Harland refused to swap hands. Searching with the hand in his gauntlet while holding on to Alistaire was the only way to ensure that if he came across something nasty on the dark floor, he was prepared. And out of harm's way.

He wanted to make a retort at her about how useless she was or how the people in her love life dealt with her but after her nearly screaming her face off? Jude just quietly lifted her up, "C'mon, I'm not letting anything happen to you if I can help it. People'd probably come kick my a** no matter how buddy-buddy we are," he sighed.
Jude straightened up and realized he was still in the dark, "Ehmmm...Want me to see if I can find a flashlight or something, Mae?"
Or they could just cower in darkness until it ended or they got eaten. That was cool, too.

Waiting for a sweeping light seemed to work. Harland tuned out the awful chaos around him.

Noemi didn't even get an answer from Tuck before he was dragged away and she couldn't do anything for him. A small cry of panic, as Evan rushed by and she kept her flashlight solely focused on the pair. Just in case Evan needed to see Tuck.

For the third time, it had skittered out. Harland, in frustration, took a new tactic: instead of reaching to grab, he swept small objects towards him with his Coyote-clad arm.

"Doesn't your job revolve around saving your own a**?" Evan snapped back. "How about you don't do your job and try not to get killed." More for Stormy's sake than his, of course; for whatever reason, Stormy liked him. He cursed as he saw a light bob and then waver across the room, horror dawning right alongside rage as he saw Tuck get attacked. "Stay here," he barked again, his weapon summoned in the space between quick heartbeats as he shoved his way across to the other side of the room. Noemi's help gave him all the light that he needed to see the thing dragging Tuck off. As soon as he was within range, he sank Gir's teeth into its shoulder and yanked it back, trying to pull it away.

Ami very slowly reached down and plucked a flashlight with finesse. There was no scrambling, no frantic behavior from her. Just a casual click! as she turned on the flashlight and shone it around.
"Incredible how a shift in light causes pandemonium," she said. But even her breath was slightly more hitched than usual. Perhaps Ami was afraid of the dark?

This was all way too overwhelming for the Mist Hunter. Her eyes darted back and forth keeping an eye on what she could see from the few people that got a hold of flashlights and what she was seeing was even more overwhelming. She could hear her friends voice's call back out to her. Zascha's much closer than Nellie's. "Nellie we're over here!"
As she tried to listen for Nellie once again she didn't even notice that Zascha had picked up a flashlight. As he spotted it on her she winced, the light was pretty intense even though she was still just getting used to the dark around her. That wasn't as much of a problem as when Zascha grabbed her arm. Her first reaction was to turn, clench her fists and swing.

Cee's stomach dropped when the lights did. When Noemi grabbed a flashlight, she reached too but found ********... Girl.. s**t.." She grasped desperately for Noemi's coat until she'd balled her fist into the fabric. When the flashlight leapt, she followed it. He other hand grasped to Milo, not letting him stray either. "Stay tagether you guys.." Her voice had a rare tremble. nyxtsuki moon drag her along in case i fall asleep

Harland handed the flashlight he had found to Alistaire, without turning it on.
He found nothing. At first.
"I'm thinkin' a way out might be better 'n a flashlight at this moment," Harland muttered to Alistaire.
A flashlight had rolled into his hand while he was still. "If there's an emergency, we'll use it," he suggested. "If there's even more of an emergency, remember that tornado thing I mentioned? We're goin' t' use it," Harland said, his face grim in the dark. He watched the searching beams, trying to use his broad frame to shield Alistaire from whatever it was that was out there.
So long as Alistaire didn't let go, and Coyote was ready.

"Oof!" Apparently, having his hand out didn't protect him from actually walking into something. He shook his head in the darkness and tried to situate himself, now no longer trying to find the hand that had initially found his. Whatever he had walked into was pretty solid, but...strangely pliable. It made a whirring noise, which was odd to him.
Ripley pondered what to do for a moment, and then began patting down the thing he walked into, trying to figure out what it was, or if he could actually do something with it.
