She frowned, thinking. "A month, I think. I haven't really been keeping track of the days."
Smiling, she pointed to a patch of ground next to him. "Mind if I join you?"

"Ahhh... no no problem. I was just out here singing." Timothy rubbed his neck "You probably heard."
Timothy was always akward around women, but atleast she seemed nice. She was going to be a bird too, which was kind of neat.
"What about you, what brings you all the way out here?" he smiled at Greer.

Plopping down next to him, she laid her net across her lap. "I'm an entomologist, and was out chasing this really beautiful example of Morpho menalaus, and got really, really lost. On the plus side, you sing well and the cliffs are pretty."
Frowning, she cocked her head, "It's been all of two minutes and I can't remember your name. What was it again?"
He wasn't commenting on her feathers. What a nice boy!

Huh, so she studied bugs, well that was pretty neat. She'd been chasing a butterfly too. You know... that gave him an idea.
"I'm Timothy..." he smiled a bit. "You really liked my singing? I play too of course." Timothy pointed at the guitar resting against the tree.
"I could, try and play something." he picked up the guitar, "you said your name was Greer right?"

Timothy grinned and sat his guitar on his lap... he tuned it a bit then started playing.
"Fields of green... ...mixed with color.
She runs there... ...among the flowers and the colors.
Chasing butterflies... ...she's been chasing butterflies.
Sparklings of color... ...like flowers on the wind.
You can chase... ...but do you really want to catch them?
Chasing butterflies... ...she's been chasing butterflies."

Greer laughed into her hands, grinning at him. "Ah, sneaky! That was great."
A part of herself stood back and watched her interact with Timothy, wondering when she learned to relax and talk so well.

"Well, that's all I've got so far," Timothy winked. "But if I ever finish it I'll be sure to make sure that it's known it's a tribute to you."
"It's nice out here, despite everything... I think." Timothy just couldn't be as upset as he'd like to be.

"Aw, thank you! I've always wanted a tribute, and this is much better than the whole Greecian slave thing."
Ah, there was that Greer socializing we all know and love! Damn it.

Timothy paused for a moment. But then found more than much else his curiousity had the best of him.
"Greecian slave thing? What do you mean?" he said.
"I'm curious."

"Oh, uh, well, the term tribute originates from the ancient Greek city-states, where if one city was defeated in battle by another, they would have to pay a yearly tribute in money or slaves to the winner if they didn't want to be obliterated."
Greer smiled sheepishly, blushing a little. "Sorry, I'm a bit of a nerd."

"No no, that's really cool. I like stuff like that. I was a bit of nerd too, well maybe just a dork. Atleast till high school." Timothy grinned.
"May sound a little weird," Timothy shrugged. "But maybe your like, your parent's tribute to the world. Unless you know why they named you that."
"I do think it's a neat name though."

Oh my ******** god... I am such an idiot. This is why I don't do well around women.
"I mean... I thought you meant Greer... I think we got on different subjects. Of course I should have caught that." Timothy stammered.
He was on the verge of hitting himself if there wasn't someone else present. "Yeah, well, I feel dumb now."
