Keirro looked behind her as her sudden burst of speed started to drain her energy. She started to run out of breath, but she was going to push herself until she could try to wear out the wolf.

"Howl..all..you..want." she panted.

Keirro laughed and fell back with Silver. She couldn't stop laughing. Her stress was melting away and she turned to look at Silver and tugged on one of his ears with her manicured fingernails.

"I need to send you to a dog trainer then." she giggled.

Ranis followed the duo and crashed into the pile of leaves with Silver and Keirro. The half nakid boy curled up next to Keirro and buried himself under the leaves. He looked positively like a wild child.

Keirro chuckled.

"It wouldn't be the first time I've tried to tame a beast." Keirro chuckled in Silver's ear. Keirro sat up up and picked up the child. She shook her head and tried to pick the leaves and sticks from the boy's hair.

" You're a mess. I don't know what I would do without you though." she smiled. This was the first time she started to realize just how special Ranis was. She once cursed fate to dumping the child into her home, but now she was starting to wonder if the boy was what she had wanted all along.

Keirro kept herself preoccupied with clothings Ranis. She watched Silver hack away at the log. She felt embarrassed about her pass at Silver now, but kept quiet. She looked back to Ranis and kept her eyes away from Silver. She felt herself start to clam up again.

So what could she do now? Apologize? He might even have been oblivious. All the better if he never noticed Keirro's half-assed attempt at making a move.

"Ranis loves chicken." Keirro responded. It was starting to get dark. Keirro could already see the twinkle of stars she was unfamiliar with. How dark would it get out here? Keirro smiled at Ranis as the boy started to stick close to his guardian.

anis looked around him nervously and started to whine. He was still afraid of the dark, even though his night vision gave him an advantage over Keirro. He held tightly onto Keirro's jeans and kept his ears alert.

"What...is that thing?' Keirro said with a grimace. She had never seen a racoon and the cartoons she watched on tv featured racoons as being small and cuddly. They looked nothing like this animal waiting from outside the light.

"Bah! Bah!" Ranis barked. He bared his teeth at the racoon and got down on his hands and knees. He crouched down to the ground and prepared to lunge at the poor animal.

Keirro sat next to Silver as she tugged Ranis away from the raccoon.

"That's a real raccon?" Keirro asked as she tried to calm Ranis down. She held the boy in her lap. She watched the raccoon scamper off into the night.

"I've never seen a Raccon before." she said.

Ranis simply growled in retaliation, but did not try to attack the raccoon again. HE simply sat grumpily in Keirro's lap and crossed his arms. He was only trying to protect Keirro.

"It looks so strange." said Keirro. She looked up at the night sky and nearly gasped. The night sky looked like millions of diamonds that were placed in onyx. She had never seen so many stars before in her life. Even in the suburbs, light pollution had chased the stars away. The night sky in a city always had a strange red tint in the horizon that made Keirro think that the sun was about to rise.

Ranis settled himself down and kept himself occupied with a leaf he found near the fire and studied it in the dark. It looked like it belonged to a maple tree. The boy sniffed the leaf and could pick up traces of other animals that had brushed it.
