"Fine...." Faith frowned down at the empty shot glass a moment before reaching out to take his hand.

Never one for unknown places, she automatically held her breath the moment her hand touched his. The thrill of not knowing where he was taking her outweighed any other feeling that happened to be sliding through her mind.

Even with the excitment level high, there was still that bit of apprehsiveness when she wondered what sort of tests would be ran on her. Luckily, she held a high tolerance for pain, so that really wouldn't be an issue, or at least she hoped.

Kuro pulled back, away from him for a moment.

"Wait. . .Irvine, wait. Theres something that I haven't told you." She looked down and felt the tears threaten in her eyes.

It wasn't fair, this one moment of happiness would be ruined. She felt angry at herself, for letting this go this far. She trembled in his arms, before letting herself lean on him.

"Hrm...oh, that's right...you can have another shot when we're finished with the tests. Shouldn't take too long." He smiled, noticing her frown as she gazed down at the shot glass.

Both of them poofed into a large black mist cloud, slowly forming in his lab. Usually he seperated from the person he was taking with him instantly, but it took a moment before he could fully seperate his molecules from hers. "Hmmm..." a thought popped into his mind before he spoke again, "...most interesting. Please Ms. Blade...lay down on the table."

Letting out a soft squeak the moment the two of them disappeared from the bar and reappeared in what must have been his lab, Faith closed both of her eyes. She could vaguely feel the room spinning and it took her a few minutes longer until she could safely open her eyes.

"What's most interesting..?" Faith glanced to Xol with a determined gaze, staring a moment before lying down on the table, he had indicated.

"This won't hurt will it...? I have a high tolerance for pain, I just want to know what to expect.."

Bloody hell, what have I gotten myself into...? Faith thought silently to herself before calming down her pulse with a few deep breaths.

Irvine stopped and looked at her. He ran the back of his hand across her cheek in a calming sort of way. It was what his aunt had done for him whenever he was young to calm him when he cried. He held her in his arms and wiped the tears from her eyes. Then he bent his finger and placed it under her chin. He then raised her head so they were seeing eye to eye. He looked at her with his deep aluring eyes.

"What is it you haven't told me?"

"As soon as Slayer is gone, I will fade." She whispered softly. "I will follow Obake in death." She looked away.

He had to know and she had had to say it. She did not want to leave, and Obake would want her to live yet. . .

The only reason she was still alive, was because Slayer still lived. If Slayer had truly died then she should have faded to the wind. She realized that was the only reason she was still here.

She would not let Slayer live, just so she could. She would not put the lives of innocents at stake just so she could live.

"I'm sorry. . ." she whispered. "I don't want to leave you. I don't want to leave period."

Eh? Pain...no. Well maybe a slight pinprick from the needle for the blood test, but nothing worse than that." He nodded as if confirming it to himself.

"I was just thinking to myself is all...I won't really know untill I start the tests." Xol flashed a brief grin and moved out of sight, moving two large machines in front of him. He moved one to the right of the table and wheeled the other to the left. The machines had many small sensors attached to them, to which he unwraveld and placed them on key spots of her body. After a few moments, the machine flickered to life with her vital signs.

He studied the screen with her heartbeat, bloodpressure, and brain activity before moving over to the other machine.

"Needle?! Bloody hell.. I hate needles. Oh well, just warn me ahead of time and I'll close my eyes or something." Amazingly Faith's voice was extremely calm considering she was basically putting herself into his hands.

However, she couldn't stop her eyes from widening the second two machines were wheeled over to her. Blinking a little, she took deep inward breaths, trying to keep herself calm. They were just machines, at least they didn't have millions of needles surging from them, that was a plus.

"Won't know what..?" There was a rumor that curiosity killed the cat, well... she wasn't a cat but she didn't particularly want curiosity to kill her.

"Oh come now...it's only a small needle..." He said mockingly, rolling his eyes as he swabbed and inserted the needle into her right arm. "...see that wasn't so bad was it? I can give you a bandaid or a lollipop if you want after we're done." Came his sly remark before he chuckled lightly.

He watched the blood run down the tube and into the machine where it ran several diagnostic tests. "I won't know if my hunch was right untill it finishes scanning your blood now shush! Do you always ask this many questions?" Xol quirked his brow and looked down at her before returning his gaze to the diagnostic machine.

At this Irvine was surprised. His eyes widened as she spoke. He held her close as she spoke then remained silent after she finished. Irvine was deep in thought. He let his chin rest on her head. After a few minutes he spoke.

"No...there must be another way...We'll find a way for him to die and you to live...I don't want to lose you right after I've found you Kuro....

"I'd just prefer a few more shots of vodka instead of a lollypop, or if you have them, GoldFish Crackers." Faith smirked before letting out a soft whimper.

She could handle almost anything except needles. Sighing as she watched her blood running down into a tube, she couldn't help but smirk up at Xol.

"What can I say... I'm a people person. I find people intriguing."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2005 5:48 pm

"You'll have to settle on the vodka then because I don't have any...Goldfish crackers?" His brow quirked again, remembering seeing the food item in question at his last visit to the mortal side.

A beep is heard and the machine stops drawing in Faiths blood. Xol picks up a cotton ball and presses down softly on the needle and he quickly slides it out. He places a piece of medical tape over the cotton ball and lets the needle clatter to the floor.

"Just a few more moments and the results will be printed out..." He said impatiently, crossing his arms at his chest and tapping his foot on the ground.

'What?! You don't have goldfish crackers?! What an sad sad day this is." Faith grinned, glancing down as he removed the needle from her arm.

Immediately regretting it, she shifted her gaze back up, staring at the ceiling of the room, her face a little pale. Once she felt calm enough to open her eyes, she slid them open blinking at the machines once again.

"So, what exactly are you going to find out with these tests?"
PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2005 5:58 pm

Kuro winced.

"I'm sorry." She whispered. She escaped his arms and ran out the door and kept running.

Tears were streaming down her face as she disappeared an reapeard with speed. She found her way out of Xol's keep, instinct telling her where it was.

She kept running until she reached the forest.

She needed time to herself for awhile. She had left her belongings at the keep, which meant that she would return, but for now she needed time.

A gentle buzzing noise fills the large expanse of Xol's lab as a sheet of paper prints out and a small tube of blood is expelled from a small chamber. He rips the sheet off and picks up the blood, holding it to the light and examining it before looking at the sheet of paper.

"No...that can't be. It's...it's impossible. There's no way, he said there was no more!!" He growled, a low throaty growl as he crumpled up the paper and tossed it across the room.
