"Then the lake it is," He smiled and bobbed his head a little. "It's this way," he turned and nodded towards the woods in the distance. Once they got closer, there would be a visible path that would take them deep into the woods. They would find themselves in a large clearing with a glittering lake in the center of the trees.
"I'll let you decided where you'd like to bed down for the night," he talked softly as they walked along, "If you wouldnt' mind, I'd like to look at the stars with you...just for a while." he looked over to Vara, trying to be confident as he spoke, "I just can't imagine how beautiful you'll be with the stars reflecting in your eyes..." He looked away quickly.
"Was that a bad line? Should I have said that?" he thought to himself. He was being honest though, he'd never met a mare he found so mesmerizing. His heart was pounding at the thought of seeing her in the moonlight, her vibrant coat reflecting off of the ripples in the water.

A little romancing went a long way with someone unused to hearing it, Vara thought to herself. It was so wonderful to be with someone who would treat her this way... someone that she could be just as open back with. She smiled at his compliment, turning her head to watch him while walking. "Of course. Mares aren't the only ones who can benefit by being gilded with starlight silver, you know. I imagine you'll look quite stunning yourself."
Her prediction was correct. When they emerged out of the woods into the open area around the lake the falling starlight clothed them both in their muted sparkle. It was this light that seemed to be filling Vara's heart, soft and subtle. She had heard long ago that the sun was also a star but greater in form and brightness. She wondered if those stars that Scythe placed in her heart would turn into suns someday, suns that would blaze and burn until she was transformed by their flame.
She wondered if that day would come soon. Beside Scythe on that night she smiled. She already knew the answer.
