Eli felt a little nervoursness coming off the girl as she tried to speed up. He was thinking of the shadow dogs that were being caused so much pain. Their anger and misery were almost unbearable. He hade never seen so much hatred out side of that between his mother and father. Even then it wasn't even close to them.

As they got to the door, he looked at the man that, what he guessed was, the wolves had so much anger for. He watched him working at some sort of dial, before turning to make sure there were no other creatures hiding around. They were still in the other room but the barrier was gone, he could see the shadow and shapes of the creatures through the ice that was starting to melt.

Eli also started to speed up to get through the door before it did have a chance to melt. 'Those dogs are scary'

Mathias finished twisting the several dials into place, the symbols reading "An untrackable transit to the Light Station", and hit the small button as he poured psi into the two plates nearby. "Get in the circle!" He yelled to the group as he slammed the door. As he himself stepped into the circle millions of beams of light poured from the engraved circle and from all the runes on the walls, intersecting neatly in the same place.

The door burst open and the few remaining shadow hounds ran in as Mathias pulled the group into the circle, then plunged his hand into the orb of light forming at the intersection. There was a brief moment when he felt nonexistant, then the orb grew, engulfing the whole circle.

Mathias stepped out of the dwindling orb into a similar room, but there were no Hounds here. "Welcome to the Light Station." He turned around and tapped a button on the control panel and the light faded as the rest of the people fell to the ground. "Oops."

"Unlike me, unlike me... Do you think I'm strange?"

"Welcome to the Light Station."

The strange orb of light that had swelled to enclose her only moments before suddenly retreated and Alyssa felt her knees collapse beneath her as she landed hard on the ground. She blinked repeatedly, trying to clear her vision, but the afterimages of the light were still burned onto her retinas. She didn't really understand what was happening, but that seemed to be routine in this place.

She looked around, remembering those who had accompanied her and hoping that they'd made it through that... ball-of-light, transport-y thing. Thankfully, on either side of her were the boy and girl who had supported her. She let out a small sigh of relief. Good. I'm guessing I'll need all the help I can get in this place, she thought.

As the flashes of colour retreated and she was able to see a little more of the room she was in, she realised that it looked very similar to the one that they had just been in. The main difference was that there were no shadow-dogs here. Or maybe, they're just not here yet? She wasn't ready to let her guard down so soon.

She looked over to the boy - the one who'd made the shield of sparks before, and seemed to be much more sure of himself than the others - and saw him standing close by, next to what appeared to be some kind of control panel? It had a lot of buttons, dials and switches, anyway, and it looked pretty important. It must have been him who had spoken before.

"What is this place?" Alyssa asked, her quiet voice carrying easily in the silence of the room.
I only hope I'm able to understand the answer...

Eli had never experienced light travel before. He had read how it was possible but not with the technology that was available. Or was it that he found it on the net? What was the net again? It was still a blur though he could remember his name. He was suprised that he had forgotten it to begin with.

After the light dissapeared and he found himself on the floor of a similar room he found that the same group was there with him. Including the girl he had dragged to the door.

Once the dazzling images of light that imprinted on his eyes had gone he heard the girl speak, asking what this place was. Eli listened intently, hoping to have some answers himself.

Something weird happened though. He heard, or thought he heard, whispers from beside him, but not. As if they were speaking to him in his mind, and not to his ears. It puzzled him, as it was quiet and he couldn't really hear it that well.

His attention turned back to the man with the sparks. Waiting for his answer to her question.

The shock of the sudden stop, paired with the grief of the previous battle, left Mara a little woozy when the light-travel came to an end. She found herself staring at a seemingly familiar floor. Looking around, she was happy to see that the others had made it. And it helped that the shadow pups were nowhere in sight. Next to her, she heard the girl pose a question to their fearless leader, of sorts.

Then another thought crossed her mind, and she placed a suggestion.

"We really do deserve an explaination. And if we've got time for that, is there any way we can just, ya know, breathe? Maybe at least say Hey, I'm .::insert name::."

She felt badly that she had sounded so demanding, and had been since her arrival. She became very aware of that moment, as she awaited The boy's response.

"Wow. I've never heard anyone pronounce a colon before. But anyways, it's Mathias." He sighed. "Maybe I was a little sudden. But then again, that attack confirms what I knew. The psi, that energy you saw being used, and that several of you used, is leaking into our world. When too much goes, powers start to fade. They fade anyways, over time, but the sheild against shadow dogs should have held for fifty more years. Yet, as you saw. it failed. By now they will have dome what they came to do. The Seven Portal, or at least the channel for the Psicity that matches New York City in our world, has been destroyed. It still exists, but soon all the dials will align all over the world, and many more people will come. Nobody can stop the Final Opening of the Seventh and Final Portal." He glanced at their mostly clueless faces and pulled out a book from his pocket. This one was written in english. "In the year 1666, there was a horrible fire in London. On September Second the fire started, destroying a secret 'military' project. The project was left in ruins until the Fifth of the same month, when the fire died down and the scientists activated the machine, meant to cause time travel. Unfortunately, the scientists had failed to check the power sources, which were a diamond, an emerald, a ruby, a sapphire, and a topaz, which were all burnt and thus imperfect. When the machine was activated, the enormous amount of energy sent through the crystals leaked into the air. Reality would be destroyed unless a paralell universe was created. So the realities split from each other, close yet unreachable. In one, the machine almost worked and sent them through time to the point when the sun was swallowed in a black hole, kiling them and taking the secrets with them. In the other world, the enrgy sent all the scientists into the brief future for an instant, then sent then to the paralell universe, which was dubbed the Psiworld. In order to get back, the people built seven portals. The first one, called One Portal, was housed in a tower of Glass, and could send anyone back to the Realworld. The One Portal was lost later on in an explosion that destroyed the tower. The Second portal didn't work right, due to the scientists not knowing how to use their powers, and would transform whoever passes through it into whichever form last thought of. The Three portal, made to counter the effects of Two portal, restores your body to its natural form, without any scars or injuries. Four Portal was their biggest mistake yet. It was a portal supposed to send them back in time, originally designed to get them to One Portal. However, the process required to make a portal that strong involved creating a homunculus, or false human, embodying time, who abruptly created more minions and traveled into its own private universe. Time and Space bent from its force, and so Five Portal was supposed to send the scientists to that seperate universe. They fought, and lost, and were fused with Time's minions, each minion embodying a seperate power. The group that was left behind created the Six Portal, for travel through the Psiworld, and the Seven Portal, to bring people to the Psiworld. They mistereously vanished shortly after, with the only clue to where they went saying 'In the Tower of Glass, in the Animalia Station, in the Cure Station, in the Ruins of the Crystal Tower, in the Golden Tower, in the Light Station, and in the Silver Tower. Seven Portals combined have the power to stop him.'"

Rather unbecomingly, Alyssa goggled at Mathias. She barely stopped her jaw from dropping open at some of the things he was saying. Psi? Parallel universes? Crazy scientists in the 1600's? She found it all very difficult to believe, and she would have thought he was lying to her if she hadn't seen some very strange things in the past few minutes. That and his deadpan delivery. Very convincing. He should go into advertising, she thought distractedly.

Uncomfortably, she ran a hand through her short black hair, wincing as her fingers brushed a lump just behind her right ear. Ouch. So I did hit my head.

Wrinkling her nose, a habitual action resulting from her trying hard to concetrate on something she didn't understand at all (she'd most recently worn this look while doing her calculus homework the night before), she looked up at Mathias and tried to phrase her questions in a way that wouldn't make her sound like she was completely lost.

"So... you're saying that this," she gestured vaguely around her, encompassing the whole room, "isn't Earth, we were brought here involuntarily somehow and we now all have crazy powers? What is psi, what does it do?" The questions poured out in a rush and she had to make an effort to stop the flow of words, consciously fighting an edge of hysteria creeping across her thoughts. There was no way that losing control of herself was going to help. She focused on her breathing, deepening and holding each breath slightly before letting it out and she began to feel better. It's just like at school, I've got to keep myself thinking straight and I'll be fine...

Belatedly, she remembered the sparkly-blue-girl's words. "And my name's Alyssa," she added quietly. She felt suddenly embarrassed and bowed her head to avoid meeting anyone's gaze. Introductions had never been her strong suit.

((EDIT: I just realised I'd better warn you guys, I'm going to London for 2 days so I won't get on Gaia until Friday, probably. Maybe really, really late Thursday night, but I doubt it. So have fun and I'll see you in 48 hours~ <3 xo))

{{Have fun in London!}}

Mara smirked at the boy, "Yeah, it tends to throw people off."

Feeling quite elated to be seemingly safe, Mara brightened even more when the girl beside her spoke up. But all was not well in her mind. She had listened the boy's words, and they were not lost on her. Even so, she was safe for the moment, and she'd just have to deal with the rest as it came.

Smiling at the girl, she too introduced herself, "It's nice to meet you, Alyssa. I'm Mara..."

She began to feel woozy again, but shook it off and forced another weak smile, while waiting to hear what everyone else had to say.

{{London? Lucky. Sorry, I can't post an actual post until Saturday or Sunday...}}

"Funny." Mathias said as he closed the book. "What do you THINK is real?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 23, 2007 1:38 am

{{That's cool. Take you're time. Till then...}}

"I try," Mara said with a wink, though she was curious as to what his question meant. After thinking for a moment, she went for a more personal answer, "As far as the question you pose, I only think when I wish to be witty. When it's time to act, I only know. And what I know is that so long as my body and mind are fuctioning as a pair, then I'm experiencing something real... Or were you asking a completely different question?"

At this, her face began to redden, causing her to bow her head a little.

{{YAY I got a few minutes}}

"Well, that's what I'd expect you to say!" Mathias started pacing around the room, feeling the wall for the small door that was hidden. "There is a theory that there is only one person, and that we/they only experience what they want to. In other words, if that theory was real I could be talking to a figment of my imagination." He paused, knocking on a panel that had the rune for Open drawn on it. "No offence, of course! But you see, I can't give you a real answer-any of you-without explaining something. When we are here, the universe expands to accomidate us who can't Flip between realities. We are both there and here, and when we return to the real world, we will have memories of both there and here. We are living there, I'm probably going to classes at school right about now, but we are also here. there are two bodies with almost identical minds. For us to be accomidated, we must lose our memories of there when we come here, because that is sufficient mental energy to split the minds. When we rejoin that world, we won't have been gone to them, and will remember everything 'we' did." Again he paused, then started yelling as he telekinetically moved several stones out of the way, making a loud scraping sound. "Now about psi. Psi is...like an energy that we can manipulate. Everything can be done with psi." As a demonstration, he made a flurry of sparks dance around his hand, forming a psiball. "Everyone's psi looks differently. Mine are sparks. I knew a guy whose psi looked like swords. But everyone can use psi once they enter this world." He snapped his fingers and the ball of sparks flew to the fall, revealing the outline of the door, which burst open at Mathias's touch. "Here, if you believe something, it's real."

((I'm back and I did have a good time, thanks guys~ ^u^))

If you believe something, it's real? It sounds just like a fairy tale...

Alyssa had been following the conversation between Mara and Mathias quite easily up until this point, even managing a small smile in return as Mara introduced herself, but now she felt another wave of disbelief crest in her mind. She fought against it, though. At the moment, everything Mathias was saying was the only explanation she was being presented with for everything she'd seen and experienced so far, so it was all she could believe - no matter how implausible it sounded. She still had a few questions, though.

"So," she broke in, hoping that her interruption wasn't unwelcome. "It's as though we have two bodies, but one consciousness? When we're here is there... any difference in our real world actions?" She blushed, "I guess what I'm asking is, will my family know that something's different?" She paused, thinking for a second, then continued, "And how exactly do you use psi? I mean, believing that it'll work is all well and good but... I'm assuming that, just like normal, everyone has different capabilities and talents."

Eli continued to sit and listen intently to the mans words. He thought over all of the possibilities and concluded that he could only be telling the truth from what he had seen mere minutes before. Nothing here physically made sense, however he seemed to understand all of it and made sense of it.

He thought for a moment, sitting next to the girl he had helped away from the wolves. He looked around trying to find the other people who were with them.

{{Where is everyone else?}}

((I've been wanting to ask about that too, Lumi, I just don't think Alyssa's got all the why's and how's straightened out enough in her head yet... X3 She's scientifically brained and not used to being social, so worrying about other people isn't a habit.))

Alyssa sensed the boy beside her move, seeing a flicker in the corner of her eye. She watched his head turn as she turned to look at him and thought, {I know, they didn't get here with us.}

Startled, she shifted slightly and looked away, shaking her head just a little. Where had that come from? It wasn't like her to be able to understand other people without them telling her anything - in fact, she was probably one of the least understanding people she could think of. Maybe it had just been lack of opportunity before but... for it to happen now, with someone she barely knew - it was just strange.

She put it out of her mind, though, realising its unimportance compared to the bigger mysteries still waiting to be answered by Mathias, and maybe her own eyes, if she stayed here for long enough.

She turned her brown eyes back to Mathias and pulled her legs up so that she was sitting with her knees drawn to her chest, arms wrapped loosely around them as she picked idlely at one of the zips on her black cargo pants and waited for an answer, trying not to think too hard. It took quite a lot of effort.

"Don't worry. nothing will show. It's like...well the you there has no memory of this place because you haven't gone back. They wil act as though nothing has happened-which it hasn't, not to them. When you do go back, you will remember everything in both worlds, but also when you leave again you will seem different, but would act exactly as...you would act!" Mathias sighed. He hated tricking people, but this time, to unleash their powers, it was nessicary. "No, you're right...psi varies by the user. There are many different types, and no two people ever have the same powers. For example, there is Psi. When I use psi, it's sparks. It's different for each of you, and sometimes your psi can be used like another power-mine can be used like electrokinesis, or the ability to control lightning, but on a much smaller scale. Then there are your powers. Each of us has three powers. I have Telekinesis, or 'distance movement,' Telepathy, or 'distance mind,' and Chronokinesis, or 'time movement.' There are these little glass balls I carry with me that help people activate their powers." He held out an arm and a small band of clotgh around his wrist grew into several glass balls about an inch wide each, which he proceeded to toss to each person in the room. "Take the ball, and memorize each detail of it. Then, imagine a force flowing from your hands to the ball and back; a bright and powerful force. Don't try too hard, relaxation is the key."

Mathias watched them, wondering if they would fall for it. He hoped so, the placebo balls were the only plan he had. The people believed that the balls activated their power-and in a way, it would. Tha balls actually didn't aid in the activation normally, but because they would believe they did, then they actually would. The mind would, in effect, trick itself into using their powers!
