Devon saw this and cursed. She needed something to help. Gently he raised her up and slid behind her. His extra warmth should help, even as he tucked the covers around her. Opening the thermos he propped her up. "Lark, I need you to drink this good broth. It will help." he murmur, not at all sure that she heard. But she needed some kind of medicine and they when through the one given to her before. He raised a cup full to her lips.
Kaleb waved his hand. "Yeah, Yeah." he murmured, leaving to get them.

Lark's mouth opened but as the hot brew slowly slid down her throat she did not shallow it because she was still out of it shivering now cold even though she was wrapped in blankets she groaned in pain but thankfully didn't struggle in this state

Devon was glad it was going down. He was careful to make she she didn't choke, but her body was smart enough to take care of that without her thinking about it. He made sure she consumed all of it before setting it aside.
Kaleb returned with the bagged in hand. "Should we check on him? It's been very silent up there." he said neutrally. However inwardly he was nervous. He wasn't to keen on actually making the girl sicker.

Theresa sighed waiting for him by the stairs having already picked out he room in which the would be staying. "It's silent because the girl has had a relapse and is unable to respond to Devon anymore but don't worry as long as that brew is in her there's hope all you need to worry about is unpacking those bags and if she is sicker than before then you can drive her to the ER." Lark's body went limp in Devon's arms and she was breathing lightly with so far no change in he condition

Kaleb felt guilty wash threw him. He had mean to scare the girl and test her metal. He hadn't really meant to harm. His smooth face barely even showed a twitch of that feeling though. A habit from too many years of never showing weakness, But he knew he couldn't hide it from Theresa. "I'll go unpack then." was all he said. There was nothing else to say. With squared shoulder he headed off to the guest bedroom.
Devon stayed with Lark, talking only briefly when his parent checked in. He would stay until the fever broke. Or until his jobs dragged him away.

"Good." was all she said because his guilt spoke volumes about how he felt right now so there was no point in dragging him through the coals right now. Lark was asleep for a few more hours after the brew was giving to her her fever was still present but she managed to wake up in the middle of the night for a bit "Devon?"

Devon looked down at lark as he called her name. He was still sitting with her, hoping her fever would break. "I'm here." he assured her. He'd been awake and watchful.

"What happened does your father still hate me or what." she said which was followed by a cough she turned to face him so she can try to see him in the dark

Devon sighed. "Of all the things you could ask." he chuckled. "No. He doesn't hate you. It was a misunderstand that was solved. He wants to talk with you like a normal person." he answered her. "But not til you're better."

"What's so funny why wouldn't I ask about that? It wasn't you he was looking at like a meal." Lark said weakly trying to sit up up that only made her head spin and she was having a hard time seeing in the dark she wondered how Devon could or even if he could at or if he was just as blind as her she doubted it though."Devon could you move closer it hard to see you."

Devon shrugged. "Because you made it sound as if you were at fault." he said. He leaned away instead of closer. "Hold on I have a better idea." Shielding her nearly blind eyes, he turned on a lamp and squinted. "There." It only took a minute for his eyes to adjust.

Lark shut her eyes against the light and it was making the room spin more but she wouldn't say so because Devon already looked bad enough like he hadn't slept at all and he looked extremely worried. "Wasn't it my fault I mean why would he be that mad?" Lark asked weakly. "Devon is something wrong are you sick?"

Devon shook his head. "No. But you are. And my father is a perfectionist who sometime he knows what's better for me then I do." he answered both questions dryly. "He disapproves, but he doesn't hate you. He was testing you." he explained, then rolled his eyes. "Stubborn old man." he grumbled. He still wasn't ready to forgive him for that.

"Did I pass or fall? Does that mean he'll growl at me every time he sees me or what?" Lark asked behind a cough and her tone was that of puzzlement. "But how is me begin sick affecting you this much I mean you look really tired you should get some sleep."

"I'd say you passed." he said with a shrug. "And no, he will not growl at you if Mom and I can help it." He looked at her steadily as she asked the last question. "I'm up because I love you and what to make sure you get better, not worse." he stated seriously.
