There was a tranquility, a peace, in an existance just off from the smaller islands, on one of the bigger ones. Not exactly raped by civilization, but a peaceful place made of hand-built homes, restaurants with fresh cooked food, and a currency system all to it's own, there was... repair. And Nexxus saught this, as life was so fresh, and raw, experiences so new.

He had come in the middle of the night, and had made himself a home within the first few hours, and had been regarded with speculation by the locals as he worked a fire like some blacksmith, but using his barehands. Making stuff. He had voyaged inward of the small town only once, to fetch physical sustenance, a concept he didn't know, but knew he needed.

Hunger had gripped the child, though he looked to be in his thirties, fourties atleast. The white hair threw it off greatly. Regardless, he was an impressive, impressive man. He leaned against a pillar of glass, made of sand and heat, and watched outward, just relaxing before he had to get back to work.

In his hand was a cucumber, being eaten whole, rather than sliced.

Shadow Island had passed over this island before. It was quickly growing from barren, to inhabited to downright civil. Maximos decided to check it out, maybe he could assist its economy and save Walter and himself unnecessary trips Latent or Barthavros as the need may be.

Twin purple and black streaks tore the sky, as Maximos zoomed over, the streaks bringing themselves ever closer to the island before extinguishing entirely.

The extra momentum carrying the Shadow forward, and landing him on the island with a loud thump. Just a hundred feet or so outside of town. He wore his standard travel clothes, a dark blue pinstripe vest over a long black shirt, and a set of black pants and boots.

Shops and such...thats what he was looking for.

Nexxus would blink, as the man landed just a stones throw away from him, as he himself was a few yards from the blossoming town. He would watch the man from his safe distance, continuing to munch on his cucumber.

(For the sake of describing the place I'm going to be roleplaying from, I'm gonna describe the spot Nexxus has made his own.)

His haven, though slightly large, was simple. Pillars of sand had been lifted and heated, making up the outward supports, appearing to be entirely made of glass. The hovel was in sand, yes, but it was solid, secure, and about Twenty feet long, and Ten wide. As you went in, towards the land, The roofed building got deeper, and at the back was a firepit and simple living neccessities... A cot, his possessions, and his recent purchases. Variety here, not just one particular food, but many. Curiousity had grabbed his palette. The supports hold up a roof of less pristine glass, obviously made pellmell, by raising dirt and flash-heating it. It fell in jagged spears, and but served. This one was not seethrough, covered on top by dirt and foliage, keeping it peacefully.... Dark inside.

As the man, dressed in black drew closer, it was quickly realized that the newcomer was not a man, but a creature. Nexxus had flesh of a black so dark it was tainted blue, and where one bore hair and sweat from his pores, Nexxus bore no hair, and seeped a constant black mist from beneath his flesh. Many common people had pupils, whites, and irises, but Nexxus' eyes were simply... yellow, and they left trails on ones eyes when he moved his head. (Much like tail-lights at high speeds.) His hair was white, and his body was muscled, enough to be obvious what he was intended for. He wore a simple, rough spun shirt that was ripped half-way down the front, but sewn up with a simple thin strip of leather. He didn't wear his weapon beneath the shirt at the moment, but instead it rested at the back of his hastily made hovel. Legs were covered with brown leather pants, somewhat baggy and relaxed in a manner that the clothing should not be. Feet were barren, revealing two, thick toes, as if the man wore some badly stitched tabi-socks. Boots, too, resided in the back.

As the other visitor drew closer, Nexxus would finish his current bite of cucumber, raise a hand, and speak a soft greeting. "Hello."

Oh, hello!

Maximos said with the friendliest tone and the warmest of smiles. He had a way of engaging a person in which it almost sounded and looked as if he had known this person for years! Even if they had just met.

He could see, taste, even smell the darkness dripping from the lads body but didnt flinch in the slightest, acting no more surprised than one would act if they saw a squirrel run up a tree. Perhaps he didnt want to be rude, perhaps he pitied the boy. Or perhaps...

Would you happen to know where I can find a good market?

Perhaps, he wanted to find a good place to go to market. Either way, he was very friendly.

Nexxus would motion to the survivng village.

"There's a fairly decent concept of a main street. People set up stalls, and stuff. Local produce, some meats that are cured... There's a restaurant too... It's not much, but it's cozy. I can share if you're interested in some tourist-on-tourist company. I'm new. I don't even know what these are called."

He'd hold up the cucumber keenly, rather fond of the vegetable.

"They're nice and juicy, though."

Maximos smirked.

Oh! Excellent.

He'd tilt his head a bit in the direction he was gestured too, a light scan and he could see a few people arranged in a market type of location. It was indeed quite cozy, it reminded him of home...what without the shadow curse, and pain of the plague...he turned back to his new dark accomplishment and nodded gingerly.

Sounds like a plan...

He said taking a few steps and then turning back.

...shall we?

Another step or two, and he would turn and gesture toward the vegetable in the boys hands.

Oh, and thats a cucumber. Mr...

He would hang the sentence out a bit leaving space for a name.

"Nexxus. With two Xs." He followed his name with the defensive words much as a child might, defending the only solid thing he could really hold onto. Immediately chomping into the cucumber, he'd follow the man in relative silence, pausing as his feet felt the difference in the textures as what he was walking on changed.

"And you are?" He paused as they began to walk onto the beaten path of a very rough road, the start into the village. He wiggled his feet, and even stomped them a little bit, quirked by the packed dirt.

Maximos.

He said with a smile, nodding as he let the mans named roll around in his head a bit, making sure he got the right pronunciation.

One X. A pleasure to meet you Mr. Nexxus.

He could hear the scrunch of gravel under his boot, and see the rather easy going towns people selling wares. He wasnt actually sure they could give the sort of supply on the scale he was looking for but...looks can be deceiving.

So, Mr. Nexxus, did you mean you were new to this island, or new to this world?

"New to life, Maximos. I'm only a few hours old."

If he was trying to feed an army, this was obviously not the place to look. They had enough to supply a ship, if such a requirement came, though they did lack a harbor of any type... But... Give them time, eh?

His eyes drifted back towards his modest hall, before he'd follow Maximos into the town again, smiling charmingly at the villagers as they passed and went about their lives.

"What about you? What brings you to such an obviously under established place? ... And for that matter, how did you arrive? It was most curious, to see you land. You didn't seem to be using any of the modes of transportation I have seen."

Hours? Really?

Maximos said with a quizzical look on his face. He had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and this being was certainly something he could learn about.

And yet you've mastered the common tongue so quickly. And easily. I'm impressed.

He seemed a bit embarrassed, he hated to reveal his inventions before they were perfected. He sort of nervously tapped one of his boots against the other.

Its a basic enchantment gather and expelling basic dark to create the illusion of flight. I was really looking for a market closer to home than Latent or Barthavros. We tend to eat...big meals.

He smirked, laughing to himself a bit.

Under established...interesting, have you been to other places perhaps, or had other lives that allowed you to compare?

He was just so very curious!

"I have been created with a purpose intended, and so have been gifted with various knowledges to suit those needs. the basic languages come easy for me. As well as combat, which is part of my primary point in existance."

His arms crossed behind his back, one hand grabbing the opposite wrist as he walked, and for a moment, he felt very naked without the possessions he had been birthed with...

"I have been to two cities, so far, though only briefly. One, I believe is called Barton, if I remember right, and I never learned the other's name."

He listened to the curious explination of.... enchantmentsm and expelling of flesh, and illusions... And likewise, his intrigue was piqued.

"You shoot your life force out of your feet to produce the mirage that you are a bird? .... Most curious... I... Open doors in the shadows, and walk through." A simple explination, for what he did. He didn't know how else to explain it.

Very interesting...

Maximos said folding his arms across his chest, his right arm gently tapping his chin. He was very much the listener, taking in information and remembering as much as he could. A being created, and for combat. And even more so, created from nothing but darkness.

Combat....hmm....

Just a small notice to show he was indeed paying attention. And like a proper friendly gentlemen he would wait for Nexxus to finish before interjecting. That is of course after chuckling at the creatures description of his enchantment.

Not quite my friend. But close enough. If I may ask though, who created you, and what is your purpose?

"An entity, known to me as the Void. A large, dark, dark place. The Void is displeased, because creatures it had graced long ago have given darkness a name for evil. The void is displeased because it's gifts are tarnished by such creatures... I have been sent to dispose of those who would use darkness to achieve evil ends."

He pauses, at a stall, motioning to the varieties of vegetables.

"This is where I got most of my vegetables. They were fresh, generally unbattered, and were the best choice I could find." He says, smiling to the woman who ran the stall.

"... Though I am meant to destroy those who abuse the Void's gifts, I do not seek them out openly, but confront them when I find them. It is wrong to accuse, without proof."

He yawns and stretches, huffing a sigh as he falls slack, slouching almost entirely; his fingers tickled at his knees for a moment, before he'd straighten, turning at the waist while keeping his legs planted, a motion that would usually pop ones back, but did not emulate the noise as the man emulated the action.

An entity out to give darkness a good name...

He paused, tapping his chin for a moment. It was an interesting quandry, the idea of something usually associated with malalignment being unnerved and wanting its name cleared. Not impossible but interesting.

Dispose of how? If I may ask.

Maximos took the moment, to test squeeze a few of the fruits and vegetables, testing for strength size, that sort of thing. They were rather fresh, and rather ripe. Of course in the back of his mind, he had to how they grew these without a viable port. Island sand is not usually culpable for growing crops. He of course, waited for an answer before speaking again.

"Execution."

His voice is simple and calm at the statement.

"After Interrogation of course. If they can't be turned to the side of good... Well, I've also been well versed in the methods of the execution of various creatures of darkness."

Nexxus would smile at the vendor, and buy another cucumber, not bother to check it as Maximos did. He had an eye for these things.

"For the sake of espionage and sabotage I've also been gifted with the ability to change my appearance and physical and unnatural abilities to fit that of the variety of creatures that use the Darkness' power."
