I would think an all-Kroot army would lack the heavy weapons abilities needed to defeat mechanized armies or armies with big baddies. Am I wrong in this? I doubt a Krootox-mounted gun is strong enough to punch through the front armor of a Leman Russ or something similar

The only way that Merc lists can deal with armor is with Shapers and Evicerators... Which is useless against skimmers. The Kroot list is fun and all, but not very GOOD. Kinda meant to be a merc ally for existing armies, I think. EDIT: actually, they also have Krootlocs, which are pwn incarnate. Still close range though, so it has it's share of problems.

Mixing Krot merc. and Tau regulars are the best way to go. Heavy support is really good for Tau regulars XV88 Broadside 1-3 in group and Hammerhead while Kroot Merc. have Krootox. The Devilfish helps out lot when it comes to moving units.

When did the Gue'vesa get access to Devilfish? There's nothing in the entry about them being able to take transports.
