On unsure toddler feet Holden had tripped but he was never one to give up the illusion and stop pretending once he had started. So he pretended as if he had been hit, letting out a loud cry and sprawled out on the ground.
"I'm sure you and Adair will get along just fine. He seems nice and your a great person," Tristan said sure that Kainda and her little gryphon would have a relationship as good as any. Then with a bit of a sigh he added, "What I wouldn't give to be a charmer."

Adair watched as Holden fell back. With his imagination running on high the boy ran quickly to swoop but he also tripped. With a cry he fell forward, imagining an arrow in his leg or some such thing. "My leg!" Adair called out. "They're going to catch us Holden!" he warned quickly, slashing at the empty air.
Kainda shrugged a bit at Tristan's reasurence though she glanced at him when he made his wish. "Why?" she asked him softly, intrested. Kainda was far from a charmer but she never really wanted to be one. Then again Kainda was one of the blessed few with a healthy ego that didn't blind her to her flaws, or make her talk about herself a lot.

It was pretty special the way a child's mind could run away with them. Right now Holden felt sure that the two children were in trouble and that something needed to be done about it. He looked around for something, anything that would save them from rival pirates or whatever it was.
And he found the answer, a bush not that far away that would be perfect for hiding them. He got up pretending to limp as if he were hurt and went to Adair to help him up and over into the bush to hide.
Tristan shrugged sort of sheepishly. "I had a hard time making friends before and it was pretty bad because I'm a pretty social person," he said, "being a charmer would make it easier."

Adair leaned heavily on Holden as he helpped him to the bush. aDair looked over the shrub to the very empty feild behind them then ducked down again and made, a quite useless 'shhhh' symbol to Holden as he too fell silent.
They had to hide.
Kaindra nodded a bit then shrugged. "I geuss that would make it a bit harder." she admited, rolling her shoulders back, "But when you get friends at least you know they like you just the way you are." she admited. "Wishing to change something about you that you can is rather useless. I think you're fine the way you are."

Holden just nodded, not even realizing the pointlessness of the gesture himself, being so caught up in everything that way going on. He went still and waited for some sign that there imaginary pursuer might have gone.
Tristan blushed a little and noddedm he wasn't quite use to compliments. "Thanks," he said.

Adair was silent for as long as the young boy could handle, which was less than five minutes, before he sighed and grinned over at his first mate happily.
"They're gone." He decided, and then let out a loud laugh. "That was great Holden! You sure are lots of fun." Adair decided, then grined over at him. "Want to be best friends?" He asked.
Kainda grinned at Tristen's blush but shrugged away the thanks, and the compliment. "It's the truth Tristan. You got a lot to offer people. Don't be afraid too."

Holden let out a sigh of relief, feeling so much better now that they weren't in danger that wasn't really there in the first place.
He smiled at being called fun, and if he talked he would have returned the compliment. He was certain that he hadn't ever had this much fun before. When Adair asked him if he wanted to be best friends he nodded vigerously.
Tristan shrugged a little. He didn't really agree, other than a ridiculous amount of knowledge on mammals and their behaviour and on movies, there wasn't much else he was very good at or that he could offer, but he wouldn't point that out now.

Adair grinned at the agreement and held out his hand. He felt there should be some great spirtual act that they did to bond it but he had no idea what. After a moment he got an idea. His claws lifted up and plucked a feather from his head with a wince. On the tip of the feather was a speck of blood, that quickly dried. Adair rubbed his head, the small wound healing easily as the gryphon handed Holden his feather.
"There. A feather for you, to prove we're best friends. You can ask Tristian to make it into a necklace or keep it in your room or something." Adair suggested, grining happily at his idea. "And if you want you can give me something of yours, and I'll keep it on me always." he added, trying not to push while still eager for the exchange.
Kainda didn't know if his past, of his sorrows or mistakes, so she jsut smiled once and hopped what she said made an impact. "And I think you're a good friend, so you know, if you ever want to talk I'm willing too."

Holden looked at the feather with awe. It was so pretty and he he took the feather, eagerly and happily but also with great care. He tried hard to think of something he could give in return, something as special as the feather. It took him a while, he didn't really think he had anything special but then it came to him.
"Back. Room," he said with a grin when he remembered, and he gestured back in the general direction of his home.
"Thanks, I appreciate it," said Tristan, and he really did. It was nice to know he had another friend. "Same goes. I mean, I don't know if you have anything to talk about or anything, and I'm not always the best person to talk to, but I'd like to do what I can."

"I dunno, friends are cheaper than therapists." Kainda said with a laugh, and shrugged off her problems. She wasn't expactly ready to delve into her inablity to hold down a job, her problems with her family and her lack education just yet, just as she was sure, he wasn't ready to delve straight into his problems.
"Okay!" Adair said eagerly, leading his friend, no his best friend. Back to the house. Luckily their epic battle of priates and life and death didn't take them that far from the house. Adair wasn't that worried. He was pretty sure he could fly. He hadn't tried it out yet and was unadmitadly a little afraid of the attempt but he was sure he could do it. Which in his mind was the same as being able too. When they reached the door Adair knocked.
Kainda's ears twitched as she got up, pretty sure it was the kids and opened it for them, looking down at the kids. "Hey there guys, back so soon?" she asked.
"We're just going back to Holden's room for a bit. I gave him a feather and he's going to maybe give me something to show that we're the best friends." Adair eagerly explained, not wanting to wait so he was already heading up the stairs.
He loved presents.

Holden just went once the door was open, not bothering to pay attention to the adults there and headed straight for his room. Once he and Adair were both inside he closed the door behind them. He had to be careful about this. Not even Tristan knew about what he was about to show Adair.
He went to his bed and crawled underneath it for a moment before emerging again with a box. It was a box that was completely wrapped in tin foil. Holden began to sift through it. It was filled with various different things. There were a few dvds, some tin foils balls and lord knows how much spare change he had in there along with a number of other shiny objects.
He looked through it for a moment, trying to find something. At last he found it at the bottom of the box. A shiny black smooth stone, so shiny that it was pretty much reflective. It wasn't anything really special but he liked shiny thing and he thought this one wasparticularly pretty. He smiled brightly as he handed it over.
"'emitite," he said, saying what it was to the best of his ability.

Adair blinked when he brought out the shiny tin foil, his claws twitching in a new found desire. He and his new best friend had another thing in common, a love of shiny things, and a willingness to just take. Gryphons were known for having vasts amounts of treasures because of their love of shiny, much like raccons were known for having many things in their nests.
When Holden held out the rock Adair reached out carefully, not wanting to scratch it. His claws moved around it carefully and slowly he brought it too him and smiled at it as he looked to the surface. It was pretty. Not girl pretty, which would be icky, but boy pretty which was almost a contradition but then again so where boys.
"Cool, thanks Holden, it's perfect!" Adair told him and slipped it into his pocket. He'd have to get something so he could wear it all the time. A small pouch that could go around his neck would be perfect. He'd ask Kainda for one, he was sure the kitsune could get it. She got everything else Adair asked for.

Holden beamed, rather pleased with himself for picking something that Adair thought perfect. He smiled cause he had a best friend too, which was a big thing in the life of a child.
The question was what do he and his new found best friend do now. He thought for a moment on how to pose this question without words but he couldn't think of anything so he was reduced to speech, "what now?"

"We can play another game. I know, we're two exploer brothers and we need to find the super special plant 'cause you're sick, and can't talk." Adair told him, grining at the idea. Knowing Holden would like the no talking part. "And if we don't find the plant in time you'll die so we have to save you. Or we can do something else. One nod for this one, two for something else." Adair wanted to be helpful to his best friend, not force him into anything.
His clawed had easily slipped the stone into his pocket so he wouldn't loose it and then came out again as he glanced at the trees, perfect for two explorers needing to find the special plant.

Holden was greatful that his oddities were factored into the brain storming for their next game, also very greatful that Adair asked him questions in a way that didn't require speech. He nodded once because he did like the sound of the exploring game and who could turn down a non-speaking role?
He put his new feather away before they took off to play once more. He place it in his tin foil box with all the rest of his most prized possesions. He'd do something with it later but for now he knew it would be safe there.
