Elijah hadn't caught the second meaning right away. He onlynodded his head and smiled, as he took the ball. A tossed it up once in the air and followed it carefully with his green eyes before catching it in his hands. He looked to Relm and wondered why she seemed to be blushing all the sudden. "Alright. Will play catch then," He said and shrugged. "But if we do ride you don't have to worry about me. I'll be careful." He winked and turned to throw the red ball.

"Alrighty, Ruben. You ready?" He brought his arm back as if he were going to throw it a far distance. Elijah's eyes fixed on a certain part as he plotted to try to get it that far.

oh thank the Espers. A look of relief flickered in Relm's green eyes behind her smile. Of course blushes were one thing even her lifetime of 'acting' could not contain. At least as well as Relm would like. But then... usually very little caused her to blush so it was never an issue. heh. Well stuff happened, didn't it?

"I'll worry about who I want, when I want." The artist declared over the carbunkle demonpuppy's excited hopping barks. Thing was like a jack russel terrier sometimes, she swore. Relm was grinning, responding to Elijah's wink and the feeling it gave her by sticking her tongue out and laughing. Though less exuberant than Ruben, Interceptor too was excited about play. So much so that he seemed like a normal dog instead of a trained fighter. Laughing Relm drew her arm back and threw. Perhaps not the best pitch ever -the artist-mage was not exactly athletic or sports oriented- but it did have the look of being thrown by one who spent a lot of time doing just this. In a flash her dad's dog took off after the green ball. Ruben too after the red perhaps seconds after it left Elijah's hand.

After Elijah had thrown the ball, the second meaning of Relm's former statement dawned on him. The quick distraction caused him to mess up his aim and have the ball hit a tree before bouncing off at an angle. The dog anthro smiled sheepishly. "I meant to do that...Really" He said as he watched the red ball bounce a few more times before it slowly started rolling on the ground. Elijah could of laughed at hiself for the delayed reaction. No, he didn't think much of why it had made Relm blush. It was just kind of funny that he hadn't realized the double meaning it till now.

He managed to hide the sudden amusement pretty well by making it look like he had made another sloppy mistake. Even he could act somewhat well every once in a while.

((wah! sorry! Holidays've been a killer & I pretty much've missed the majority of my threads & RPs *hugs* how about soon we say they enjoyed each other's company for a while, throwing balls with the maybe even riding the birds for a while so we can cut to the concert? If you'd like to... feel free to make a tie up post. *hugs*))

Ruben didn't seem to mind the bad aim at all, taking off again barking towards the tree then nearly skidding into it as he changed direction and matched the ball's new route. Laughing, Relm accepted the red ball back from Interceptor. A glance and a slight raise of her brow shot at Elijah as if to say 'yeeeeaaah... riiiight. You meant to do that' before turning with a grin to toss the green ball for Interceptor again. Whether the musician's act really fooled her or not was hard to tell. If nothing else, Relm was willing to let the act hold on the grounds that if somehow it related to something she did not want investigated... "Doesn't seem Rubin cares." The pictomancer giggled, as the carbunkle pup dropped the red ball at Elijah's feet and barked.

(( *hugs back* It's okay. I figured it was the holidays. No worries. <3 And sure, I'll take care of it. ))

Elijah only grinned in reply as he picked up the ball once more. He threw it again, watching it soar in the air -in a straight line- until it landed on the ground, just in eye shot. This continued for some time until the two's arms grew tired. They moved onto to racing the birds and time seemed to zip by as the sun slowly sunk down to sleep away for another night.

Elijah hopped off the chocobo and let out a small yawn while he stretched his arms out for a moment. It now felt weird to stand on the ground since he had been riding on the chocobo for so long. His green eyes cast a glance to the dark sky above him and he let out a disappointed sigh. "It got dark fast..." A frown appeared on his face as he looked to Relm. "I should probably head home before I can't even see where I'm going..." Remembering his instrument, he picked up the for once forgotten guitar and strapped it on his back. After making sure it was on right he flashed Relm a smile. "So I'll see you at the concert." His smile grew to a grin. It wouldn't be like last time. They would see each other much sooner.

(( I hope that was okay~ ))

((perfect! *hugs*))

Relm could not recall spending a more perfect evening. She felt her face was going to rip from smiling so much, but she didn't care. Green eyes danced as at long last the musician picked up his instrument. "Yeah it did, & so should I." Sure she was disappointed about the day ending, but there was the concert to look forward to. "I'll see you here, 6pm. 3 days." Relm gave him a warm and genuine smile followed by a playful wink then swung herself back on Figaro's back. Before she was tempted to do something silly like hug him -as many of her 'family' in such a situation would do without a thought. Relm didn't want to give Elijah the wrong idea...

Grabbing Thamasa's reins with a wave to Elijah & a whistle to the demon pups Relm pressed booted heels into the chocobo's sides and the lot took off for home.

((^.^

Guess this calls for a time skip? If you wanted to do something more ignore this. ))

Never had Elijah experienced a longger three days. The concert had kept buzzing in his mind and he wasn't really able to find anything to really occupy his attention long enough to entertain him. Well, his guitar and messing around with some of the songs he was writing helped, but it only made him more and more excited.

The day had finally come of course. So the anthro dog finally arrived at his and Relm's meeting spot. For once he had left his guitar safely tucked away in it's case at home, not wanting it to get damaged in the crowd. He was wearing casual clothing just like he said he would. His usual favorite leather jacket was on along with jeans and a t-shirt of his that said the name of one of his favorite bands.

Elijahleaned against a tree and crossed his arms as he calmly waited for his friend to arrive. He had showed up about five minutes early so he didn't expect to see her right away. The wait had just been biting at him to much, so here he was.

((perfect! ^_^))

Relm was nervous. Nervous. Not that she let anyone know... though her 'sisters' figured it out pretty quick. But then... they knew each other. Too well. Despite what Elijah had said about her outfit being perfect the artist had opted for a few changes. Instead of the harem pants, green hip-hugging stretch jeans that formed to her legs held in place with a red belt. She still wore her green band shirt with white off the shoulder puffs over yellow arm sleeves and red boots, but the beret she exchanged for a red barrette at the back of her head to keep the curls out of her way -afraid she would lose the beret. The black onyx medallion her mother had left her was at her throat, tied simply with a black velvet ribbon around her neck. Instead of her cape, a red denim jacket that left her middle bare.

But the changes only partially made her uneasy -and that only worried that Elijah might not like it. Okay... maybe more than worried. Still that was not all that bothered Relm. It was bothering her that she missed the animals' company. She had gotten accustomed to spending most of her time with them.

And more, they were a safe buffer when things got awkward with Elijah.

Concentrating on keeping her breathing normal Relm kept a brisk pace towards where she was to meet the musician, her step light. Despite her uncertainties... Relm was keenly excited about there 'date' though she couldn't call it that beyond it being scheduled. She would hardly admit to herself how much she was looking forward to this concert. More than look forward too... Relm was awash with anticipation. And she couldn't or wouldn't say why. And as of yet... there was no mural in the 'give away' spot over her bed. But a certain group portrait was always set on an easel directly across. One of many easels in her bedroom-studio, but it never was exchanged for another.

It's good to have a friend... Relm rationalized, stuffing her hands into the pockets of her jeans. They were 'magicked' too, and Relm's fingers gripped around the handle of her brush there. She wouldn't pull an easel out, but she felt better to have protection.

Of course Elijah did not know about her magic talent. That was a little sobering. Later. She'd tell him later. Relm wanted to be a 'normal' girl for a while longer at least. Slightly she quickened her pace.

To see Elijah already there. Was she late? Relm checked the time. No... right on time. More than a minute to spare. He was... waiting for her? Awww... that was so cute. Relm broke into a light trot, green eyes smiling. "Elijah! Hey!"

If her voice showed more jubilation than she had thought to express... too late now to reign in the automatic reaction.

(( Sorry for the delay. X.x; I've been sick... and it sort of threw me off my roleplays. I thought I replied to this... But now that I think about it I don't remember typing my post at all... @_@;; Sorry again! ))

Elijah's ears perked up as soon as he heard the familiar voice. A grin spread across his face. Finally, the waiting was over with. "Relm! Hey!" He tried not to sound overly exicted, thinking it would make him seem weird or something, but it the excitement he felt was shining. He pushed himself away from the tree to walk over to meet the other just a bit more quickly with the grin still on his face. He noticed the outfit she was wearing. 'She looks great.' Not caring to give much tought to it before, he now wondered if he looked okay himself...

Edit: ( *pokes the title* Finished? )

((*giggles* well... I'd thought we'd start a new thread but we didn't so... ^_^ I'll change it after I post. *hugs* I hope you're feeling better.))

At some point when she hurried her pace Relm had taken her hands from her pockets, brush held comfortably and as casually as she could manage between excitement and nerves. "You've not been waiting long I hope?"

She gave in. That grin made her feel warm all over. Besides... they were friends right? Why not? Meeting Elijah halfway she went up on her toes to wrap her arms around his shoulders for a quick and brief hug. Just a friendly hug between friends. Then she set her heals back down, arms dropping to her sides then going behind her with her hands meeting on the handle of her brush. Grinning sheepishly Relm rocked a little back on her heals & looking up at the dog anthro. "I know you said my other clothes were fine, but Trel was telling me about some of the concerts she's been to and... well this seemed wiser. I hope you don't mind."

Not that she expected the male to have much care fashion-wise (the gender on average being notoriously unfashion-savvy) but regardless of that Relm did not want him to think she was disregarding his opinion. Something which though she did often enough with others was farthest from the truth now. Also... well sometimes it was difficult for some when things changed unexpectedly. Sure a small change, but somehow... it seemed important.

( Ah... I should of figured that. x.x; I just started to type up another intro without thinking...

Sorry for the delay. I've been brain dead and sleepy, but I do feel better thanks. <3 *hugs* ))

Elijah briefly hugged the other back and felt hsi cheeks tint up a little. Most the friends he had were guys, so he didn't get many 'friend hugs' from them, which was all this was of course. It just made him feel almost strangley happy and warm inside. "Eh I don't care. She's probably right too. I really don't care what I wear half the time myself. I usually just wear what I like." He shrugged and stuck his hands in his pockets. "Besides, that outfit looks good on you. Pretty nice concert outfit." Elijah wasn't offended at all. He wasn't terrible at picking out decent clothes out to wear or anything like that, but he didn't really think about fashion too much.

Of course that was all it was. Of course. But Relm felt herself smiling, tucking away the sight of Elijah's faintly darkened cheeks behind even the mental snapshots for future paintings. She did not wish to share it, just hold on to the notion that maybe -just maybe- she had somehow brought about the slight blush. A foolish notion, but she could hold it if she wished and no one could take it from her if she kept it hidden properly.

But now her own cheeks warmed with a soft heat. He said the outfit looked good on her. That was all Relm needed to hear. A smile curved her mouth and lit her eyes. "Oh good."

Not quite sure what to do with her hands Relm too shoved hers in her pockets before tossing a winning smile at the dog-anthro. "Well then, ready when you are, Musician!"

Yes... the safety of the barrier of a nickname. With the way Elijah had of bringing warmth to her cheeks and getting her to drop acts... really it was more safe this way. At least, so Relm rationalized to herself.

Elijah nodded and smiled. "Well I'm ready. So let's go." He started to walk in the direction of where the outdoor concert would be. "It's not too far." He stopped to wait for her to follow along after him so they could walk together.

When they arrivived at the concert there was already a bit of a crowd out there. The only lights around were those around the stage and from the stars in the now dark sky, and that seemed to be enough light for the people there. The stage crew was currently setting up for the band that was supposed to play while many of the audience were waiting in lines in food stands set up around the concert or just talking among themselves.

Elijah reached a hand into his jacket pocket to make sure the two tickets he had bought some days previously were still there, and they were. He had made sure not to misplace it after all and hadn't moved them since he put them there.

Relm started following, then with a grin trotted the short distance that had formed between them to walk alongside Elijah. This was... nice. For once she did not feel the need to fill the silence as they walked side by side, not touching, while the sky grew ever darker. Companionable. Comfortable... well aside from her slight nervousness though the little actress was keeping any signs of that exceptionally well hid. Her 'sisters' or a telepath/empath would know, though few else unless they were extremely well versed in reading subtle nuances.

Green eyes took in the sight of the outdoor concert and Relm was glad she had the red coat. No reason to act like anything other than the new to concerts girl she was. "Oh wow..."

The air was a little chill now. She was an artist... her hands were her life/ Digging around in her pocket she pulled out a pair of thin, smooth, red gloves and slipped them on just before looking up at Elijah and smiling. "I'm excited."

Truth. Honest truth, believe it or not. Her first concert... and just friends or not she was here with a cute boy. She almost laughed at herself. "So how & when should we feel up the crowd for your band?" Her smile grew a trifle sheepish. Hopefully that would be as close as the pictomancer came to admitting she was not sure how to gage this crowd.

(( @_@ *mumbles* Too much school... ))

"Hm?" He had almost forgot about that part. He was so wrapped up in seeing the actual concert itself he hadn't given it that much thought. Funny too. He was usually obsessivly working on ways to try to get a band going. "Oh! Well I guess we could take a look right now. There's time, but... we could also grab something to eat if you're hungry..." He looked over to the places with food. "Or we could always do both. There are quite a few people over where the food is..."
