It was amazing simply how many interactions and events could take place in one evening. Quickly, the marriage counselor was reminded just why he had chosen his job...he loved to watch people, listen to them and get to understand them on levels most others never cared too.

Like...that girl over near the end of the tables now. Besides the choice in costume,...Leah with a fish tail? Which much could be said about, her actions were highly amusing. Would she be dancing like that if she knew any one was watching? Perhaps a test in theory was needed.

Moving from his position in the back of the corner, Charlie neared the young lady, chuckling from under his breath, "Having fun? " He casual asked, pretending to reach for some sort of food, as if on a previous mission. "It looks like it."

Billy remained parked where Sid had left him, inky drool cleaned up properly and his attention had returned to the bottle clutched in his tentacles. He had enjoyed a few sips, but after that his heart just wasn't in it anymore. Even admist a party where in all theories the octopus man *should* have been more in his element, he was a broken man.

At the sight of the girating feminan rear, though, something human left in Billy rose to attention. Granted it was in soul rather than physical form, his attention was had. The octopus in him was also drawn by the punctuation of fresh fish. His attention thusly grabbed, his tentacles wormed around the bars of his chair, and he slowly began wheeling towards the soft, pink, fleshy, source of hope.

Sayuri Satoharu

Sayuri almost fell over with shock, eyes opening and grabbing wildly at the table as a male voice sounded near her. Her cheeks reddened, embarrassed at being caught dancing, and in this costume! She would not be able to merely slip away as he was speaking to her, so she bowed, her plaited hair falling forwards over a shoulder as she did so.
'Please excuse,' she mumbled a little.
'I did not see anyone. I was..practising.' she finished lamely.

Her manner was almost scientifically in tune with how he pictured her to respond. First she stopped--abruptly so, the jerky motions a far cry from the smoother rhythm she had held before. Embarrassment, the terrified look of being caught in the act. Act? What act? True it was no crime to dance...nonetheless, one's mind always made it criminal. To embarrass oneself was never acceptable.

Ah, but now to attune for the trouble he had caused. "Practice? Was that all it was.." Charlie faintly smiled, "But you looked so professional." The statement, not all together a lie, wasn't quite the truth though. "Now why apologize for that? It was quite the treat." All warm and welcoming words, he tried his best to speak over the music, but was sure some of the charm was left out.

Yamamoto Kikue

Kikue slipped in underneath the tent, staring around her wide-eyed at the festive decorations clinging to the ceiling and the food littering the tables. It had all the trappings of a Japanese matsuri -- that was what it reminded her of, with the shining lanterns and the constant sound of conversation. Her ears pricked foward as she tried to take in all the sights at once -- there were so many Islanders that she saw in one glance that she didn't know. I need to get to know these people; try and give them the survey eventually...

Beyond that, even, she was astounded at the different human-but-animal creatures milling around the floor.

She adjusted her costume, a cosplay from her favorite movie. The bath house uniform was comfortable; at least she could feel a breeze in the heavy, hot air.

Sayuri shook her head - it was obvious he was just being overly nice to her.
'Sankyu. You are kind to say, but Sayuri know she is bad dancer,' she said self-deprecatingly, and introducing herself at the same time. She allowed herself to look him in the face for the first time and found herself staring at his hair. She had not seen a colour like that on a man before now. She flicked her gaze from him quickly, her tail swishing, betraying her feeling of awkwardness.

Marshall, yet again, made it through the sea of people, desperate for another drink. He just couldn't get that dirty, burnt taste out of his mouth. As Marshall neared the bar again, he recognised his large freind in a silver uniform. Gaius.

"Heya!" Marshall said, elbowing his freind lightly. It seemed like every one he was freind's with were at the bar.

The octopus man managed to push his way through the bustle of still functioning party, violet eyes never leaving the spot of hope, even after the sensual wriggling stopped. It was still there, veluptous and taunting in it's scantly clad costume. Once close enough, though, a tentacle reached out like a man posessed, firmly pinching the flesh in question as though to make sure it was real.

Zach groaned, lifting his horned head up. Noise assaulted his ear-holes, loud noise, rather like music. Voice, too. They culminated into a mild headache for him, which forced him to open his eyes to the party. Ginerva and Gaius had vanished into the crowd of people, or perhaps he'd only been dreaming he'd talked to 'chicken wings' and a knife-wielding cat girl. The time sleeping had sobered him up a bit, and he wasn't about to stand for that. He stretched his wings, his tail, his arms, and stood up to wander over to get another alcoholic drink to stop his moodiness before it could start. The tattered cape fluttered behind him, creased from being in the chair for so long.

What was he rushing away from? Oz felt himself walking in great big strides for whatever reason. Maybe he just wanted to distance himself from those guests who were less than normal and just head for the food, which looked normal at least.

THUD!

"Ooof!" he grunted.

He'd bumped straight into someone. A fellow in a black and white suit and sporting a very posh top hat.

"Oh god, I'm so sorry!" he apologised sincerely. The lack of good vision could be partly blamed on the mask, and partly on his daydream state of mind at the moment.

Through the accent and loud music it was hard to catch it all, but he was pretty sure he heard something along the lines of 'Sayuri'. Was that her name? It wasn't hard from there to put two and two together, so she was foreign. Interesting...and yet at the same time, completely un-helpful. Why was someone from a different nation residing here? She wasn't the first, through the night he had heard snatches of different voices...all with different tones and accents...still --"Don't depreciate yourself, Sayuri." The man gave a flick of his wand, really it had meant to be a hand motion, but in the midst of it all he had forgotten he was holding props, "Your better off than you think--"

Distractions as something came slinking up behind the talking pair. What...what…in all of gods green blazes?

Pyroth returned shakily from the bathroom looking slightly worse for wear. He said nothing of how acutely reminded he'd just been of how much a mainly canine digestive system didn't like alcohol. Still, it wasn't too surprising to him and now he felt better at least, the spring returning to his step somewhat, even deciding to do a little tail-waggy dance on his way back across the dancefloor as a song he liked came on.

He didn't try to talk to anyone first, not sure how people would react, instead he simply drifted through the crowd looking to see if there was anyone he wouldn't surprise by having a conversation.

Before Charlie could speak to Sayuri again, she felt an odd sensation on her leg. A moist, tickling sensation. At the pinch she yelped, looking down and then shrilled;
'Away! Off!,' and scooted back hard against the table.
'I not in your Lake!' she cried, as she backed away from the tentacled monster that had seemingly come out of his watery home to get her.

Two drinks downed. Gaius was feeling much more cheerful than he had earlier. Of course, he argued, dealing with Zach was a legitimate excuse to indulge a little. A third cup of something in his hand, Gaius turned towards the larger floor-space, intending to weave around the tables for his date again, when he was ambushed from behind.

"Gah ha!" he yelped, sloshing a bit of alcohol over his hand. He turned to glare, but seeing Marshall, broke into a grin. "Hey! Watch it, you nearly made me drop my drink!"

He looked over the boy and raised an eyebrow, and was about to ask him what he was dressed as when a very large and very hairy fellow came barreling into Marshall. Gaius jumped back, startled. "Woah, hey! Careful!"

As the clock strikes midnight, the music abruptly cuts off, leaving only the noises of the jungle beyond the tent and whatever noise the occupants make.

The lights of the tent dim, showcasing a string of lights that flash to life that lead off through the jungle to the North.
