Time for Fanime Report:
First of all, I spent significantly less than I expected to. I had thought that I'd spend around $600 dollars, but only spent around $400. So I am not as broke as I thought I'd be. Which is good. Went to the Studio Sokodei stuff, which was as amusing as always. Saw ReDeath ReDux, Nescaflone, and Fanboy Bebop. Also hung out in the dealer's room and bought stuff, which will be listed at the end. On Saturday was the usual concert, which was okay. There were four bands, one of which I really liked. They had a voice actress/singer who sang the theme to a new series she was in, which I can't remember of the name of. Then was Ramen and Rice, which came all the way from the
East Bay. Way out there, I know. Anyways, it was a brother and sister playing video game and anime songs they'd arranged for a cello and a violin, which was actually really good. They were easily my favorite. Then was a singer, Kumiko Kato, and a band, ZZ. They were good, but nothing groundbreaking. Next day was the AMV finals and the Cosplay masquerade. There were some good AMVs, but again, nothing to really get excited about. Except Lord of the Yen, and I already had that. Der cosplay was fun, as usual. There was some good and some bad.
Anyways, the Gaia panel was fun, and they revealed stuff about Gaia Neighborhoods as well as more stuff for posting. Neighborhoods will be limited to 6 at first, but will finally make use of houses. Plus, when in neighborhoods, you'll be able to do chat stuff like in fishing. And the avatars will be animated! It seemed pretty cool. The posting stuff related to actually making use of the ignore list as well as having several type of bubbles, like screaming or thinking or whispering or the like. There was also info on the Casino and a few demo items from it, including a jester's cap. Can't wait. Oh, and they gave everyone who went to the panel Gaia gold. It was the little chocolate gold that you get in bags, but it was Gaia. There was a big G, like the G pins on one side and a picture of Gambino on the other. It was cool.
I also participated in the game show on Saturday. I went to the one on Friday, which was really disorganized and not working. Plus the people participating really were useeless, so questions they all couldn't answer were asked to the audience. I got one right, which got me in effect a "Get on the Gameshow tomorrow" pass. I went to the one the next day, which was two games. I sat the first one out, since it was about a specific day on Adult Swim, and thus I'd have lost. The second one was about Robots and Ninjas, and I was IN on that one. I got first. The way the prizes went was that everyone drew a ball with a piece of paper with a word on it, including this one random person. Last place got to chose either random person's ball or his own. He then got that prize. He stuck with his own, which turned out to be a box containing .hack//legent of the twilight DVD 1, a LotT T-shirt, and some of the .hack CCG. Next person either got to take that prize, their own ball, or random person's ball all the way up the line. I was first, and thus got my choice of any of the prizes. I took the box. Woohoo.
