basil, Tobey, Mariska, Hayden and of course, Tucker?'

'I'm tempted to bring everyone possible. It has always to bring everyone possible. It has always been to my advantage to not underestimate Kai.'

'As you wish.'

'Also inform Gaelic he will cover Tucker.'

'There is no need to worry over me, My Lady.'

'Just as well. Olivia is important to keep possession over. When she is not in mine, situations are more difficult than necessary.'

Master Tucker blushed. I could feel his grasp on me tighten.

***

Dysleria. An uninhabited planet covered in deserted lands. Last studied by My Lady's subordinates 12,396 years ago.

My Lady's current subordinates confronted the Betrayers easily.

Lady Riddle hunted Betrayer Skyros, who kept custody of the child, followed closely by Cue and Basil.

Betrayer Skyros held the child tight to his chest as the trio positioned themselves around them. He continued to stare at Lady Riddle with his emerald eyes. He had never been able to out smart My Lady, so he considered her to be the biggest threat to their plans.

'Don't be foolish, Sky. Give me the child.' My Lady spoke to him coolly. He was outnumbered, but he had more experience than her two comrades combined.

'Master wishes for the child. I shall keep him safe from you.' He snarled.

'How dare you call him "Master"!' shouted Cue.

'You know nothing but servitude to this woman. You had freedom once.' His eyes never left Lady Riddle. However, he did not give a chance for response. Betrayer Skyros created a dust storm around Basil, then sent her straight into the air.

'Basil!'' Cue called and went after her.

Betrayer Skyros smirked at Lady Riddle. With sprouted crow wings, he took off form the ground in escape.

But Lady Riddle was not fooled. His attempts in distracting her with Basil's safety did not mislead her attention. She reached her right hand out, summoning Igby, her double bladed staff with which she quickly threw at Betrayer Skyros. While in midair, she used her powers of manipulation to create a net, which enclosed Betrayer Skyros and the child before tying itself up preventing use of his wings.

As he plummeted to the ground, Betrayer Skyros contemplated how to escape the new situation.

But inches before the ground both had stopped falling and hung in midair.

Lady Riddle reached her right hand out once more, this time vanishing Igby. She took the child from Betrayer Skyros' grasp as he was still unable to move.

Captain Roderick showed himself, since he held the power of telekinesis. He noticed a while staff with a glowing teal orb attached to Betrayer Skyros' back, which he took, knowing it did not belong to him, but perhaps the child.

Betrayer Skyros could only move his eyes as he watched bother Lady Riddle and Captain Roderick destroy his mission.

'What shall we do with him, My Lady?' The Captain tossed the staff to Basil, who was being held by Mister Cue due to a twisted ankle.

My Lady held the child and brushed a bit of his teal hair out of his tiny face. 'You shall tell Kai we have his precious treasure. And if he come to reclaim him, I will kill him.'

The Captain released Betrayer Skyros, who fell upon the ground.

Betrayer Skyros tested his wings again, this time being allowed to escape.

19 August

'You have all been called because the new child needs a caretaker.' Captain Roderick began the meeting.

Lady Riddle sat in a puffy chair sipping tea that Sophie had brought to her.

'We can take him. Tenley offered as she cooed with Izumi. 'I've been wanting another child.

Mariska winced. The thought of a crying child in the middle of the night was still too fresh in her memory even after the few hundred years.

'I can take him.' Cue also offered. He seemed quite proud of himself, although he had no idea how to actually care for a child.

Basil gently placed a hand upon his shoulder. 'The child should really be given a chance before corruption.' She teased.

However, Cue glared at her for the comment.

Gaelic sat in a corner, eyes closed reading the thoughts of those in the room. Naturally, the only hidden ones were those of Lady Riddle and Captain Roderick. The most peaceful mind belonged to Master Tucker. In fact, he wasn't even concentrating on the conversation. 'I nominate Tucker as position of caretaker of the child.' Gaelic interjected.

'What?' Cue said, half-laughing. 'Him over me? He doesn't even use attacking powers.'

'I approve of Gaelic's nomination. Tucker is declared the caretaker of the child.' Lady Riddle stated quietly before another sip.

'No, he's too young.' Tenley added. 'He's just a child himself.'

'Our Lady's wish will be done. No arguments.' Captain Roderick stopped her firmly.

Cue stood staring in disbelief.

The Captain, who was holding the child, handed him over to his new keeper.

Master Tucker looked at him confused trying to shuffle the book he was reading and the child. 'I...But...' Lost for words, he looked at the child.

'I have faith in you. I've always found that unpredicted circumstances can lead to interesting results.' Lady Riddle smiled at Master Tucker, who meekly smiled back.

Basil held the child in her lap, gently stroking his hair. 'Have you come up with a name?'

'Who's to say he doesn't already have one?' Master Tucker sat opposite her, nose deeply in a book.

'Well then, have you asked Olivia?' Basil held a finger up to the child's hand as he grasped upon it. 'Oh children are so cute. Don't you think? I remember when you were this small.'

He lowered his book, brown eyes watching Basil in hopes of some information of his youth.

But she only laughed as the child hiccupped. 'So?'

'Asked Livvie?' He reached behind him and placed his palm upon my cover.

Once again I took corporeal form. 'Yes Master Tucker?' I bowed to him, already aware of what he called up on me for.

'Please input the marking on the child's face to retrieve information on him.' Master Tucker ordered.

I bowed once more and went to the child. He was giggling as Basil tickled him. Carefully I placed my hand on his left cheek. The butterfly marking soaked into my hand, copying the data. Instantly a name revealed itself. 'Phace.' I stated.

'Yes, that is a face. But we want information on him.' Master Tucker closed his book in his hand by the binding.

'You mistake me, Master. His name is Phace. P-H-A-C-E.' I corrected him.

'Strange.' Basil muttered.

'Anything else?' Master Tucker questioned.

'Not at this moment, Master.'

He removed his hand from my cover and I returned to my leather bindings.

'Phace.'

'Phacey-poo.' Basil attempted in waking he child. 'Phacey.'

'What do you do with a baby?' Master Tucker looked over her shoulder down at the child.

Basil gave him a dirty look. '"What do you do?" What kind of question is that?'

'A reasonable one, I thought.' He sighed and leaned against the crib. 'I only ask because I don't understand why I must take care of Phace.'

'Those are not questions for me. Lady Riddle and Mister Gaelic were the two who chose you.' She bend down and picked up the sleepy infant.

'Why are you always here anyway?'

'Never satisfied.' Basil stated after a heavy sigh. 'I figured you'd like some help with Phace. Plus I like children and the Captain is always too cold, so I don't bother him for visits with Miss Izumi.'

'You sure Cue is fine with all your visits here?' Master Tucker showed a particular interest to the answer of this question.

She giggled and walked to a chair while holding Phace. 'Cue has no say in any aspect of my life. We are just merely roommates. How many times am I going to have to remind you?'

Master Tucker blushed, but turned his head so Basil would not notice.

'Well, he's not necessarily an infant. Young, yes, but I believe he could be quite a good learning sponge.' She brushed a hand down his cheek, his tiny mismatched eyes not wanting to wake.

'I can't read books to him.'

'Why not? You have plenty of them.'

'You expect him to understand literature? It'd be overload. Plus, I have no books for the simple minded.'

'Well, ask the Captain what you should do. He's helped raise plenty of child.' Basil looked up at Master Tucker. 'As long as you don't ignore him, I'm sure anything you do will be fine.'

'Getting much sleep lately?' Basil held Phace upon her hip as he clung tightly to her baby blue corset. It's lacy strings entwinded between his small finers.

Tucker nodded. 'After the first few nights, I began to let Livvie care for him as I sleep.' He walked beside Basil down the usual daily path they take. He held his left arm behind him as the right stayed to his side.

'Olivia?' An eyebrow raised. 'Don't you have to will her into existence? How can you keep that state of mind at rest?'

'I had been practicing it for about a year now. Lady Riddle has always encouraged me to test my limists.' Tucker looked up at the tree branches that stood a few hundred feet above them. 'Although, I admit, I never really thought of a purpose for having Livvie released at the type of time.'

'She must have found good use for it in the past.' Basil held Phace above her. His tail flicked with excitement, but as he gurgled, a blob of spit fell onto her forehead. 'Ewww!'

Tucker cracked up and took the infanct from her. 'Aw. He didn't mean to.' He smiled at Basil while Phace began drooling all over the hand in his mouth.

'As I was saying,' Basil wiped the spit from her head and continued the conversation in hopes of forgetting the incident. 'Lady Riddle knows out powers better than we do ourselves. Our capabilites, our limits. All of it. It's disturbing. When I ponder it too much...' She fell quiet, almost ashamed of the way she spoke of her master.

Tucker wrapped an arm around Basil's shoulders. 'Don't worry, Bas.' He kissed her softly on the top of her head. 'Try not to have those thoughts. We don't need Lady Riddle distrusting us this time.' He kept his arm around her shoulder and looked at Phace who clung onto him. The child wrapped his black tail up Tucker's arm and wiggled this ears while staring back at his keeper.

Phace sat upon the ground, a pile of multi-colored blocks placed before him that Master Tucker had recieved from Tenley. She had told him they were once his favorite toys as a child and hoped Phace would enjoy them just as much. The infant showed little interest in the blocks, but instead more fascinated by Master Tucker who paced the room.

A dream had haunted his current conscience. He nervously bit is right thumb nail, eyes frequently taking glances at the child. The dream had been filled with greed and power. Not much detailed was remembered, but a silloete of a grown up Phace in front of a massive amount of rubble that Maser Tucker assumed to previously exist in the form of a village. Master Tucker would had not been so positive that the being was in fact Phace had a marking on its face that matched the infant's been glowing a shade of teal.

The infant continued to watch Master Tucker, the end of his black tail flicking with interest. His mismatched eyes followed his caretaker with every pace he took. Phace could sense the tension emitting from Master Tucker although he ws not completely sure what it meant.

Something rapped against the front door, a distraction that Maser Tucker quickly went to check on. He hesitated at the handle, almost as if there were a great chance it could be dangerously hot. His hand slowly gripped around the knob and opened the door. Nothing. Confused, Master Tucker peaked his head around the corner to see if perhaps the vistor was out of his immediate range of sight. Still no luck. Master Tucker frowned and closed the doors. He stared at it's wood markings, thinking he might be going mental over worrying about his dream.

Once returning to the living area where he left Phace, Master Tucker noticed that the child did not stay were he was left. Panicing, Master Tucker rushed to each piece of furniture, looking under, behind, and around each piece for Phace. Lost in thought of where the child could possibly be, he looked up at the doorway he entered the room through. There sat Phace, staring at him. His tiny eyes seemed to drill holes into Master Tucker. Finding the child did not seem to calm Master Tucker's nerves. Instead, his heart began to beat faster. The child seemed to scare him.

The light shined down through the trees along the path to Master Tucker's house. Basil carried Miss Izumi in a carrier attached to her back, it's straps itched her shoulders. She ignored the nuscense due to the destination she headed towards. Her determination to spend as much time as possible with Master Tucker made her act a bit out of character lately. Ever since Lady Riddle has assigned the care of Phace under Master Tucker's watch, his time has been less available from before. Her excuses to visit with him began to run thin. After a suggestion for a play date with Miss Izumi, Master Tucker agreed if she could possibly convince Captain Roderick from releasing Miss Izumi from his clutches he would spend the day with them along with Phace.

Relentless flew around from tree to tree, searching around for anything that could be interesting. Unfortunately, all the trees around Master Tucker's home did not bloom flowers which he could feed off of.

Once reaching the front door, Basil adusted her dress from under Miss Izumi's carrier. Once ready, her hand reached and gently knocked upon the door. A few moments had passed with no answer. She frowned slightly while waiting paciently after a second knock. But she began to grow worried when Master Tucker did not answer the second time as well. The curtains were shut over the windows, but a slight crack along one of the edge caught Basil's eye. She peeked through, wondering if she could see if Master Tucker or Phace were there. Master Tucker sat upon the couch, biting his nails and staring off in space.

I opened the door catiously. 'Hello Miss Basil. What may I do for you?'

'What is wrong with Tucker, Olivia?' Basil questioned as she turned her head to look at me. She stood up straight after bending down to peak through the window.

I paused a moment, before answering her. 'Master Tucker has been a little under the weather lately. He's not in any condition to have visitors. I believe it would be best if you left him be for a few days. I can send word when he is better.'

Basil did not take to this answer. She stomped her foot in front of the door before I could shut it. Her eyes locked with mine, her lids grew narrow with curiousity. 'I'd like to see him.'

'My appologies, Miss Basil, but Master Tucker does not wish to visit with anyone. Please remove your foot.'

She continued to stare for a few more moments before retracting her foot, allowing me to shut the door.

I hummed a mellow, soothing melody to Phace as I held him within my arms while Master Tucker slept in his room. It was a family lullaby that Allison (two previous masters before my current) had discovered as she explored her life before becoming my keeper.

Phace seemed pleased with the melody noted by the soft purring emitting from him. His black furred tail twisted up my arm as if ensnaring me rather than me holding him.

His eyes wandered the room, staring at objects for no more than a few moments at a time until I passed the living room window. Fixing his eyes intensely upon it as if curious as to what the other side held.

The change in behavior intrigued me, so I walked towards to window and peered outside. With no form of light outside the house, only complete darkness could been seen. Suddenly a hand appeared on the window, causing me to jump back in shock. Another hand appeared and knocked gently upon the window. The hands disappeared into a black smoke surrounded with a magenta haze and moved through the window into the room. The smoke took the shape of a person and produced Cue before me.

'Evening Livvie.' He smirked and nodded his head in greeting. He began to scan the room, craning his neck to look behind me. 'Tucker around?'

I pulled away while holding Phace tighter to me. 'Master Tucker is resting at the moment. We do have a door. Please remember to use it when you next visit.'

'Shame.' He walked around me towards Master Tucker's room.

I grabbed his right arm and stared into his magenta eyes. 'Please do not disturb him. If you do not return to your quarters at once, I will be forced to take your disobediance to Lady Riddle.'

'Alright, alright.' He pulled his arm out of my grasp. He knew that if he caused any havoc, Lady Riddle would reconsider her appointment of him as replacement for Gaelic. 'Being a bit too touchy now, are we Livvie?'

'Please to not refer to me with that name.' I turned and continued to hum to Phace.

'Oh? So only precious Master allowed you call you that?' He touched the golden locks that caressed the left side of my face. ' Let me have the child. Only for a moment.' He said the last statement with an attempted innocent glance. Phace showed interest in Cue's presence. His tail began to unwind from my arm and reached a tiny hand to Cue. 'See the child wants to be with me. Only a second. Please?'

'Unfortunately I cannot allow that Cue. Return to your quarters as I requested.'

'Ummm, no.' He smirked again while he moved closer to me. Due to his advantage in height, he loomed over me until my back hit against the nearest wall. 'Give..me..the..child.'

I stared at him confused, trying my best to hide the anxiety I felt from his presence. 'What do you need with Phace.'

'Not important.' He placed his finger upon my nose and rolled it down my body before grabbing Phace from my grasp. As soon as Phace was in his arms, Cue had wrapped his smoke around my body hindering me from movement. 'Tell Tucker that I'll be using Phace for a bit.' Cue opened the door and slammed it shut behind him.

Cue began to walk down the dith path which lead from Master Tucker's home to Lady Riddle's estate. He held Phace in his arms after tearing the child away from me. This behavior did not match his usual compsure, however this drastic change seemed to begin around Phace's arrival into ur care. What could this child possess that culd have caused someone to completely change his character? And how did he first reach the hands of Kai and the rest of the Betrayers?

Cue's pace grew faster the father he got from Master Tucker's home. Panic rose within him, unsure as to why he had done this horrible act. He avoided the child's eyes although Phace did nothing but stare at him. His tail had now ensared Cue's arm, his tiny hand gripping onto his holder's coffee colored shirt.

'Getting ourselves into a bit of trouble, hmmm?' A voice behind a passing tree uttered.

Cue has stopped, breating heavily. His eyes scanned the darkness attempting to find the voice's owner.

A women with matching looks to his own rolled around the tree trunk, reveiling herself to Cue. 'Some~one's~in~trou~ble.' She sand and stuck her tounge out teasingly.

'What do you want Basil?' Cue stepped back from the women, keeping his eyes on her. A part of him was confused as to why he didn't sense her presce before now.

'Lady Riddle will not be please done she hears what you did to Olivia.' Basil walked her fingers up Cue's right arm and tickled his neck. 'Or you could just hand the child to me and I'll keep your secret.'

He kept staring at Basil and held Phace closer to his body. 'You can't have hi,. It should have been me Lady Riddle choose.'

Basil squinted her eyes in confusion. 'What in the bloody hell are you going on about? You didn't say a word during Lady Riddle's decision meeting. Are you well?' She reached up a hand in attempt to feel his forehead.

Cue stepped back, tilting his head out of Basil's reach. 'Keep your mits off me.' he snarled. He walked around Basil to continue down the parth to home.

Basil let him pass nd ran over to Master Tucker's home.
