Yeah the concept is FMA not the show put the physics formula. Reducing the mass of an object in half means only half the force in a blow.

I've taken no higher schooling in the matter, just using logic, so feel free to disregard this.
But wouldn't reducing an object's mass by half quarter the force? Since mass is density times volume, halving the mass would leave the volume the same, but alter the density. Take into account momentum, and it seems to me that only halving wouldn't properly correlate with the previous data.
As in, let's say you hurl a six inch cube that weighs four pounds, at fifty miles an hour. To halve the mass, it would now weigh two pounds, but still be the same size and travel at the same speed. Since it has a lower weight, it would take less force to move it at the same speed as the four pound cube, therefore it would only achieve 25% of the kinetic force as the four pound cube.
At least that's what I think. And I can be wrong, that was just an off-the-cuff response.
