Oh? So he was! Cody grinned and pressed start. "This is a...jrp sort of thing? I think that's what he called it." He was more accustom to the simple games on cell phones. "Are you a closet gaming expert?" He asked.

"I'm not the biggest fan of turn-based battling, but we'll see. That's more of an early-rpg sort of thing, and the graphics don't look... turn-based-y..." Then Cody asked a question and he realized he was rambling.
"I play maybe more than an adult male should?" Except when he had been purely alien he'd had nothing to do for twelve hours! He could go out into the back yard, he could game, or he could paint.

"I'm sure there's people who play more often than you," Cody said. He couldn't imagine Dari with too much free time; he was a secret agent, after all. And he spent his weekends with him. "Maybe you can teach me some tricks. And er, this is kind of a hybrid. You can run around and avoid attacks, but it's kind of turny. Mostly you just jam x or square and hope for the best."

"Eh, that's better than nothing," Dari said with a smile. "We'll see if we can't find some tricks, sure. I'm surprise it's local multiplayer. That's so hard to find nowadays in anything but military shoot-em-ups."It had been hard to find something to play with Maia in that way. You could get hurt in their diving game, but there was no blood, and you didn't necessarily have to kill things if you could swim fast enough.
"Ooh. What class do you want to be?"

They played the game for an hour or so. Cody was getting frustrated with his coughing spells. They seemed to show up every time they were fighting some monster, simple or not, it didn't seem to discriminate. He paused the game, covering his mouth and struggling.
He sighed and flopped against the back of the couch.

Ah, it seemed they were done. Dari had been having fun, but caring for Cody was at the forefront of his mind. He rubbed Cody's back as he coughed and then saved the game.
"My poor love," he said, "When can you take your next dose?"

"In an hour," Cody said. He was tempted to take one now. Stupid flu. He wanted to spend time with Dari, not reaquaint himself with his pillows.
He looked at the television and sighed. Apparently games were impossible to play with the flu. His head was starting to hurt from all the coughing. "I'm sorry love, let's play when I'm better." It'd been fun, things had moved quickly with two players.

"It's alright. I think it's about time I check the soup anyway." He got up from the couch and headed for the kitchen from which rather pleasant aromas were issuing. He checked the pot and took an experimental spoonful, then nodded.
"How do you feel about dinner? Are you hungry at all?" Soup was a good dinner for a sick man, but not for a healthy one, not really, not without some side. Oh well. It wasn't like he actually needed it. Maybe Cody was too sick to notice or care.

Dinner sounded good, actually. But was Dari really only going to eat soup? He gave his love a sceptical look and pulled out his phone. He'd order pizza for him.
"I'll eat. And so will you," He wouldn't let Dari starve on his account! Soup wasn't a filling enough dinner!

"Nonono!" Dari said, and waved a hand dismissively at Cody, "I'll just make a sandwich or something, there's no need to spend any more money." Damnit. He didn't want to eat anything at all, let alone more than Cody!

Cody hung up midway through asking the person taking the order for a pizza with "the works". He went to the kitchen and opened the fridge. "Okay, toasted cheese? I can make you something."

"Geeeeerms~" Dari said, scooping Cody a bowl of soup and offering it to him, "I've got it, don't worry about me." Although grilled cheese and soup really did sound like a nice combination.

"You're already going to get it!" Cody argued. "You can't avoid flu germs when we're in the same room." He kissed Dari's cheek and took his bowl of soup. "Fine," he said, "But you've got to make it with extra cheese, that's the best. When it stretches after you've cut it apart."

Dari smiled and nodded. Grilled cheese had been one of the first things Toby had taught himself and Lori. He left the lid on the soup for now, made himself the sandwich, and got a bowl of soup. He'd get everything put away and taken care of after he'd eaten.
"How is it?" he asked from the kitchen.

"Good!" Cody replied, taking a bite of soup. It was wonderful. He savored it before swallowing, and then added, "You'll have to share your recipe, this is amazing." The warmth of the soup really helped his throat, too.
