What could he say to something like that? "i hope so too," Momo said softly, "for your sake." he glanced around the room as Hal got dressed, thinking about how different things were here and how much he would miss having a private space like this. did he really want to go back to sleeping out in the open, keeping an eye out for predators? it wasn't too bad before because Hal would just watch, but with Hal having to sleep as well, things would be different. he sighed, this not being the first time he'd thought that, but all the same, he knew he was still going to leave. they would just have to sleep in shifts. "we'll be ok, Hal. we've got each other, i promise i won't go dying on you." he smiled, his hand resting on his stomach, "i've survived so far. what else can happen to me?"

Momo ran a hand over his hair and glanced away. he'd been neglecting it lately. he hadn't bothered to brush it in a while, just putting it in a messy bun and ignoring it. he hadn't wanted to deal with it. "help me?" he asked softly, as he stepped away to get his brush. he knew if he neglected it for much longer, Hal would just cut it off and he liked his hair. he just-didn't have the energy for it right now. he walked back and handed it over to Hal before sitting down in front of the bed. "i bet it's been driving you crazy."

Momo closed his eyes, "if you had, i would have cried." he knew that would have hurt Hal more than anything, knowing he'd done something that made Momo cry. he closed his eyes as Hal got to work, knowing this was going to be a while. "sorry-" he finally said, "i know it's annoying. i should have been doing this daily, i just-" he hadn't had it in him to care about how he looked. he'd bathed, but that was only because Hal would have killed him if he hadn't.

Momo chuckled as he slowly brought his knees up to his chest. he was still a bit sore, so this position still hurt a bit, but it was more of a strain that pain, "i knew if i didn't do that much you'd pin me down and wash me yourself." he wasn't ready to be naked in front of anyone right now, especially Hal. he didn't want to let the man see what he'd become, how dirty and ugly he'd become while knowing what he had been before. "maybe we should just keep it in a braid from now on. it won't get as messy like that."

Momo nodded, "you're right. i used to hate getting my hair brushed, even though it was short then," he smiled to himself, "i really gave you a hard time, raising me. sorry, Hal. it can't have been easy sticking with me all these years, and yet, you did." he glanced back at Hal, "thank you. i haven't said it enough, so thank you."

Momo flinched a little at the kiss, it was automatic and he instantly felt guilty for it. "it feels really nice, thank you. you forget how good it feels to have a brush go through your hair, even if it's only been a little while." he turned and hoped that the change of subject would help cover his reaction. "want me to braid it? you get it tighter, but you just spent a lot of time working on my hair."

Momo turned back and waited for Hal to finish his hair. "thank you." he saw that Hal had used his own ribbon and quickly checked to make sure that he didn't have a bow at the end of his hair. his stomach sunk as he saw it sitting there all pretty and girly. "thanks-" he muttered, pushing himself up. "i bet that's a relief to you, having my hair done properly. how long has it been bugging you?"
