 Omg Talim! I just had to reply, because I think what you posted is very, very interesting! <3 It's an outlook that I've never heard before. True, Tifa is a source of an "un-wanted" connection, but if it wasn't for her, Cloud wouldn't have over come what went wrong in his past. I think that she helped him understand that she wasn't dissapointed in him, and that things really weren't his fault. And of course, made him realize what his real feelings were, and weren't. :]
But I see what you're saying! Before the Lifestream scene, Cloud remembers Tifa as... the girl that he wanted to impress, the girl he thought he let down. When Aeris comes along, they become friends and he starts to warm up to her as well as Tifa. In my opinion, I think that this is a fresh start for both girls. :] And Cloud. I mean, what Cloud and Tifa had in the past wasn't much, but they still had the promise --- the good and the bad. I think that Cloud's feelings for Tifa develope more and more throughout the game as well as they do with Aeris, and the Lifestream scene is the confirmation: Cloud loves Tifa, and Tifa loves Cloud. Of course, this is just my opinion and all. x3
I agree that Aeris' feelings were pure, just confused. I like how you put that! But... it's debated on whether she knew Zack died or not. At the end of Crisis Core, it shows her looking shocked as Zack dies. She's an ancient, and she can tell when people return to "the planet" aka the lifestream. So, again--- I think that Aeris was in denial. She had been alone for a long time after that, and then when Cloud comes along, the same way Zack did, makes his same gestures, has the same look about him--- of course Aeris will like him. I think she has a right to. Who's to say otherwise anyway, especially when Cloud is so nice to her?
AND omg. People who don't like Aeris are always saying "Well, she wouldnt leave Cloud alone in the beginning". I love how you defended that just so perfectly. <3 I like Aeris too, but I do admit that she is quite clingy in more than one instance. I think that's fine, but just a little annoying at times.
I absolutely love how you say that Cleris is the springboard for a healthier Cloti. Marvelous! <3

LunarSchemer, I have to agree with you on the "denial" part.
It's always confused me as to why Aeris didn't know Zack had died -- it's stated pretty early in the game Aeris knows when people have moved on. I thought perhaps she ignored the Lifestream in order to deny her Ancient bloodline, but maybe straight out denial is a better answer.

There are some that in denial of Aeris' doing but it's not her fault when it begin.. for instantance,sure she flirted to get Cloud's attention,but she looked at him as a reminder of Zack Fair.

I wouldn't say that it's her fault. She is human after all and it's only natural for someone to be in denial especially when it comes to their loved ones dying. Either they accept reality or just lie to themselves. It's no necessarily bad, but because of that she confused herself with feelings for Zack and feelings for Cloud.

Twindream Me too Lunar. xd I just hated Aeris. She always seemed to be the "Mary Sue" type of character. Her perkiness always annoyed me and she was rude, selfish, insensitive. But I too began to respect her...a little in The Maiden. In a lot of ways, her personality was the same in FFVII, but she was more likable because it was just...about her, how she acted. It was more clear how she was. And she didn't seem the naive, clingy girl like we see in FFVII. In fact, I kind of liked her because of her spunkiness. Well, she was a bit spunky in FFVII, but it was more apparent in The Maiden. I respected her, but I still didn't like her that much. It wasn't until I joined the AerTi Guild that I actually grew to respect Aeris. I don't love her as I love Tifa, but I think she's a pretty decent character. 3nodding

i am a new member but i think everyone can see how you would like cloud.am a guy i wouldd want to be his friend.and if any of you have lost a loved one its hard and it a good thing if you can,t take it to be in denial.but it,s wrong how she got clouds feeling into that.i would feel sorry for him.

Well, in the U.S, I think people have gotten tired of the whole "damsel-in-distress" kind of girl. They like girls who can kick a** like Tifa. Personally, I didn't like Aeris because of the fact that she can be a bit clingy and self-centered but I respect her because she's brave and caring.

I can't stand Aeris.
Look, I don't have some spectacular essay on it like bereave does, but I could make one if I needed to. rofl
I just think her selfishness outweighs her non-existant good qualities. The way I see, it was obvious Tifa loved Cloud, plain as day. Every one could see it, and so could Aeris because she got busted asking him out on a date in front of Tifa and she got frazzled. Its like,
"Oh! I'll pretend to be concerned about your feelings so I can get closer to your man"
Sort of thing. So what if Tifa didnt VOICE it, she sure as hell showed it, and if Aeris werent as blind as a bat, maybe she would've backed off. Or of course there's my belief--- she wasnt blind, she just wanted Cloud all to her PRECIOUS INNOCENT ANGEL self. rolleyes
Sounds really bad the way Ive written it, right? too bad its true then. 4laugh
Kudos Aeris! You saved the planet from meteor randomly at the end of the game. She didnt SACRAFICE s**t. She didnt know she was going to be killed, as I believe anyway. So shes in the lifestream by default and notices, "oh gee now I have the power to save the planet guess Ill do that since I was worthless on earth lolz".
Call it sacrafice, I call it lame.
I am like the biggest flirt on the planet but even i have respect enough to not flirt on someone whos taken, or if its CLEAR that someone else has feelings for that person.
