[Anthony ~.~ Disney ~.~ Hall of the Cornerstone]

Anthony tried desperately to pay attention to Yen Sid as he spoke and explained the present situation, but the harder he tried, the more he zoned out (much like he would while in class). He was, however, able to understand the gist of it. "Someone should really make a game about this," the young man said to no one in particular before breaking the fourth wall and staring off into the imaginary audience. The thoughts and questions everyone had immediately after the sorcerer's explanation definitely helped the brawler wrap his mind around the whole thing.

"With all this magic you'd think they'd be able to create some sorta PowerPoint presentation with some visuals to help us out a bit," he thought to himself. "The xBlade was a nice touch though."

[Lucian ~.~ Forbidden Mountain ~.~ Maleficent's Castle]

Everything happened so fast, though Lucian was expecting it. Nothing like intense quaking to give away your intentions. Though he allowed himself to be kicked back against the wall, the Replica dodged the swing by ducking underneath the archer's arm and side stepped away. The sudden attack sparked the rage the Dark Knight so often turned to when in a fight; however, just as quickly as it came on, it began to fade--no, drain away.

Three small Flood appeared from the darkness and quickly surround the young lady. They were on the defensive, but made no attempt at attacking.

Lucian's eyes widened at the very sight of the creatures. Not out of fear, but out of clarity. He sensed the connection between himself and the beings.

He spawned them. He spawned the--
"Unversed...," was the world that came to his mind.

With the blind rage gone, the young man felt liberated. In that instance, things became clear to him. He no longer felt the need to rely on his rage to get him through his fights. Instead he could rely on caution and strategy.

"Interesting," the Replica thought as one end of his lips curled into a grin.

[ Noelle ~ Red Rose ~ Hall of the Cornerstone ]

Noelle glared at the Cornerstone as things were being explained. 'Oh, I get what you're playing at . . .' They were all on board, so it was showing them what they were up against--well a "good luck" to you, too. All the information Yen Sid was covering was a bit overwhelming. She silently wished she had a handy sketchbook like Kyla, or at least a notebook to write things down on and organize her thoughts--perhaps she would get a new journal while around Disney. In any case it would help her remember names. She was the worst with names. Ventus, Vanitas, Master Aqua . . . the only one she was going to remember was the latter and she knew it, primarily because finding that person was now the objective. And with the knowledge that there were currently only seven Fiends of Heart they had at least a small silver lining to their dark cloud.

The agromancer decided to stay silent, as she really had nothing intelligent to add. It seemed like they had a clear mission despite all the information clouding her thoughts. Get seven keybladers before thirteen Fiends showed up. Easy . . . one would hope. Noelle glanced to Anthony as he mused and snorted.

"Dork." She said to him quietly.

[ Daniel ~ Shinra Headquarters ~ Shinra's Office ]

"Still, in our confrontation with the darkness, we're in agreement. Regardless of what they think of ShinRa and our business policies, it does not change anything."

Daniel averted his gaze for a moment, looking back on his time with the other survivors. The Demon's original, Kyle, only focused on the actions of Shinra during the seventh Final Fantasy game. Had he forgotten Advent Children? Daniel had told Shinra Corp everything he could, all the way down to the company's destruction due to it's own zealous pursuits. Shinra was briefed on Darkness, on the stories of Kingdom Hearts. They know what they are up against, and if there was any organization that could infiltrate Darkness' assets, it was Shinra's Turks. The Spellblade shook his head in callous disappointment.

Was it so wrong to fight for survival?

As if on queue, Rufus populated his display with images of the dead. Daniel noticeably twitched.

"ShinRa desperately needs manpower. Despite our efforts to move quickly and gather tools to aid in protecting ourselves, our agents out in the field are dropping like flies."

The Turk's expression darkened as Shinra continued. He had never heard the president talk about the lives of his men; The concept of large numbers of agents dying was not information Daniel had been privy to before. Rufus' plea for the cooperation of the Earthling's was the most palpable sign of that desperation

And here you are playing with motorcycle parts..

Daniel leaned away, taken aback as he sat staring for a while at the broken bodies on the screen. He didn't have long; Shinra snapped and turned off the projector.

You are right, pet projects need to wait.

"On to other business. The papers in front of you detail out information regarding high amounts of energy readings as well as a recent spike in certain regions. I'd like you to look them over and become acquainted with the information we have gathered so far.--"

Daniel scanned over the covers as Rufus described each one; Research on crystals, A castle and missing agents, And finally a massive spike in energy.

He couldn't give me a choice between something cool and, like, getting coffee? This is going to be tough.

Shinra continued, and Daniel reach for the one that drew him in on face value; The research on the crystal deposits. The advantages they seemed to provide in this world could not be underestimated. The Turk opened the file, skimming the pictures and data recorded therein. He grinned when he realized the research was being conducted in forests associated with the Miyazaki films.

This is going to be a fun trip, despite the unrest amongst the forest denizens. I've been wanting to get my hands on whatever Ajora seems to be wielding. Though these -- [/b]he placed his fingers on a photo of a light bluish gem -- Do not look the same..

One can hope-- Maybe he will send you there if try not to look any more excited.

Daniel took the hint, closing the file and placing it next to the rest waiting for Rufus to pick his assignment.

"I realize you've only just returned, but I'm assigning you, Tseng, as well as more Turks if need be to one of these cases. And... I'm giving you the option to chose to which location you'll be investigating. You needn't answer right away, take your time to look over the information. I will be eagerly awaiting your choice."

The Spellblade stared on in disbelief, tilting his head like a curious puppy. Why was he given a choice? A mission was a mission; they were all necessary. Were they that low on man-power? Were his brethren in arms ok? He looked back down at the files, staring straight at the dossier he had ignored. The castle and, more importantly, his missing agents.

...For a bit there... I thought it was rather nice of him to let me know what the other Turks are doing..

Daniel picked up the brief and opened it, scanning for names. All instances of agents were simply just that; "agents".

Agents departed
Agents report one, two, three, and...
Agents failure to report. Daniel peeked above the file and at the clock over Rufus' head . The scheduled time for contact was several hours overdue. He met eyes once again with the President-

"Who were the agents?"

[ Kyle ; Canons : Disney : Hall of the Cornerstone ]

Yen Sid nodded to Joe as he spoke--the young man had summarized two important points, while others seemed to do the same. Bobbi's outburst, while noted, was not acknowledged; she wished to be ignored, and so he ignored her injection. When Kyla asked her own questions, he ran a hand down his beard once again.

"That is all we know thus far. Terra's body remains in possession of Xehanort. Whether he has fully regained his memories is unknown, but it may no longer matter," he explained. "Ventus' heart remains sleeping within Sora's. We have the means to awaken it, but not his body, which remains safely locked away at the core of what used to be the Keyblade Guardians' headquarters... you may know the twisted remains as Castle Oblivion."

"So the Organization set up base there to find him?" Kyle asked, thinking back to what he knew about the castle. They'd had fairly limited information. There was some memory play, but most of that was attributed to Naminé; mostly, the castle just seemed to be... a convoluted maze.

"I believe so. However, Master Aqua sealed the world with Master Eraqus' keyblade, which enacted the castle's precautionary enchantments," Yen Sid began, preparing to elaborate. "The castle became a labyrinth that only she can navigate, and at its core is Ventus."

"Find Master Aqua, find Ventus. Got it," Kyle said, nodding. He pondered about the seventh slot, but only momentarily.

Yen Sid nodded. "We had located her before the convergence, but actually reaching her in the Realm of Darkness was an issue. Now, things have reversed. People can enter and leave the realm whenever they please because its worlds have been merged with all others, but the convergence has thrown off the scent, as it were."

"It's one of the reasons I'd gone out," Mickey spoke up, a bit hesitant to do so; his adventure had ended in his abduction, after all. "Still looking for a trail."

"And when we find one, the tides shall turn," Yen Sid said, lowering his arm from his beard and bringing his arms together, each entering the other's sleeve in a focused stance. "Now, we have covered everything important, since you all seem determined to aid in our efforts. I have nothing more for you, so if you wish--"

He moved one arm off to the side, opening a gateway that led to the town center, where they had come from (though the platforms had been removed already), with the lively festival still going; it was only around noon, after all.

"--then you may return to the festival, or you may ascend the stairs behind you, which lead to the castle's throne room," he explained, nodding toward the staircase behind them. If they chose to climb up the stairs, they would walk through an opening in the floor, with the throne platform to their side; originally, it covered the entrance to the Cornerstone, but it remained open more often than not nowadays. "From there, you can reach anywhere in the castle, including the dining halls, living quarters, the library--simply ask someone and they'll direct you where you want to go."

"Otherwise, if you wish to remain and speak about something more personal, then Merlin and I are here to listen," he spoke.

Kyle hesitated, looking around from the corners of his eyes. He needed to speak to them--about a couple things, honestly--but he would wait in line, if necessary.

A number of Earthlings went their separate ways; most went into the portal for the festival, inviting whoever to tag along, but Maggie looked to Kyla with a grin first. "So, whatcha wanna do?"

After a moment of discussion, Sora, Mickey, and Kairi decided to head to the festival, as well. Riku decided to lag behind, seeing if certain subjects came up or not. Regardless, he needed to speak to Yen Sid about one thing or another.

{Bobbi .:. Disney Castle .:. Chamber of the Cornerstone >> Festival}

Bobbi heaved a silent sigh of relief when no one asked her to elaborate, and went back to listening. She was intensely curious about this Master Aqua person, as well as Terra and Ventus. So much new information unraveling stories about her favorite game, and she had the opportunity to not only experience it all first hand, but make a difference in it as well. She'd never been part of a story until this whole mess had started; she liked it, when she managed to forget that it was all real and her parents were...

Nope, not thinking about it, moving on. Ohay, party, right. That'll help.

~:You'll have to think about it eventually, child,:~ Shiva chided gently.

I know. Just not right now. Please? I'll start crying if I do, and I dunno if I'll be able to stop.

Bobbi drew a shaky breath, trying to stem the flow of tears that had threatened just because her thoughts were straying to dangerous ground. Thankfully, she'd learned how to distract herself enough to turn the water-works off a long time ago, and she followed the others out to the parade grounds with mostly dry eyes. She should have probably stayed behind to ask about Louis, but right now she needed good cheer and laughter. She was bound and determined to soak up the party-vibes like an empathy sponge.

"Heeeey, you kids done in there?" hailed a familiar voice, and Bobbi looked up to see Zell with a hotdog in each hand, waving at them. "'Bout time they let you kids have some fun instead of all that stuffy saving-the-world business. Good to see you again, your majesty!"

"What they do for all of us is a necessity, Zell," Nanaki scolded mildly as the conductor took a huge bite of his left-hand frank. "'Stuffy' or not, it must still be done."

"Yeah, yeah."

Bobbi laughed and joined them, the sudden grumbling in her tummy telling her it was time and more than time for food. She wasn't even that big a fan of hot dogs, and even from here they smelled delicious. She bought herself a dog from the vendor and loaded it up with ketchup, relish, and diced onions, then looked around for the others. She saw Demyx a ways off talking to Axel, and thought she saw Lexaeus, but the crowd was so thick she couldn't see much of anyone else. Once again, she cursed her severe lack of height.

{Janex .:. Forbidden Mountain .:. Maleficent's Castle .:. Hallways}

Janex's eyes widened in surprise as her nuisance summoned creatures she'd never seen before. She didn't back down, but she eyed the creatures curiously. What was this idiot, that he could summon creatures that were neither Heartless nor Nobodies?

~:We should take him apart and find out~:~ Shiva whispered gleefully.

Silence, Janex snapped, having no desire to hear anything from her summon. She continued eying the creatures, backing off a step and dissipating the knife. She made note of the creatures' appearances, then dismissed them. They hadn't attacked, and she knew where they were. They wouldn't catch her by surprise. Instead, she turned her regard back to Lucian, studying him, trying to see if that stupid grin on his face could give her clues. He seemed just as surprised by the sudden appearance as she was, but the grin indicated he could control them. Or had at least called them. No, that grin certainly did not bode well for her at all.

After a moment of tense silence, Janex stepped back through a dark portal to another section of hallway a few floors up. It was a retreat, sure, and he'd likely think her weak and foolish, but she didn't care. She had a lot to think about, and needed quiet to do so. That loud-mouthed moron was certainly not going to provide her that quiet, so she sought it elsewhere in her sanctuary.

[[??? :: Disney Castle :: Inside Bobbi]]

"Party," the male's voice cheered along with Bobbi's, "Will there be dancing? I can dance! I know how. It'll be fun. Do you know how? If not, want me to teach you? We can start with merengue, it's fun and super easy!" With a bout of excited laughter, in the girl's head she could almost see him already doing a little jig and as she turned to leave, like a fading mirage, she might have even caught a glimpse of a boy dancing past Zell before fading like smoke into nothing.

[[Rufus :: ShinRa Headquarters :: Head Office]]

Whether or not Rufus was pleased or displeased by the question, one couldn't tell by the CEO's face. His reply was direct, to the point, and in a matter-of-fact tone, "Dominic and Rebecca, good agents. I believe you've been well acquainted with both of them during your training... Dominic in particular, I'm sure. He makes a habit of making friends with everyone that joins the Turks."

[Joe: Disney: Hall of the Cornerstone -> Library]

The male let out a small, quiet sigh. He was pretty sure he got most of what was said, but a small part though he felt a few things go over his head. Either way, it seemed like they were done. And Joe...had a few things to look into.

The monk quietly left the room with his thoughts trailing him, getting directions from a few people to direct him to a library. There were a few others in there, but it was quiet, spaced out. Plus it had books on what he hoped could be useful to him. He scanned the shelves, finally picking out a book and flipping around the pages. He figured it'd do nicely, retreated to a corner of the library, and started to read.

[Kyla: Disney: Hall of the Cornerstone]

There ere so many things she wanted to do and say. This whole ordeal from start to finish had conjured nothing but conflict since she arrived. Had the cornerstone not been the calm in the storm Kyla would surely had lost it.

Now with the important stuff settled for now it was free period time and Kyla didn’t know what she wanted to do. The moment one idea pooped up and more pressing desire popped up in it’s place, only to have it refuted by yet another thing.

To be alone. To be with someone. To think. To be distracted. Was it possible to have all of the above?

Catching a side-glance from the corner of her eye, it didn’t take a genius to understand Kyle’s pressing matters. Ty[ical though he would withhold them until everyone else had finished- but Kyla had enough of laying her problems bare for others. Her current experiences left her feeling regretful, and ashamed for even trying.
He needed to speak with them more urgently, so she could wait- besides, the artist had yet to decide her own coarse of action. What she needed now- was… someone’s advice.

Yen Sid would have been a good choice but right now he was the last person she wanted to bother right now, she would risk the piercing gaze of the wise wizard another day. Merlin? …mmm too flighty to be of emotional support. This was something she needed to confide someone with equal parts wisdom, common sense and more important, emotional experience and balance. While Maggie was a good friend- yes, a very good friend, Kyla fear if she confided too much the girl would hinder what decision she made if it turned out to be one that was off the beaten path.

She had no doubt Maggie would act as any frind should- and whose ot say the person she did talk to didn’t do the same- perhaps if it was someone tethered to their own role they couldn’t act?

Man this train of thought was starting to sound conniving-

~ Indeed.~

‘ Oh you-… what would you suggest?’

~ Maybe someone else other then the people currently in this room? Maybe someone like Aslan? Or perhaps one of the fairies? Whose opinion do you really respect?~

‘ Kyle's, Joe's,Bobbi's,but they're... they either don't need this right now or can't help. Poor Jenny, this would be too loud. I respect Riku’s oppinion but..’

Looking at the keyblader he seemed to be lagging as well. Did he have something to discuss as well with the wizards and Mickey? Most likely. Still- thing wer ebound to get really hectic better at least let the guy know she would have to talk to him eventually and not out of the blue if possible. Riku would have the knowledge she needed when it came to mastering her own darkness. Plus he would also know.. maybe..

Just how far gone she really was. At this point she was so confused she needed a fresh pair of eyes. But that would mean letting him in on even more unsightly things about herself.
‘Pfff- why bother? He’s pretty much seen and heard enough right? I should just give it up already. It was unfair of me to expect anything even friendship. He’s a person, with his own thoughts and feelings and is susceptible and judgmental as any other human being. Going after Sora like that was the nail in the coffin. He probably hates me and I would deserve no less…especially after it’s all out.’

Looking around at everyone-

‘… I deserve no less from everyone here. This facade can’t go on for much longer. I need Riku to reveal just how much time I have left.’

Turning back to Maggie Kyla smiled sweetly, “ Actually I just need to get some things from the library but I’ll meet you back in the festival streets ok? Maybe where the food is- I’m hungry.”

Promising to catch up with her as soon as possible Kyla gave her a hug, one a bit longer then you’re typical quick shoulder shrug- it was evident she missed her and intended to catch up as soon as possible.

Then excusing herself she took a deep breath and walked over to Riku.

Standing a foot or so in front of the silver haired youth she adjusted her glasses before speaking. Nervous habit.
“Umm, I need to talk to you, but not here- so...” she spoke lower, not wanting the others to overhear, and fidgeted much to her own dislike.”-I know you probably have a lot to work out with the others so I wont bother you right now, but since everything can go south very quickly I figured it was best to at least let you know before hand. I know it’s not easy, and there are lots of others who need you help, so when the moment arises, before we end up departing to wherever- There’s something I have to ask of you-“

Without realizing she stared at her feet now.

“…I…apologize." she mumbled "To Sora as well. I’ll let him know too. I really am- ”

Suddenly snapping back up to mee this expression Kyla looked like she wanted to run off as soon as physically possible- “I sh-shoud get going to the library there’s something I need to find there- so..ok? Y-you can say no or not for a while, I'll figure something out if its too in convenient ok, so no pressure. ”
whether it was because she was actually busy or just too embarrassed now was unclear.

[ Kyle ; Canons : Disney : Hall of the Cornerstone ]

As some of them dispersed, Kyle realized that Yen Sid was likely to be the main target of most conversations. So, he decided to address a different concern first--one that Merlin would have more expertise in.

"Ah, yes my'boy?" Merlin asked, giving an supportive smile. "What can I help you with?"

"Well, I know the charms weren't originally your handiwork," Kyle began, still playing with the charm between his fingers before he held it out to the wizard. "But you're likely the most familiar with them, and mine's been... tampered with."

The wizard's brows furrowed as he quickly took the charms, looking at them in the light. "What-what? How so?"

"There's one new charm in particular," he started, leaning forward to pick it out of the rest--the spiral dragon. "It was given to me by... my replica. Before I realized what it was, it had already attached itself. I've had it off of me since it happened, about two hours ago. I wasn't sure--"

"If it'd been jinxed or something or the sort," Merlin said gravely, nodding in understanding as he analyzed at it, held it between his fingers, slid his thumb over its surface. "Well, I can tell you now that it's certainly made uniquely. It has no trace lines, no sign of who or what it might be connected to--but I can't see that it's interfering with the others, either. Mind if I take it for awhile to be sure?"

"That's actually what I was hoping," Kyle said with a sigh of relief. "I just want to be sure I can keep in contact with the group without my charm backfiring one way or another, so please, if you could--"

"Of course, lad, of course," Merlin said, once more smiling at the young man and patting his shoulder. "You'll be seeing Yen Sid about your arm, I presume?"

Kyle paled before blushing, lowering his gaze as he scratched his head. "Uh, yeah, that's the plan. You heard that, huh."

"All of it. But I know you lot will do what you can to take care of each other," Merlin said with a twinkle in his eyes. "Sora's taken a liking to you. He's not overly witty, but he's got a good sense about these things."

Meanwhile, Riku watched the others, wondering if he should go first or not. It was about that time that Kyla walked up, nervous as ever--it was always strange, having adults be nervous around him. Still, he listened, and for a brief moment, looked...

... utterly confused.

Then, when realization hit, he gave a small, reassuring smile. "Kyla, look, there's nothing to apologize for. There was tension, but it was resolved. You were just trying to get us to feel what you felt--and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that compassion. You've seen a side of Louis we haven't, is all."

"When I spoke, I was... being objective," he said, looking off for a bit and shaking his head. "I just needed to make sure you understood. I think I've heard someone mention in the past--the road to darkness is paved with good intentions. And you've already explained you understood, so it's clear to me--and the rest of us--that you have the compassion for mercy, but the morality to act. That's the balance that's necessary to do what's right."

"I accept your apology, even if it's not needed. I won't bother passing it on to Sora, though," he said, turning to give her a small grin as he rolled his eyes. "That kid? He's already forgiven and forgotten. He's... good like that."

"If you want to talk now, though, we can step over there," he said, nodding toward the far side of the hall; the Cornerstone's room was fairly large, and with as many people as there were, they could easily have a private conversation in the corner. "But if you'd rather wait, that's fine. I can talk to Master Yen Sid any time."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 29, 2013 1:45 pm

[Kyla: Disney: Hall of the Cornerstone]

you have the compassion for mercy, but the morality to act.

‘ I hope so-’ That nearly slipped out verbally but she refused to interrupt Riku as he responded.

She was a bit on the spot when he offered to just go ahead and talk off to the side.

~-do it!~

‘ I don’t think-‘

~ For pete sake Kyla if you really want to change, if you really want to fix things you need to start confiding in your allies a bit more. Sure it’s embarrassing, but Noelle is right. Riku may have the answer you need- I’m not telling you to spill your guts, I’m just saying you should ask him for some help- I’m sure you can trust him. Do it for your friends ok? You're worried this could all backfire fi you take too long- do it to protect them then!~

‘It’s weird.’

~Why?~

‘Back home, I was kid when I first saw him. I was a teenager when I played the game. And now… aren’t I supposed to be more together then him?’

She could almost feel the mental shrug the summon gave her.

Carbuncle had a point though- if Kyla got this out of the way she’d have more time to begin her research for material. Then she could see Maggie later-

There would be no way to know how much time she really had, and anything could happen between now and the next move they made. That goes double for the enemy.

This consideration was evident on her face, for all the ways Kyla could hide her emotions visually, anyone could tell when the girl was crunching thoughts like a computer crunched numbers. She seemed to reach her conclusion when her shoulders relaxed a little and she took a deep breath.

“Alright. I suppose it would be better this way-“she said looking back at the others a moment before nodding to him again. “It could get complicated so I’ll do my best to abbreviate for the time being.”

~ Good girl.~
So with his prompting Kyla would follow the taller youth to a place in the room they could converse in privacy.
] Again- she'd have to allot the cornerstone's influence for this unusual mood of calm she had under a normally stressful situation for someone like her.

[ Riku : Disney : Hall of the Cornerstone ]

Riku followed her into the corner of the hall, leaning against the fall facing the rest of the group for multiple reasons. First, he wanted to keep an eye on who wanted to talk to the wizards; he knew some that needed to (and he wanted to be sure they did), but he was curious if others did, as well.

Second, though, he faced the group so Kyla didn't have to. That way, as she spoke to him, her face, her words, everything she conveyed to him would remain private, visible and audible only to him.

"So, what's up?" he asked, curious. He thought maybe it was about what happened when she'd been alone with Ajora--something had happened that changed things, but he didn't know. Of course, if it was something else, he still wanted to help.

[Kyla: Disney: Hall of the Cornerstone]

There was a pause, like the girl was about to second guess her decision and perhaps choose not to, but finally she seemed undeterred and started talking.

“Alright, there’s no good way to say it but I’ll do my best.”

First- she took a hand, reached over her own shoulder and simply pointed to something unseen under her hair, on her back beneath the flap of her hood.
“I'd rather not show you-just know it’s pretty ugly looking. The last time I saw it- it’s was pretty big too.”
Retrieving the hand, she tapped one side of her glasses to indicate her eyes-
"These have been looking.. kinda scary as of late."

She allowed a moment for that to sink in before she explained herself.

“I’ve … not told anyone about it because this will sound crazy but- I may need it- well, now that is. Before I didn't but that was because I had a different way to link to the darkness." She opened her book and began flipping through pages for something next-
" Since we arrived in this world, it’s not hurt as much anymore- but it’s been there since Ajora and I fought and took something from me.”

“Before I go any further into that- take a look at this-” she opened her book to the more recent sketch she compiled after Joe send her the mental image back in the hangar.

“This thing." she said, tapping the picture of the "nameless" creature with menacing eyes and bladed arms.

"Joe told me they all encountered it on the pearl. I've seen this thing before.”

[ Riku : Disney : Hall of the Cornerstone ]

He listened intently, taking it in. The dark spot on her back; he'd been there when that strange form, looking so like Ansem's Guardian, burst forth to protect her--only for the Darkness possessing Ajora to terrorizing her all the same. If Riku had to guess, it'd been Louis--judging from everything that's happened, anyway. Then the comment about her eyes...

The Darkness loves to tamper with these Earthlings...

Before she went further, she segued into a different topic--a picture of some dark, humanoid creature. It had the elements of a Heartless, but it lacked an Emblem, and it was too ornate to be Pureblood...

... it seemed so human.

"If that's what gave them so much trouble, then any information would be helpful," he said, keeping his eyes on the picture. Of course, his mind immediately wondered why or how she'd seen it before--but she was bringing it up to him, privately. It was personal, whatever it was... so he didn't push. He kept his eyes on the picture because he knew his gaze had a habit of implying pressure.

[Kyla: Disney: Hall of the Cornerstone]

How could she withhold information after being asked like that? Suddenly she realized just how selfish she really HAD been having not told them right off the bat- but how could she have known Kai would use it- oh- don'’t stop, just keep talking!

“This.. this thing isn’t a heartless as you can tell but something else.”
“The reason I’m asking is because this thing- is the reason I need this … link. This link to the darkness.”

Kyla looked down into the picture, like it held all the answers.

“It’s Kai, she’s been using this thing to cause absolute horror wherever she can sick it on.”

“Everyone will be dealing with their own replica in their own way- it’s inevitable. If my replica knows- what I know up to the point before she was born, she knows the darkness is my weakness. The fact she’s even using this creature to hurt lots of people tells me volumes about her intentions. Right now I have no doubt she’s using it to tear up the landscape right under our noses. Sure we maybe safe right here-“

She looked up to the exit to the street. Her expression was outreaching, searching like she could somehow see it standing there in the doorway just beyond the steps.

“- but right now it’s out there. Right now- and she’s using her to do terrible things. Horrible unspeakable things- things Kai knows I’ve thought about.”Kyla shook her head, pressing a hand to her temple like just thinking about it gave her a headache.

“I’m not quite sure how she can yet- but I have an idea. And if things are proceeding as I suspect, this creature is only going to get bigger and stronger thanks to her influence. I need to master my own darkness, because this is the way in which Kai will try to undo me and everyone else- and it is the only way I’ll be able to find it and draw it out. Literally.”

Turning the book right side up to face her she touched the lines with a tenderness one would use as if touching the real thing.

“I guess what I’m saying is… as beautiful as my powers can be Riku, just imagine for a moment-the exact opposite of that sort of power. Imagine if it wasn’t limited to how much mana your body could hold? Imagine if there no limits on how where your mind went with its creative thinking- no borderlines semantics. You could visualize anything, from the more whimsical and ethereal beauties,.. to the most hellish of eldritch nightmares.. I won’t boast to say I think I’m stronger then you all or something stupid like that- but…”

“- I could be a very dangerous foe if somehow turned. And right now there’s one of me whose got that in mind- and is no doubt finding a way to release the limitation she shares with me. That being how much she could effect or create at one time. I don’t know how this thing is involved- but I do know it’s tells me something very important-“

“Her power is strong enough to influence other peoples’ magic, enough to possibly take control all together.”

Kyla let the words drop into the empty space for a moment- and holding her breath- she let him put the pieces together himself.

[ Riku : Disney : Hall of the Cornerstone ]

He didn't speak or even move while she spoke, absorbing what was given. A lot of it was about what her replica was attempting to do, both manipulating the creature and otherwise--the "otherwise", he thought, would be best discussed with Yen Sid. Riku knew other ways to cast magic, other sources of energy, but his master could more aptly explain them.

Still, the thread through it all wasn't her replica, so much as it was the creature. And there were things she wasn't outright saying--whether out of shame or the desire to test him, he couldn't say, and didn't particularly care. But by the end... it was pretty easy to piece together.

"I need this... link. This link to the darkness."

"If my replica knows--what I know--"

"If things are proceeding as I suspect--"

"Her power is strong enough to influence other peoples' magic--"

He paused, his eyes closed. On the one hand, he wanted to explain to her that influencing and controlling someone else's magic wasn't as isolated as she thought. But the other hand was a more pressing matter.

He'd let her speak as she wanted, without pressure. But now, having heard everything she was telling him--and wasn't--he looked to her, his eyes plain.

And he hesitated.

Looking back down at the picture, he made up his mind. It was the past. She would come to terms with it eventually--so long as it didn't hold them back, then she could do it at her own pace. She was telling him now, so she was making the effort.

"Then you should know that you're already at a distinct disadvantage, since that... Darkness we fought is around," he explained. "You saw it--you felt it. That was just a small manifestation, and it could completely manipulate any essence of Darkness that wasn't our own."

"But considering your own connection to this...," he continued, letting that hang. Something made him uncomfortable calling it a 'creature' now that he knew. "Then there's still a chance. But you have to do it right. If you're going to master your darkness, then you can't do it alone."

He nodded toward the others. "Stick around for a bit. I need to bring up this topic with Master Yen Sid, anyway. You're not the only one with an interest in self-mastery."
