GundamIsGod Hoshi no Miko Aww, I must prostest against this Wufei hate ;_; However, I will admit that before I read Episode Zero and really began to understand his character, I didn't really care for him either. I wondered what his issue was and basically complained about him a lot. Episode Zero is a wonderful little graphic novel... I find there's much more character appreciation after you've read it. Indeed. Although I'm still wondering about Trowa's relation to Cathrine. I've read it like... ten times and I'm still like... "Are they or aren't they?! (Siblings.)" I've kind of given up caring at this point, but still... Confused... emo eh. if they are not biologically brother and sister, then that's what they are to each other. And I do agree Episode zero rocks, but i can't finish it until i get some glue (the cover peice that covers the binding is falling off)

the charcter i can't stand is quatre. infact i just wish he would have died. he is much too merciful for the job he has as a gundam pilot. yes he may be skilled but not so much when compared to the other gundam pilots. he is by far the weakest in combat skills. he may be good at stratagy but that can only get you so far if the other pilots arnet there to help him. his army of 40 can't do everything. i also think he is a total spaz.

I really don't care for Dorothy. In fact, every time I see her it makes me cringe a little bit on the inside. I'm really not sure what possessed them to draw her eyebrows like that...maybe at the time it was supposed to have some hidden meaning, like to represent her cunning or masculinity or something...but it really doesn't work for me. And her views of war drive me nuts, all the way through the series and into Endless Waltz. Honestly, every time she spouts her opinion on battle and whatnot, I just want to jump into the TV screen, hook her up with a gun and shove her onto a battlefield. See how she likes it then! scream

But she gets over that view of war by the end of the show. In EW, she supports the boys. >_>
And I think her eyebrows were drawn that way to show that she's related to Treize.

What is Dorothy's relation to Treize, anyway? Are they cousins? I know Duke Dermail was her grandfather and (unless I'm mistaken) Treize's uncle, so what does that make Dorothy & Treize to each other? I could never figure it out. sweatdrop
@gundam fan zero: I have to disagree; I think Quatre is one of the strongest. It's so easy to kill someone, but to spare their lives even when they, by all rights, deserve to die. . . that takes strength.
Besides, he's the tactician of the group-- a pretty important role.
. . . How is he a "spaz"? neutral

Well, we know that Dermail is Dorothy's grandfather. IIRC, someone says that Treize is Dermail's nephew. That, technically, makes them first cousins once removed. If you happen to be one of the people that thinks Mariemaia is Treize's legitimate daughter (as opposed to his daughter in spirit, as most fans feel regardless), then she would be Dorothy's second cousin.
It helps having genealogist parents. biggrin

You know what, I think I like everyone in this anime ... even if I don't "like" them, I think that they're interesting. There were a few annoying extras but they were never around long enough to grate my nerves.

Or is it symbolic of a character trait? I know in the Middle Ages, they used physique to tell everything from health to character. I wonder what bushy eyebrows meant?

In War, having great strategists is just as, if not more, important than having great warriors. That's where Quatre comes in. Without him, the other four would have fallen like flies.

I also must protest about his being a spaz... I would like some evidence to back that up because I really don't see it. Quatre is optemistic, friendly, and hopeful. Sure he can come off as a little exhuberant, but he's never really spazed out over anything. If one wants to argue that he did when his sister and his father passed away I REALLY have to disagree, that was not spazzing out that was genuine emotional trauma.

i never said that he wasn't a good statagist. what i did say was that if the others were not there his stratagy would be almost useless. and if he is so good at stratagy how come he, duo, and trowa couldn't take down milliardo, who was by himself except for the two MD'S that he was controling while fighting all three of them at the same time. milliardo is by far the most skilled pilot on the entire series.

Quatre's the weakest in a team of OMGWTFBBQ skill level guys - he's still many times better than your average pilot, and is good enough to not hold the rest of them back. As for Milliardo, it isn't always easy to fire off a strategy when a super pilot flies at you out of the blue and starts wailing on you. Especially when he knows how to use shield equipped MD's to his advantage.
Quatre's probably the least valuable on the front lines, I'd say.
Anyways, do pilots automatically have to be uber in order to get your approval? You should see all the people who get Gundams in Zeta for crying out loud... does the Methuss ever get a really good pilot?
