"Well if that's all there is to it, then what are we waiting here for?"Said Duo, smirking a little bit to himself. If things had just gotten more difficult, at least it would be more interesting than it had been up until this point...Not that it was bad that nothing had happened, it was just...Well, Duo half expected that something would have gone wrong before then, and hopefully this would just fill the quota of bad things for the day...unlikely, but hopefully.

Duo started swimming again, finding this whole bit a little odd. He didn't dive much, but it was sort of similar to being in space....just...with more resistance. And shock waves from earthquakes...No, he definitely preferred space over this...Except for the scenery. That was a tossup; the view of the Earth was great from space, but the moon was just too close...If the water here hadn't been so cloudy, he was sure it would be nice...but, then again, the cloudiness helped hide them, so it had its advantages, for now. After all, this wasn't for fun.

((You're a wolf now, Jinny? heart Can I be Ushiwaka?))

Neither Trowa or Quatre had been waiting anything, and Duo was now talking (figuratively) to empty waters while the other two swam ahead.

Checking his GPS once again, the ex-acrobat stopped suddenly. "These are the correct coordinates. It should be in this immediate area."

((That game looks amazing, btw. o_o; ))

"Docking at two o'clock." Heero spoke the words aloud for Wufei's benefit, knowing that the other pilot's straight visuals were less than clear and he lacked as detailed electronic mapping device. They were reaching the island already when a second, much smaller tremor ran through the water, barely causing their suits to shake.

Wufei frowned at his control panel, looking from it to the readout he still had on his mini screen. "Yuy." He touched his mouthpiece, pushing it closer in an attempt to get the words across clearer. "I think we have a problem."

"What?" Heero continued steering them up to the underwater cave, the entrance several yards from the surface of the water and much further up than they had been traveling. If whatever Wufei had been about to say was of immediate notice, then he would not have minced words but just come out with it. They had time to finish this stage of the mission.

"The data Cancer is giving me is the same as it was at the start of the mission. If we are to believe it, no fuel has been used since shortly after we set off." The interior of his mobile suit suddenly dimmed and went black and the air-filtering system gave a low whirring noise and stopped, leaving a feeling of stagnation and threat.

Wufei tapped his mouthpiece, looked at the no longer lit display screen and took off his headphones. "And now I'm on life-support. Damn."

Duo tapped his ear piece, once he had caught up with the other two. He had heard Wufei up to a certain point, but then the sound simply died and the wire went silent. He tapped it again, thinking maybe it was a problem on his end, but when that worked he promptly decided it wasn't.

"Sounds like that old Cancer is giving Wufei some trouble," he said, though knowing it wasn't like they could go help repair the suit; they had their own part of the mission to complete, and it was important for them to finish it.

After a moment of silence, Duo couldn't help but ask, "Any sign of it?" He was getting a little agitated; in the murky water it almost seemed like they were going nowhere.

>:E And yes, I can be a wolf. You can be my useless prophet. XD))

Quatre was worried too but was also very aware of how much these kind of missions meant, the very important ones. At hearing Duo's question, he pulled out one of the few more advanced pieces of equipment they have been allowed to bring along. The underwater binoculars had both nightvision and infrared functions, beside being digital binoculars with zoom and the ability to capture and store a limited amount of pictures of good quality. A little something one of the Winner companies had developed once.

Pulling it free from the straps that had held it securly to his hip, Quatre began scanning the area. He really hoped that nothing really bad had happened to Chang but if it were so that the enemy had found him they should have heard some kind of fighting going on. Or at least he thought they should have.

"Trowa," Quatre spoke into the transmitter, "can you give me their coordinates?"

Heero gave a low tense noise as Wufei's line cut completely. That was not good. Checking his monitor he could see that the Cancer was still behind him and at the same level in the water, at least for now. Even as he watched it began to move forward along the directions Heero had given him just before they lost communication. So he still had control over the suit, if only temporarily. That was something. It was moving faster than they had been going before. It seemed Wufei believed he had only a short period of time to reach the destination. Heero set off again as well at a slower speed so that they would eventually be running alongside each other. The sooner they docked, the sooner they could assess the damage.

Wufei leaned forward over his manual controls, eyes narrowed slightly in the dark. He could only barely see what he was doing, the small red emergency light over the control panel. The waters outside were still dark and murky, but hopefully he would catch a glimpse of Heero's Pisces soon. At least he knew which direction to head in. They were very close now. It should not be long. He urged the mobile suit into an additional quickening of speed. Even if he got off course he should meet up with Heero soon.

It was in that moment before Trowa could even answer the other pilot, that Duo spotted it; Truthfully, he hadn't expected the alarm system to be so...Well, obvious. It was just a few controll switches on the sandy ocean floor. From the surface, it would undoubtedly be completely unnoticable, but from their depth, the small blinking light indicating that it was functional was just barely bright enough to be seen. "Guys, I spotted it,"said Duo, glad to have just finally reached their destination; again, he was experiencing the vague feeling that if he turned around, their ship would be right there...It really was dark enough in this water to make it difficult to tell if they had gained any ground at all.

The braided pilot swam down in the murky water toward the blinking light, making sure to stay well away from going over it and setting it off. He reached the ocean floor, floating inches off the sand, examining the disguised box; it was camouflaged behind seaweed and sand, and truthfully it was only a matter of luck he had seen it at all. He didn't wait for the other two to catch up before he set to work disabling it.

Looking at the lit monitor in his MS, Heero could see that Wufei was now nearly alongside him. If he moved any more forward, Heero would be able to see him outside his window, even with the less-than-perfect visibility. They were now moving at the same pace; apparently Wufei was able to see the Pisces and had adjusted his speed to match it. Heero sped up, resuming their original pace, noting with satisfaction that the other did the same.

"Cancer has lost communication and much of its power," Heero said with the calm soldier's voice that all of them had use of. He had turned on the transmitter, opening the connection once more to the other pilots' wetsuits. "We will begin docking shortly."

As Heero's voice came over the com system, Duo let out a sigh of relief. At least it wasn't an attack, or Heero wouldn't have sounded so calm...Even if it was him...In fact, the braided pilot doubted very much whether or not 01 would have even given them a status report if he had been engaged by the enemy.

"Right. The alarm system is down,"he replied, thinking that considering how quickly it seemed Heero and Wufei were coming up to their target destination, it was probably for the best he had spotted it quickly. At least the first part of their plan was proceeding as they had planned...

((Ack. Shorrrrttt! Sorry everyone, but someone beside me and Kami needs to post. *jabs Nadil to do it*))

"The designated access point is about ten meters from our current position. Since the alarm system is down we will be able to surface without setting anything off. Any detection after that will be human in nature." Trowa informed the rest impassively, once again checking the small computer.

Quatre nodded, his action slowed down in the water. "Alright, let's see to that that is not on us. Come on--" and more than that he didn't manage to get out before something rumbled, the sound seeming to come form all around them. The little rocks upon the sandy bottom seems to move slightly, but quickly, where they lay. The pilots who were in the water only had the time to cast a worried glance at each other before the real shake ripped the surroundings. Bigger rocks fell off the underwater cliffs and (bigger) rocks where they had previously lied snuggly and secure.

Quatre let out a semi-loud, surprised sound as he was thrown backwards, forcing him to whirl around in the water to protect his oxygen reserves from the submarine environment. This would certainly not go so smoothly if these shakes continued and, worse, grew greater.

Down deep underground, a red light flashed, warning the people present that something may have happened in the docking chamber. It could be a false alarm but crew was sent there anyway and the regular check ups run at the base on an overall. This happened ever so often, this was Hawaii after all. Despite having advanced so much and acquire wondrous technology, humankind had still not learned to master nature's most primal ways of calling "objection!".

"Sir!" one of the technicians called out for the attention of the supervisor in the room. "There seems to be a problem with the outer alarm. The quake must have harmed it or pushed something out of order. It's not responding." The older man sighed heavily.

"That's what you get for alarms that are of the old technology. But they come in handy since they're less detectable tahn the newer ones." The supervisor shook his head. "Alright, send out a technician to fix that damn thing. It's been very calm and no one has found us out so far but we take no risks."

"s**t." Heero let the word fall from his lips, brows furrowed in concentration and concern as he slammed on the controls of his MS, profoundly grateful that both his and Wufei's were heavy enough and weighted enough that it would take more than this to disturb their position too much... although he doubted that Wufei's Cancer would appreciate the further disturbance.

He waited for the shaking to stop, then directed them into the crevice in the underwater rock wall of the side of the small island. It was not the best location they would have been able to find, but judging by the way the Cancer just coasted in, it was the best they would be able to reach. Fortunately it was located nearer to the surface than the depths at which they had been traveling. The water outside was streaked with sunlight and Heero snapped off his seat-belt, standing up as best he could in the confined area and made his way to the back of the Pisces. There was a small sealed compartment in the back, made for times like this when the pilot needed to disembark underwater. Stepping into the tiny area, he closed and secured the door behind him before taking a mouthful of air and slamming his fist onto the panel on the side of the wall, lowering the back hatch of the MS and flooding the compartment with water. Temporarily slammed back into the door behind him (such kinks were not worked out; this was supposed to be an emergency exit), Heero pushed off into the water after the initial flood stunned him, kicking hard for the surface still some distance above.

Wufei growled low in his throat as the Cancer skidded to a halt, scraping its bottom on the rocky crevice. This was not going as well as he had hoped. It was not even as though they were on a major fault line! Sure, earthquakes were common because of the volcano, but the vast majority were nowhere near as big as any of that!

He exited the MS the same way that Heero had, although he noted grimly that the door didn't seal itself back into place like it was supposed to, meaning that the interior of the Cancer was now flooded and completely useless as opposed to mostly dead. This was not the time to think about that, though... And he broke through the water at the surface, gasping heavily and swam quickly over to the side of the rocky cliffs jutting out of the water where Heero was already waiting, crouching on the rocks, having managed to climb out without being pounded into them by the surf.

"Not our best entrance."

Heero gave Wufei a dryly quizzical look. "It worked, didn't it? Come on." He opened the pouch hanging at his side, jeans and tanktop dripping with the salt water, and pulled out a pair of metal spikes to scale the cliffs with. "We need to hurry."

It figured. While both Trowa and Quatre had somehow managed the first shock just fine, but no, Duo managed to get himself promptly thrown into a bed of giant kelp. Joy. The more the braided pilot tried to loose himself, the worse the tangled mess became....It was like trying to brush a particularly stubborn not out of his hair...However, in this case unlike the other, he was free to cut himself out of the situation. He grabbed a small knife he'd strapped to his wet suit, and started hacking away at the green vegetation.

After about seven minutes, he was finally free of the salad from hell. He hadn't wanted to waste so much time, especially when in this sort of situation it was of the essence, but it really couldn't have been avoided. He swam back to the other two pilots, and promptly said, "Thanks so much for the help, guys." Duo, at least, thought the sarcasm was merited as he was a little annoyed to be the only one sent in a strange direction.
