Nash visibly chringed at the thought of fairing the plushie booth so soon. At Merle's question he scratched his nose to think. "Um... actually I'm pretty new here. I don't know anyone too well... at least not yet. So I'm not too particular about the plushies, I just wan tone because they're cute." He beamed as he rested his arms behind his head.
At the mention of a new companion, Nash turned his eyes toward where Merle was looking. He hadn't known this person but wouldn't turn them down. It just wasn't polite. "Actually I never met... herrr...him?" The confusion was evident on his face. The other looked feminine but still maintained a masculine quality. Which was it? "Are ya seeing, what I'm seein'?" He nudged Merle softly with his elbow wondering if his eyes were playing tricks on him.

Feeling largely out of place amongst the Christmas holiday cheer and bright merry colors, Fiach gave a soft sigh as he noticed many people forming groups. Recalling a conversation he had with his sister and promising to 'try harder' when it came to meeting people and making new friends, he pushed off the wall he had begun to lean against and thrust his hands into his pocket. Sullenly, Fiach began to stroll around taking in the sights. Wincing at the sight of so many crowded around a booth, he concluded it would be best to try that way again later before turning around and looking about aimlessly.
Running a hand through his shoulder length hair, he caught himself biting his lower lip in thought. Clearly no one was going to approach him unless he approached them first, but so many of them seemed younger and smaller than he was. Glancing around as he spun in a slow circle, his blue eyes finally settled on a small trio that seemed to be forming nearby. Taking a deep breath to steel himself, he put on as friendly a smile as he could before approaching them with care.
Fiach was lost, alone, and a tiny bit fearful in the midst of all these people, but this group all seemed to have cheery dispositions, so he figured they were a safe bet to approach. Even if he did feel odd talking to people younger than he was, and having to admit that he hadn't the foggiest idea of what to do or where to go while at this party.
Raising one hand in a half wave, he gave a polite nod in greeting to each as he stood just out of handshake reach, still not wanting to intrude on the group. Nervously clearing his throat, he quietly muttered in his deep lightly lilting voice, "I...um...I'm sorry to interrupt but...I...ah...am not really sure what to do or where to go..." A hint of pink touched his cheeks as he realized how much of a fool he sounded, and he cleared his throat before trying again in a stronger voice, "I, ah, don't suppose you fellows have any suggestions for me? I'm a bit lost..."
Frowning at the understatement that was, Fiach found himself wondering just how he'd managed to let himself get talked into going to such a large event. Alone, at that. One hand fiddled idly with the penny whistle around his neck as he vaguely wished he could just disappear, and disappear quickly. Glancing at each of the young boys before him, he hoped they didn't think he was strange or bizarre for approaching them. It was awkward enough without them thinking he was a bad guy.

The little jolting movement that Micajah made as Irame spoke worried her. Maybe she had been too direct? Or had not waited long enough after the departure of Lorioth? As Micajah started to speak she felt better though. At least she knew that she hadn’t offended him.
“I do not know much about spiting people with the use of magic, but healing, that is an admirable goal. There are many spells for healing, if you meant to use only magic.” She added the last part remembering the student that she had spoke to before. If Rui Zhi had thought of combining the two together then it wasn’t as if other couldn’t have thought of it. “There are many spells and many different types of healing magic; it is probably one of the most extensively researched types there is.”

"Ah, I see. In that case it makes me want to try even harder, if only for the purpose of finding the secrets to the different types of healing spells and magic."
Micajah looked over at Irame for a moment before looking back down at his hands, which were turned palm upwards with his fingers slightly curved. The thoughts of one day being able to cast magic using these hands both thrilled and terrified the youth, and the thoughts of one day using science and reasoning to explain how it did it also thrilled and terrified him. It was like he was doing something very wrong in both cases...for perhaps the right reasons.
"Sometimes I wonder if it's wrong to want to pick magic apart with science, to be able to explain the exact reasons behind it, but then sometimes I also wonder if it's right for magic to be able to do things that scientists have only dreamed of in centuries."
A small flushed crossed his cheeks as he realized what he was saying in general, in front of an Elf no less, and he bowed his head in a small apology.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble like that. Sometimes my mouth goes off without warning my brain."

“I do not think that you were rambling at all.” Irame said. She thought that Micajahs small burst of opinion was nothing more than a show of his outlook. A nicely worded, and quite honest one, but no where near rambling. “I have had to sit through some very long speeches before and I do not think that what you have said qualifies as rambling, although it does qualify as interesting, at lest to me.”
She considered what the boy said for a moment. Rui Zhi had spoken about magic and technology together and she had replied with nearly quoted information from others. The idea that genetics had to do with magic and all that. But what she felt about the matter? She had grown up learning that magic was just a part of life, what it did was normal, you didn’t try to explain it away or make science of it. She had been taught that it was just expected. Then again now was a different time. Now, from what she could tell, everything had an explanation. Everything could be made right with science. Everything obeyed the laws that humanity had made for the universe using science.
“I do not believe that there really is a scientific explanation for what magic can do. Magic is magic for a reason. It is not science, nor should it be governed by the rules of it. As for how it can do things that, as you said, scientist have only dreamed of in centuries, it is not as if the accomplishments of magic were made over night either. Your kind have slaved away with technology, just as other races have with magic. If we are able to do things that you cannot explain then it is to be expected. After all we cannot explain a computer with magic. Combining the two things, possible. Explaining one with the other, I do not believe that it can, or should be done.” She smiled slightly. “That is, however, only my opinion on the matter…”

"What is this? A part of some sort?" gasped a small, burnt copper haired male tightly wrapped up in a powder blue overcoat. His breath came in clouds as he sheepishly stumbled under the gate. He didn't understand the welcome sign for he wasn't great at reading without his glasses, which of course, he left behind at his shaggy apartment in town. His two-toned eyes scanned the festival around him with awe. He had never seen anything like this at all in his life.
He did his best not to bump into people, failing a few times. He refused to loosen his grip on his coat. He had no tolerance for cold. None at all. The slight wind tossed his hair behind him. His one purple and one blue eye scanned the crowd for a friendly face. "Vermillion Vallator," he nervously praticed for any upcoming introductions, "That is my name. Vemillion Vallator."

RuiZhi regained his composure, brushing his free hand over his robes with an awkward smile. This was not the best way to meet new people. "I'm fine," he reassured the much taller boy, "thank you." He smiled, taking a moment to get a good look at the youth he had run into.
Another blonde, like the boy currently within the Chinese boy's firm grip. There was something strange about one of his eyes, but RuiZhi couldn't really tell in the garish lighting. "I'm sorry. It's a little crowded, huh." He grinned a little, standing between the two while trying to avoid the continuing bustle of the people around them.

Merle blinked and looked at Nash a bit wide-eyed. "You're a student here? You're so lucky." Merle smiled again. "I know the feeling. I'm a bit partial to cute things myself. I admit it's one of my vices, to collect cute things." His gray eyes turned back to the newcomer.
"I do believe I am. Though they're definitely male. I'm surprised you hadn't thought myself to be a girl." Merle chuckled a bit. "Though my wearing skirts certainly doesn't do anything for my masculinity." To help make them look more friendly, Merle waved to the young man in the kimono, smile still in place.
He blinked as another voice reacher his hears, a bit timid. Turning quickly to face the owner of the voice, Merle gave a reassuring look. "No worries. I know I'm in that situation a bit, since I got here not too long ago. And it's not an interruption if you'd like to join us? The more the merrier." The girlish boy bowed, since the other wasn't in handshake reach. "I'm Merle Fenglung."

More sighed and smiled back. "I'm afraid so. To say the truth i'm not exactly prepared for this many people. Do you know anything about what's going on here?" He cast a brief glance at the person Rui was holding, and immediately felt something familiar. He had met this other blonde before, hadn't he?
------
A cigarette in his mouth as usual, the magic instructor strolled into the party as he finished cleaning out the magic field and shutting down all the equipments. It was near Christmas, thus noone should be working anyways. And besides, for Shinji, the holiday was somewhat a meaningful one. It brought him some scarcely good memories in the past, and it made him smile faintly.
However, the teacher did not celebrate christmas, he was merely there to enjoy the holiday cheers. The actual activity disinterested him, but he stayed nonetheless, imagining himself being with someone special to him, a long time ago.
Shinji strolled casually, following the current of the crowds. It was more crowded than past holidays, perhaps the outside condition got worse and people were more likely to seek harmony at this small island?

Another chuckle escaped the distinguished Brit, nodding. "He's a brilliant man," Norman complimented the reindeer as he scurried away, "having created a vaccine to a fatal virus. He is a driving force in the school, although you may not know it by mere appearance." This last part was said with the upmost kindness and respect; the prodigal doctor was easily overlooked, but not by Norman. The Headmaster knew that you could not judge books by their covers.
"So," he continued on conversationally, "what brings you to our humble island?" It occured to him that he hadn't introduced himself, but it didn't bother him too much. He preferred to move amongst the gathered freely, unfettered by the weight of his title.

"A little," RuiZhi laughed quietly. "Professor Larine is selling plushies...I think that's what the mess of women is over there." A small hand pointed towards the obvious hustle of the booth. "My sis...ah, Assistant Falcone is running the games stuff. I don't know what games there are, though." Again, another indication towards the bright lights and loud noises of the games booth.
What else had she said to him? "There's a photo booth somewhere, and some currency stuff I don't understand." RuiZhi smiled brightly, not at all troubled by his lack of comprehension. It didn't matter much to him; his only real goal for coming here was to get the requested plushies for his sister...and maybe one or two for himself.

More shifted his attention back to the small boy as he started to speak. "Larine? Oh..." the young man imagined the red-haired general back in the gym, and immediately remembered something else. "You said miss Alex was your sister? Or did you mean something else? I had the chance to meet her once in the gymnasium. She was very kind to me." He chuckled a little, "and professor Larine seemed to be on good terms with miss Alex too."
Changing the topic a bit, More looked around, scratching his head. "Well, I do believe that Dr. Manneth's in charge of the photo booth. At least that's what I remembered according to what he told me. I have yet to find it though." He sighed. "Dr. Manneth seemed to be very uncomfortable about it, so I hope he's okay." There was a slight expression of concern across More's face. It only stayed for an instant however, and More turned to RuiZhi again. "Should we find this secret photo booth?"

She stared in surprise at the retreating form of Doctor Manneth. To be a teacher here, obviously one had to be a brilliant person, but that didn't make it any less shocking to hear of the man's accomplishment. But as the saying went, one can't judge a book by its cover. Lexi could the truth in that statement now.
"Oh," she said, pulling herself from her thoughts as the conversation took a turn away from the young Doctor. "I received an invitation, and it sounded like fun." She smiled, blushing mildly out of embarrassment. "And it's not every day I get a chance to visit this school." It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to come and see the school, and Lexi couldn't deny her curiosity about seeing it.

Norman nodded thoughtfully. It was true, the school being as secluded and private as it was. The thought hadn't occured to him that others might be curious of the school and the nature of the folk there. It wasn't everyday one got to see an elf, either, and the school was home to more than one.
"I'm glad you took us up on that invitation," he said cordially, one hand lifting to smooth his tie, more out of habit than necessity. "We pride ourselves in this school and its accomplishments. It is our honor and joy to invite visitors and hopefuls alike during this joyous season. We all need a little reprieve from our burdens."

Miacjah's face fell a little bit as he listened to Irame's response to his talk earlier, and he couldn't help but feel a little childish in front of her experience and wisdom. In the reality of it all and thinking back on what he said, he did seem a little naive for thinking that way and decided that perhaps in the future...he wouldn't say things out loud. It always seemed to end badly for him in some way.
Of course, not to show any true feelings on his part, Micajah smiled softly and bowed his head towards Irame as if he were agreeing with her opinion and weighed it stronger than his own.
"I see, that makes more sense that what I'd said. Sometimes going to the root of things and trying to explain it takes away the fun and mystery, right? But it makes me wonder more if someone like me has a right to that, since I was thinking the way I did."
He sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck and grinned, his post shifting from the one before of extreme stress and posture to one of a more lazed teenager. Slowly, slowly, he was letting himself slip into another ruse.
"Uh, so..Ms. Irame, do Elves have holidays they celebrate? Or occasions at least? I was never very good on Elven culture, so forgive me if I seem a little brash."
Micajah tried to change the subject with his best efforts, as staying on about magic and science now only seemed to be a path of depression for the youth.
