Kyle...you inspired me o.o And yes, Bobbi, that was totally from our pm convo ^_^ 26. Tears Aldrick could hear it. Strangled cries. Pained gasps. They were all around him, bouncing around in his ears and head. They added to the pain he himself was feeling. It hurt so bad. There were tears in his eyes, and he hardly ever cried. "Kyle....how...how could you?" Kyle was standing over him, rubbing Aldrick's back. "Jeez, I'm sorry! I didn't know!" Aldrick looked up at Kyle, glaring. "It was rice! How could you screw up plain old rice this bad!" Kyle blushed, looking away. "Sorry...I just...you know..." Aldrick guzzled some milk down. It'd quelch the fire, but give him stomach cramps later. "There's no need to add flavor! That's what the other food is for!" Kyle bowed his head, looking around. Everyone who had taken a bite of the afformentioned rice was either chugging some liquid, crying, blowing their running noses, or making pitiful noises. Well, cept him and Rio. "Hey, I thought it was pretty good, you guys." Everyone looked at Rio, and she ducked under the table. If looks could have killed, she'd have been dead five times over. "Sorry, I'll keep quiet now." Kyle scratched the back of his head. "Well...now what?" Aldrick sighed. Finally, he wasn't burning anymore. And his sinuses were definitely clear now. "We keep eating...and never let you touch anything in the kitchen ever again." Everyone resumed eating once they stopped flailing about. Though, once Al started cleaning the dishes, he did have to chuckle. All but two plates still had the super spicy rice on it, untouched save for one bite.

Well, I wouldn't say it was super spicy, but knowing my luck in the kitchen, I might a bit too much lemon pepper...
I'm better with noodles, to be honest. Being Sicilian and all. xDDD HOWEVER. THAT IS SOMETHING I WOULD DO. 10/10.

30. Under the Rain "...ke..p..." Huh? What?"Wa....u..." What are you saying?"Wake up, please!" Aldrick sat bolt upright, eyes wide open. It took him a second to process that he wasn't on the train... He was in a dilapidated building, and he could hear what had to be rain outside. Had to be rain. Mainly cause it was pouring through a hole in the roof. "Good. I was worried you were really hurt." Aldrick looked over at Kyla, who was sitting behind him. Actually, right in the perfect spot where if he was lying down, his head would've been in her lap... The teen blushed a little, slightly embarrassed. "Sorry." Kyla shook her head. "No, don't be sorry. It was the least I could do after..." Aldrick thought for a second. After...what? Then he remembered. "The train was attacked. By the replicas. And then...the door was forced open and you...you fell out." "Yes. And you jumped out and caught me in the air. Actually, I should apologize...I landed on you..." The teen could feel a few sore spots on his body, but, almost as if by instinct, he automatically healed himself with his healing wind. "No, no you're fine. In fact, it's probably better that way...you aren't hurt, are you?" The pictomancer shook her head. "No..." Aldrick could tell something was off...she was missing something... "Where's your sketchbook?" The girl looked away for just a split second. "I...dropped it. I don't know if it fell with us or stayed on the train..." The fighter looked at the girl, and smiled. "Well, we'll find it one way or another. We just need to get back to the train." The girl nodded, getting up, and Aldrick stood with her. They needed to figure out where they were, where the train was, and how to quickly get back to it. Peeking their heads outside of the building, they saw nothing but the destroyed city and rain. It was...depressing, to say the least. As they stepped out into the rain, a flash of light from their clothes occured, and Kyla recieved a pure white, hooded cloak to protect her from the rain, while Al recived a leather cloak, though his was hoodless. They walked down the rundown road, their new cloaks resisting the rain and making soft swishing sounds that were almost drowned out by the rain. Most of the buildings they couldn't even enter, they had either caved in or the entrances were destroyed. The few buildings that were actually able to be entered held nothing inside them, though, and seemed like they could collapse at any moment. "It's...sad." Aldrick looked over at Kyla. "What is?" "This place. The destruction, the rain...it's all just so sad..." Aldrick nodded, then slicked his wet hair back. It really was a sad place. But something about it seemed to bug the fighter. Something was familiar... SCREECHThe two earthlings turned, a large pink dragon gliding along the ground towards them, it's mouth open wide as if it was hungry, and it saw Kyla and Aldrick as two very delicious snacks. "Move!" The two split, Al running towards a run down building, and Kyla going for an alley. Aldrick hoped the dragon would come towards him, but instead, it went towards the pictomancer. "#&%#" The teen ran up the wall of the destroyed building, flipping backwards once he reached the edge of the wall and roof. Kyla whipped out her pen as she ran, her instincts wanting her to pull out her sketchbook, but since that was gone...she had an idea. Actually, two at once. She ran to the wall of the building, her pen making rushed strokes against the wall as she drew a sword on it. She could only make the one, any more would just get washed away by the rain. But one was enough. "Al!" The sword, infused by Kyla's powers, seemed to leap up out of the wall, flying towards Aldrick. He caught the sword by the hilt, and using gravity and his full weight, he pierced the dragon, snapping it's spine. It gave a shrill shreik, before collapsing, and the sword disappeared. Aldrick hopped off the dragon, and went over to the girl, looking at her from head to toe. "You okay?" The girl nodded, and Aldrick let out a sigh of relief. Then, it clicked. The dragon, the ruined buildings, the rain... "Burmecia..." To be continued... --------------- Plan to make this a two parter, and the first part just happens to fit one of the themes ^_^

59. No Way Out "Al, what do we do...?" "I...I don't know." Apparently, the Ironite dragon Al had killed earlier in the streets of Burmecia had friends. Three, to be exact. And they had managed to pin the two earthlings in a building that had mostly collapsed. They barely had any space to walk around, but they were thankful that the dragons couldn't find a way to fit into here. Not like much else could. "Is this...?" The teen shook his head. "Don't even say that. Don't even think it." "But...there's no way out." Aldrick shook his head. No, there was a way out, they just didn't want to get eaten trying to take it... Kyla bit her lower lip, her pen in hand. She tried to draw a door for them to use, but she didn't know the nearby area, or an area that was safe that was close enough for her powers. She would've done the train, but that was an unknown too. No idea where it was at this point...but, maybe if she... "Don't you dare even suggest that. I won't risk it. I won't risk you." Kyla blushed at that, at the fact that she meant something to Al. "...Alright." Aldrick thought and thought, before finally having an idea. "I've got plan." Kyla looked at the fighter, blinking that long blink that people do when trying to think of something about a person. "What?" Aldrick smiled. "Do you trust me?" Kyla gave him that blink again, and shook her head. "Yes, but don't you dare think of sacrificing yourself." The teen's smile faltered for a second. "What...?" Kyla poked a finger into his chest, quite hard, but Aldrick didn't quite feel it through his breastplate. "You might be smiling, but it isn't in your eyes. You're thinking of letting me run while you distract the dragons. Am I right?" The teen's face shut down, the smile disappearing and the face going blank. Kyla shuddered, looking into that mask, but she stood her ground. "Well, you're too important to go wasting yourself like this. So, no." The male stared at her, as if debating if he would listen to her...before nodding. "Fine. Then follow my lead and we might get out of this." -------------------- The dragons were waiting. Oh, they were actually pretty patient. It was a good meal behind that wall. They sat there, waiting to lunge at those humans, waiting to---Ooo! Butterflies! The dragons watched as numerous crimson butterflies flowed out from beneath, above, around, and through the wall. The soft light each butterfly gave off lit the area, making it seem like it had been raining blood, not water. The dragons, almost mesmerized, watched the butterflies, snapping at the ones that strayed near. Like a blur, Aldrick shot through the dragons, getting in numerous hits to each one with his staff, making sure to crush their skulls. The butterflies faded, and Kyla stepped out into the street, looking at the three now dead Ironites. "See? You didn't need to do what you were thinking." Aldrick looked at her, wiping off some dragon goo that splashed up onto his face. "Alright, alright, I get it. No more stupid decisions." Kyla nodded, then had a giant shadow pass over her and Al. Both raised their guards, but smiled and eased up when they realized it was just the train. "They came back..." Aldrick and Kyla smiled at each other, then. They'd get bombarded with hugs and worries and the such. No way out of that for them.

52. Deep in Thought Kyle plopped down, quite ungracefully, actually, next to Aldrick. "Alright, spill it. What's got you so down in the dumps?" Aldrick blinked before turning to Kyle, looking confused. "Huh? Where'd you get that idea?" "...Empathy. Duh." "...Duh. But I'm not really that down, just thinking." Kyle cocked his head. Now would be a good time to get a bit closer with Aldrick. It was always good to get closer with your allies. "About what?" Aldrick looked up at the moon, a small pang in his heart at the missing stars. "The sun and moon...do you know how the moon gets it's light, basically?" Kyle thought for a moment. "Basically? It reflects light from the sun." Aldrick nodded. "Don't you find it funny, then, that most people love the moon?" The swallow-user seemed to be confused for a split second, so Aldrick elaborated. "The sun is always bright and shining during the day, letting us live and florish. But it's the moon, who steals light from the sun, that people are thankful for at night when they can't see. It's the moon that lights up the night enough for us to walk the paths with even the smallest bit of sight. If not for the moon, right now, it'd be pitch black, and we wouldn't even be able to see each other, let alone a foot in front of us." Kyle nodded. It was a sound logic, depending on how one viewed it. But he could feel something...more behind the thought process. "What brought that up?" Aldrick smiled. "Comparing me and you." And Kyle frowned at that, and ALdrick chuckled, almost able to see the ? floating above Kyle's head. "You're the leader, Kyle, and you have to know that. They rely on you. More than you know, I think. You're their sun. But when you're gone, when day turns to night, they follow the moon, the one who basks the most in your light, the one who brightens the darkness on most occasions." Aldrick held out his hands as if to say 'tada!' "That, my friend, would be me." "I don't quite know why that makes me a little depressed, but at the same time, I think part of me is so happy to know my place. You know?" And Kyle did know. Mainly cause of the empathy, but also because he understood where Al was coming from. "You know what?" Aldrick shook his head. "Nope, can't read minds. What?" Kyle gave the male a half hug around his shoulders. "Wouldn't have anyone else be my moon." Aldrick blushed and stood. "Glad to...uh...hear that...um...I think I hear someone arguing, I should go break that up." As he left, Kyle was cackling. It wasn't even an innuendo, and still Al got flustered and embarrassed. He was going to have to pick on Al some more if it was going to be that easy.

So, I plan to do this kinda...like, dive into Al's heart sort of thing fanfiction, eventually. I'm hoping to, once I work out kinks and such(and start feeling better. Yay, disease*rolls eyes*) But, yes, so it's kinda like...a sub-boss and then main boss sort of thing, and I drew out the sub-boss for Al's heart. I'd actually like to write out more than just Al's, but it's a very personal thing, a person's heart...I might attempt someone at one point if I ever get Al's/mine done. ...might >.>
