"I've noticed," Donovan murmured, "She's quite out going."
And curious was the word he would use for it, but that was just him.

"She reminds me of me," Ulani quipped with a grin. "When I was younger, of course, I'm not quite so ... fidgety anymore."
Aliya returned then with Ulrich in tow. As her father began to make breakfast with a groggy "Good morning", she jumped back into her chair and grinned at Cindy and Donovan as if they were dinner.
Oh boy, Ulani thought with a faint smile. Here it comes.
Aliya took a deep breath and burst out into questions. "Where did you guys come from? You said Gaia, but I don't know where that is. Where is it? What's it like there? Are there lots of you there? Does everybody have wings like that? Are your wings real? Can you fly with them? They're pretty, are they soft? What do they feel like? What does it feel like to have wings? Do you know magic? What kind of magic do you have? Do you learn fighting too? Mama's teaching me a bit but Father wants to wait until I'm a bit older to teach me other stuff. Have you ever been here before? Mama told me one time about people that came here from somewhere else but that was a long time ago and I don't really remember what she said. Do you -"
She cut herself off and blushed, then giggled. "Sorry. I go too fast."

"Whoa... breath," Donovan replied blinking and wondering how she managed to breath while asking all those questions.
He kind of lost her after the whole what it was like there. He was sure some of those questions were directed to Cindy and her wings, he wondered if Cindy got any of that.

"Uhm...." Cindy tilted her head trying to sort through all the questions.
It was really no different than having a recipe cited to her, but she wasn't sure wehre to start. Those were a lot of questions to be quite honest.
"Where would you like me to start?"

"Aliya," Ulani said softly, trying to hide a grin, "why don't you just ask one question at a time?"
Ulrich turned around, an expression of incredulity on his face. "Ulani ..." he murmured, "don't you remember when you were that young? You were worse ... remember the first time you met your Uncle Leif?"
Ulani shot Ulrich a dark look, one that said If I weren't holding Adonai ...
"I'd smack him for you, Mama, but he's too tall," Aliya said apologetically. She turned back to Cindy as if nothing had happened and said, "Can you fly with your wings? What's it like to have them?" She bit her lip and stopped there, finally taking her mother's advice.

Donovan looked, slightly amused between Ulani and Ulrich, and wondered what it was about what he said that set Ulani off this time. Actually he was tempted to ask what happened, but he was not sucidial. NOt that he had much to fear from Ulani, but she didn't look happy.

"Uhm..." Cindy thought about it, "No, they're too small and I don't have any magic to help me fly."
Since her ohter siblings could fly with small wings and she recalled Donovan mentioned even large winged angels needed a bit of magic otherwise the law of physics would hold them down no matter how light angels were.
"And... as for having them, I don't know. I've always had them so I don't think much of it."

"Oh," Aliya said softly, still looking at the wings. Her gaze shifted to Cindy once more. "Do you think maybe if they grow bigger that you'll be able to fly with them? How big do you think they'll grow? Mama says we had somebody here one time that had real big wings, but she couldn't fly with them either, but I never met her because that was a long time before I was born. I'm only nine years old, so it was a really really long time ago."
She stopped again to breathe and waited for Cindy's reply.

Cindy looked thoughtful, she knew her wings should be bigger, but she didn't know the answer to that question. She supposed she could evenually become like Yue and Yukito, but that wasn't the case quite yet.
"I don't know, I haven't grown in a long time," Cindy admitted.
Though, it really wasn't long to anyone who did not grow by stages, but Cindy who did was the eldest and she had brothers and sisters who were all grown up and with children.

Aliya nodded in understanding (at least, she thought she understood). "I haven't grown in a long time either," she agreed, "but Mama says that any time now I could hit a growth spurt and get real tall real fast, maybe like her and maybe like Father. She says that's what happens when people get about eleven or twelve years old. That means I only have two more years to wait!"
She beamed proudly. She couldn't wait to grow!
"What about you?" she asked eagerly. "How old are you?"

Cindy scratched in her cheek thoughtfully, she knew that Aliya meant, which was something odd to think about. Though she was sure the others knew, since they had met her brother Triton.
"I'm nearly two," Cindy finally replied, "That's about.... early twenties for a normal person."
Since she had noticed they tended to stop growing quickly after reaching their physical twenties.

Aliya blinked. "Huh?" She turned and looked at Ulani. "What's that mean, Mama?"
Ulani laughed softly and brushed a strand of her daughter's hair away from her face. "It means that she's already an adult, Aliya. A grown up. For her race, I guess that happens very ... very early."
"Oh!" Aliya brightened, then turned back to Cindy and giggled. "I thought you were just a kid like me, because you're smaller than me. But you're bigger than Adonai though! What kind of race are you? I can see he's human" - she pointed at Donovan - "but what are you? I never saw anyone with wings before!"
Not that she could remember anyways.

"Ah... well..." Cindy laughed a bit sheepishly, "I've never had my growth spurt, but nearly everyone in my family grows quickly. It's quite normal to grow my stages rather than slowly bit by bit. At least for the Hououza Kodomo, that's what people call my race."
She was often mistaken for an angel, but she had a bird's tail, which made her a bit different than her angelic members of the family.

"Cinderella is actually the eldest of Kara's children," Donovan paused and thought about, "Well... actually no... Elnara is, but Cindy was before Elnara came along."
It was hard to think of it like that since for the longest time it was by the order of adoption.

Ulani smiled at Cindy. "Well, I know how tall Triton is ... but you said you haven't had your growth yet, perhaps when you do you'll end up just as tall as him."
She glanced at Donovan. "To be fair," she laughed, "Elnara's nearly as old as Kara is - would be older, if she were still here. If that's not something to turn your head, then nothing is. How many people can say their mother - adopted or otherwise - is only a few years older than they are? Even my sister couldn't. She was ... I believe she was six, and Mum nineteen, when she was adopted."
"Six, and Cindy's size," Ulrich put in, turning and setting a plate of sandwiches on the table. "Sorry for the selection," he apologized, "but it was kind of spur of the moment."
He set a stack of plates on the table and sat down, then pointed a finger into Aliya's face. "No more questions until after breakfast," he told her firmly.
Aliya nodded and reached for a sandwich.
