Harper jumped up, and threw his hands in celebration. "I LIVE!" He declared happily, pointing at the bear. "The magical bear brains are so rare, I can't believe we found some in time, Cap'n! Oh, look, the bear's still alive, and it's EATING IT'S OWN BRAINS!" He yelled, while picking up the dismantled fluff and trying to shove it back in.
The elephant's buzzing came to a sudden stop.

Manuela giggled as she helped to stuff the bits back in, then made an observation, "We need some magic bear tape to cover the hole, or else it's all going to fall out again. And who knows when we might need more magic bear brains." Well, recycled magic bear brains at the very least. When the elephant stopped buzzing she pointed her free hand to it, "He's surrendered!"

Harper wiggled over to the box from the elephant game and tore some of the tape off it to use on the bear, passing it to Manny. "Use that, Cap'n. I didn't know you were a surgeon, too! Your probably gonna get preemoteyd to general any day now!" He said with a giggle, before putting on a serious face.
"Elephants. Never. Surrender."
Falling to the ground, he 'army crawled' around and picked up the butterflies on the ground. "I think we should collect the bodies."
It was around then Soloman had made his way into the house, the faint sound of him yelling 'HEEEYO!' as the front door crashed open echoing into the boy's room.

Manny popped the piece of tape over the "wound" and even though it didn't completely cover it, it would do. Smiling, she kissed the bear's forehead and set it down where it had been. "Yeah, or else it'll attract.." She had to think for a minute, then she leapt on Harper making a roaring noise, "BIG HUNGRY SPACE LIONS!"

"IEEE! NOOOO!" Harper wailed, flailing again. He moved to push her away, trying to grab one of his pillows with his free hand and beat her! with it.
Right away it seemed, Soloman had opened the door up with one could only guess, as his hands were full. He had two milkshakes and a colored kids meal, and when he saw the other kids he only snorted, "Harper, victory dinner's here after the enemies' properly vanquished, dude." He said, passively setting the food stuffs on the floor by the door.
"THE TREASURE!"

"Raaar!" Manny growled, rolling off when she was hit with the pillow. She did a little backwards tumble, but ran out of floor and hit the wall. "Owwaar," she whined, rubbing the back of her head as she glanced at the door and the newly arrived food which prompted a loud, "Thank you Mister Soloman!" Figuring she had been beaten, or at least that the fight was on hold, she picked up her milkshake and took a sip big enough to give her a flash of brain freeze. Fortunately, the bump on her head overpowered it.

As most kids do, Harper went straight for the toy in the kid's mean bag, disregarding the entirely unhealthy food completely. He pulled it out - a little plastic duck, that was made to suck in and spit out water.
Oh, that would be fun, he thought. He grinned menacingly at Manny before making a quick innocent smile to cover it up, "Sure you aren't hungry?" He asked, munching on some fries.

Apparently she hadn't seen the odd look, because she didn't seem worried. "Yeah," she responded, sipping on her milkshake, "And Mama always tells me not to eat when I'm not hungry because it's wasteful and some people don't have any food at all." Well maybe that last bit was kind of a downer, but it was something she had to face.

"Why don't they have food? Too busy playing video games?" He asked, naivety something quite impressive. He knew a lot about people's 'dark sides' thanks to parties his parents threw - the dark sides of, quite often, over privileged kids who decide to spend their rich parents money on drugs and fun times, or people so down and lost they never make much of anything clear.
It was fine. They usually faded away or made him laugh; whats the harm to Harper?
He hid the duck behind him and grinned again, "Milkshake any good? You really don't like chocolate, huh?"

"Sometimes people can't afford food," she told him, frowning a bit, "One of the women in our church can't afford enough for her whole family so she eats almost nothing and gives her share to her kids." It wasn't that rare of a case in the community, but many of the people refused any sort of assistance because they were too proud. She pushed her straw around in her milkshake, "If you have it too often it's not special anymore."

Harper turned his head, "Why don't they take food from other people, then?" He asked, entirely serious. He gave a sigh and shook his head, "It's not fun to be hungry." He said with a nod, the considering the chocolate.
Too much of a good thing was definitely not a concept taught in his house.
"But if you get it a lot it just means your happy a lot?"

Manuela shrugged, "They don't want to. A lot of people think taking help is a sign that you can't take care of yourself." She'd been hungry before, when Estelle had rationed their food. The family ran on donations to the church, and when the donations were low, so were their choices. "I think it's like all other really good stuff," she told him, "It's best when you only get it once in a while, so you appreciate it more."

"That's stupid." Harper said with a snort, taking a bite out of his burger. He glanced at it momentarily, a very brief look of introspect on his face, before looking back at Manny. "Well, we always have lotsa' food, so if you get hungry you can come over." He said with a grin.
Of course, whatever sweetness inspired in the boy for that comment faded as he put his duck in his soda, filled it up, and tried to squirt Manny in the face!

Manny flushed red at the offer, casting her eyes down on the floor. She knew he was just trying to be sweet, but certain things went against her convictions. Her mother was one of the people that wanted to be able to always appear in control, and as such no matter how many of the parishioners offered, neither she nor Manuela were allowed to have dinner with them. Her momentary embarassment was pushed aside when he whipped out the duck, and when the first drop of soda hit her she screamed and covered her face, falling on her side to avoid the rest of the stream.

Harper cackled and went to refill his duck, "Shoulda got a kids meal, than you'd have one too!" Nevermind he had plenty of 'super soakers' laying around somewhere, which any decent fair playing opponent would bring up.
Of course, he didn't qualify.
"What's wrong?! Don't like soda?!" he giggled, trying to move her so he could squirt her face again.
