This was also true. He knew real magic and he knew fake magic, and they were equally as mind-blowing in the proper context.
"I've never been to a live one. We should find one some time."

"Yeah, we should," Cody said, giving Dari a smile. "I'll take you to your first magic show." He reached to stroke Dari's cheek. "It's only fair. You're the magic in my life."

Dari rolled his eyes and chuckled, but came right back and kissed Cody on the cheek very near his lips. Ah, silly Cody, you had no idea. Dari luckily found the man's unending corny romanticisms sort of charming. There was an innocence in Cody that had been lost so long. Cody was his everything.
"You are my life," Dari said, and settled in around Cody in preparation of actually sleeping.

Cody's expression softened, and he studied Dari with loving eyes. "I love you, baby," he said. He was so grateful to Dari; even though he'd protested, even though he'd suggested Dari go home; he'd helped him all day. He cuddled against him, breath evening out as his eyes closed.

"I love you too," Dari said, stroking Cody's hair as he curled up with him and holding him close. He waited until the man was well and truly asleep before whispering: "and I'm sorry."

It wasn't unusual for entities to come into HQ, but Luca got a pretty decent tour before they made it to the pools. Lori unlocked the door with his ID and locked it behind them.
"So there's a security camera up there, just so you know," he said, pointing up at the corner. Said camera was minuscule. He pulled out a screen for them to change behind and began taking off his clothes. He hadn't worn his swim suit under his... normal suit. He'd simply taken it in a bag to work, and thus was entirely naked in not much time. Hence the screen.

So someone would be watching, after all. Luca looked up at the tiny security camera. He joined Lori behind the screen and started to change. "I'm a little nervous," He admitted, glancing at the water. Another reason he'd agreed to the pool rather than the lake. At least with the pool, it had measurements. "But I do appreciate this."

"There's no reason to be," Lori said with a thoughtful frown. "We can do it all at standing level if you want. I mean you're not exactly a small guy." He pulled on his shorts and smiled.
"Okay. Well I don't mind!" He loved Luca. Teaching him to swim was nothing.

That was true. He wasn't short by any means, so probably in no danger of drowning. Once dressed, he moved to kiss Lori on the cheek.

Lori smirked and pushed the screen closed, then waded into the water. It was always a bit warm so it wouldn't take much time to acclimate. He only went about waist-deep before waiting for Luca's hand and walking deeper.
"The doggy paddle's probably the easiest and most instinctual. It's not especially pretty, though."

Luca took Lori's hand and followed him into the water, but there was definitely a hesitance there. Doggy paddle? He didn't care about pretty, as long as it worked. "So how do I do it?"

It would probably help to demonstrate, not just to show Luca the way to do it, but to make him feel less ridiculous when they ended up trying it.
"Stay here." He flopped over and doggy-paddled out a good ways, and then back to Luca and let his legs drop. "I think usually they teach you by having you hold onto the side of the pool, but you're a big boy, so I figure we should just try it out here. I'll support you. Me and my enormous ego."

He watched Lori doggypaddle a ways. It looked simple enough. Luca appreciated that the fact that he was an adult was being taken into account.
"Okay, I'll try," he agreed.

Lori put his left hand to Luca's belly and spread out his fingers to cover as much space as possible. Luca wasn't very heavy on a normal day, and in the water he'd only be lighter.
"Go ahead and lean forward. Fill your lungs to float easier, and then go on and try. We'll stay where I can stand for now, just in case. I won't let you fall in."

Luca leaned forward, taking a deep breath. He started paddling his arms. This was a bit embarrassing, really. He hated not knowing how to do something. "Like this?"
