Karah shook her head. "I guess I can understand the territorial stuff, but maybe in the future, you should try to talk first, throw knives later, no matter how dull they are," she said, shrugging. "Just a suggestion. Anyway, I'm Karah, pleased to meet you all. I'll be going to town, now."
She turned to head back toward the road, whistling for Horu, who had taken refuge from all the tension in the top of a nearby tree. "If anyone else is heading that way, feel free to come with me." she offered.

When the woman started speaking of wolf demons, Avi relaxed very visibly. The woman wasn't in cohorts with the Nightlings. She put away her knives. She would have said something about the whole knife-throwing introduction, but the others had already said enough. She put on a friendlier face to the woman.
"Now that everything's cleared up, wolf woman, my name is Avalon," she said. By now, Soren had retreated to a tree to continue playing and the other woman had introduced herself as Karah. "It's nice to meet you, Karah." With all the formalities done, Avalon felt it was time to continue her journey. 'Perhaps these people could help me? But who says they can be fully trusted?'
"I'll be going to town now," Karah said.
"That wouldn't be advisable," Avalon warned her. "The Nightlings are growing restless and they tend to congregate at towns. Recently, they've taken to appearing during the day as well as the night."

Roarin Vyndir treaded down the path to the next town. His white cloak was drawn around covering him with the hood drawn over his head. It hindered his vision slightly, but he didn't care since all he needed to see was the road. Some night animals were beginning to be a problem in some of these backwater towns and he decided he would put a stop to it. He thought bitterly about being sent away as he continued onward.

If Roarin was looking the road he would certainly see a certain cloaked man lying on the floor. The hood had fallen off his face and he lay there sleeping. He looked like a simple traveler; unarmed but carrying supplies. A pair of thick spectacles were on the ground by the man's head. What would Roarin do?

Roarin slammed down his foot abruptly in mid step to stop himself. His attention was caught by a figure lying down in his path. He looked the traveler once over seeing he was still breathing. Stepping over to the spectacles he picked them up and began to appraise them.

'So Maiu's only a half demon? Interesting, I've never met one before... Now that I think about it she definitly looks like she has demon blood in her,' Avalon thought. At hearing that Maiu didn't know what Nightlings were, she was astonished. Nightlings have always prowled the sleeping Elim for as long as anyone can remember. Perhaps they didn't prey on demons and half demons...
"Nightlings are the embodiment of our deepest fears, namely the dark. They are nown to cause terrible nightmares that sometimes cause the victim to go into comatose. I'm surprised you have never heard of them, they are considered by some to be the brethren of the demonkind," Avalon said.
"By the way, where did you get that knife?" Soren asked Avalon.
Avi was slightly disturbed at that question. Her wariness increased. As far as she knew, he wasn't a member of the Order, but there were so many scattered around the world that it was hard to tell. She searched his persons and couldn't see a dagger of the Order on him. She decided to tell him only half of the truth. "My mother gave it to me. It has been handed down in her family for centuries," she said. Her mother had given it to her, but her mother had been acting in the name of the Order when Avalon was inducted into the Order. 'Let's see how much he knows, or if he is just curious...'

Sycro Roarin slammed down his foot abruptly in mid step to stop himself. His attention was caught by a figure lying down in his path. He looked the traveler once over seeing he was still breathing. Stepping over to the spectacles he picked them up and began to appraise them. The man grabbed Roarin's arm as he picked up the glasses. "I need those to see, thanks..." The man's voice was drowsy with sleep and his eyes clouded over, but he was waking up. Marius sat up facing Roarin as to keep an eye on him. "Thank you for waking me." It didn't sound like much of a thanks with that tone of voice.

Karah nodded at Avalon's warning. "I did hear that, but I'm a mercenary so it's my job to protect people from nightlings...and more mortal dangers."
Her eyes latched on to the two Order daggers and she drew her own casually. "Looks like we all miraculously have the same type of dagger," she said, smiling. "That's a coincidence."
