DarkElf27 So what's the consensus on the new Stormtalons? When I think of them as aerial dreadnoughts, I actually like them a lot, and think that they'd help augment a high-speed force with greater firepower. Think of it as an AH-64, only less hunter-killer and more escort fighter due to its rules. I'm a bit sketchy on these as of yet, still need to score a new WD with the rules for it and the Ork construct.

I'd like to run it in a sort of heavy-fire-support role. That's possible. The twin-asscan are a fixed feature, but the weapon pods can be modified to carry: Lascannons, heavy bolters, missile launchers and skyhammer(?) rockets, an autocannon strength missile weapon, heavy 3.

The Stormtalon is an interesting addition to the range and brings a good fast attack choice to Marine armies who want to field something other than assault squads or bikes. I think we should be glad that these cannot be bought in squadrons, unlike the murderous Vendetta. sweatdrop edit. The Stormtalon's rules: Quote: Space Marine Stormtalon Gunship 130pts + upgrades BS4 AV11 Fast Skimmer Supersonic Aerial Assault Ceramite Plating Deep Strike No transporting ability Comes with Twin linked Assault Cannons and a Twin linked Heavy Bolter than can be upgraded to the following Twin linked Lascannon Typhoon Missle Launcher Sky Hammer Missle Launcher 60" S7 AP4 Heavy 3 Escort Craft Can be attached to a unit of deep strikers, and will appear within 6" of the deepstriking unit Hover Strike Can convert to a skimmer but not move in order to recieve a +1 to BS

The Ork Bommer is a great way to get a Ork Fighta or Fighta Bomma on the cheap( Money wise). You can make almost the same kit as the Fighta, or the Bomma and it costs half as much, plus you get extra bits.

I'm surprised the Stormtalon kit doesn't cost as much as the Valkyrie or Stormraven...

notmuch_23 I'm surprised the Stormtalon kit doesn't cost as much as the Valkyrie or Stormraven... It is a smaller kit with a lower part count. I am more surprised that both the Ork and Necron kits are of the same price, while containing more parts and options.

It really depends on the load out of the bird, though I must admit that I don't find myself compelled to never leave home without one.

I think the skyhammer launcher has the most synergy with the assault cannon which sadly is not upgradeable to anything. Of course you CAN outfit it with tl lascannon and go heavy armor hunting, but then AC is getting useless unless you get lucky 6. I think this is a very nice addition to marine arsenals and one that will be very popular - maybe not on a level of "dont leave home without one" but on a level of "2/3 tournament armies have at least 2".

Somehow I doubt we'll be seeing a lot of the Stormtalon at tournaments. Call it a hunch.
