Adrienne leaned against the wago and watched him work. "Then why on earth would I make myssself valuable to you if my goal wasss to get you to let me go ssso that I can return to Kaissser." A valid point in her mind.

"I wonder."

Jin reached underneath the wagon and removed the tether that he had tied there; moving it up and tying it to a post at the front of the wagon instead. Then he pulled on the line, tugging in the slack to tell Adrienne that it was time to leave.

Adrienne made her way to the front of the wagon to climb up next to Jin. "I hate you." Adri turned to watch the dark shapes of the mountains as they passed, her head propped up on her hand and her arm propped up on one leg.

"Have you always?"

Jin snapped the reigns, and the wagon began its slow journey south once again.

"Ah.." Adrienne frowned. No, she hadn't always hated him. He'd actually been pretty nice when she'd first met him and it wasn't like he'd been mean other than dragging her away from Kaiser. He had set Kaiser up though. "What doesss it matter?"
PostPosted: Tue May 13, 2008 3:58 pm

"It doesn't matter." Jin calmly continued to drive the horses, though the path was getting a little narrower as the wagon went around a bend in the mountain road. "You show your loyalty only to your master. I came before that man, and I come after him. If you cling to past loyalties then your chains that were placed in my hands never really left them."

Adrienne opened her mouth to speak, "Eh..." She sighed. She couldn't argue with that logic. No matter how much she hated it, he was right. She had never fully left his employ. "Very well."

Well, after something so life changing as that, what was there left for Damion to do? Turn his a** around and start walking towards what he could only assume was the south! What, you expecting some kind of epic power display or some long monologue? Not a chance. That kind of stuff just wasn't in Damions nature nor was it his focus. This was a quest after all, and he ment to complete it. And so off he went, holding the stone in his hands as he started scaling back up the ravine edge he had surfed down alittle while ago.

Slow, painstaking, backbreaking work was what it turned in to, sweat pouring down his face, making his peach fuzzed hair glisten in the swiftly dying sunlight. He was going to have to make camp before leaving again for the desert. But that was a matter for the 30 minutes after his climb started, when he reached the top that was.

" Where's my bike?" He asked no one in particular, sweat cutting lines through the dirt on his arms and face as he looked around swiftly, eyebrows drawing down into a rather angry look. " Where's my ******** bike?" He yelled, dropping the rock unceremoniously to the ground as he stomped forward to where the bike had been. " the ******** is this s**t?!!" The islander snarled, stalking around where his bike had been, not seeing the multitudes of little footprints in the dirt, his eyes weren't perfect in the darkness that was falling over the world.

" ******** hell!!"

Had their travel continued on? It would be several days time before the two of them left the Mithril Mountainrange and began to travel through the lowlands north of Dur'em towards the cities. In that time there would be many more chances for Adrienne to attempt her escapes, and much more time for her to brood hatefully in reflection of her recent kidnapping.

There may even have been other travelers along the road as well.

Jin broke the silence long before they left the mountains. "What is your wish, my Lady?"

Adrienne turned to look at Jin, ignoring the landscape for the moment as her captor and new master broke the silence. "Would you prefer honesty, or would you prefer I give you some lame answer such as gold and riches?"

"If my Lady desires riches, she will have to take them."

"Trussst me, I don't want richesss. I want to ssserve and..." Adrienne paused, unsure if she wanted to say the next part... she said the only thing she could say. "And needed."

"All that is needed to serve is the desire to," Jin said, holding the reigns, "all that to be needed is to make oneself indisposable."

Adrienne fell into silence, she was unsure of how to respond to his 'wisdom'. The basilisk turned away for a moment before carefully rising and slipping into the back of the wagon. She had to serve him, she didn't have to talk to him as if he were a companion.

If Adrienne had nothing more to say, Jin would continue to drive the cart in silence for a while longer. There was still much distance for them to cover, and many things to put behind them. The time spent traveling along the mountain road would be the time needed in order to break Adrienne of her old habits and her attachment to Kaiser. There would be little room for forgiveness once they reached the cities.
