She didn't need words (or didn't have them), not at this moment. Squeezing his hand tight, she skipped towards the door with him.. then through it.

Following the footsteps of all the other phoenixes. How ironic; always the first, and now.. the last. But she wasn't alone, and never had been. They had always been there for her.. who dared to say they wouldn't still be, on the other side of the door?

"Haha, right. We'll see about that after we head through the door and see what's behind it."

E8 watched at the group blocking the door all marched through one after the other. As each entered he felt himself growing saddened by the fact it meant it was closer to their turn.

"Right, so I guess it's our turn..."

He took a step closer towards the door and stared in to the darkness once the group was gone.

He didn't want to say good-bye. He didn't want it all to end, but alas, it had to. But then again, as the one guy in that one movie said, 'It's not good-bye. It's only see you later."

Giving a wave, he took a deep breath and headed through the door.

"See you later, Thirteen."

They disappeared, one by one. If they were headed back, okay. If they were on their way to another test, he wanted to play to win. If this was it...well, even with E-8 waving at him, they were heading for an hour in which they were all alone.

"Yeah. Later, Eight."

He looked around at the rest of the lounge. Maybe it wasn't such a bad place to spend eternity. A room full of drinks you couldn't drink, companions you couldn't...

Forget it. He'd take his chances with the door.

A-Eleven watched as people began going through the door in larger numbers. Some she knew, some she didn't. In fact, it seemed as though everyone she had met in her time on the island had gone through the door. Some seemed happy about, others not so much. Still, it was all a little bittersweet. Everyone seemed to have accepted their fate, a fate she would have to follow soon. This was the end.

She sat on one of the couches for a bit. It was nice that being squished had not been her last memory, nor had being burned as a zombie. I seemed odd that they all had the chance come here for a moment, but still nice. Even if is was for a short time.

She sat for a while, thinking about everything and nothing. She also wondered what was on the other side of the door. After a bit, she decided it was time to find out. She couldn't stay forever, could she?

Time to bite the bullet, she thought as she stood. Sooner or later, it didn't matter. The door was there for everyone. Calmly and quietly, A-Eleven walked towards the door. Tears stung at her eyes. She really didn't want to say goodbye to herself, but she knew she had to go through that door. She had accepted that, and it was time to follow through. She was strong enough for this. She had to be.

There was the briefest pause before she stepped over the threshold. "Goodbye," she whispered. It was to the room, the island, everyone she'd met and herself. Then she stepped through the door.

[A-Eleven is concluded.]

[Bix entering from FINAL TEST]

Bix woke up on a couch. At first something in his head tickled him. It was a dream!

And then reality set in. It was slow, not a shock, and he abruptly popped up to look around the room. He had just been taking an exam! He was somewhere pretty nicely furnished and there was a bar. A bar?!

It was a good thing he wasn't much of a drinker or the gas mask would have been all the more frustrating. He saw a line of people, one by one, entering through a black doorway and there was something very solemn about it. He could tell, just by their bodily signals that this was something serious. Something important.

Bix didn't see anyone from Beta and not a single person he recognized. He rose, silent, and followed the procession. His long strides took him there in moments and he even attempted to correct his slouch as he stepped through the door.

He always was a follower after all.

(( Delta 3 is arriving from the Final Test! ))

Deli really didn't want to wake up again, because third time's the charm after all: Something soft was under him, and for the first time in days he actually felt that he had slept; who would want to ruin that? So rather than open his eyes, Deli rolled over to go back to sleep.

Or, he attempted to that is. He did not realize how narrow his "bed" was and soon found himself reacquainted with the ground. "Aaagh . . . Maaaaam, gimme five more minutes," he groaned sarcastically as he shifted to his back and sat up.

For a brief moment, Deli truly thought that he had woken up from his horrid, horrid nightmare: away from nasty ponies and people in cloaks and shadows being mean and zombies and -

- then he went to rub his head and felt armor. So that's why the fall hurt more than usual.

Oh yay.

But, a good sign! He turned his gaze upwards, and what did he see but a cosy bar with several bottles still accessible! ALCOHOL. YESSSS.

"Finally!"

Scrambling up and onto the nearest stool, Deli proceeded to snatch a bottle, pop the top off, and pour it on himself. Maybe there was a hole in his helmet he could take advantage of, or it'd seep through the armor, something. Even the smell would be good for his spirit at this point.

No more fake alcohol for him!

When her eyes opened this time and saw the lounge around her again, she sat up and screamed in frustration, a muffled shriek through her mask that no one seemed to notice. All this, wrenching them back to the island, that aching hunger, and in the end she'd still ended up here. Clearly whoever ran this game didn't intend for them to win. There were more and more fallen players appearing in the lounge by the minute.

It seemed that they were supposed to go through the door now, as more and more were gravitating towards it, but Delta Six was reluctant to enter alone. Where was Delta Twelve? Or Seven, or Four? It would have been nice to have a familiar face with her right now-- the As and Es were going in groups and pairs. She thought about how she and Delta Twelve had traveled to the Abandoned Town hand-in-hand. His hand had been so warm. She wondered if these pairs also felt the strange familiarity that she felt around Delta Twelve-- there was still something she couldn't put her finger on.

Delta Six sat silently and watched as one by one, figures with As-- Alphas?-- on their helmets made their goodbyes to those around them, and walked towards the door that still hung in the room. There were others, too-- Es and Zs and yet more members of other teams, but she couldn't see any familiar green-armored Deltas around her, or even the few Thetas she had met. She felt a sense of urgency as more and more left-- would she be the only one left here? I have to move on.

Taking a deep breath, she joined the crowd hovering around the door. Before she stepped in, she took one last look around the lounge-- and still no familiar green and white helmet. Maybe if I wait a little longer...
Another person brushed quickly past her at that moment, his quick strides taking him into the door as she deliberated. No, she had to go now. I'm too dependent. Eyes closed, she took that final step through the doorway.

[ entering from Final task ]

He opened his eyes slowly. His thoughts were in disarray. Hadn’t Twelve just been in an examination room, just now? He had been taking an exam. He had been waiting for someone to collect his papers, so why the heck did he end up here, swanky as it was? Baffled, Delta Twelve continued to stupidly stand in place as he took in the other people mingling about the lounge. Everyone else donned familiar gas masks and gear. His eyes shot wide open and he raised his gloved hands to confirm that yes, he still wore his uniform and mask. Wait. Did I die? Am I dead? The innocuous thought entered his mind as he finally recollected the moment he had decided to drift into a brief nap. It wouldn’t hurt to get a bit of shut eye, was his reasoning.

His mind was still frazzled, but things began to come together, like pieces of a puzzle. Twelve only glanced at the bar and shelves filled with alcohol, skimmed past the lavish cushions, running his observant eyes around the room until he found a familiar green helmet, the recognizable “VI” emblazoned across its side. Delta Six. All other thoughts were pushed aside. He had found his teammate. He had found his deceased partner.

If he didn’t believe it now, he was definitely dead.

“Delta Six!” he frantically called out, but apparently she hadn’t heard him because she began to head towards a glowing door. He started to worry. “Delta Six!” repeated Twelve, stepping forward as he tried to stop Delta Six before she disappeared. He ran, willing himself to move as fast as possible. Twelve stretched out a hand in a vain attempt to grasp hers. Why was he so worked up about meeting Delta Six? Was it because he had failed to save her during the game? Was it because they had managed to stay together throughout this wacked game? He didn’t know.

He had been so close, but Delta Six was gone. Dumbfounded, Twelve stared at his open hand. He cautiously balled it into a fist. Back then, it was so cold, but her hand had been pleasantly warm.

What now? It didn’t take Delta Twelve long to come to a conclusion. There was only one thing left to do, after all. Eyes closed, he took a deep breath and took a step forward.

Delta Six, I’m coming.

((ENTERING FROM EXAM))

He'd fallen asleep or so he thought he didn't realize the deeper truth of his state until he woke up and he was elsewhere once more and blinking his eyes against the different atmosphere that surrounded him. Theta Seven felt disappointment overwhelm him for a moment. She wasn't at the exam no matter where or how he looked - she wasn't there. He saw the other three but not her, she who he wanted to see the most. Guilt started to wind around him tighter than the armor he wore could ever be.

Theta Seven shifted his body into a stiff standing stance from where he appeared or so he assumed he appeared he had no memory of actually walking into this place and walked forward slowly but surely.

...Could she be here? His eyes fell upon Deli before he could make any further investigations, there seemed to be a lot of people going on the way out just as there were others just hanging around the room. He felt too fuzzy in the head to see the numbers or their symbols, "Deli...You're here...D...Did you see Delta Nine...?"

Delta Nine had been watching the comings and goings of various people. Some she knew -- Delta One, Delta Four, Gamma Eleven. She wasn't sure where the door led to that people disappeared through, and although it was alluring she wasn't quite ready yet. Not yet. Since she'd first arrived here in the afterlife, she'd had some sort of undying conviction that he would come. They would walk through that door together, hand-in-hand.

That conviction was failing as each moment slipped away, the threads holding that heartfelt belief together were snapping as the numbers in the room dwindled. Maybe he'd come before her, or perhaps he was still alive? Delta Nine had no way of knowing. She'd overheard Delta Four mention that she'd died during the same task that Nine had.

Clenching her jaw, she'd taken a few determined steps towards the door. There was no more sense in waiting, was there?

And then she heard her name spoken in that same familiar voice, the one she'd been longing to hear throughout their separation.

"S-seven?" Her voice trembled against her better judgement. Was her mind playing tricks on her?

[ Alpha Eight is entering from the Final Task ]

Eyes slowly opened to the fuzzy waking world. Had he been sleeping? Eight didn't remember falling asleep or even laying down on a couch. Just a few moments ago he had been nervously taking a test... right? Yes, that was it. He had been trying to prove his worth through his words. A rather difficult task for a boy who had his own foot in his mouth more than humanly thought possible. Yes, he had been so worked up about it too. Really worked up. So high strung that he wasn't even able to make a joke about his situation or the effects of his choice of words. However, that whole situation seemed so distant, perhaps a dream? Yes, that was it. Go back to sleep, he told himself. His eyes started to close again.

"Wait..... No!"

Eight's eyes widened and he felt a shock reverberate through his entire body. He had been taking a test. Eight had been agonizing over each word in order to ensure his survival. Yes, that was a reality or as much of one as the island could provide. What had happened to him? Why was he here? Alpha Eight had just been in a classroom. Why was he here now? What was this place?

"Oh no, no, no, no, no, no! .............. I'm not dead. I can't be! I did everything right!"

He hugged himself tightly for a moment. Arms grasping his own sides for some form of comfort. Anything to console him. After his actions on the island, he didn't have anyone to reach out to. The closest things he had to friends had seen through his lies and placed him on the outskirts. An eternal loner and outsider, that was Eight’s identity now. Eight didn't have the luxury of friends. No, not here. Not now, not ever. Somehow this wasn't shocking or as tear-inducing as he thought it would be. The first few seconds that he realized he was dead, his body reacted in the same way it had before: his hands shook then his body shook, adrenaline caused his heart to pound against his chest, and his stomach felt like it might explode. These were familiar symptoms and his body's reaction to the idea of death or more so, to death itself. However, after the familiar feelings set in for the first few minutes, they suddenly disappeared. Nothing stirred him. His body barely moved when he told it too. Was he going to black out? Could he wrap his brain around the idea of his own death?

"..... It's....over..."

Eight still couldn't feel a thing. Waves of fear, anguish, and horror had moved on. Everything had gone numb. His mind had gone blank and his eyes seemed unable to fixate on anything. Blurs ofwhat looked like a bar, maybe? Eight couldn't bring himself to think of drinking. Thirst seemed like the last thing he needed to worry about now. No bodily function seemed important anymore. No, he would just let everything sink in as his eyes slowly scanned around the room.

"... Eh?.........Ah.."

A door, right there in front of him. A door that seemed the only entrance or exit into the room. How could he not have noticed it before? Was this the way out? Eight still couldn't gather all of his thoughts properly. However, he knew there wasn't any going back. No, that door had been closed. This door was different. He could feel it or maybe it was something he was supposed to know. Whatever the source, the door was his only option now. No pendant to save him, no "friends" to hide behind. Nothing remained in his mind except himself and the door. His body still numb, he raised himself to his feet slowly and walked towards the door. Eight thought he felt fear once more. Fear of the unknown. Fear of another life filled with such turmoil. But that didn't matter now. No, his feet had passed over the threshold and he was entering another place. Hopefully, he would do things right there.

"Theeeeev~ Nice t'see ya, ol' buddy, ol' pal~"

Deli was pretend drunk on actual alcohol.

He waved the guy over with a few lazy wrist flicks, tapping his new best friend The Bottle with a finger. "I got a better one 'n Niner. This here's my newest buddy. Say 'ello, will ya?"

Beat.

"She's shy, ain't she." Deli then turned at the sound of an actual third voice, then grinned beneath his mask. "Oiiiii, come join de party~ We dun bite, missy."

She sounded familiar. And chances were, given her first word to them, that Lady Luck was going to give Thev what he wanted. Just as she had given Deli his own bottle of wine!

Theven stared at the behavior of his comrade and just shook his head a bit in response uttering a small, "You can keep your 'company'. I just want to find out if..."

Then he heard her voice - the familiar voice of someone that was so strange and yet so dear to him for reasons he couldn't quite comprehend. Someone he felt a bond with though he'd only just met her when out in the fog. He turned to see the source of the voice his eyes focusing on the main aspects of her person, making sure that her number was correct before he could start to really smile behind his mask. It was her!

All this time trying to find her...

He looked over at Deli and laughed a bit before quickly moving toward her for an embrace, "Y..You're here! You're...still here..."

((arriving from FINAL TASK))

....w....were...was he...now?

Well....were ever he was...he was quite comfy. Perhaps he should take another nap? it had been ages since he had slept...

No..he should get up, he might be attacked by god nos what.

Eta five sat up, looking around and realizing that he was on a couch...a very comfortable one at that. near him was a cocktail bar complete with all sorts of liquor. It was a small room, with a door at one side. He sat back in the couch, relaxing into the soft fabric, thinking for a moment that he could stay here for ever if he so desired...

...wait

....Ah ****

Now, one would have thought someone such as Eta five to start to cry again, or scream or collapse on the floor like he did before. Instead, he sat there for five minutes staring into nothing, and then, he just sighed.

He had done enough crying already. Thats all he had done for the last minutes of the test. And then he had just felt tired, listening to the soft hissing that fillied the room and thinking he would just take a small nap

That must of been it. He must of been gassed. In a way, it was a complety ironic death; he had thought someone would of stabbed him, or been eaten by some monster, but no, he just went to sleep and was gassed. Kind of peaceful really.

As he looked around, he spied a few familiar people there, namely Deli who looked a little drunk (he couldn't fathom how though). He got up and walked over to the counter, picking a stool nearby and sitting down it.

"Hello there good sir" he said to Deli, a hint of a smile in his voice. "I don't suppose you could tell me what is good to drink around here? I'm unfamiliar with the selection." Might as well make the best of it...
