Couscous looked downwards upon hearing the mentioning of a winged. His past mate had been a winged mare as well, but it did not work out so well--most probably because he was a grounded stallion. He sighed, his disdain for winged soquili that think their own kind are better than others showing. "Good luck with that, then," was all he could muster up to say, his past almost swallowing him up in a void of misery again. "I've had trouble with winged ones myself in the past, but... eh, the past has passed..."

He shook his head and snapped out of his reminiscing, realizing that he was still in the company of others. He smiled as the stallion and hawk gave him their names. "Likewise," he replied assuredly. Then, looking to the skies above, he eyed Elan for a moment and pawed the ground curiously. "Is your companion always that... intrusive...? No, that's not the word. Is he always that friendly?" he asked, getting closer to Thelerian so that the hawk may not hear.

Helaku smiled slightly at the similarity between her name and her mother's. "Perhaps someday I'll do so...as for living with humans, my parents live with theirs though I don't have one of my own." He chuckled softly. "My family? There's my father Sora, mother Delphia...and my brother Dyre, though I haven't seen him much. I hear he's got a mate though...hope he's luckier with that than I was."

" Intru....err-friendly?" Thelerian asked as he too cast a brief glance towards the hawk's direction. "Why...yes, yes, he has been called that many times...his nature, you see. Was like that eversince we met,"

"I HEARD that!" screech Elan once again from above although it was more of noticing that the two below were suddenly whispering conspirationally rather than actually hearing them speak about him. However, being the hawk that he is, Elan usually assumed that he was or should be the center of attention. Regardless of whether it was a good one or not.

And with that, the hawk landed on a sturdy branch nearby and cocked his head in their direction. " Let me in on the secret will ya?"

"At least you know he cares for your affairs," Couscous remarked playfully before the hawk's screech rang throughout the trees, making even the sturdy stallion shift at unease in his grounded hooves a little. He turned his attention upwards to the bird until it had landed safely on an obviously close branch, and mustered the ability to give a warm smile, despite his intimidation from the loudness of the character.

"I was commending your friend Thelerian for finding as good of a companion as you, as you no doubt possess many advantages that simple soquili like us do not. That includes the gift of knowing what's happening with your companion at all times, for it is unwise to just settle with something without that knowledge, for what if he sought advice or counsel at one point, but had no one else to turn to?"

Turning back to Thelerian, Couscous gave a secretive wink and then asked, "A stallion like yourself and your hawk must belong to a herd somewhere, if am correct in assumption? You do seem like you've gotten out quite a bit."

Elan was actually quiet for once as he listened to Conscous' speech and puffed out his chest with pride. So he was superior was he? Good! At least someone around here appreciates me thought the hawk to himself unaware that if he swelled any more he might just topple off the branch that he was perched on.

Thelerian meanwhile gave the swelling hawk a withering look. Was Elan really that easy to please? At Conscous question however, Thelerian turned to face the other stallion. "Herd...you say? Well...perhaps or...perhaps not...," replied Thelerian carefully. "We live...in a group...and lookout for...each other...if that is what you mean...but no lead mare...no leaad stallion. Just...us,"

"Yep, no one's obliged to do anything over there," Elan then added; nodding in agreement. "But Thel here seems to be their unofficial herd leader,"

"That's...because I travel...I know the area...that's all," replied the painted stallion with a slight smile. "It comes...with age...you see...,"

The hawk's response was to say the least, unexpected, but Couscous reacted with a polite smile as his intentions weren't exactly to boost an ego, especially to that extent. As long as Elan was happy about it, the attention needed no further elaboration.

Meanwhile, he listened intensely as Thelerian spoke, and thought wistfully through; he had his own familiarity with the type of setting mentioned, but also led a herd. Couldn't one be in both functions, though? He sure knew the task of switching it up--wandering from different friends, to family, to other family... He realized, then, that relationships could fall to the point of breaking if not paid attention to on a more frequent basis. He sighed without thinking, not even noticing that anyone else would hear it. He had a rather peculiar blood-related family, and if counting the non-blood family, the peculiarities more than doubled, as members of it extended so far out, that it could sometimes have been called a burden and heavy duty to keep track of everyone. But that was the life for Couscous--going through many faces for the day, despite his base introverted temper.

"I can relate," Couscous let out finally, not quite snapping out of his previous contemplation, "I also however come with a herd that my daughters have maintained quite well. How many do you watch over, Thelerian?" It was an honest, curious question, accompanied by a humorous afterthought: "And I hope I am correct in thinking that the other 'members' as you may call, are not other hawks?"

He chuckled and looked to Elan, knowing that the hawk could have been lonely seeing his attachment to Thelerian and his apparent attention-starved attitude. Though they were solitary creatures, it wasn't that rare to see the feathered friends amongst others of their kind.

"I do admire that, though," Couscous said to Thelerian, "I mean, leading and teaching a group... I believe I need more experience and will to stick around that I hope to one day achieve, though the inevitable past seems to corrupt and hinder my learning. You seem well-balanced, however!"

Thelerian eyed the other silently for a moment as the other contemplated Probably about his herd thought Thelerian and smiled slightly at the mention of herding a flock of hawks. "No, I do not...take care of hawks...like you have mentioned... one is enough, one is all...that I'll ever need,"

Here the stallion paused and gave his tail a careless flick while he recollected his thoughts. " I am with...three others...currently. Two mares and...a brash wind stallion... However, must be nice... to have...capable daughters," Thelerian said in a tone of approval.

"And...Elan...he balances my...short comings," Thelerian replied in response to the remark about him being well-balanced. "But... the past...?"

Here Thelerian trailed off as he was at a loss of words. Tackling the past was tricky business and the painted stallion was well aware of it. After all, he had had his fair share of secrets that were swept under the carpet had he not? How the other managed his was up to him. And yet, Thelerian could not help but feel curious all the same and his curiousity was expressed with both ears up and alert to the other's response.

A dark brown unicorn grazed the forest. She was looking around for others that would perhaps have a conversation with her. Then again she wasn't one to just go up and start talking with others. Adrienne sighed disappointed while sitting down at the tepee. Here she had no friends at all and she had just moved to the area after hearing of how much a wonderful place it was. Her hair and beads swayed in the wind as she looked over the land she had just claimed to live at.

Perhaps she was the weirdo here and was not welcome. Adrienne flicked her ears back sadly before shutting her eyes to take a nap. She could find some berries and fruit later on for supper.

The fox coloured mare trotted herway between the trees. She loved to gallop through the forest in the night, weaving in and out f the trees but today she was just gently trotting through the forest, leaves crackling under her weight. The sun rays were fighting their way through the canopy of leaves, the morning air, it was beautiful.

The Soquili made her way through the trees to the patch in the middle, the clearing, there she lowered her head and started to munch on the fresh grass, it was moist from the morning dew and the taste, that was amazing. She was happy here, very happy.
