He blinked at the unexpected question. "Ummm... I... Well, Tsuki and I were talking about that the other day... I... I've never met a demon," he said softly. "Or, at least, I don't remember them. But... I beleive angels and demons are no different... They both have emotions... Almost like humans, but with powers... And maybe humans are just their children." He shrugged. "I really don't know what I beleive any more..."

A waitress was spotted and he waved her down, motioning to his coffee cup. She gave a small nod of understanding, finishing up what she was doing before coming over to refill his cup. After she left, he added some sugar and took a sip. It was still a little too hot.. "So then you believe there is a grey shade between the light and dark..?" He asked casually, stirring his coffee with a spoon.

"I suppose... But I don't beleive that angels are really... angelic. Couldn't they be just as sinful as anyone else? If you can call it sin to live... What does sin mean? Is it a sin to fall in love and to be loved in return?" He sighed. "Religion is complicated... They teach you to love everyone and everything and then they themselves prosecute others or are prosecuted...." Izumi didn't like to get mixed up religions. There was always something... sticky about it.

The term 'hit the nail on the head' fleeted briefly over the fallen angel's mind. He'd just recently started to more deeply wonder about that one himself. Mismatched eyes watched Izumi over the rim of his coffee cup. "Angels are angelic. An angel that sins becomes fallen. Demons are capable of both good and evil, just as angels, but the drive to do bad is stronger then that to do good. It doesn't mean that there haven't been.." He looked at Tsuki for a moment, "situations that were outside of those general laws, but it is uncommon.."

Izumi looked questioningly between the two and then decided not to comment. "Well... I suppose it's because I read this book once and it said, about angels, that if you wanted to know their nature, it is 'spirit.' If you wanted to know their post, it is 'angel.' Let's see... I think the exact quote is, 'From what we do, matter, from what we are, angel. Matter and spirit are one.' Or something like that..." ((That's an actual quote. =o It's from "The Subtle Knife" by Phillup Pulman.))

Tsuki smiled at the younger boy. "You have a very good point, there." he said with a knowing smile "Maybe you should lend me that book of yours, it sounds interesting." he looked across at Ryan and smiled apologetically.

A brow rose at Tsuki's question, but he said nothing in reply, keeping to himself and his coffee. At least something had been brought up about it all. He smirked inwardly. If Tsuki was too hesitant to probe, Ryan had no problem with it. The question was where the line of too much interference laid.. Izumi wasn't the fallen one's business. But, Tsuki was..

Tsuki smiled as his young protge. "I'm glad you think that way. There is no good without evil, one cannot exist without the other and one is not complete without them both. I only hope that you hold no resentment to angels, or to demons. although you have every right to. I can only imagine what you have been put through in your life." he said edging closer to the question than he had ever dared before.

He looked slightly surprised. "I... can't hold a grudge against a whole group..." he said softly. "I suppose, technically, I could... but it wouldn't anyone any good..." He could never hold anything against his parents... but that angel.... She had willingly sold him... He had often wondered what would have happened if Saria, "The Shiner" as she was called, had not sold him. If his parents had not fought in the war, but kept him close.

The awkwardness of the conversation was oddly interesting to watch.. Ryan really wondered if Tsuki was going to get far with it. Izumi seemed almost frightened to talk about the subject. He contented himself with his coffee, watching out the window as he listened. May as well not get involved really.. It wasn't his place.

Tsuki smiled and took another sip of his tea. "You've been raised on earth all your life is that correct? It makes nbo difference really, no world is without its problems, even heaven."

"My whole life," he said. "Otherwise, there probably would have been some trouble with me... I doubt I would have been wanted in Heaven or Hell."

Tsuki frowned, "You are probably right. Although an angel with demonic powers would be a powerful weapon in their eyes. There's no doubt that you would have been ostracised in Heaven but there's no harm in speculating that the higher Orders have kept you alive for a reason."

He shrugged. "Well, I'll probably never find oput the truth, so what the sense in dwelling in what I can't possibly hope to find out? More useful to try and puzzle out my present..."

Ryan's eyes drifted from staring absently out the window back to the two at the last two comments exchanged. He rose his coffee to his lips, took a drink, and set it down, mismatched eyes falling to Izumi. "Your future depends greatly on how your past has affected you. Whether you like it or not, you have a.. vibe.. that attracts the dark." He looked back out the window. It was getting to be afternoon now. "If you don't embrace what you are, you'll lose it to them." He said after a moment, settling back against the cushioned seat.
