Lt. Brookman
Either side of the coin has its pros and cons. Going fodder heavy can make you rather slow moving, or turn you into a massive static gun line, which while befitting of the Imperial Guard will not win you games unless you plan on denying the enemy objectives through excessive use of fire power. All-infantry leaf-blowers, haven't seen those as of yet.

Going heavy on the veterans and pricey Storm Troopers can leave you outnumbered and most certainly outgunned, but as mentioned, transports can do a lot to make them a wee bit more survivable. But in the end, they are still I3 chaps with lasguns for the most part, BS4 or not, a lasgun can only do so much against most opponents you face. Granted, Hellguns have AP3, but lack the strength and range sadly.

With my old army I preferred the combined approach myself: Two platoons with teeth to bite into the enemy backed by a few tanks with some special units on the side for nabbing objectives, something a Valkyrie-borne squad is ideal for. Or just go with a penal squad or two, cheap, sometimes effective if your roll is good and well, they are troops, so they can hold onto objectives.

My current airborne army, is more of a hopefully proper shock and awe tactic, where you roll onto the table from one side with wave after wave of flyers, strafe the crap out of the enemy and drop your troops in when they have the best chance of survival. Not much success thus far, as I need to rely an awful lot of the fire power of my birds to win.

I would agree on those Pros and Cons I deal with. However, I tend to stay away from the typical IG army and make mine more Specialized. For Ex, I do not really field any normal Leman Russ Battle Tanks, they are all specialized. Demolishers, Exterminators, even a Punisher, but no battle cannons.

I wouldn't say they are useless. They are like 6 total heavy weapons teams worth of fire power. I just love taking a Leman Russ, like the Demolisher, and just utterly destroying a entire squad of Chaos Khorne Beserkers in one devastating shot.

I will always filled my Leman Russ tanks, because I like those moving Bunkers of death, which are also Metal death coffins for Imperial Crews that are in them.

I think the leftenant is referring to the fact that Leman Russ tanks with ordnance weapons and other weapons are less effective at the job now than they were then.

Read up some on Catachans too, they are born and raised on a jungle Death world where every living thing on the planet, plant or animal, is basically trying to kill, possess, or eat them alive. Definitely fits into the badass category as well!

Damn straight! I'll look them up in a bit. Right now I'm reading over the God Emporer of humanity. This guy....He makes the Emporer of the Empire from Star wars look like some loyal chair man of a company! This Emporer's legit. The Golden throne must be cozy. I love his origin story, Ultra-bad a**.
Also jsut woundering, Are you planning any good RPs soon? I've been searching for a good war hammer 40k RP guild, but so far not much luck. :c
I want to make an Imperial Guard Cadian RPC, and fight along isde my Battle brothers aginast Ugly Orks and Chaos marines.

I know steelunit was talking about starting an RP in the discussion thread, if you post over there you guys might be able to coordinate something!

Also people will look at you funny if you keep spelling it "Emporer" instead of "Emperor". ninja

Yeah, with Lumbering Behemoth out of the picture vanilla Russ tanks certainly took a turn for worse. I'm sad that my old tool-boxes on treads are no longer as effective as they once were.

Actually, after researching the rules carefully, the Lumbering Behemoth rules now states the Leman Russ is a considered a Heavy Tank, which is a unit characteristic. The rules state that a Heavy Tank can not move faster than Combat speed, and may never elect to Move flat out. That means, the Leman can only move a maximum of 6' per turn, but with that considered, it can fire all of its weapons at BS, because it will be considered stationary the entire time, even if it moved.

So, from my research, the made the Lemans more like a Chaos Obliterator, slow and purposeful. I am glad the Lemans became even more dangerous, hazzaaahhh! xd

You may want to read the bit about vehicles shooting with ordnance weapons though. When a vehicle fires an ordnance weapon all other weapons on the vehicle can only perform snap-fire shots.

Yes, this. Page 71 of the rulebook, at the bottom right corner.
