The old man was keen that was for sure but Davey wasn't going to divulge all his secrets so soon, it had to be earned. Clearly this Raist character was sharp and most likely quick whited so it shall be a game of whits then, let us see who has the most about him

Riastlin chuckled and sat back in his chair "Was it freedom, or was it a woman?" he asked with a quirked brow and a sip of his wine. "Women have a way of changing things" he said with a light nod

Davey quirked an eyebrow at him "Aye women have such power but it was for a woman I took the job and despite of her I left it." He took another sip of his ale it had been a long time since he had sat and talked so long, and never before about this .. he wasn't sure how he felt, in a strange way it was nice to talk about something he had never voiced before, but at the same time it was odd as if keeping the truth to himself was what made him who he was and giving it up was who he wasn't... course what he had said was only half truth but the full truth could be read into it which he was sure this one was capable of doin... still best not tell him everything ... maybe the ale was finally affecting him... he should stop for a while sober up a bit, in a game of wits you need all you can muster and ale had a way of stripping them from you

Raistlin tilted his head again, " You left for her, or because of her?" he asked, sipping his tea. He'd had more then enough wine for the day, he wasnt feeling it, but he didnt want to push his luck. A drunk mage, was not pretty. And one with his power? Oh that was not encouraged. He tilted his head again, this time at an inner thought. He wasnt sure how he felt about this lad. he didnt have an urge to spill all his innermost secrets, but at the same time, there was almost a comfortable familiarity with the sea king.

"Because of" there was indifference in his voice, it had been too long ago and he was with her again anyhow so he held no regret or anger or sadness, it was merely a fact of his life

Raistlin nodded again "Even the most powerful have blundered for a woman" he thought of his old crew, and what Tanis did for Laurana, he had to chuckle, he was the only one of his group who did not sacrifice for a woman. Bupu...was different, there was no love there, just kindred spirits who could relate.

"Women shouldnt be alowed anywhere" he said with another chuckle. He shrugged lightly "I myself, have never fallen for a woman" he sipped his tea, the wine had irritated his throat, now he was trying to remedy it.

"Aye that they do" without realizing it Davey had finished his second pint how long had they been talking? This was a rare occasion indeed to lose track of time while talking to another, he had even managed to lose sight of his goal for this conversation ... how very intriguing.

A smirk played over Riastlin's maw. He shifted, growing restless having been sitting so long "I'm not prone to sitting for so long" he said with a light chuckle, holding his staff close

Raistlin inclined his head again "My thanks" he said rising, using his staff as a walking stick, until he stabalized again. He paid his thanks to the barkeep, and shuffled out of the pub. His tails flicked, and his ears twitched, getting used to the nature sounds instead of the bussle of the pub. "Any particular direction?" he asked with a tilt of his head
