I am not particularly certain that this could be considered steampunk but Sword of the New World has that Victorian feel to it.

Sword of the New World (It was just called Granado Espada when I played the beta) is not so much Victorian as it is Baroque. It's based on the 1700s, not the 1800s and early 1900s, so it's not quite there.

As far as steampunky games, I'd also suggest Clive Barker's Undying (Victorian era England, and you use both guns and magical artifacts to fight ungodly things you come across). Not a lot of steamworks or gears and cogs, but the setting is there and so is the mysticism that's prevalent amongst steampunk and Victorian fiction works.

I would also go so far as to say the Ivalice setting in FF (specifically Tactics and XII and to a lesser degree Vagrant Story) were nearly steampunk. The technology was close to it, but it's more byzantine than Victorian.

A lot of the Castlevania games, particularly Symphony of the Night and those released since have steampunk elements to them (the Clock Tower area, anyone?), and I believe one of them is set in the Victorian era proper, but I can't recall which.

OH! And some of the Elder Scrolls games (specifically Morrowind) contain minor steampunk-esque elements. The Dwemer race, whose ruins scatter the landscape in Morrowind, use a lot of steam powered machinery and things like cogs and coherers are scattered around within those ruins. Maybe not significant to some, but it's something.

Drawn to Life for the DS is not SP, but it could be since you can draw your own characters and weapons and stuff. Or at least that's what I'm trying to do. Like all my platforms are steam powered and stuff.

Actually I'm downloading NeoSteam right now, since the download for closed beta was released today.

It's actually based off of steampunk, and well... I simply fell in love with it once I read up about the game.

Hm... well, it isn't quiiiiiiiiiite steampunk, but there's definitely some elements to it: here! It's called Gunz (officially Gunz the Duel, or something like that I think >_> ), and it's mainly a FPS. But! Some of the armor is decidedly steampunkish (especially the tophat/waistcoat set), and so are some of the settings (even if there is less gears than I'd like.... sad ). I'm not too familiar with it just yet (my boyfriend showed it to me, but school keeps getting in the way >_< ), but I like how you can use swords too! heart

*cough* Anyway... my contribution to the thread, since most of my other ones were mentioned (Myst.... xd ).

Oh! No, wait, I have one more. No one's mentioned Syberia yet. It's more set in modern times, but it has a ton of clockwork/automatons in it, and is basically you (playing as the main character) figuring out the heir to a Victorian automaton-maker's estate.... lots of gears, and clockworks, and even a (somewhat annoying) automaton to help you! And a clockwork train, and even an airship somewhere, I think.... *remembers it and smiles* That and Myst were the first games I were obsessed with (even though Myst was rather old by that point...).

Skies of Arcadia and Tales of Symphonia.

Oh wow... Yea, I'm a huge Myst fan. I've got all the games, the literature, and other random merchandise. It's very steampunk. I'm also a huge BioShock fan. Art deco with super weapons, unique storyline, and burning people with a snap of your fingers is heaven to me.

Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter. Well, these aren't so much steampunk, but they're still fun and filled with interesting gadgets.

Skies of Arcadia and Tales of Symphonia.

While I love Skies of Arcadia it isn't exactly steampunk even though it has some of the elements, mostly its depending on where you are. The ships, weapons are powered by moonstones so therefore wouldn't exactly qualify as steampunk.

One day I hope to create my game idea which has some steampunk elements like a boss attached to a giant clock; where he uses the minute and hour hand as weapons and the attacks are based of the time he indicates.

I must agree on Myst and McGee's-- two of my favourite games, particularly Myst IV: Revelations. I do hope they come out with another one.

No-one has yet mentioned Rule of Rose? While it does deal with Imps and fantasy to some extent, and it drifts a little more towards the Twenties now and then, the steampunk element is definitely present. Most of the game takes place on a dirigible, for goodness sake! (Rule of Rose is a rather terrifying survival-horror game in which the player character Jennifer has been kidnapped by a society made up entirely of corrupt young children. The children do rather awful things to each-other, and the elite of the group call themselves the Aristocrats of the Red Crayon)

@Mystagen: There is a boss like that, to some extent. In Kingdom Hearts, an optional boss in Neverland uses Big Ben as a weapon, and the PC (Sora) must attack the hour and minute hands to make the boss himself vulnerable.

Haha, I agree with Myst, American McGee's Alice, and Bioshock, most definitely. Theyre favorites of mine.

I don't think it's been named yet, but I've just finished playing through Penny Arcade Adventures : On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode 1.

The game may not be entirely based on steam-power, but it had some pretty heavy similarities and oozes the style we generally see in Steampunk stuff.

Also, in Timeshift (which is very futuristic), the "alternate" reality you fight through has some pretty heavy steampunk-ish influence.

Right now I'm playing Tales of the Abyss, and it has a fair amount of Steampunk elements (for example, the entire town of Sheridan). Sure, they explain it as something else, but I just ignore that and make up my own, steamier plot. Muahahaa.
I saw Tales of Symphonia mentioned earlier, and it occured to me that most of the tales games have at least one town that isdefinitely Steampunk influenced.
