--- She let out a growl at his lack of seriousness for the situation. He laughed at her! Any doubt that he wasn't in fact mocking her weakness was abolished within seconds, and it only caused her to struggle more. Already she was panting from the exertion, but she refused to give up, give in.
--- His dissatisfying answer brought a heavy snort of a cynical laugh from the pinned female. "Me, afraid? You're just afraid of the truth!" Necrala retorted, tail flicking with aggravation.

Musketeer sighed at her growls and scorn but he had sadly become used to them. He wanted to let her up and find her some food and help her get over her sickness, but if he let her yup she would attack him...or worse run away.
"Enlighten me to your truth then?" He nuzzled her gently.

--- Bucking her head upwards at his unwanted affection and hoping to at least harm his muzzle, the femme once again tried to uproot herself from his grasp. This game of his was growing old, and she wanted out of it. Now.
--- "You want the truth? I don't love you, I never enjoyed anything and nothing is going to change that, no matter how much you and your need for 'protection' wills.."

He didn't like her truth one bit...but it was what it was. He sighed and slowly moved his muzzle away ceasing the tender nuzzles and licks.
"I suppose I knew that all along, but I had hoped..." He frowned and decided not to put his feelings out anymore.
"If you'll let me at least bring you something decent to eat...and promise you'll eat it, I'll let you up..." He hoped she would stick to her word, hoped she would even give it. She needed her strength and he didn't want her stubborn inclinations towards him to be the cause of her starvation.

--- Finally it seemed as though the wolf had gotten it through his thick skull. How amazing it was that forests would be lost under paws in pursuit, jaws faced and humans survived, yet, it was simple words, that she'd said all along, that made him crumble.
--- Weary and panting lightly Necrala lay her head upon the brown, broken ground, blank eyes glaring outwards into the forest with no certain intent.
--- And still he insists.. The wolf felt cynically, though the words were a small crack in her frame. After everything, was he still daft enough to care for her? "Love isn't reasonable I suppose. It just...happens..." The words chimed in her head, and forcefully she shoved them away. No. Never. But the truth still stood that he would NOT let her up, unless she complied. 'I don't....Fine." She grumbled stubbornly, ears pressed back.

He slowly moved aside and sat down gazing at her intently. "I didn't hurt you?" Half a question, but mostly a statement, he had been careful, he would never want to hurt her.
He stood and slowly turned his back. "I'll leave your breakfast at the den...and leave you to enjoy it in peace...I'm needed to patrol the packlands...If you need anything..." Of course she never did seem to need anything, and it was useless to tell her he would be watching to ensure she stayed safe and well. The small presents of food and the eyes gazing into the den to make sure she was safe wouldn't stop because of this, if anything he felt even more responsible for her.

--- Growling curses, the femme brought herself to her feet. Shaking the ragged, corpse-colored pelt of hers to free herself of his scent (or at least attempt to once more), Necrala feigned a snap at his face, stopping close enough to the tender flesh of his ear that the serious click of teeth was clearly audible. That was how close she was to attacking him...
--- Turning away from the male she wordlessly began back to her own den, though resented ever settling there now, knowing that he'd come back. Yet, winter was so close and already the ground was becoming hard and some mornings, frost covered. Double damn.
--- Though, with the exception of her 'breakfast', which she didn't need hunted for her, at least that damn wolf would leave her alone now. She hoped... [Fin]
