XxfushigipinayxX @Takiko: Wait, wait...You know how they put that Japanese/Chinese table at the beginning of each volume right? Viz just uses the Chinese translations a lot. They have it down as "Shi-Hang Lian" but they also put the Japanese translation "Shigyo Ren." So it's win-win, no worries ^^ This may sound harsh, but I think Viz's translators are retarded. What's the point in using the Chinese names when the manga was originally written in Japanese?! And to make things worse, most of the names are already Japanese, so they're just messing up everything. I really, really see no point in the sudden change. It's amazing, but Viz just keep sounding dumber and dumber to me.

It's dangerous?! Why? Did Viz get hitmen to attack anyone that insults their company?! Or... or... did the CIA start defending Viz? ...Okay, ignore me. I'm in a really weird mood. Somewhere between pissed off and ultra-giddy.

This is a great example of an old form of Japanese that was used when Chinese was the primary written form of communication. The city names are Chinese with Japanese pronunciations. So, technically it's both. Though, I think Viz should've started using the Chinese names to begin with if they were going too, I hate inconsistancy. That is my major problem with Viz, they are always inconsistant. Like the term "tennyo" in Ayashi no Ceres, I mean they couldn't make up their mind what translation they wanted to give it. All the more reason I'm grateful I can read Japanese. There's just so much more to be gained from being able to read the language directly than you can ever get from a translation.

Their current amount of time between releases should be more than enough time to get out a perfectly thorough and accurate translation. The only problem is the personality of the translator, and if they really invest their true talents in translating. And Viz has a knack for getting the translators that just like to BS stuff assuming their audience is completely ignorant regarding Japanese. And on the whole, they would be right. Though, I think that is no excuse for producing less than satisfactory work.
