Marcus High school officially gotthe highest score at a super regional ever at BOA SA. 96.2. How is that achievable! We got a 95.6 at grand nats and we only got 2nd. How did they reach such a level!

I will see some of you guys next week. I'm heading up to indy for grand nats as well.

Yeah okay, we didn't make finals which is really disappointing. We had a great run, the best of the season and our director even said it was great. But I guess band in Texas is brutal

eh. we didn't even get a run with all the trailers on our parking lot, and then Dawson lent the field to Reagon... and they were practicing for hours. but really, we aren't a BOA band; we actually march and play the entire time.
I noticed that too! Everyone we saw was either marching or playing, not both. Some people's shows were like 50% visuals. We actually move the whole time with a few holds.

We actually got to use Churchill's field on Saturday before finals were announced, and on Friday we went to this small school and the entire school came and watched.

Dang. You must be a good band! biggrin And you're from Texas too...hmm...

We compete in BOA in California, but not for a while. We're doing some SCSBOA and WBA shows. We're going to Grand Nationals this year...I really hope we make finals...

Hecks yes! All the good bands are from Texas! Don't believe me, look up Hebron High School, LD Bell High School, and Marcus High School.

Where are you from, if Texas band is so brutal? Cuz, I'm from Fort Worth.

oh yes it is. my band (creekview) went to boa san antonio and got and 80.30 which is a pretty dang good score. WE GOT 26TH. OUT OF 55ish BANDS. if that's not brutal i don't know what is. but you gotta love texas marching band.
Yeah we got a 82.95 or something like that. 24th place. Not bad for our first regional since 2003.

My band (Fossil Ridge) went and got, like... 25th, I think. Rather disappointing...

-Starts wondering if he would be in one of these Texas bands had he not moved to Ohio-

Anywho, BOA weekend was great. My band got 13th for the second year in a row with a score of 90.25 (without the .4 deduction), but unlike last year, we're not too bummed. Our show was our best performance, and nothing else matters.

I was massively impressed by LD Bell, Avon, and Center Grove.

But maybe I just like the yellow things in LD Bell...

first i need to say that these are purely my opinions and should not related to my band/ state or anything else.

congrats to everyone who performed at GN this year, and it was really fun

My Opinion on Bell/BOA:
I loved bells show and was speechless after i saw it. my only problem is the 12 tubas sat the entire show....okay the put there susas on about halfway through the show but ended up kneeling at the back of the field for the last quarter. this only really bugged me cause i am out there jazz running, jumping, spinning on one foot and throwing my horn around for visual effect and then someone on the boa forums dares to say we had easy visual.....i loved how they played under the sheets though.

Bell came across as really mean and cocky to me. after semis awards we were going back for dinner and they were having a pep talk and the guy was lie "we are going to win, we deserve to win,you guys are winners and this program is a winning program." maybe its just cause our band is about heart and soul. My parents tried to talk to some of theirs and they were not treated very nice. and if you check out the break ranks podcast, in the very last one, the director was interviewed and he made fun of oiur show, "the road not taken," by saying his band was on definitely on the road less traveled by or something like that. maybe it was harmless but the fact that he laughed right after he said it was a little suspicious. they have a great program though, i was there for the beginning of two of there practices and the dedication and discipline they have. wow i was breathless after just seeing them walk in... i think there show was creepy in the best way of speaking and very clean.

anyway, as great as boa is and all the bands in it, i think they are drifting way to far away from marching band than they should. they are giving out points like candy for anyone who lies down or point a finger. how hard is that to to, come on, who hasn't lied down to go to sleep every night of their lives. our guard is looked down on when you dont even need to touch a flag or weapon to make finals. and the music..... it all sounds the same....

well just to clarify im not mad just a very argumentative person so ummm, argue. or agree

Muddles: I totally know what band you're in, and I felt bad. XD I liked your show too. But if you think it's good, that's all that matters.

Gotta agree with dragon on this one. On everything. I don't know who he is exactly, but I know what he's been through. XD

...sigh. Yeah, a lot of the good bands [according to judges] are from Texas.

But, as they say...

We're all winners in life. xD

Just giving some insight myself.

I liked Bells show. It's music was good, marching was spectacular, and color gaurd was amazing. The kids just care, and that is why they win. Those kids are so dedicated, and will do anything to get better. Their show was such a BOA show though. 3rd in their little trilogy; I guess third times the charm. I did talk to some of those bell kids, and they were very nice, yet they were a tiny bit into themselves, but the diserve to be! That school is not rich or anything, because the area that goes to that school are middle class suburbs.

I believe Avon should have one. Thats what a marching show should look and sound like. There wasn't one part of the show where you weren't on the edge of your seat. I really liked them.

Well, thats all I have got. I wish we had made semifinals, but so many freshman marchers fell...and nobody had straight lines. I guess our show was too complicated. heh

Thats because it was just soooo good. I liked the clock things, and the eeire music was sweet and constant. They really had no hold sets, yet the music was still as powerful as one. That was cool to me.

I hated Avon's show. Blegh. I may be inclined to be biased though. Avon's is like out most hated rival. I'm from Spirit of Central by the way. Got tenth... We have a theory that we'll win next year though. 2003 show that was entitled Breakthrough got 11th. Next year the show La Rosa won. We think it's just that time again. We're slipping so now we're gonna focus and take it back.

I have nothing against LD Bell, but I don't think they should have won. They should have won last year. I loved their show last year. But not this one...
