J of The Wind Cabron the Swan J of The Wind I love seeing new entries in the Arts and Crafts Section~ It inspires me to not give up on my crap drawings. 3nodding Why would anyone give up? You can only get better. surprised It's not humanly possible for practice to make you WORSE at something. I know... but it seems that despite practice, I'm never at a good en ough level for myself. I mean, The last thing I drew I could have done so much better... I just need a better feel for shading, body sctucture, and other stuff... I just dont have that natural perception like you or Orph or T or ED... But I'm not giving up goddamnit! Hahaha. I don't think I have it either. It's not something that comes overnight, though; you shouldn't be discouraged just because someone has more practice than you. The only thing I personally compare my s**t to is my s**t last week. If you can see progress, that's what you should be proud of. No matter what level you're at, there's room to improve. The quality can always be better; the important thing is that you strive to make it so.
That said I've been using Google Images for real-life people as anatomical references recently, and it's helping a lot with the things I want to correct, like hands and feet and lighting. Might come in handy, if you don't mind people asking you why you're looking at the same naked woman for an hour. xd

They may not want the answer~ wink XD But youre right, I should compare myself to myself to improve!

Whenever I hear someone say your skills can always improve, I think of that one piece in conte crayon of a cat sleeping on a chair. It looks like a black and white picture. How do you improve from that?

Lots of people are saying that.
I don't wanna commit to an art shop or anything, especially not this month with Christmas coming up, but if you guys wanna put in casual requests or anything, I could always look them up when I'm thinking about drawing something but don't know what. All I'd ask is that I not be nagged about it. I'm backlogged on a s**t ton as it is (sorry Kaos, I keep trying but you always look too girly and I get angry and throw out the sketch crying )
I wouldn't charge, and I might even color. I need the practice. And the motivation to use my scanner. xd

How do you improve from that? That's when you stop drawing from life and start drawing from your head. The artist's nirvana. wink

Sure, some people might be able to pick up on it faster, but it just takes a lot of practice, a lot of patience, and a lot of drawing. Just draw one thing from observation every day. You'll improve in no time. The observation could even be a part of something. Like a wing or a hand or a foot or an arm or a leg or a nose or a finger. (<- I like that sentence)

I have a final in a couple hours and I am super nervous. And we were supposed to do some online post-course test for ten points on the final but it won't let me log on. I hope she won't penalize me for not doing it, I tried.
