"I wish you didn't have to see me like this. If there was some kind of spell to go hey! Presto! And I'm suddenly well again, I'd do it." But that was too much Harry Potter. He took the offered tissue. "If you get this, you're going to have to let me take care of you."

Well there was, but he was pretty sure Cody would feel back for giving Lori rebound sickness. Plus it was hard to tell how Cody would feel about another gay man getting all... close and intimate. Dari personally wouldn't mind. Lori was engaged. That was it.
"Sure," Dari said, but he didn't sound honest about it. Of course he knew he wasn't going to get sick, but he wouldn't want Cody missing any school for his sake. "You just worry about getting better."

Cody sighed, glancing around the hospital room. "Once when I was a kid I was stuck in the hospital for a few days. I was pretty sick, but I didn't realize how sick. When I was taken there, I was annoyed I was missing my afternoon cartoons." He shook his head. "I hate doctors."

Dari smiled. "Well, sometimes they're worth it."
There was a knock at the door as if someone was expected to be half-dressed and the doctor re-entered.
"You've tested positive for the flu virus type a. I'm going to give you some cough suppressant and an antiviral, and then something for the night, alright?"
Dari nodded, and didn't realize he was speaking for Cody. "Thank you."
"What pharmacy do you use? We can send these right away."
Now Dari turned to Cody.

"Just the one at the rite-aid here," Cody said. The pharmacy there would be good enough, and it was next to a grocery store. "Thank you," He added, looking to the doctor.

With that the doctor nodded and just left.
"Uh. Well. Okay. Let's get you home, Sicky." Dari leaned in and kissed Cody's cheek. He took the man's hand and helped him off the exam table and out the door.

"Stupid doctors," Cody muttered, once he was on the floor. "You keep kissing me and you're going to end up sick," He warned, concerned. He kept Dari's hand though, and said, "the medicines will probably be ready in fifteen minutes. We have time to shop."

Dari stroked Cody's sweat-soaked forehead curls as they headed out.
"Are you sure you want to come? Don't you just want to relax? You can't feel very good," he said. "I don't mind dropping you off at home and going back out."

The offer to relax was tempting. Cody considered it for a long moment. He shook his head. "I need to pick up my medication, they'll probably need to see my id or something." And, to be honest, he'd prefer staying with Dari. "I won't go into the grocery store," he offered.

"If you're sure," Dari said. He sighed worriedly and then took Cody's hand. He hated seeing his lover sick. Cody was always so happy and positive, and now he looked like he had one foot in the grave.
The trip to the pharmacy was easy enough and, as predicted, they did need to see Cody's license. The pharmacist took it with the care of a person who hadn't had the flu yet this year. Dari stood beside Cody to help support him and they did get a few odd looks, but who cared? It was normal people odd looks, not 'something doesn't look right about that man' looks.

It was nice, almost, having someone take care of him. It was something his mother had never stopped doing; not until he'd moved too far away for her to forcefeed him chicken noodle soup. He really didn't want Dari sick, though... He coughed into his elbow and grimaced.
"Will you be going home tonight?" He asked.

Dari was affectionately stroking Cody's arm when he spoke. Dari turned to look him in the eye.
"Do you want me to? I could stay," he replied. "I could take a couple of days if you want..." He had a feeling Cody wouldn't want him to.

Cody shook his head. He'd been about to suggest Dari go home for the night. He didn't want Dari sick. "I don't want you missing work because of me, love."

"I don't want you to be sick alone either." Laying there on the couch, all alone, snuffling and coughing and wallowing in misery with nobody to help. He needed babying. Dari had decided that. He suddenly understood why Toby had been so hurried when Maia was sick. He felt like he needed to be there all the time.
The pharmacist called Cody's name and they retrieved the bag and paid, and then it was to the grocery store.

Cody gave Dari a small smile. "Let's compromise, then," he said, with a cough. He wiped at the fever caused sweat on his brow, making a face. "You can stay the night, but go to work in the morning? I can text you if I feel like death."
