Manuela pouted, but had already decided on something else to do. "Well ok," she told Harper, smiling to Ms. Lindy, "She's in charge anyway." Unhindered she reached for a handful of crayons and laid them out on the table in front of them. "Betcha you can't make a stack of them," she whispered to Harper.

Finally he couldn't stand it anymore. Antony raised his hand, looking serious. "Miss Lindy? May I go to the restroom? I've finished my picture!"

"Sure, sure," said the teacher, dangling a little pass on the end of her finger as the other hand tapped at the laptop. Queen blasted forth at a demure volume. "Take a bathroom pass. You can do a new picture when you come back, we've got like twenty minutes left." (Oh, hooray.)

Harper stared bitterly at the teacher as she put his music on, making a mental note to keep his less flattering comments about teachers a little quieter next time. Or at least in some sort of code only he understood.
"Couldn't hold it, Antony?" Harper asked in passing, grinning at Antony briefly before sticking his tongue out at Manuela. "Bet I can!" He said back, grabbing his own stack he quickly set to work.
He stacked a few of them, though he was unsure how this 'stacking' was supposed to go, so he spied on her progress and attempted to mimic her.

Couldn't STAND it was more likely, Antony thought as he took the pass and headed out of the room. He planned on taking his time, thank you very much.

Abandoned by both of her friends, Delilah looked up with wide blue eyes and her bottom lip trembled for an instant in dismay. Then she sighed deeply and pulled the betraying lip back between her teeth. Cocking her head to one side, she listened to the music for a moment. Slowly, a smile grew and she shared it with Manuela across the way and Manuela's new friends. Then she bent back over her drawing and proceeded to grind a purple crayon into the background for added color.
