~Window~

[between the worlds--> Traverse Town : First District]

First, there was nothing.

Nothing. A void. No black, no white; an emptiness that held no beginning and no end.

Is this what death is like?

But with that one single thought, the void exploded with matter. It all hurtled by in a blur, leaving no room for observation--light, stars, planets, darkness, pinks, silvers, seas, wind, blues, breath...life. An entire universe. Suddenly, there was too much, too much pushing and pulsing and flowing, too much to take in.

And so Window fell.

Not that one could really fall through this myriad of matter. But for a second, Window lost the tiny grasp he had on perception. He had no body, nothing physical to hold him together anyway. His mind scattered, left to the sway and pull of the universe. That was when he was able to feel one part of the universe pulling just a little bit harder than the rest. There it was--a tiny niggle in the back of his consciousness. Window concentrated on that, and it felt like two magnets whose opposite poles were drawn to each other. Out of the sea of colors and light and darkness, a world came into view, and it was teeming with life. A world? Window thought vaguely. Since when are there other worlds with life on it? But there was hardly time for him to question anything as he hurtled down toward the surface of the impossible planet. And that's when everything became enveloped in a white light.

-------------

Window felt exhausted. Scattered. Like he couldn't quite keep himself together. He had a weird sensation that part of him was over by that light pole, another part was over by that mailbox, and the rest of him was floating about in between.

Wait. What?

Window decided this must be the strangest sensation ever. How could he be in different places? I am a physical being, not some particles on the wind! So he thought, and therefore he was. Window began to feel whole again, like a normal human. A tingling sensation arose in his whole body, and he marveled in the new sense, as if he had been without a body for awhile. Unbeknownst to the man, that is precisely what had happened. Anyone else who had happened to observe him would have amazed by the spectacle that had just transpired--a faint yellow, glowing light emerging in the right side of the First District that began to grow and expand until it covered a sizeable area, when it suddenly contracted and coalesced into a man lying on the ground.

A slight breeze blew over Window's body, but it was very different from the last one he had felt caressing his face. This wind seemed to like to explore, winding its way among his fingers, between his toes, and over his nether regions. Well, now, that was rude of the breeze, and a little too early in their relationship for such an intimate gesture. Window thought groggily. He then did a mental double take. The man's eye's popped open, revealing to him an unfamiliar night sky and alien rooftops. However, this was the least of his concerns and the last of his observations, the primary one being chiefly the fact that he was a very naked man lying in a very public place.

Window quickly sat up and crossed his legs, desperately looking around for something, anything to shield him from the elements (the elements consisting of any observer's wandering eyes). Luckily, the mailbox he noted earlier was next to him, and so Window leaped behind there. Looking down, he received the second shock of the day: he was see-through.

What the heck was going on?! However, his nakedness was still the first thing on his mind, and in a second stroke of luck (the bad and the good seemed to come in pairs), he found a tattered cloth snagged on the back of the mailbox. It looked as if it had survived an epic battle, sporting numerous tears and burn holes, but it was enough. Window hastily wrapped it around his waist, although he pondered whether it was worth it now that he was semi-transparent and someone would probably not immediately notice him; having the cloth hanging in mid-air held by a insubstantial man might be a little more conspicuous. Window held up one hand, looking through it. Did he die? What happened after the accident? Was he...a ghost now? Window closed his eyes and shivered at the thought. Spirits of the dead were considered extremely bad and unlucky in his country. Unbelievably bad. He knew they were just myths, but Window couldn't ignore some of those childhood stories and urban legends that persisted. No, there was no way he had died and become a ghost. If he had died, he would not be here in this very-real place. The man ventured to open his eyes again to continue staring through his hand. And that's when he noticed he was not alone in this place.

[Castle Oblivion :: Haruko's Room]

Haruko looked right at Ölüm and sighed realizing that probably he did not like hugs. "Sorry if I came on a little strong there," she whispered to him and let go. "I never had a friend before so I kind of over stepped my boundaries."

She thought back to the hug as she looked at Ölüm. Although the hug was one sided she felt warmth for those few seconds. As she thought of this a blush started to appear on her face a the thought of it. Haruko you are losing it Haruko thought to herself quietly.

"Shall we see what the others are doing?" she asked Ölüm going back to her usual giggling in between sentences.

[ Traverse Town ♦ First District ]

Nalo felt warm and chilled at the same time. As the first district was flooded with a soft glow and a cooling wind. His shock ultimately came when his eyes traveled away from Enyb and rested upon the apex of light, Window. He dropped the bowl of food at the mouth of the sleeping bird and quickly rushed over to window. As he neared, his instincts took over and made scaled down his speed.

This...thing was not natural and Nalo felt a strange force radiating. from it. As the light receded his was greeted with a peep show for a moment before the ethereal figure draped himself with a tattered cloth. "Who...w-w-what......where did you c-c-come from? Where did you...? How?" So many questions flooded Nalo's brain. So many choices. Flee? Approach? What if he was like the others that attacked Traverse Town only hours before?

[Traverse Town :: Second District Cafe]

"Eh, no matter Sory. It's not like we're going anywhere in the very near future." Suzu smiled broadly accompanied by a small shrug. Just before he had mentioned going around by ship. Was she going to follow? She knew he was in pursuit of whoever attacked the first district and surely those people had to have some association with the ones who attacked her world...

Suzu sighed and plopped her head on the table, with a side glance towards her brother. "Ah... what do we do after this Kuu?"

[Castle Oblivion :: Commons Area]

Aria sighed as she moved to straighten her sheets and fluff up her pillows. She gingerly picked on up to hug it before deciding that she wasn't in the mood to sleep anymore. Especially since the smoke had not entirely cleared from her room. She summoned a portal into the common room, maybe to get some tea.

New faces caught her attention as she walked in and she closed her eyes in annoyance. Vereor always seemed to pick up stray sheep, somehow and the Castle was only going to get noisier. Her eyes fluttered open as she took in the new faces... nobody worth noting.

{A heart shed for power is the only heart of worth.}

[Castle Oblivion : Commons Area (AKA Kitchen)]

"The drow brings up an interesting topic," the mind-reader, Diogenes, spoke, watching as Vereor brought over the finished tea, readying a set number of crystal glasses. "When will I get to meet this leader of yours?"

"The Transcendent Tyrant does not often make social visits," Vereor replied nonchalantly, pouring tea into glasses for each of those in the room, Aria included. "More often than not, I am the messenger."

"I wish to see Kyozuto. I demand to speak with him personally."

There was a silence as Vereor snorted, continuing to pour the tea into the remaining glasses before taking a seat for himself. "If any of you would like sugar-"

"Do not ignore me, human! I demand to speak with Kyozuto!" Diogenes declared, raising himself from his seat in one swift movement.

"You're far too stupid to be worth his time-"

"You ignorant peon!" Diogenes seethed, slamming his fists onto the table as he glared at Vereor. The sudden shake of the table was enough to knock over Diogenes tea cup, spilling its contents onto the table. The moment the first drop of brown liquid touched the table, however...

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

The ear-piercing screech seemed ethereal, as if it came from some sort of mystic form, resounding in their minds as well as their ears. It was high-pitched and scratchy, as though it belonged to some sort of twisted creature. And... it seemed to have originated from somewhere in Vereor's cloak.

The Veiled Gorgon sighed lightly, placing down his unfinished tea with a disappointed look. "I really wish you hadn't done that."

[Castle Oblivion :: Commons Area]

The sound of spilling tea was a new sound to Aria, the liquid touched the surface of the table and splashed upwards before momentum finally settled and the tea slowly covered the table. Hmph. There goes one. She thought to herself with a thin smile across her face. She looked between Vereor and Diogenes, the piercing sound of the scream still reverberating in her ears.

The Nobody leaned against the wall a bemused look in her eyes, a sense of curiosity settling on her mind.

[Ölüm]

(Unfortunately, there is not a fleck of remorse within me.)

[Castle Oblivion : Haruko's Room => Common Room]

Ölüm stayed still for a few seconds after Haruko let go, and then, in an instant, he immediately snapped his head up and smiled casually.

"Yes dear, I do believe that friendship is a fine example of society's ability to bond two people together," he said calmly with more irony than water poisoning, "Let's go."

Ölüm made his way to the commons room and came in just in time to see the rising conflict between Vereor and the new little upstart.

{Don't fear the dark... fear what's in it.}

[Castle Oblivion : Common Room]

The drow was right to have stopped short of the table. If he had been there, he might have reached out and steadied it as Diogenes slammed his fists down. You know, out of reflex and all that. Earlier, Fal'Navi had dived for a tea pot. A tea pot. Ridiculous, to the casual observer, but by this time the members had gotten used to it.

Well, the lasting members. As Zekvyr had noted earlier in the morning, Vereor could be predictable. Especially when it came to tea.

A loophole. Very useful to kill dangerous and unwanted members; granted, it only worked on the stupid or ignorant. He rather regretted it when that tea pot didn't break on Fal'Navi...

"I really wish you hadn't done that."

And I'm really glad you did. The drow's sinister smile didn't fade as he looked over at Aria, the girl leaning against a nearby wall, and said, "Let's play a game? Loser does dishes," he looked back to the mind reader, made sure to make eye contact, "He'll squeal before he dies."

((Gonna start bolding my speech))

Aria side-glanced to Zekvyr, who stood not too far away. The edge of Aria's mouth slid into a sly smile, something uncommon for the sound user. Her steel blue eyes flickered back to Diogenes, briefly. She wondered what was going through his head as everyone would soon be in on the bets. How was it? To feel utter despair? To have everyone around you... not helping you but waiting eagerly upon your death?

"That's practically a given Zekvyr." Aria replied as she looked back to the drow. Diogenes sure looked like the squealing type, Aria just hoped it wasn't trill. The Nobody turned her gaze on Diogenes once more, further assessing the situation before speaking. "The real question here is, whether he'll go quickly or will it last long... I highly doubt Vereor will like to play with him too long, it won't be worth his time."

[Castle Oblivion : Common Room]

"Depends," Zekvyr said in all seriousness, as if he was about to explain the mechanics of Vereor's inner chaotic mind, (as if one could), then stopped himself. It was a bet, and over dishes. Best not to over think things. "Very well. Whoever is the farthest off the mark loses. I'll bet he squeals, tries some pathetic attempt to escape, and ends up dying slowly anyway."

He might even beg for mercy, the drow thought, but did not verbalize.

[Castle Oblivion: Kitchen]

Revelin sat as a bystander in the Common Room as he witnessed the spilling of Vereor's precious tea. He flinched a bit as he heard the screech, but he tried to push it off as nothing more than a minor headache. As he overheard the other members of the Conclave making bets of some sort about how long the fool would last, he thought to himself that it was a trivial matter. He tried to see it more so as the hammer of justice being brought down upon the ignorant bug, but in the end a bug is just a bug. Its life would soon see the end.

[Second District Cafe' (Meeting Room)]

As people began to enter the room Rufus smiled and pushed a button on a separate table that was next to him. When he did so a small square in the center of the large table descended and then rose back up. This time with a bottle of wine and several glasses if any of the guests would like to partake.

He then crossed his arms and leaned against the table with the button on it looking at the various people who had gathered. He decided to respond to Sory. “Cutting right to the chase I see, you sure all of you aren’t already Shinra employees?” he said wryly, still smirking. He decided he should get down to business though

“Well you see I have a little project that I’m going to need some help with, I’m slightly shorthanded lately. It’s not a very hard job and I’m sure the likes of you can handle it… however that and the heartless information seem to go hand in hand, so if you don’t mind could one of you tell me how much you know about the heartless? No sense retreading old ground after all”

Zigmund

[Traverse Town First District

Zigmund stared directly at Vereor for a good long couple of seconds before turning to the nearest person (Aria) and quite bluntly voiced his mind

"The sad thing is that he could supposedly read minds, how you could be so stupid with a power like that is beyond me. Anyway what exactly is going to happen to the idiot?" Zigmund said, pushing his glasses back into place

I'd also want to know what in Oblivion that voice was, but...nah, to risky., he thought as well, though wisely enough, kept it to himself.

[Castle Oblivion :: Haruko's room -> Communs Area]

Haruko smiled and started to walk to the communs room till she heard some comotion about Vereor's tea. "Aw goody! Vereor do I get this one? PLEASE!!" Haruko begged Vereor. "I haven't had a good 'subject' in awhile, and thanks to Ölüm I have a new way to torture people!!!"

Haruko started to bounce around the room like a crazy hyperactive bunny in order to show her exciteness. If she got to get another "subject" as she called them, she would most likely be on top of the world. She then ran over and grabbed a towel for Vereor. As she did she wet it and gave it to Vereor before taking her place that happened to be ontop of the table.
