steelunit Sir Kyle Aziz Alright, well. I suppose I should post this here, but the Elysians are 2-0 as of today. Murdered a Tau army, then followed it up by a solid win over a Pedro Kantor army. Drop troops ho! Nice job. So, tell me, does your entire army deep strikes or arrives on first turn? Neither, first turn I can't have any reserves come in, as I do not have a rule that superscedes the BRB's reserve rule. All of my flyers, typically fly on, turn 2-3 with on average over my past games only one out of seven not coming in turn 2. Though, with the Pedro Kantor drop pod list, I had to start all my infantry on the table so as not to get tabled before the cavalry could arrive. FW has said that they're working on a PDF update of the Elysians to help better equip them for 6th edition, as it stands now. The Elysian player must weather the storm until they can get their reserves in, as flyers may not start on the table, or come in turn 1.

I might be mistaken, but don't 6th ed rules say that at least half the army has to start on the table now?

DarkElf27 I might be mistaken, but don't 6th ed rules say that at least half the army has to start on the table now? I think it was some units. As long as an opponent has one or more units on the table it is still in the game. If you have nothing on the table and the rest in reserve, then you lose. wink

Dark Elf is partially right. You can't willingly place more then half of your army in reserves. This doesn't apply to armies using reserve only units, such as drop pods, flyers or something similar as those units can not start on the table.

Good thing you have a pair of Tauros on the ground to give you something to move during the first turn. wink

That would be a pity. Oh well, can't win 'em all as they say.
I'm looking at a small and heavy 1.000 point list right now for an upcoming campaign, mostly using the stuff I have handy, more or less. From what I've gathered this campaign will use the Crusade of Fire system, where your primary HQ unit will be your grand warlord and as such, cannot be changed in any way over the course of the campaign. Seeing as this is Guard and I am not fond of taking special characters like so many others, I'm torn between either a Lord Commissar or a regular command squad. Only problem is, the command squad picked will be fixed and cannot be changed once used.
Anyway, here's what I'm pondering on right now:
Lord Commissar - Power weapon, carapace armour and melta bombs (95)
Ratlings x6 (60)
Veterans - Shotguns, 3x meltagun, carapace armour (130) Chimera - Multi-laser and heavy bolter (55)
Veterans - Shotguns, 3x meltagun, carapace armour (130) Chimera - Multi-laser and heavy bolter (55)
Scout Sentinels (3) - 3x autocannon, smoke launchers (135)
Leman Russ Exterminator - 3x heavy bolter (170)
Leman Russ Exterminator - 3x heavy bolter (170)
Total: 1000
Or..
Company Command squad - Power weapon, medic, vox caster, 2x meltagun, 2x body guard (165) Chimera - Multi-laser and heavy bolter (55)
Ratlings x6 (60)
Veterans - Shotguns, 3x meltagun, carapace armour (130) Chimera - Multi-laser and heavy bolter (55)
Veterans - Shotguns, 3x meltagun, carapace armour (130) Chimera - Multi-laser and heavy bolter (55)
Leman Russ Exterminator - 3x heavy bolter (170)
Leman Russ Exterminator - 3x heavy bolter (170)
Total: 1000
Right now I'm more or less going with the first list, which I've got lying around more or less, aside from the odd Sentinel and second Russ. The only scenario the HQ unit there would really be knackered would be the Arena of Blood, which is HQ versus HQ (and hopefully, masters of ordnance will be barred!).
Army background: I'm going with the Minervans for this regiment, a mechanized regiment hailing from a world not far from Armageddon mostly known for its tank legions. The lord commissar will be used as the commanding officer of the unit, a major or something along those lines. The veterans will be done with Victoria miniatures minis and where needed, proxied by Elysians until the rest can be ordered in.

DarkElf27 I might be mistaken, but don't 6th ed rules say that at least half the army has to start on the table now? Yes it does, however, daemons is one of the special armies that must deep strike their entire army. However they pick Half their army and try to roll it as a preferred first wave. They come in on first turn regardless of reserve rolls. The rest must make reserve rolls on second turn and later to come in.

Ok, been looking at my DA codex and my IG codex, and haven't really found a good Allies army list set up. Even a normal SM set up with IG would be helpful. Any suggestions around 2000 points?
