The flap of Andarien's tent opened almost as soon as Lin called out to them, and Eon and Zeus darted out ahead of Andarien. For once, the boy was fully dressed and groomed before being called, and when he left the tent he made sure to pull his goggles over his face.
"Wow, Mi," he grinned at his sister when he saw her. "Now you're really taller than Nana!"
He turned to Lin. "I'll help get Ada's stuff," he agreed. "Ada can't get it himself, right?"

This was true, Miyuki had been the closest to Lin's height since her last growth and that extra inch or two had made her clearly taller than Lin. Which made Lin wonder, two more growths from now, how tall was Miyuki going to be?
"I'll go too!" Miyuki added, breaking into Lin's thoughts, "Is ada awake?" "No, he's still sleeping actually," Lin admitted.
Considering everyone was up and about, he was amazing he was still sleeping at all. Which made Lin wonder how much sleep did Earendil get while being captured? She knew elves could stay awake for days, but would have to make up for every day of sleep straight once asleep.
Lin frowned, "I never asked your father if he stayed up during his time in captivity... he actually might not wake up for a while."
Miyuki tilted her head, "What do you mean?"
"Elves who stay up for days, have to sleep for every day they stay up. So, he might be sleeping for a long while...." Lin admitted.
She wondered if this should be mentioned to Kyrie, Lancerial or Cael at all...

Andarien was confused. "Wasn't he sleeping when we found him?" he asked, tilting his head slightly. "And isn't sleep good for him if he's recovering?"
He assumed that they would be going to get their father's things regardless, so he headed towards the door while he asked his questions.

"He was..." Lin thought about it and then nodded, "You're right, if he was already sleeping, then he should be fine."
She led them back to the bedroom and explained to Andarien quietly.
"Sleep is good, but Kyrie wanted us to call for her, Cael and Lancerial when he wakes up. If he sleeps for several days straight that could be a long time..."
She paused and looked down at herself and then at her children.
Miyuki giggled, "Andarien and I will go get ada's things, you stay with ada in case he wakes up since you're not fully dressed yet."
"Thanks for that," Lin told her daughter with equal amusement, "I'm not thinking this morning."

Andarien wasn't sure what was funny enough to make both his mother and his sister giggle, but he accepted what Lin said without hesitation.
"Then we'll see you in a bit, I guess," he said as he opened the door.
Maravel was still there and waiting for Lin's reply to his question, and he smiled and bowed his head to Andarien when he saw him. "And is anyone else going to be joining us?" he asked the teen with a warm smile.
Andarien nodded and smiled back. "Yeah, Miyuki's going to come too." He turned back to look into the room again. "Coming, Mi?"

"I'm coming," Miyuki replied as she stepped out, "Mom is going to stay behind in case ada wakes up."
She told this to Maravel, since she figured their mother originally wanted to out.

Maravel bowed his head in understanding. "Very well. This way, then. It is a very simple palace to navigate, but unless you know where things are it is still easy to find the wrong rooms."
"But still not get lost, huh?" Andarien asked, looking around.
Maravel smiled and motioned for the two to follow him down the hall. "The palace is like a three-pronged fork, and is but two floors. There are staircases in the two corners. Simple enough."

That did sound simple enough to Miyuki, the only problem was, was remembering what was behind each door.
"Which floor are we on?" she asked.

Maravel smiled at her. "The second," he answered her. He assumed that she had been tired and stressed the afternoon before when they'd come up the stairs from her father's cell - then again, there were many more floors below ground than above. "It is the uppermost. Unfortunately, in the past two centuries, the underground part of the palace is what grew. As the prisons filled and overflowed, the General sought new places to put his prisoners."
He took the down the hall and to the right, towards one of the corner staircases.

"What will happen to that part of the palace now do you think?" MIyuki asked.
They weren't necessary but something underground was far harder to destroy. Perhaps they would knock out walls and use the place to store goods in case of a bad season? That was always an idea.

"I don't know," Maravel admitted as they headed down to the main level. "I suppose that is up to Princess Mari. I would imagine that for a short time at least, that is where the men loyal to the General will be kept, but once they are no longer a threat ..."
He shrugged. Who was he to say?

Miyuki nodded at this before falling silent, it was a bit of a sad topic of conversation.
"Where is everyone else staying?" she finally asked.
Since it occurred to her that she, and Andarien hadn't seen anyone from their group (minus Kyrie) since finding their father.

Maravel looked up at the ceiling as they left the stairs and headed down a long hallway.
"Most everyone is, for the moment, staying in the same wing as you," he replied. "Prince Cael and his wife are of course in Prince Cael's rooms ..." He shook his head incredulously. "His wife. It is still so strange to me."
Then he cleared his throat and continued. "Princess Mari has returned to her former chambers, which have been empty since the coup. This is temporary, though - once the General's things have been moved out of the sovereign's chambers, she will be installing herself in there, I should imagine. Princess Wren has the chambers next to yours. Arphenion and Dae'er are one beyond that, and their children each have their own chambers in the same hall."
He coughed slightly. "I should perhaps say, the rest of their children. Of course Prince Cael is also theirs. And Mathias and Chesnet have the former princes' chambers, at Princess Mari's insistence."
He led them to a large wooden door with iron slats. He paused them there and reached into his tunic front to pull out a key, which he used to unlock the door; and then, returning the key to his tunic, he pushed the door open with his shoulder.
"Watch the smell," he cautioned them. "It's rather musty in here. Two centuries' worth of stolen belongings are in here."

Miyuki's nose twitched as the musty air wafted through the door. It certainly wasn't pleasant she thought to herself. The smell wasn't utterly horrible, but it did make her eyes water just a bit, and she doubted she could stay in here for long.

Andarien coughed slightly as they entered the room, and he was glad that he was wearing his goggles. His eyes were protected that way. He was also glad his Pokemon hadn't come with them, Zeus especially: if Zeus smelled this and started sneezing, there was no telling what kind of damage his electricity would do.
"Thankfully his things have not been in here long, only four days," Maravel murmured as he led the way into the room.
The room was massive, possibly the size of an entire wing of the castle, and it was just about filled with items: weapons, clothing, sacks, musical instruments, books, tools, and more. The items were stacked one upon the other on the floor, on shelves, on tables, some of the stacks teetering perilously.
"Where is Ada's stuff?" Andarien asked, covering his nose and mouth with one hand.
"Just here," the sage replied, pointing off to one side of the room. "Come, I'll hand it to you." He motioned for the children to follow him.
