Well, that's really odd... Why wasn't she allowed to tell you what the award was for?

Oh, cool. I don't think we had an awards ceremony at my school... My middle school had one every year, but not my high school I guess.

That happened to me once for a congressional art show in our area. I didn't even enter! My teacher entered my art, which was bogus of her not to at least inform me, but then I almost missed the announcement altogether. So I didn't even know which piece won an award until the day of the show.
Edit: Oh, and I got Judge's Recognition. It's like the second step up.... odd how they're graded. Honorable mention are for those who did a really good job. Judge's recognition is a step above that where you did a great job, but you didn't really win anything, and then there was a scholarship that went to this chick who did a picture of a stack of books with a bible on top... it wasn't that good and of course the girl knew about it before she arrived, so it wasn't a surprise. I still think she won because of the bible....
I saw a couple of other pictures that were really good and should have won. Mine wasn't one of those, not at all, but I still don't think she should have gotten the scholarship for a so-so painting.

I start ballet in the fall whee
