"Pretty...darn fitting." Mike said with a weak, self-deprecating laugh as he looked at the Pokemon in his hands. The fact that it was a different color was pretty cool, but since this was the first Litwick he'd ever seen, it was all the other ones that he would see that would look weird, not his. It was only after Keegan's Pokedex had told him of the nature of a Litwick's flame that Mike noticed that Pumpkin's was lit. The boy narrowed his eyes at the little Pokemon. "We will have none of that." he said in a low voice that made the hatchling's eyes grow wide. Seconds later, the flame was snuffed out. "Good!" Mike said with a smile, putting the Pokemon on the bed and patting him on the head.

Mike chortled at Flannery's trademark scolding. He'd been on the receiving end of that many more times than once. To this day, he still cannot say the word 'dresser' around her without getting a death glare from him. "My mom can't really talk." Mike said with a shrug after she had left the room. "Compared to busting her crazy son out of an asylum, dropping a pumpkin bomb in a hospital toilet is pretty standard." The weight of what he just said caused his head to hang slightly, Kasiya's question of 'what happens now' aligning perfectly with what was going on in his head. "Hey, remember that time I was in a straight jacket?" he said to his bed sheets, trying to smile his obvious anxiety away. "I wonder if that'll be my happy ending." his voice trailed off as he remembered his stay in Saffron. Though it was only for a few hours, the fact that being thrown in a high-security mental facility for the rest of his life was an actual possibility made the boy's heart sink.

You could try to explain to them that you've changed. a ghost offered.

"Yeah, but what good would that do? No one would believe me. I'd have to escape again." Mike replied, his smile fading as he imagined how many people he hurt in his previous escape. Innocent people who were just trying to help people like him. "I don't want the only way for me to be able to be free is to just hurt everyone that gets in my way. That's not what I want. That's never what I wanted. But that's..." He let out the curt beginning of a soft laugh. "That's what I seem to be best at, isn't it?" Mike shook his head, his fate amusing him greatly. After a short laugh, he came crashing down again, burying his face in his hands. No more waiting. He needed to get past this. "Flannery, could I have a moment alone with you please?" his shoulder slumped. "And Kasiya, could you please look after Pumpkin for me?" he added, still not revealing his face.

There was a suffocating silence after both her and Keegan left. The kind where no matter what you wanted to say, it would come out strange and not what you had thought in your head. Even the ghosts disappeared into the floor to give the two some space. Mike refused to remove his face from his hands, a muffled noise coming from him as tears, regular tears began to roll down his cheek, causing small wisps of white smoke to rise from his face. From behind his hands, Mike opened his mouth, but paused, absolutely terrified of what the answer to the question he was about to ask could be.

"Flannery," he said weakly. "Do you hate me?"

I wish all Pokemon were that easy to capture, Kasiya thought with a giggle as she picked up the Luxury Ball. To be honest, she wasn't sure what she'd planned to try and capture in it, but her Minccino had decided to make it her home, so it wasn't like she was unhappy with this development. "I've decided to call you Pepper," she added, smiling at the shiny sphere before clicking it to place on her belt. She was sure it wriggled a little in response and she smiled, now bending down and collecting the items she'd dropped. She was in the process of examining her HM Surf for damage when she saw Crenu use a Great Ball to 'capture' his Elgyem and add it to the other spheres on his belt before he headed outside of the Pokemon Center. Kasiya wasn't sure, but he looked a bit shifty to her, so naturally the only thing to do was follow him.

Stealth mode, activate! she thought as she crept out of the center after him, sticking to the walls like glue and doing her best to remain out of sight. Of course, she was about as inconspicuous as a Tauros in a China shop but nevertheless she followed Crenu around the Center and to the back. She was certain that he was going to release his little Elgyem and start training, and she was considering offering to train with him when she saw him release the cranky Ariados she'd seen at the Beach Party. Only this time, the spider looked a lot less cranky and a lot more dejected, and as Crenu started to speak, Kasiya's heart started to pound. Clearly he was unhappy with the Bug-type, and Ariados knew it. Though Kasiya was sure he had his reasons, it was painful to see the once proud spider looking so sad so she made herself visible (though it wasn't like she wasn't before), and placed her hand on her hip. "Hey, what are you doing?" she said, walking right up to them, about as fearless as can be. "Are you going to release Ariados?"

"Right, TMs would be a good idea to check out," he agreed, thinking of the winnings he'd earned from his match with Roark. If they were facing a Grass-type gym, Bibarel would be at a disadvantage, but with her spirit, he wasn't willing to count her out so easily. But could she learn any moves that would be advantageous against Grass-types? He wasn't sure, but he silently wished that the Beaver Pokemon would spontaneously master Fire Punch or Flamethrower. Magnemite, well, aside from being resistant to Grass-type moves would be interesting to see in action, at the very least, and Grotle, while tough, also wasn't an ideal match up. Sigilyph, on the other hand, was part Flying-type, but it had only just been born so Jake wasn't sure it could handle a gym battle just yet. "We also don't have to go charging right to the gym. We could always take a few days for prep," he suggested. After all, he'd been relatively lucky with his first gym match as both his Pokemon had strong advantages over Rock-types (especially after Bibarel's surprise evolution into the dual Normal/Water-type).

By now they'd reached the ominous-looking entrance to the Eterna Forest, and Jake's thoughts about type match-ups quickly faded, giving way to more pressing matters, like just how they were going to make it through this impressive and intimidating forest. Sigilyph had floated over to his side, and Jake felt a sense of calm drift through him. If the Avianoid Pokemon wasn't afraid, well, he wouldn't be, either. "Oh, just in case," he said, quickly removing an empty Pokeball from his pocket, and clicked it once to fully enlarge it. He opened his mouth to explain to the Psychic-type but Sigilyph was way ahead of him, nodding dutifully before reaching out with the tip of one of his wing-like appendages and activating the sphere. The creature was pulled inside with a flash of bright, red light and it chimed almost immediately. Jake smiled and let Sigilyph back out almost right away, and he looked to Jade as she quietly spoke up. It was uncanny how she always seemed to give him tiny little insights into what was going on in her head, and then quickly attempt to cover it up by being all tough or sarcastic. Normally he responded with sarcasm or a joke of his own, but nothing of the sort came to his mind so all he did was offer a genuine smile, and quickly meet her eyes as they crossed the threshold and into the eerily dark forest. "Never."

"You were pretty lucky, dearie," the nurse said as she finished wrapping a clean bandage around Karrigan's palm. "Those Beedrill can be pretty nasty, and you're doubly lucky that you didn't get poisoned. Now, as long as you take care of it, you should be just fine. Just be sure to change the bandages every so often and give it some air at night." Karrigan accepted the bandages and thanked the nurse, taking a moment to tuck them safely into her backpack. Naga, meanwhile, watched the other human quietly before she jumped up and tried to smack the nurse with her dangling mucous. However, much to Naga's disappointment, the nurse just laughed and shook her head. "I'm a nurse, darling. It takes much more than that to gross me out."

"Naga," Karrigan sighed, scooping up the Cubchoo. "I'm terribly sorry about that. She's just a baby."

"No worries, dear. Like I said, I'm a nurse, and I've seen almost everything by now. You should get back to your friends, I'm sure they're waiting for you."

Karrigan just nodded meekly, too nervous to say that only one of the others was her friend. She gave her thanks and hurried out to the lobby to find that her three Pokemon were healed and waiting for her. The group had scattered, as she only saw Riza and Amy, but they appeared to be talking so she hung back and instead clipped her Pokeballs back onto her belt to wait.

Kressen smiled as he took out a pokeball and held it out to Odin, who stared at it. "I hear ya'll. Nothing like making new friends and getting eggs from out of nowhere." Odin tapped his head against the ball and the beam of red light sucked him into it. "Good job Odin! A moment later Odin popped back out then headbutted the ball again going back in. He kept repeating the process obviously having fun.

Shaking his head chuckling Kressen spoke gently, but firmly to his new pokemon."In or out buddy, you gotta chose one or the other." Odin scratched his head then headbutted the ball again and stayed this time. "I wanna go to the Forest too. I wanted to catch another pokemon, before I went to Pallet Town to get my Pokedex from Professor Oak.

He didn't know what pokemon he wanted to find in the forest just yet, but he'd know it when he saw it. "What about you Alex where you going to head to next?"

"Haxorus, huh?" Keegan murmured, finding the appropriate pages in his own PokeDex in order to study the Axew's evolved forms. The next stage was a Pokemon called Fraxure, and the final form, Haxorus, was even more impressive. "That's pretty bad-a**." He was talking mostly to himself, and he couldn't help but wonder how much different from the images in the 'Dex the Axew would be once he evolved, since his colouring was different. The Dragon had crawled down his arm and was looking rather interested in his next forms and he clapped his hands, causing himself to lose his balance and he fell with a thud to the ground and began to wail. Keegan rolled his eyes and bent down to pick up the crying baby dragon, and it wasn't long before it had nestled into the crook of his arm and had fallen fast asleep. "You don't look like much now, Small Fry, but someday..." He smiled, catching Kasiya's gaze from the corner of his eye and he felt his heart flutter. "I'm going to call you Hades."

The blonde had brought up a very valid point, however, and he looked over at Mike as he fished an empty Pokeball out of his pocket. Instead of the normal red and white sphere, he found himself holding the mostly white Premier Ball, accented with a thin, red stripe. "Eh, this'll do," he muttered and bonked it against Hades' forehead. The Axew was caught without so much as a struggle and he slipped it into his pocket, making a mental note to switch his party around later. After all, not all of the people in this room were currently operating on suspended trainer's licenses. The redhead shot a rueful look in his friend's direction, also wondering what would happen to him now. After everything that had happened, returning to the normal life of a trainer - catching and training Pokemon and earning gym badges - seemed so trivial. So normal. How could they all do normal after fighting bad guys and invading supposedly secret bases and bringing down mob bosses?

He looked over at Mike as he requested a moment alone with Flannery, and he nodded, even though the questions hadn't been directed at him specifically. He turned and began to make his way out into the hall, waiting for Kasiya to join him. He noticed almost immediately that the hospital cleaning staff had arrived on the scene, as well as the telltale uniforms of the security guards. "Uh, let's go this way," he said quickly, grabbing the blonde's arm and leading her in the opposite direction where the rest of their friends were waiting. He didn't really feel like facing the others, even with Kasiya at his side, and he reasoned that this would likely be his best chance to speak with her alone before they all broke off and went their separate ways. He found a small room that looked like it was used to store extra bedding and hospital gowns and he ushered the girl inside before he closed the door behind them. "So, uh," he began, pushing the wet hair from his face so he could see her clearly. He couldn't explain it, but standing here alone with her felt different than it normally would. His heart was pounding deafeningly in his ears again and he was starting to feel anxious. "Hi."
=====
It took the two young trainers nearly two hours to navigate their way through the city and find the exit that lead them to Route 38. Granted, they had taken their time as they walked, opting to be a little more touristy as they took in the sites and beautiful scenery of Ecruteak City. They visited the Kimono Dance Theater and Miharu recounted the time she'd battled each of the sisters, all using the various evolved forms of Eevee before she'd been gifted with an HM for Surf. She also pointed out the gym and told Leroy all about her match with Morty. Lastly, they visited both the Burned and Bell Towers, paying homage to the Pokemon of legend before they made their way out onto the route again, though they had bought some lunch from a food cart and were enjoying a mobile meal as they reached the outskirts of Ecruteak.

Lee had listened with rapt attention to everything the green-haired girl had said, wishing he had known her sooner so that he could have watched her battle the Kimono Girls and Morty the Gym Leader, as he wagered they would have been great matches to see. He shook his head when he realized where his train of thought was heading and he steeled himself, forcing himself to focus on the task at hand. He couldn't afford to turn soft now, though no matter how hard he tried, he could not quell the guilt that had started to build up in the pit of his stomach.

Ariados had her head down low, legs spread out her body as low to the ground as possible. She couldn't look at Crenu directly, everything he was saying was true. She had failed him. But when he to.ished his thought, she looked up hissing in desperate protest. She wasn't totally done, she could do better she promised! But Crenu's gaze did't waver, if a spider could cry she was about to, but they were interupted by that blond girl! "...So that was you 'sneaking' about." He said without looking away from Ariados. Arms crossed he never broke eye contact with the long leg pokemon. "...No. Not exactly. Abandoning pokemon is a poor way to go about dealing with unwanted tools. It messes with the current wild population of the area it was released in and can cause a resentful pokemon that may become a nuisance to other trainers. The Eco system is greatly influenced by every action, the flaw of human beings is that they are too stupid to consider their every footstep. Don't take offense to that though, almost everyone is stupid its unfortunately normal." It was at this moment that he finally turned around to face her, his expression colder and somewhat angrier than usual. "But I am going to get rid of her. Ariados is no longer useful to me, I caught her when I needed a second pokemon, I'd have caught anything at that point. I'll donate her, trade her, gift her, find a breeder that wants her. Or if I find a place for her where the impact would be negligible then I will abandon her there. Until said time she will be boxed though. She isn't my pokemon anymore. That's that." Ariados felt something in her tear down, and she tried to protect scurrying up to Crenu to try and get him to reconsider. She wanted him to accept her again, but without looking he tossed his arm behind him and recalled her back into her ball walking past Kasi as he started back for the center.

[Magma Time Line]

Giving the two ladies a very lackadaisical wave, he felt a small shake beneath his feet followed by a very loud explosion coming from down the hallway. "H-hey what?!" Kilik immediately took Cable's Pokeball from his belt and took off running, skidding to a halt when he saw cascades of water pouring out of the bathroom and a very orange covered Keegan walking into one of the patients rooms, which he assumed to be Mike's. Another peculiar thing about the whole moment was the strange little brown thing that Keegan was holding under his arm as he went into the room. Kilik's eyes widened a little as he heard voices coming from the room, one of which was most definitely Mikes, characterized by a very half-crazed, suddenly weak laugh. "Sasha! Winona!" He ran back to the waiting room and motioned for them to follow him. "I think he's awake!"

Kilik made his way into the room, roughly the same time that Keegan was pulling Kasiya out. With a light nod to the two of them, he paused in the doorway as he noticed it was just Mike and Flannery in the room now. He put his hands up as he backed away, hoping they hadn't noticed, putting his hands out in front of him to Sasha and Winona. "Well, while he's awake," he whispered, "I think he's going for some alone time with Flannery...we'll check back in a little bit." He looked over his shoulder at the half open door and then sighed a bit. Back to the waiting room.

-*-
[Time Skip]

"Huh," was all Kilik could muster after hearing the PokeDex chime about the two new Pokemon. Klink, it was called. Part of him wondered what omnipotent being gave names to Pokemon, as it was rather unimaginative he had to admit. Scratching the back of his head, he glanced over at Katie and her Solosis. While very cute, knowing that it was a Psychic-type made Kilik's stomach turn. It brought back awful memories, and he was never particularly fond of the type in the first place. Clearing his throat, he nodded in agreement to the girl's proposal.

"Definitely. I think we've spent plenty of time here in this neck of the woods. Oreburgh awaits!" he laughed, clenching his fist happily. Making sure that he had all of his belongings, and that all of his Pokemon were tucked away on his belt, Kilik began heading east once more. He felt Flareon jump onto his shoulder, the fox looking over at Katie then back to in front of him.

Cable followed behind the two trainers, acting more of a bodyguard against all threats that could come up from behind. Whether it be trainers wanting to battle, Team Rocket, or even a flock of angry Starly, Cable was there to protect and serve. And with Kord on his head, there was nothing that could stand in the way of the two Electric-types.

Klink floated idly by Kilik's head, almost right in the boy's ear. He wasn't aware of how loud he was actually being until Kilik motioned for the gears to float a little lower to the ground, away from his head. The gears rocked back and forth rather dully, though you could never tell by the look on its faces. The gears looked onward, seeing a cave up in the distance. Was this their destination?

As the two trainers approached the Oreburgh Gate, Kilik stood in front of the opening to the cave. "Now," he laughed, turning to look at the girl, "It's been far too long since I've been in caves. Being a Sinnoh-native, there's nothing..." he turned to look back at the gaping maw of rock, "nothing in there that'll eat me, right?" He turned in time to see Cable behind Katie, the large Pokemon rolling his eyes.

Amy's gaze cast downward almost guiltily when she saw Riza's minute expression as she asked about the contest, though her curiousity was piqued enough for her to press on and listen to the events she had missed. She had to push past the strange feeling that overcame her whenever she recalled Jerome and his Cacturne the night before. She looked back up, meeting Riza's eyes and listening with rapt attention as the girl retold how the contest had went for her in particular. The news of her match with Crenu and his Poliwhirl brought Amy up short, eyes widening somewhat. Sure, the blonde boy had seemed distant and cold, but their match sounded downright vicious. Almost unconsciously, she tried to see him from the corner of her eye, but discovered that he was no longer sitting in the lobby and must have gone elsewhere.

The bespectacled girl looked fretful as Riza recounted the final match against Jerome. She wasn't surprised that the boy had made it all the way to the final round; he had seemed incredibly strong, but she was glad to know that he had been given a run for his money. But when Riza pulled out her ribbon and announced her victory, the brunette gasped aloud and then grinned, pulling her into a hug without even thinking about it.

"Oh, congratulations Riza!" Amy cheered, pulling away after realizing that the other girl might be uncomfortable. "Oh, sorry! I wasn't even thinking, I just... congratulations! I'm so sorry I missed it. But you definitely deserve it." Sandile seemed roused by all of this excitement and made an inquisitive noise. Amy bent down to scoop him up into her arms, where he seemed somewhat content, if not distracted. "Maybe one day we can battle in a contest," she said with a small sigh, looking back at Riza. "I don't think I'd give you a good match right now, though. I still have a long ways to come... I actually planned to challenge Surge, like you told me you did." She paused, flashing a small smile to Karrigan as she emerged from the treatment room. "What will you do now?" she asked Riza. "Are you going to stick to the Kanto region?"

"A few days of training would probably do us some good," Jade agreed after a momentary pause, already knowing that she would have to get Solaris and Cirrus much stronger if they alone were to handle the gym. She was especially wary of using the Shinx, considering how much she anticipated some sort of behavioral problems with him in battle. Solaris, on the other hand, was well-behaved but she'd need to level up a lot more, and maybe learn a stronger Fire-type move than Ember. She frowned at the thought, but she wouldn't let it worry her for the moment. For now, they had to make it through the Eterna Forest. Jake paused, finally giving his Sigilyph a Pokeball to reside in, and she realized she ought to do the same.

"Good idea," she mumbled, already retrieving an empty Pokeball for Chloris. The Grass-type looked into the gaping entrance of the forest with watery eyes, shaking a little. "It'll be okay, I promise," the raven-haired girl cooed as she presented the Pokeball before the little cotton puff. "You can stay in here and I'll let you out when we make it to the other side, okay?" After getting a nod of assent, Jade clicked open the sphere and called the Cottonee into it, resounding with a sharp click as soon as it closed. She attached it to her belt and recalled Aquarius as well. With a crooked smile for Jake, she passed into the forest's threshold without another word. The sky was consumed by the canopy of trees, leaving only darkness in its wake, but it was by no means silent. As they walked on, the silent hum of insects seemed to grow louder and Jade even heard the caw of some bird or another every other minute or so. She glanced up into the branches of the trees, seeing silhouettes move against the shadows one moment and seeing nothing the next.

I feel like we're being watched, she wanted to confess after some minutes of walking. Though her gaze continuously returned to the trees, where she was sure something was stalking them, she also felt the burn of someone's stare on the back of her neck. She glanced over her shoulder once and saw nothing. Then she looked all around, seeing nothing but the trees and a large, mossy rock in the center of a clearing. She stared at it for a few moments as they walked and then turned her attention back to Jake, chuckling quietly. "So, know any good scary stories?"

Kasiya smiled warmly as she watched Mike with the little Litwick, certain that he'd raise the little guy into a powerful Chandelure someday. She could easily say the same for Keegan, watching with amusement as the redhead dealt with the baby dragon. Considering where he grew up, it was no wonder he was so good with him. "Hades," she repeated. "Good name." Seeing the white and red Premier Ball used to capture the Axew reminded Kasiya of Allegra and she idly wondered how the Skitty was doing now that she was in Ryka's care.

She looked up as Mike requested time alone with Flannery, and though her very first internal response was a furious, almost painful surge of jealousy, she held it back, and instead nodded, still managing a smile. "Sure, no problem," she said, scooping up the Candle Pokemon from the bed. "Take all the time you need," she added, ignoring the sting in her chest and she turned and headed out of the room. She too saw the commotion in the hallway but before she could say anything, Keegan had taken her by the arm and was leading her away from the chaos. "You don't do anything halfway, do you?" she asked, not sure what had inspired the redhead to pull such a stunt, but she figured it had something to do with his history with Mike and Flannery.

The next thing she knew, she'd been pulled into a small room filled with sheets and blankets, though before that she realized just how small this place was. Perhaps it was because of recent events and that she was still a little frightened of the redhead, but she couldn't help but feel a little claustrophobic and she kept glancing down at Pumpkin to make sure the little guy hadn't fired up his flame to start leeching their life energy away. She was also very sure she knew the reason why Keegan had dragged her in here, and all she could think about was how she did not want to have this discussion with him right now. "Hi," she answered, still looking down at the Candle Pokemon. "Is there... something you wanted?"
=-=-=-=-=

Aside from scolding Keegan for his idiocy, Flannery had been relatively quiet, standing off to the side and observing the three as they looked up information on the newly arrived Pokemon. She felt a chill when she realized that the Litwick had been sapping her life force and she rubbed her hands over her arms, suddenly not so envious of a soul-sucking Pokemon, Fire-type or not.

She stiffened up a little when Mike politely asked the others to leave and she watched them with critical eyes, noticing that Kilik had poked his nose in to check. She waved to show him he wasn't in trouble and that things were okay, and she looked back at Mike, who was still hiding in his hands. She knew he'd have to face the others eventually but for now, it was just the two of them. The silence that had settled in the room was deafening, save for the occasional noise from the nearby machines.

When Mike spoke up, even the softness of his voice was enough to make her jump and she sighed, now wringing her hands together as she made her way over to the bed and sat down on the edge. She wasn't sure how to answer right away, so she thought about it before saying anything. "Yeah, sort of," she said finally, though when she looked up at him, she was smirking. "Not like, hate-hate, but like, the kind when you ask your friend if these jeans make you look fat and your friend says no, it's your butt that makes you look fat and then you say 'I hate you'. The kind of hate you have for someone because you love them so much and they literally just scared the hell out of you with all the crap they've put you through. So no, I don't hate you, but you're not exactly in my good graces at this moment in time."

The machines connected to him let out a shrill beep as Mike's heart rate spiked from Flannery sitting down next to him, letting out another when her response to his question was "Yeah, sort of." But when he looked up and saw she was joking, he didn't know how to feel. He sat quietly as she talked, waiting a few moments after she had finished to reply.

"Good." Mike said shortly. "I guess." The right side of his lip curled into a smile. "Although it should be more." He looked up, tears still in his eyes, nodding as he spoke. "Yeah. More. It should be. I mean, I did make a monument of death to you in this very town because I was too stupid to figure out that the leader of a shady organization's main goal wasn't for me to impress you. It should be because of all of the things I did when we were kids that could have gotten you hurt or in trouble. It should be because I'm-I'm broken. Twisted. Bent out of shape. And now..." he raised his hand, the scars that covered it glowing a faint orange. "Now I'm a monster. A freak. Haunted by shadows and ghosts." Mike raised his head to look at Flannery, his green eyes drowning in tears that sent red trails down his cheeks. "What could I possibly offer you now? All I ever wanted was to make a world for us, but I failed. Repeatedly." He shifted his gaze outside the room to where he thought Kasiya and Keegan would be. "And now I-I...I don't know what to do. Please!" he begged. "Ask me things! Make me explain! You have to hate me. It's only fair to you after everything I've destroyed!"

The machines began to grow louder as Mike's temperature began to rise with his anxiety. "It's only fair." he repeated, burying his face in his hands again.

Robin, Zuko, Ampersand, and Luffy had been on the road for about two minutes when a bike road right in front of Robin. The redhead slammed on her breaks as she skidded to a halt. She did manage to make it in time though her long red hair was a bit frazzled and Zuko looked a bit scared but was trying to keep his cool. "Woah! Watch where you are going." Robin gasped her eyes wide as she stared at the sporty lady biker in front of her.

"Oh sorry about that! I thought you were more experienced. I should have guessed since you didn't know the rules of the bike road." The lady gave her a cheerful grin. At her side Ampersand skidded to a stop a few feet away from her Luffy looking like he was having a time of his life riding on the older mans shoulder.

"Rules?" Robin was confused as she looked over at Ampersand who just shrugged at her.

"You need to ride your bike and battle down the path at the same time!"

"Ride and battle? Haha! Sounds like a lot of fun!" Robin laughed as she grabbed Raz's parkball. Not only had Raz not had a good battle in a while but he was fast enough to keep up and he was a bug type. It would be a great way to show Zuko what bug pokemon could really do.

"All right! Let's get going!" The bike lady said as they both took off releasing their pokemon as they each took off. Out of Robin's pokeball a huge spiky Yanmega appeared. Outside of the bikers pokeball a pretty prancing Ponyta appeared.

Nyx looked at the tall man with a confused look. Why didn't he want to hug her? Be careful? But she didn't mean any harm she just wanted to play. She sat down on the ground a little sad, stabbing at the ground solemnly. Jason sighed as he walked up to her, picking her up carefully which cheered the blade pokemon right up. "Thats cool, I'm lucky to to find an expert then! I think she's a hunter, the food I gave her was full of minerals and such, the formula I use for my Onix. She ate it, but I don't think she liked it very much. Feeding her properly is my priority." As he spoke Nyx bounced in his grip happily, and poked Jason's hands playfully making him nearly drop her. "Ah ha ha, sweetie you have to watch the blade hands." Nyx made a cute sound looking at him sweetly, unaware of the damage she was causing.

Why was Carlos being followed by a cactus? It just didn't make any sense. Richardo didn't seem to notice though as he happily splashed around in the shallow water, the incoming water bowling him over every now and then. Carlos shot right up and loomed the cactus over, getting real close to it to get a good look. Suddenly it moved and staring right back at him was a pair or eyes and a wired black dot smile. Carlos let out a surprised cry as he stumbled back, the Cacturn laughing as a voice came in from behind accompanied by an accordion.

"Heh heh Hermano, I see you've met Pablo. He likes to play pranks a lot."

"Ah? Roberto? Que hondas hombre? How've you been man?" Carlos composed himself, whistling to Richardo who bounced over to his feet happily. He hadn't seen his older brother I'm quite some time, and was eager to catch up. "He was just a little Cacnea when I last saw you two. Does ma and pa know you're here?"

Almost right away, Keegan could tell that Kasiya didn't want to be there, but at this point, he really didn't care. There were things he wanted - needed, even - to say to her, even if she didn't want to hear them from him. Now that he had finally gotten her alone, however, it was increasingly difficult for him to form those words into thoughts. Is there something you wanted? he repeated mentally, feeling a slight prickle of heat waver through him and he realized he was already having to put forth a small effort to keep his temper in check as getting into yet another shouting match with her was the last thing they both needed.

He took a deep breath, wishing she'd look up from the Litwick and make eye-contact with him as it would be a lot easier if she would at least pretend to want to hear what he had to say. Focus, he told himself, as it was quickly becoming even more arduous than he initially intended. Not only that, but with every second that he let slip by, he knew Kasiya would be growing more and more impatient and eager to get back to Mike's bedside, as he knew the fact he was currently alone with Flannery was probably starting to eat her alive. He realized just then how utterly crucial his next words to her were. He exhaled sharply.

"Kasiya." This was it, the moment of truth. "I need you."

Both girls jumped at the sound of the explosion. Sasha yelped, grabbing Samba and jumping over the other row of chairs, peering out like a frightened Sentret from a tall patch of grass. Winona however, jumped to her feet and looked around.

"A counterattack?" she asked herself.

"How should I know!?" Sasha wailed, crawling under the chair in a miserable attempt to hide. Her legs sticking very noticeably out from beneath them.

"Yeah, that's real good, Frenchie." Winona scoffed, smiling at the trembling pair of long boots. "You'll certainly outsmart them with such practiced feats of stealth."

"Shut up, helmet hair!" Sasha rebuked, sticking her head out from the other side of the chair's legs. "I'm not used to crazy secret explosion missions! I'm a person of wealth and status, not some low-class brute!" Winona narrowed her eyes. That last comment seemed a bit too directed for her liking, but before she could fight back with some choice words of her own, she heard a familiar voice from behind her.

"Hello, Winona." Karen said, slightly out of breath. Her face was flushed.

"Hello, Mrs. Kyoka." Winona said somewhat stiffly. "What's wrong?"

"Mike woke up, and he's looking for his Pokemon. Would you happen to know where that pink-haired girl went?"

Winona's expression broke into a highly amused grin. "You mean, this pink-haired girl?" she said, pointing behind her to the area beneath the chair. The Gym Leader wore a proud smirk.

"Uh, Winona." Karen looked down, seeing nothing but the floor. "That's a carpe-"

"Huh?" Winona looked to the spot where Sasha just was mere seconds ago and too found nothing but woven gray fabric.
"I do believe she was referring to moi, Madame." Sasha said sweetly from behind the two of them. Winona spun around and sure enough, there she was, and she looked stunning.

Did she put on makeup?! Winona stared in shock at the girl in front of her.

"Oh, yes." Karen said, also taken aback by Sasha's radiance. "I'm, uh, Karen. Mike's mom."

"Je m'appelle Sasha Jennings Beauchamp z'he fourth." Sasha said with a polite curtsy. "You must be here for his Pokemon. They are on z'he chair, along with z'he rest of his things." she gestured behind them. "I took z'he liberty of cleaning some of z'hem off."

"Well thank you." Karen said, impressed. "Such a sweet young woman. You're much more lovely in person than on camera."

"Oh-ho, merci." Sasha chuckled gracefully. "You've seen my modeling work?"

"Oh no." Karen replied somewhat bluntly, walking over and picking up her son's ratty bag. "This makes the fifth bag he's gone through." she said with a sigh, counting the Pokeballs in it. Satisfied, she closed it and turned to leave. "It was nice seeing you again Winona. And it was nice meeting you Sasha."

"Z'he pleasure was all mine."
"Goodbye, Mrs. Kyoka." Winona waited until Karen was out of sight before turning and glaring at Sasha, who merely smirked in reply. "I'm on to you, Frenchie." she said through grit teeth.

"Please," Sasha said darkly, leaning closer. "Don't tease me." she whispered into the Gym Leader's ear. Winona's face turned bright red. Sasha smiled and sat down on the chair behind her, Winona sitting one chair away and crossing her arms. She held her hand up as Kilik walked back into the room to tell them what was going on.

"We know."
"You just missed his mother. She came in and told us." Sasha said, patting a chair next to her for the boy to sit.

“Yeah. Next time,” Scarlet repeated, taking a small bite of his sandwich. He decided that food didn’t taste terribly great after such a close match, though. Maybe he’d feel more ravenous for breakfast, if he didn’t get a case of nerves. Scarlet took a sip of milk, listening intently as Jett started sharing his story.

If anything could be said about Jett, it was that he certainly had a way of finding rather… interesting Pokemon. Between his belligerent Beautifly, that no-nonsense Noctowl, his eerily introspective uh, Kirlia? And the scary serious, uh… Viy, Scarlet hoped that whatever Jett came across next was cheerful, or at least had a sense of humor. “An Ekans, huh?” Scarlet muttered, wiping his mouth with his sleeve. “Your team’s… kinda scary, I gotta say. I’d hate to be Bugsy tomorrow, I’ll just put it like that.”

The conversation point of the youngest gym leader was a particularly interesting one. After all, the morning’s battles would, needless to say, be tomorrow’s highlights. But the redhead didn’t seem particularly excited about it. “I hope so,” he said with a small voice. “After Cyan, I’m a little worried. I guess I shouldn’t be, but…”

A small snort came from across the table, where the eerily large mass of gas hovered, turning his gaze from the… the Viy. Surely the endless source of confident stupidity Terumi had adopted as his trainer didn’t believe that he could lose to a mere child playing with butterflies and worms? Not because he lost a match using an overgrown rat with a matchstick butt against a water crocodile. He’d trained hard, too hard to lose, that was for sure. He even had a new move to show for it, and he couldn’t wait to use it on targets not so agile as a fish.

“I guess I’ll see what happens. What about you?” Scarlet finished off his glass of milk, glancing toward Halibel as she polished off her meal. Silently, he recalled her and Terumi, listening to see if Jett was half as nervous about this whole thing as he was.

Kasiya's cheeks flushed slightly when the blonde boy began to speak. No, she wasn't the stealthiest person around, and she looked from Crenu to the Ariados, certain she'd never seen a Pokemon looking so down and defeated before in her life. She listened to him speak, trying to recall if he'd been this logical and cold during their previous meeting, back at Slateport. He'd seemed like the type to always think everything through, and even though he had good reasons, Kasiya knew she had to step in. She didn't know what the spider had done to let him down, but she assumed Ariados hadn't performed very well in the match against her father. Bug/Poison-types weren't an idea match-up for Steel-types like Magneton, but it seemed like this wasn't the first time Ariados had disappointed him. She felt a chill run through her when he finally turned to face her, and though she couldn't help but feel a bit nervous from the way he looked at her, her brave front never wavered and she stared back at him, her gaze equally angry.

Crenu started walking back toward the Pokemon Center after recalling the absolutely devastated Ariados back into her Pokeball, but something Crenu had said stuck in her mind. She began to follow him, the wheels in her head beginning to spin. "I'll take her," she said firmly. "I'll trade you one of my Pokemon in exchange for Ariados." Of course, as soon as she said it, she began to feel a bit of guilt as well as panic as she realized she had no idea who she'd trade for the spider Pokemon. There was no way she could part with Rosemary or Nova, or even Alphonse. She couldn't possibly give up Pepper as they'd only just come together, and for some reason the gentle-natured Tropius didn't seem like a good match for the cold Crenu. "I know," she called excitedly as they reentered the Pokemon Center. "How about my Muk? I'll trade you my Muk for Ariados."

There was an undeniable sense of familiarity for Jake as he and Jade entered the forest, and though he couldn't remember just why, he knew for certain that at some point before he'd lost his memory, he'd entered a forest like this one at least once before. Virtually all the light was swallowed up by the thick ceiling of leaves above their heads, with the only exceptions being the occasional rays of sunlight filtering through. The thinner areas of the treetops shone with a luminous green glow, adding an atmosphere of mystery to the forest. It was also considerably cooler in here as well, but the air was crisp and clean. Their feet passed over a thick carpet of pine needles and other fallen foliage and Jake sighed, finding that he felt rather calm and refreshed here. There was signs of life all around them and Jake did his best to take them in, occasionally exchanging 'glances' with Sigilyph.

At one point he saw Jake look over her shoulder and then all around, as though searching for something, but then a large rock covered in a fuzzy green moss caught both of their attention. Sigilyph seemed very interested in it and he floated over to it and did several laps around it before he made his way back to Jake and Jade. "Scary stories?" Jake repeated, shaking his head. "None that I can remember, off the top of my head, that is," he chuckled. "It's not that bad in here," he added, and slowed his pace as a little red bug covered in spikes had caught his eye as it slowly crawled up a tree nearby. It seemed far to preoccupied in its climb to notice the two humans and the odd Pokemon with them, and Jake figured they'd better let the little guy be. For some reason he associated pestering cute, innocent little bugs with large, angry death bees.

Karrigan had decided to just sit quietly and wait for whatever was to happen next, but Naga had started to get sleepy so Karrigan decided it was time to assign her a Pokeball of her own. "Have a nice little rest," she told the Cubchoo as she disappeared into the red and white sphere. She glanced around again, seeing that Amy and Riza were still chatting though she didn't miss the gorgeous ribbon the black-haired girl was now showing off. Karrigan wasn't overly familiar with the contest world but she did know that it was no easy task managing to land the first-place ribbon like that. Her ears also perked up when she heard Riza mention a Weavile and suddenly she was very curious as to what Pokemon Riza had with her.

The doors to the Pokemon Center opened just then and the redhead looked over to see the blonde boy from before, Crenu, reenter the center, followed by the cheerful blonde girl, Kasiya. Crenu seemed upset by something, but more intriguing than that were the words being spoken by Kasiya. "Trade?" she murmured, standing up and inching closer as her curiosity got the better of her. Was that possible, trading one Pokemon for another? Was it even allowed? Kasiya seemed rather excited by the prospect, and despite her interest, Karrigan hung back, wanting very much to see this whole trading thing for herself.
